Know this before you come here: All ice-cream is made in the house! I hope that was enough to have you bookmark this place. If you don't see yourself around this side of town, perhaps an incentive to do so is Changing Hands Bookstore which is a mere 5 minutes away. (I wrote a review on it previously, cute store with a bar in the middle!) With that, you get to check out two gems in one go! Reading the menu, you'll know immediately that Milk Run is unlike any other boba places. They actually use real milk in their drinks and desserts instead of the more typical non-dairy creamers and that is manifested in the creaminess of their ice-cream. I ordered two scoops - strawberries and cream an taro - and they came out absolutely heavenly. The flavors did not taste artificial and they had actual strawberry pieces which made for a tangier finish but not any less delicious. We also had some of their Vietnamese sea salt coffee that came with the traditional condensed milk (yum!) and a unique sea salt cream. You may want to stir it all before you start drinking or else you'll end up with a really salty drink in your last sips! Needless to say, I am hooked and eager to come back and try their other flavors. One of my friends also informed me of a cart full of board games (which I didn't notice because of the crowds) which I also look forward to checking out! Lines get long so be sure to come here during less busy hours and not only that, they also have limited parking spaces and it's never fun to have to circle around several times while praying something opens up...or even worse, park elsewhere and walk here. Legitimately some of the best milk tea I've had outside of Asia (disclaimer: I didn't try their tapioca pearls this time around). I LOVE the concept of milk tea + ice cream ("milk tea float"). A bonus is that all of their ice cream is made in-house! And they have amazing flavors and combos. However, I wanted to mix and match my milk tea float rather than get the same flavor of tea and ice cream. I got their classic milk tea with Vietnamese coffee which paired well and worked great together. The milk tea tasted really authentic -- definitely as though they brewed the tea from high quality tea leaves. The Vietnamese coffee ice cream, though great, didn't remind me of Vietnamese coffee. Although the coffee flavor was strong, it lacked the sweetness and creaminess I associate with Vietnamese coffee (which is made with condensed milk after all). Instead, the ice cream was icy and there was small bits of coffee ground that gave it a grainy texture. The shop isn't located in the best area of town but was well worth the detour I made to visit. The workers offered me ice cream samples even after I had ordered my drink. I can attest that the matcha and black sesame ice creams are A+ and not artificially sweet or flavored. Came in on a Saturday and the place was packed. Line to the door and almost all of the tables were full. We passed several kids taking instagrams on our way in as well. That being said... yes the drinks are pretty and they have a good aesthetic inside. Service was good. For being packed they were quick to take orders and the drinks didn't take long either. We got the original milk tea with honey boba and the AZ Sunset. The milk tea was pretty good but a little on the sweet side and the AZ sunset was good if you really like passionfruit and mango iced tea (not to mention it was pretty). For $1.50 more you can get a glass bottle (16oz) instead of a normal plastic cup. They also have another size bigger if you skip the bottle. They're cute and you can return with a bottle for 10% off your next drink if you want to frequent this place. Overall it's a cute shop. They also have ice cream and they can makes floats with them which I've never seen before. Be prepared for it to be crowded though, it's definitely an experience. read more

I'm lactose intolerant so I usually run when I see the word MILK. Since it is located next to my favorite Pho spot I slipped right in to check the place out. It's actually pretty trendy considering the neighboring establishments. I was surprised by the variety of options they have to choose from. It is more than MILK it's some of the hottest drinks and ice cream. Since I don't do dairy they had options for me. I'm hooked on the Vegan Chocolate ice cream. So hooked the four times I stopped in I always walk out with one. You can upgrade on your cone or be boring and place it in a cup. There sugar cones are tasty. Next time in I'm bound to try something else. A woman walked past me with a fancy mango Chile drink that looked fruity and refreshing. The service is always friendly. The place is clean. Was trying to find a boba spot that was centrally located and found this one conveniently next to the pho place I was ordering food from. The service was fairly fast considering it was during quarantine. I was able to call from the parking lot and quickly hop in to get my boba drink. I would say the drink is good but not amazing. Few things - they used crushed ice for their drinks which I am not 100% opposed to but if you're getting a milk tea drink, doesn't do the drink justice because the ice quickly waters down the tea. Secondly, I do wish they used the boba sealers for the drinks opposed to regular plastic covers to prevent spillage. All in all, the service was good, the boba was pretty decent but would I say it's not the best? Probably not, but thankfully I can come here for any time I do want boba. read more

