Worth Going Out Of Your Way..... On our annual vacation, my wife and I were fortunate enough to get a reservation for 3 nights at the Santiago de Alfama hotel. Audrey's is their primary restaurant and we sampled 2 breakfasts, 1 lunch and 1 dinner. Here are the pros and cons. Pros: - In keeping with the hotel, everything is beautiful in a subtle manner. Call it "down-to-earth elegance". - Breakfast: The a la carte menu offered some of the best breakfast foods we've ever had. Examples: Fresh granola and berries with Greek yogurt. THE BEST EVER! Home baked breads and pastries. Orange juice that's pure and not too sweet. Bagel and lox to please the purists. Service was provided by a trio of very friendly, attentive and helpful young women. - Lunch: We ate on the patio in front of the hotel. I had a super tasty vegetarian Thai dish while my wife had a big salad. They were accompanied by the best Sangria in ages. Sweet, but not too much. - Dinner: The dining room is very attractive yet understated like the hotel. Comfortably modern European. Food was impeccable. Tomato salad was large and amazing. My wife's dish focusing on baked cod was large and filling. My polenta with mushroom ragu was immense and full of flavor. Breads are baked daily and almost as good as dessert. Speaking of dessert, mine was a fantastic chocolate mousse while my wife had fresh berries with a massive amount of the best homemade whipped cream. Wine was a local Chardonnay - an excellent choice - for a reasonable $30. - Prices for such a Michelin star experience are considerably lower than you'd expect in the US. Con: - While the food at dinner was fantastic, service was perfunctory. Our server, a pleasant young woman, covered the basics...but nothing more. During our 90 minute meal, she NEVER asked "how are you doing?" Can I get you anything?" We ordered a bottle of wine, but NOT ONCE did she offer to refill our glasses. She didn't speak an unrequired word. The man seemingly managing the room barely acknowledged us. The guy clearing dishes was the ONLY ONE to ask if we wanted coffee or tea. The restaurant was nearly empty. Did we not spend enough? Did we do something wrong? What a way to put a damper on a glorious meal. However, as well-behaved Americans, we left a 15% tip. The next day, we spoke with Martim Neves Carneiro from Guest Relations who was very receptive to our information. He said "they are part of a new nighttime crew and will need remedial help". How very true. Despite those hesitations, Audrey's certainly deserves 5 stars. read more

D*e*l*i*c*i*o*u*s! That's what the name of this place should be. We came here for breakfast... a quaint restaurant on a quiet street with a beautiful terraced patio set the tone. We had a perfect breakfast for our last day in Lisbon. Service was impeccable, and the food was excellent. We started with Cappuccino, juice of the day and a Bloody Mary to celebrate. The Bloody Mary was spicy and refreshing and went great with my eggs Benedict. We also had the French toast with berries, seasoned fruit and avocado toast. All were a "don't miss" on this menu. We loved this romantic restaurant in a quiet little district. It was all by itself in this old neighborhood so there was no touristy hustle and bustle. Service was excellent from start to finish. There were a number of Portuguese wines from which to choose but don't expect super inexpensive house wine. My partner found multiple gluten free options and in the end chose polenta. She exclaimed that it was her favorite dish so far in Lisbon. I had pistachio Pavlova for dessert; it was incredible. Two negatives: The red wine was a touch too warm. It should be cellar temperature. Perhaps that's not a concern in Portugal but at a high end cafe like this, I expect it to be served properly. Second, if you're looking for one of those famous inexpensive Portuguese dinners out, this isn't it. The tab would have been higher at home for this quality but that doesn't equal a big differential. This was an impulse choice as exploring Lisbon, getting hungry, and looking to Yelp for guidance! Audrey's is a small restaurant attached to a hotel. They have a wide variety of fresh juices and brunch foods on the menu- but I opted for lunch. I ordered a lavender lemonade and a vegetarian curry. The lemonade was enjoyable and you could definitely taste the lavender. The curry was nicely presented, flavorful and a nice portion size. Service was friendly and attentive. read more

The eggs Benedict came out hard boiled, which made for a very disappointing experience. The runny yolk is what makes this dish- sadly it was extremely underwhelming. My partner ordered the "English breakfast" and it was just ok- his eggs were also hard boiled. The sausage was very tender and felt very processed. There's better places to grab a bite for breakfast in Lisbon- however this place is one of the few that's actually open at 7:30AM. read more

