So it was probably one of the last few warm nights in October. LRoth and I decided to check this place out after Fin. We knew it must be at least decent given the long line wrapping around the building. The bubble waffle cone was what I was here for though. Nice nitrogen ice cream with hong kong style egg waffles! I've had Milkcraft in Hartford and was really impressed with it so I visited the one in Fairfield. The shop was a lot smaller and barely had any seatings inside but had more seating outside with a cute outdoor patio and a fireplace. Menu seemed to be the same. And it's always fun to watch them make the ice cream from scratch. I did want to try the churros waffle but it seemed to be too heavy. Also, the donut looked really good too. I ended up just getting the vanilla bourbon which had really strong bourbon flavor. It was really good but it was too "white" for me. Had I added nutella, it would've been perfect I think. I was walking with my wife in West Hartford Center, Connecticut when we passed a sign on a widow saying that Milkcraft was coming soon. My wife got so excited. She was surprised that I had never heard of it, and she immediately took to Instagram to find pictures of what Milkcaft was all about. A couple weeks later we decided to take a little trip, which consisted of an hour drive to Fairfield in order to see what all the hype was about. When we arrived there was a line out the door, but we had come all that way so I said, "LETS DO IT!". After maybe a 15 minute wait it was our turn. The young lady helping us was SUPER nice, informative, and had an upbeat personality, which is amazing since the store was so busy. She immediately apologized for the wait and helped us decide on what we wanted. First of all, I didn't know the ice cream was made with the aid of liquid nitrogen, which is SOOOOO cool. And the combinations of flavors they had was our of this world. I had a Maple flavored ice cream in bubble cone (their waffle cone). It also had a maple syrup drizzle and BACON on top. Yes... BACON! That ice cream was amazing, I'm already addicted which is bad, because until it comes to West Hartford, it will continue to be an hour away. This ice cream ties for my number one ice cream spot of all time, it's THAT good. It's a a little firmer than soft serve, but ALOT silkier than regular ice cream. The bubble cone is sooooo soft. I was expecting it to be hard but it was so fluffy! I can go on and on about this place, but I would just tell you to try it for yourself. It's a MUST visit place. They are always making more right in front of you. I had their chocolate ice cream which was creamy but not an overpowering chocolate flavor. I've been multiple times and ordered with and without the bubble cone. The only con is there is almost always a wait with a line of the door. It makes sense because the ice cream is amazing and also because of the made to order process. However just be aware of the wait -- it can be annoying but the ice cream is well worth it! The trip to Milkcraft was very disappointing. I went once earlier in the year and I had an amazing 5/5 experience. I went the other day with my family and we ordered the Vietnamese Coffee and the S'mores Campfire and it was unsatisfactory. The Vietnamese Coffee has ground up coffee beans which was very overpowering for the ice cream -- which sucked because I had the Vietnamese Coffee the first time and was so in love. After trying to eat it, I just felt sick. The S'mores Campfire was a chocolate ice cream that was too rich in flavor. That it just was too much to enjoy. i literally love this ice cream shop. It's such an experience any time I come. I also love the fact that the workers embraced the fact that I was a vlogger. Upside: What an experience watching everything being made. From the ice cream, the cones, the toppings, it's visually amazing to watch. The ice cream is so delicious too. Aesthetically pleasing for photos. The shop is visually nice as well. On a warm day you can also sit on their very cute outdoor seating area. And the workers were extremely nice. Downside: IDK. I came here while I was driving back home from my trip to Connecticut. I've seen pictures of the waffle bubblecone with ice cream, so I wanted to try it. Yes, I was going with the hype so why not see what the hype is all about. The inside of Milkcraft looked really nice with the wood paneled counter and chalkboard wall menu. You can see your order being made which is also pretty cool. They were using liquid nitrogen to freeze the ice cream. To order, you can do a waffle bubblecone or creameebuns (donut buns) with some unique flavors. I ended up just going with the milk and cereal flavor because it's a comfortable choice for me. I opted for the fruit loops cereal to go on top of the ice cream. It honestly does taste great. I would love to go back and eat some more or try the creameebun. However, it is slightly expensive here. They seem to be very busy as there were many people sitting in the small seating area outside, but the line was fairly small. There's really hardly any seating though if it's busy so it's a little inconvenient. There's also no seating inside. This is located in a small shopping area so the parking can get crowded as well. Now, one thing I didn't realize that if you get two scoops you get it in a cup instead of that tasty bubble cone (which bummed me out but that's on me for not reading what it said). I ended up getting 2 scoops of the s'mores because I'm a sucker for anything that involves marshmallow AND not only was it in the ice cream, burnt marshmallow was on top making it look that much cooler. I absolutely loved my ice cream and the only bad thing is knowing I can't come here whenever I want. The desserts are pretty pricey but I wouldn't think these rates would change anytime soon (given the amount of business they receive). HOWEVER, the ice cream is yummy and creamy, the waffles are served to you warm, and it's pretty fun watching the whole thing made before your eyes (unless you get scooted to the side for the next person in line). Pretty good! My family and I got two ice creams from here, one s'mores and one that was very chocaletey(I don't remember the name) both on a bubble cone. I'd never had a bubble cone before this. It's basically a very fluffy, delicious, twist on a waffle cone. Both ice creams were so creamy and fresh. You could see the employees actually making the ice cream in front of you! The best part was that they used liquid nitrogen. They used to make everything made to order..but I went this past weekend..and the bubble waffles weren't as hot and crispy as they used to be..they are premade and then warmed up. The ice cream used to be made in front of you..but it looks like they had a some leftover from another batch pre-made and not as frozen so they simply just scooped my ice cream out of a that bowl. I have to say that my first experience at Milkcraft was a great one. I stopped in on my way home from NYC on Sunday afternoon. I was thrilled and in awe with varieties that I was able to consume. The space is small, so be prepared! Now that the weather is getting warmer, the additional seating outside comes in handy. It does get packed very easily on the weekends. The sheer bliss of watching the Milkcraft employees concoct delicious frozen creations is a site to see. I tried to observe as much as possible. Be patient while waiting for your ice cream, because it a process to make their delicious master pieces. The serving size of the bubble cone is very large. I would advise if you are two people, split one. If you are solo dolo, go for the fully loaded bubble cone or a cup of their creamy, dreamy ice cream. Milkcraft has the best ice cream creations of it's kind in Connecticut. I would highly suggest stopping in if you are in the area. The weekend tends to be much busier than a week night, but that is expected. Once you have the first bite, it will be all over! read more

