We stopped by this location near the Jerónimos Monastery and had a really lovely breakfast overall!…read moreThe Cured Salmon Benedict was the absolute star of the show. The eggs were poached absolutely perfectly, and the runny yolk soaked into the beautifully light brioche bun. The flavor profile was excellent; the dollop of herbed cream cheese paired incredibly well with the fresh spinach and the punch of the pickled red onion. My only tiny personal critique is that I wished the salmon itself was just a bit saltier, leaning closer to a traditional lox, but it was still incredibly flavorful and satisfying. For drinks, it was a bit of a mixed experience. I ordered the Iced Pistachio Latte, which unfortunately left me a little underwhelmed. It wasn't a bad drink by any means, but the pistachio flavor just wasn't very prominent. On the plus side, my friend ordered the Iced Tiramisu Latte, and hers was absolutely delicious and packed with flavor. Overall, it's a great spot with high-quality food and a fantastic location.

I sat alone at the windowsill and ordered the classic breakfast (€13.50) and a Bloody Mary (€8). The food was fine, but the experience at checkout left a bad impression. I was told there would be an additional €4.50 charge for the bacon in the Bloody Mary. I pointed out that this was not reflected anywhere on the menu. The waitress responded, "It doesn't make sense to me either," yet the charge was still not removed. So ultimately, I paid €4.50 for one piece of soggy bacon in tomato juice. I highlighted and attached the menu because transparency matters, especially for visitors unfamiliar with local practices. Unfortunately, this felt like a clear tourist upcharge, which was disappointing given my initial excitement to support the establishment.

Thanks to Lisbon, I'm completely reconsidering the idea of brunch as a concept... am I a brunch…read morelover after all??? My favorite thing about how they do it in Portugal is the emphasis on fresh-tasting, quality ingredients and natural fruit juices with generally smaller portions, rather than the massive food-coma-inducing servings that you'll find at many American brunch spots. My search for yet another delicious Lisbon brunch led me to Fauna & Flora, which caught my eye with its aesthetically pleasing menu featuring kataifi "nests", acai/smoothie bowls and unique fruit juice blends. Everything we ended up ordering was as delicious as it looked and sounded on the menu, from the Tropicália pancakes (a light yet indulgent stack layered with coconut and mango cream, topped with a pineapple confit, mint, lemon and coconut flakes) to the intricate Salmon nests (baked avocado with smoked salmon, cucumber pickle set and a perfectly sous vided egg on top over the crunchy kataifi nest for an elaborate and flavorful mix of textures). Between my bf and I, we also ended up ordering three of their natural fruit juices to try the inventive combos (watermelon and mango, acai with goji, banana and berries, etc), which were all delightfully refreshing~ Although it was a bit of a detour from our sightseeing path, Fauna & Flora is definitely worth a visit -- especially for vegan or gluten free diners who will find no shortage of delicious options on their breakfast and lunch menus. If I had more time in Lisbon, I'd absolutely return to try one of their açaí bowls, their juice of the day or one of the enticing lunch bowls that had me tempted even at brunch!

My daughters loved the lazy salmon and disco mushroom. The space is small and tightly packed; they converted a two-person table into a three-person one and seated me on a stool. My large latte was long on the finish and dark roast flavorful, and my Nutella croissant buttery and only lightly crispy. For me it was the perfect size. But my family ordered what turned out to be surprisingly large salad portions and only made their way through them dutifully. My brother felt the out-of-stock quinoa that the back of house regretfully omitted removed a vital textural and flavor element that would've set off the avocado and absorbed the dressing. My mom criticized the mild vinaigrette on her salmon and walnut salad and felt the lox was too abundant. Still, we three hung out for an hour here, in downtown Lisbon, for €35 after tip, which is pretty excellent value.

The shakshuka, part of the seasonal menu, was incredibly flavorful and bright. The tomato sauce was perfectly balanced, not overly acidic at all, and beautifully complemented by the green pea hummus, fresh salad, and red onion. It comes with exceptional homemade sourdough bread that is perfect for wiping up every last bit of sauce. My only tiny critique is that I wish the egg yolk had been a bit more runny rather than jammy, but it was still a delicious dish. For drinks, the Cremoso Iced Coffee is a total indulgent treat. Combining a double shot of espresso with vanilla, milk, and pastéis de nata ice cream, it is definitely on the sweeter side for coffee in Portugal. It feels more akin to a standard, sweetened iced coffee in America, but the blend of sugar, cream, and cinnamon made it the perfect vacation splurge. The interior decor is adorable, bringing lots of tropical, fresh, and welcoming vibes that are perfect for a cozy morning. Because the indoor seating is fairly limited, I can see it getting packed during peak hours. However, my party of three walked right in and got a table with no issues on a Monday morning around 9:00 AM. For food, we ordered the Crispy Daddy sandwich and an omelette. The Crispy Daddy was SO good with fluffy eggs, crispy bacon, and so much flavor in the guacamole. Definitely a standout! We ordered the omelette the normal way, which is slightly runny but not really runny, and it was light, delicious, and paired perfectly with the bread.