Meh. This place was pretty spendy for Lisbon. We got there at happy hour so the waitress talked us into aperol spritz as a buy one get one free. (When we got the bill she charged us for all of them) 2 of us ordered the chilled octopus, which was delicious. However the second octopus arrived after everyone else was finished eating. We told her to go ahead and cancel it since we were done but she said we would be charged anyway since it had already been started (again, she forgot to order it so it was 100% their error). Anyway, we waited and the last octopus was hastily eaten. When the bill came I decided to take a look. That is when I saw the drink error, but also a "35€ optional service charge". I called her on this as well and she said it was because we were a bigger table. "Not disclosed" before we sat down. I'd say watch yourself here or get ripped off. OR...maybe go somewhere else. Came here on a whim as it was our first night in Lisbon. It's cute little spot in the Alfalma that's a little hidden off to the side. They had indoor and outdoor seating. All the servers we encountered that day were very friendly and prompt when bringing out our drinks and food. I had the Bacalhau á brás and it was amazing. The fish tasted very fresh and the sauce on the plate is not overpowering. I find that it was the right amount to compliment the fish. My brother got the scampi pasta. Which was just regular pasta nothing really stood out about it. We got the flaming chocolate dessert. Again, tasted great but didn't stand out. It's a great restaurant with great staff but I'd go with more mom and pop shops as I found the food to be overpriced for what we were getting. read more

Everything about this place is enchanting. The location is perfection. Both indoor and outdoor seating is available. It is attached to a beautiful five star hotel I had stayed at for one night just before the pandemic in January 2020. I had had a lovely dinner the night before my departure that was very good and everything about this place made me wish i had stayed longer than one night. When I decided to return to Lisbon this October to heal from the lockdown miseries, I knew I wanted to return to this beautiful country, and specifically, this fabulous hotel, not just for the incredible elegance and comfort of the rooms, but because Audrey's had left an indelible mark on my gastronomic heart. Most people, myself included prefer the outdoor tables resting on cobbled stone platforms just in front of the hotel. But they do have very smartly dressed tables on the inside if the weather prevents one from sitting outside. However, luck was in my side as throughout the past two weeks the weather in Lisbon was perfection, and so I took my daily breakfast (included with the room) outside. Watching the sunrise every morning I enjoyed a rich variety of brunch-style fare, beginning with my daily latte, and croissant. If particularly hungry, I would then add more, such as the bagel with chived creme cheese and cured salmon with a side of perfectly scrambled eggs. Some days the simple desert glass full of yoghurt and granola with berries woukd suffice. But I wanted to taste all their different offerings. For example, and not to be missed, are the scrumptious eggs Benedict! Or the Avocado toast. Or the banana pancakes (for the day you know you're going to walk them off going up and down Lisbon's lovely steep hills!) that have the bananas magically soft and candied inside the pancakes! There is angelic waitress named Kusum most mornings who greets you with the "juice of the day" which are extracted from a different combination of fruits every day. My great happiness was to be greeted with such warmth by the ever-present and equally charming hostess, Andrea, who greets you with her welcoming sincerity. She is the mother hen to her sweet staff always gliding along swiftly and elegantly. No detail is ever amiss. The dinners are quite varied and offer a broad range of influences. One of my faves is the delicately curried chicken with rice served a la Indian, with little triangles of naan, to the (highly recommend) fish of the day - which varies - but are usually grilled to perfection and served with lemon wedges and a salad, definitely my favourite. I could go on and on singing their praises, but trust me and simply go and see for yourselves. In the end what seemed to happen at every single seating, was the members of every separate table, one by one begin to converse, share stories of our provenances, the daily events, suggestions for sightseeing, but by evening's end we would become one large family. People truly relax here. They connect. They share. And by evening's end new friends have been made, Instagram names shared, phone numbers exchanged and the happy prayer that crowns every visit to Audrey's is made anew- that this won't be the last time. read more

What a great experience, from the beautiful bar and great drinks from Bruno, to the delicious food and Bosa Nova music. We ordered the yummy scallops, ceviche, and cod. We had the Sundae for dessert, can you say YUM!! A special thanks to the house manager Martin, he took such pride and great care to make sure, we as non-hotel guests, we're taken care of. Lovely ambience! Wonderful staff. Everyone was very friendly and attentive. We ordered the covert, which was excellent! I had the salmon, my husband enjoyed a fillet. My daughter had the pumpkin risotto. We all enjoyed the experience. The bartender we had on Sunday made the most beautiful strawberry daiquiris. My daughter loved this place so much that when it was her turn to choose again, we came back. My husband on the second visit ordered the piri piri chicken, it was tasty but very small. First breakfast in Lisbon. The location is lovely - right next to some lovely views and a garden. We had the shakshuka, the salmon bagel, pancakes, and scrambled eggs with smoked salmon. The scrambled with smoked salmon was a bit salty for me. The shakshuka was delicious. Service is a bit slow, but likely because they were just opening. They provided me with gluten free bread, which was very nice. The owner (or manager?) was very kind, and provided us a map of the city. read more