After an abbreviated lunch elsewhere in Fairfield, my daughter went on Yelp and suggested we try this interesting ice cream parlor just off busy Rte 1. Parking was easy and we were lucky to be the only customers at that time. Crafting the ice cream is a laborious and time-consuming chore for the server but was a delight for us to observe. I had a cup of red velvet cake ice cream topped with whipped cream, chocolate sprinkles and a spoonful of red velvet cake crumbs. It was divine. My daughter had milk and cereal topped with Fruity Pebbles and was also very pleased. We sat out on the deck by the firepit and chilled in the best sense of that word. She didn't listen to what people were saying and got tons of orders wrong! I heard over and over while waiting-'that's not what I told her' Waiting: I honestly don't mind waiting for my ice cream given the quality but the room is small and it's becomes claustrophobic in there. I could barely move and more people kept coming in and none were leaving. Fellow customers: this is no dig at the rating but the fellow customers in there were rude and disrespectful. My son had a craving for ice cream and I remembered from the billboard on 95 that Milkcraft was in the area. All I remember is the cone in the picture looked delicious. Damn marketing. Anyway, the place it's self is located in a parking lot / strip mall. There is parking but I'm not sure all of it is for Milkcraft because there are other businesses in the area. Milkcraft it's self is rustic yet loud. As others have said the music is loud. You guy's should lower that a bit. On the wall to the right lays the menu of all the various heaping desserts the offer. My son got the campfire smore one. He wanted 3 scoops I said no way. 1. So I asked for the 1 scoop in a cone. The man said you total will be $10. I paused. Cried. And paid. This place is not cheap by any means. Remember that 1 scoop I mentioned? Well thank goodness we only got one. When the man handed me the cone, I almost needed a forklift to pick it up. Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating but it does has some heft. The heavenly cone bed consisted of a home made waffle, blow torched marshmallow cream sprinkled with gram cracker dust and deep below was a almost a fudge like chocolate ice cream scoop. 1 scoop could be good for 2 people. After eating some I felt guilt, and pleasure at the same time. Also, a little bit of a diabetic shock. This was all expected though. And worth it. Everything was absolutely delicious and home made. I think Milk craft is pretty good, but not great. It's in a pretty easy to get to location and some options, each of them either of a combination of flavors or a new take on one of them. They are pretty good, I've never thought it was particularly good, and have never been caught off guard by anything I've ever had here. So everyone is talking about Milkcraft and we've heard a lot of hype about this place, so we decided to go over today and give them a try. Alright so you guys know that I can be pretty honest when it comes to reviews and I was so wanting to like this place I really was. When we arrived I was impressed by the place actually it's really cute inside and then my hope was dashed. I will start with the positives about Milkcraft: The place is clean, very clean and the staff and there was a lot of them because we were there at noon on a weekday and no one was in there. Standing behind the counter where about 10 young adults and an older woman. They were all nice cheerful and seemed pretty happy. It took me a few minutes to figure out how to order and then I figured just ask for the s'more it looks good in everyone's pictures and so I ordered the s'mores. Then in a puff of billowy white smoke my ice cream creation began it's life. Now this is cool and if you have kids boy will they enjoy the entire process of how they make the ice cream right before your eyes. The smell.. the place smells fantastic and I mean fantastic it's surpasses the smell of your random bakery and it really makes you want that ice cream. The bubble cone it had is amazingness and it's whomp whomp moments so I have to add the cone to both the good and the bad list. Now on to the Negatives: The price oh my GOD the price $10 for a s'more bubble cone $10 dollars that's like 2 gallons of ice cream from the grocery store. Way to overpriced and honestly if you are going there with kids or have a huge family just keep it moving and head over to your local dairy queen/king/ or dip dot place. The faux marshmallow they give you. Yea it looks good, it looks really good especially if you have a weak spot for roasted marshmallows and heck I use my ghetto campfire to roast marshmallows as often as possible. And if you don't know what a ghetto campfire is it's my stove. Anyway, I was looking forward to eating that damn marshmallow and took a bite of a gummy bear or at least that's what it tasted like it was a hard tasteless gummy bear. The ice cream itself, it was just chocolate ice cream for a s'more cone I would have expected some graham crackers added into it or something but nope it was just basic chocolate ice cream. They did put something that I'm assume was supposed to be graham crackers on top but turned out to be a dusting of crystallized sugar. The bubble cone the taste was delicious it's basically a waffle folded up and shoved into a paper container. If it tasted good why is it on the bad list? Well, it was good but it was floppy, mushy, and cold. They could have made it better if it was crisp or even on the warmer side. Honestly it was the only part of the ice cream I ate a few bites of. The spoons, oh Milkcraft for God's sake please invest in some real spoons. Those are not real spoons they are miniature teaser spoons because if I was intending to eat the entire ice cream, which I didn't, there is no way I could have used that spoon to get to the bottom of my cone. In the end I actually threw out almost the entire ice cream it was in my opinion an expensive novelty. Definitely not worth the ride or the $10 price tag on the ice cream.
