Milkees was my favorite cafe in Lisbon. It has a warm, relaxing atmosphere. I love the open, airy space with the wooden tables and chairs, and the plant game is strong at Milkees. There is a nice assortment of green foliage throughout the cafe without feeling overwhelming. I loved starting my day here - my friend and I visited Milkees two days in a row during our trip.
On the first day, I had the croque monsieur, an iced latte with oat milk and a salted caramel and chocolate chip cookie. Milkees uses Oatly oat milk (my favorite!) and the latte was great. The croque monsieur was just the right size and satisfied my hunger. I ended up having the cookie later in the day and it was chewy and not overly sweet.
My friend ordered the hummus and zucchini toast, and it was such a lovely-looking toast that I ordered it to-go when we returned the next day. The owner takes great care in creating the toast and carefully places the spiralized zucchini, edible flowers and pumpkin seeds on the toast. The toast tasted light and fresh, and held up well on our train ride to Sintra. If I return to Lisbon, I would love to visit Milkees again. read more