Food wise we had the grilled sea bass*, curried shrimp* (shocker to see this on the menu but it was incredible), garlic shrimp*, bachalhau gratin, seafood rice, bread w dips*, sangria (a bit sweet for me but the 3 people that had it at our table loved it), coconut cake*. it's all yummy! Amazing food, great service, pretty decor and ideal location to walk the calories off afterwards - or work up an appetite before... Andrea the manager was very nice and spoke with several tables, treatment of the staff was very professional (I saw the one star review afterwards and didn't witness anything mean or rude from her, she was awesome). The wine was excellent, but they ran out of every bottle we opened for Christmas. The lamb tangine was flavorful and satisfying, the grilled octupus and mushroom soup were good, but I felt lacked in flavors. I do not recommend the mushroom risotto nor the partridge soup. We were not offered the full menu; therefore, one of our guests had to choose something she did not actually enjoy. Furthermore, distinct price differences on soup (higher on the limited Xmas menu we were given) and many more choices on the other menu. We only found this out after asking for the menu. The waiter was brisk and sprinted around all evening even when there were only two tables. He actually ran into someone twice with a full tray of drinks. The young man serving our wine and removing our plates was excellent! He didn't skip a beat. The service was also slow with long gaps between meals. Toward the end we just filled our own drinks once the restaurant became busier. The table setting was nice and so was the plating. We found the interior to be clashing with the rustic vibe of Almada they tried to emulate. Good for families with older children, couples, friends, etc. Overall, the experience was middle-of-the-road. Not for the busy traveler expecting good food and warm service reminiscent of home. read more

Located on the 1st floor of a historic 4th century building (now the Santiago Boutique Hotel) Audrey's has been open for several years now. The owner Manuel is extremely hospitable and a wonderful overseer of this business. The food is healthy and cooked perfect to order, the service friendly and multi-lingual, I cannot recommend this spot more to those visiting or staying in Alfama, Lisboa PT. 5 stars all around. read more

We stayed at this hotel where Audrey's was and we spent many mornings at a wonderful breakfast, where they had fresh homemade baked pastries, delectable breakfast choices, great coffee and above all great service. We also went here one night for a casual, low-key simple dinner after walking around Lisbon all day. The french fries were fried to perfection, golden brown, and the heirloom, carpaccio tomato salad was simply delicious. The service there from everyone was amazing. This is probably my favourite breakfast places in Lisbon. It's set up nicely near the Miradourous da Santa Luzia. The location is very private, on a small cliff. It's a little uphill walk to get there. They have outdoor seating as well. The servers are very courteous and knowledgeable about the food on the menu. The avocados on toast are a must try. The eggs Benedict was superb as well. So was the Salmon and Eggs Toast. It's definitely not a very economical place, but for the quality of food they serve and the brilliant service, it's worth it. Audrey's Café is a wonderful sight. The design feels like a mix from all over the world, but the food is definitely based in this amazing city of Lisbon. You are welcomed as soon as you walk through the door. Audrey's Café is a place that you have to visit, and you must plan to spend some time there. It won't do it justice to rush in and out. My friend and I were in the city one Saturday lunchtime and just happened to stumble past the café. Being a Saturday, we decided to go with a whim and sit outside and enjoy the good weather. We were not disappointed. We were both hungry, so decided that we would order a few dishes and share each. For starters we went for bread, olives and pate, croquettes, xlams braised with white wine, garlic and coriander and then the Fresh salmon marinated in ginger, lime and vinaigrette. They were brought to our table by the attentive waiting staff. The service was excellent throughout. All of the main courses sounded great, but we had to settle for two. Being seafood lovers, these were the grilled octopus served with sweet potato and spinach and the Mozambican tiger giant prawns served over a bed of lime risotto, drizzled with aromatic butter. Both were sensational from first bite to last. Our sweet tooth was engaged and we looked for chocolate brownie with strawberries and lime sorbet and then upside-down cheesecake to satisfy it. These dishes were the right balance between flavour and sweetness. A wonderful way to round off the meal. And we will be back. read more

Great place for brunch. You can get a breakfast set for about €20 or order individual items. I have had omelette with ham and egg Benedict royals. Both were delicious. I paired both with a nice glass of fresh orange juice. On a sunny day, you can sit outside and enjoy a mesmerizing view of the ocean. The service has been wonderful. It's a little pricey for breakfast, but considering it is in a hotel, its price is reasonable. read more

We ate outside after the sunset, so it got a bit cold. They do have heat lamps, but they don't cover the whole table. They do supply blankets as well. The restaurant is associated with the adjacent hotel, so you have to go through the lobby. The lobby and bathroom were clean, nice, & fancy. Overall the food was good. The price is a little higher than some of the restaurants around. We ordered the aged ham, but wasn't impressed. read more

Went here for breakfast with my wife and 2 children. I will not return due to how rude the manager, I believe her name was Andrea, was to the staff. She talked to them as if they were peasants. I don't think she realized customers could hear. I felt bad for the staff and will not return. The wait staff were very nice and very kind to my children. This is an expensive place, the food is no good and the service is slow and grumpy. A classic tourists trap.

We came across this place whilst walking through Lisbon late at night and decided to sit down for dinner. A great choice! The staff were very friendly, it was very well decorated, the menu had great choices and the food was delicious! I ordered the vegetable curry which looked and smelt fantastic! Followed by that, I also had he red fruit upside down cheesecake which finished it off nicely. Thank you Audrey's cafe!
