We stopped in while moving from Northwest Ohio to NC the end of December last year, and again yesterday while driving back down after a holiday visit. Both times we were in the middle of very long days, and happened to be in the area as the hunger pangs hit. The first visit was happenstance, the second intentional. Both times we had very good service, and plentiful, tasty food. Both times, I had the barbecue wrap with slaw and a side of sweet potato fries. We stopped here on a recent trip to Hocking hills and found a pleasant and yummy lunch spot. It isn't by far the best BBQ or most authentic style but was tasty and reasonably priced. We both got sandwiches... Mine chicken and my boyfriend had brisket. The chicken was smokey and tender...very large portion...a side of coleslaw was a nice addition. His sandwich was good, as he inhaled it in about 3 minutes... Lol..he had fries for a side..they were the standard steak fries..tasted average. As a starter they give you corn bread muffins, which are very tasty and not a bit dry I would have liked to try more but it was lunch and we left the next day...it had a huge outdoor seating area and was fun for a quick stop passing by...def give a try if you like some well priced BBQ with good sized portions! read more

There are not a ton of choices in the area, so we stopped here. I stopped into the bathroom only to be met with a massive amount of flies and over flowing garbage. The food was very mediocre and not hot. Cauliflower was seriously misrepresented on the menu, it consisted of 6 florets w shredded cheese barely melted. The slaw was average deli style, likely out of a tub from Sysco. The French fries were over cooked and extremely salty. We have been to this restaurant several times since they have opened and have never been disappointed. We hosted a party of 25 there last night and they did a really great job with getting us all served and providing good quality food. My favorite is the beef brisket, potato salad, and baked beans. Can you say food coma...oh my gosh this place was good. We just finished eating and not only was the service fantastic but the food was worth the wait. Id say we waited about 20 minutes before being seated. The bbq sauce is at the table and there are two kinds..sweet and spicy..you can add as much or as little as you like. They serve fresh, hot cornbread with butter.. You can almost pop a whole one into your mouth at a time..yum.. I'm a huge fan of the millstone. I've been there several times and it seems to have just gotten better with each visit. The sweet potato fries are amazing. I've never really liked sweet potato fries until I had them here. The pulled pork and brisket have always been great as are the muffins. This is my first review that I ever done online! I did this review so no one else will have the same experience I had. I and my boyfriend were starving from walking three moderate trails. We wanted a decent dinner and my boyfriend check this place out and has plenty of good reviews. I sat behind the pop machine and my boyfriend looking directly to it. We ordered an appetizer, 10 pieces of boneless chicken wings with tangy BBQ sauce on the side. My boyfriend was asked if he want it smoked or fried. He was wondering why the waitress asked him that way. Our appetizer was served and it was fried chicken wings (not boneless). Since we were so hungry we took a bite immediately without even noticing that it wasn't a correct order, I counted the wings and there were only 8 pieces, my boyfriend's piece was almost gone when I told him that there's only 8 pieces instead of 10. He stopped eating and we called the waitress and at the same time the person who delivered the wings was there. The waitress stated that she didn't hear my boyfriend saying 10 pieces of fried boneless wings, so they walked away with supposed to have the right order of 10 pieces boneless fried chicken wings. I ordered Grilled Ribeye with sweet baked potato and broccoli. My boyfriend ordered brisket with turkey, baked beans and broccoli. Fried chicken wings was served and again there were only 8 pieces instead of 10 pieces with BBQ and ranch dressing on the side (we didn't order the ranch dressing) at least this time it is he boneless fried chicken wings. My order was $22.99, my boyfriend's order was $16.99 and the boneless chicken wings was $9.99. My boyfriend didn't want me to say anything about the boneless chicken that we didn't get the correct amount because he is thinking that they might be thinking that we are now playing games. To make the story short ....Ribeye was VERY tough, tasteless, over 1/4 of the piece was fat and the half of it was overcooked and the other half is medium well instead of medium (I mixed a vinegar and salt for dipping to have some taste) ....Brisket and turkey was okay but they were dry...there was only a little amount of brisket than the turkey (side of the turkey were burnt!), brisket was an A-Okay nothing to get crazy about! ....The service was HORRIBLE!!! She never ask if we want refills for our drinks, if we want somethings else, if we want our dessert, how was our dinner and didn't even say anything before and after we pay our bill, Oppppsss, we told her thank you for bringing our bill and she said welcome or in that line of response. If your waitress/server is name Heather please ask for a different server, she deserve a ZERO tip from us but she got $2.00 instead of the 20% tip from the bill. ....The guy that was working in the pop machine were sneezing without covering his nose, so he was sneezing in front of the pop machine while filling cups of drinks! I will only eat in this place again IF this is the ONLY RESTAURANT left in this area, aside from that I will eat anywhere else. read more

While in the area to visit the Hocking Hills state park our family was looking for dinner. The online reviews were pretty high for this place and barbecue sounded good. It's also near our hotel so we tried it out as a family. Things started out great, the server was nice, attentive and quick. The complimentary mini cornbread muffins were amazing, and I would almost get the terrible barbecue again just for those. Beer selection was ok. On to the bad. We got brisket and pork sandwiches, plus a couple kids meals for the young ones. If they are actually smoking the pork and brisket, I'm impressed with the lack of smoke flavor. There was absolutely none. No seasoning either. The brisket was dry and hard and had a funny smell. The pork had a little moisture but still lacked any flavor at all. I wouldn't be surprised if it was all in the fridge for a few days then they nuked it and threw it on a bun. Even the bun was dry. There was nothing done extra to make it a good sandwich. White bun. Dried, hard meat. That's it. They need to find someone to get in there that actually likes barbecue and is excited and proud of their food. If that happens I'd come back because other than the terrible meals, it would've hit the spot. read more