I was in the area and thirsty, so I decided to make a milk (tea) run! The shop is in the same plaza as an Asian grocery store and a Vietnamese restaurant. They offer a pretty good variety of milk tea, smoothies, iced fruity drinks and desserts such as mangonadas, and ice cream. I debated for a bit on what to get. Mangonada or Nutella milk tea? Ultimately my Nutella cravings won and I went with a 16 oz. with almond milk and honey boba. The interior is light and cheery, with a door connecting Milk Run to the neighboring Vietnamese restaurant. I like how you can opt for either almond or soy milk as non dairy options for your milk tea, and the price was reasonable. My tea was ready in a few minutes, in a cup with a snap-on plastic lid rather than the special bubble tea drink sealer. The taste was OK overall. I couldn't taste a lot of tea flavor but I did enjoy the ribbon of Nutella running through the drink. The inclusion of almond milk made it for a lighter tasting drink in creaminess and it wasn't super sugary which I appreciated. The honey boba was very soft and chewy. I've been here a few times last year but it was never a memorable moment. Everything I tried was just OK. Tried it again today and I was really impressed. We had the Vietnamese coffee which was delicious and an awesome tropical tea with fruit chunks. It has the perfect amount of flavor and sweetness. After trying so many new boba shops that have ridiculous prices, the price of these drinks were very reasonable, less than $4 for a large. I also have to mention, their shop has really cute decor with a wall of roses and my favorite light aqua chairs. I can't wait to come back again even though it's about an hour drive from our house. Update: We've been going here a lot and most of the drinks we tried were delicious. The strawberry mango green tea was really good with chunks of fruit inside and the Thai Tea was also fantastic. Taro ice cream is delicious and they were very generous on the serving. Unfortunately the Sea salt jasmine tea was pretty bland for me but they were very nice to let me exchange for something else. The AZ sunset was a gorgeous color drink but unfortunately it was way too sweet and tasted mainly of syrup. Other than that, I still really like this place. I went over the river and through the woods [or maybe just past all this concrete jungle we call Phoenix] to come here and I was kind of disappointed. Some drinks were too syrupy (AZ Sunset... even after I mixed it. My boba also made it too murky for Instagram lol), others were too sweet and artificial (Taro Milk Tea), and then some had no flavor at all (Matcha Milk Tea). I didn't get a chance to try the Taro Float but it looked great. I imagine it would be hard not to get Thai tea right. This place is fine if you want sugar and artificial flavor but I'm an old lady that actually likes tea. With so many tea shops in the east valley, I don't think I wanna settle for the powder stuff anymore. I do want to give them another chance. The Mangonada caught my eye! Came here on a Saturday night. Our visit started off pretty hectic because of the parking lot situation. There were a lot of cars pulling out, cars waiting around, and no spots within the parking lot itself. We ended up parking down the street, but know that there is a lot behind the buildings as well. As we walked in, the pho place connected to Milk Run was crazy packed. Milk Run itself was a bit busy, but not too crazy when we first arrived. They have everything on display to the side before you head to the counter to order. Their ice cream is all house made with a lot of yummy Asian flavors...Green tea, sesame, taro....and ONE vegan flavor! Happy that they even had an option! Their milk teas can be made with coconut, almond, or soy milk. I had the matcha green tea with grass jelly. It's on the sweeter side, but it was a good flavor. My partner had the vegan coconut ice cream, which was really good. The space is very charming. The tables were a bit sticky. But they had games to play in the corner of the shop. Staff was friendly. The drinks here look much better than they taste, and the wait was over 20 minutes after ordering just for 2 drinks. The price is about average ($5/drink) but I did not like how the lids allow drops of liquid to drip out from under the seal even once secured onto the cup. There is limited parking at this location and it is in a moderately dangerous area of Phoenix (I lived in the neighborhood for almost 2 years from 2012-2014 so yes I would know) and there were multiple homeless men outside the business, one in which was trying to intimidate me when I did not give him any spare change (I rarely carry cash or change so as much as I wanted to help I could not). I like to support local up and coming businesses; however the taste was lacking, the boba was average (tastes like pre-packaged/ previously frozen), wait was too long, and location was a huge deterrent. I will not be going back and will not recommend this place. Mekong plaza in Mesa has much better boba drinks. read more

OK...so, you really want bubble tea, so you searched on Yelp, trying to find that top rated place with solid reviews, yeah? Cool. Then you found the right place (and maybe the right review to read?!). I was in Phoenix with family for a weekend trip (did some of those touristy things), and everyone in the group really wanted bubble tea. So, like you, we checked out Yelp and found "Milk Run". When we arrived, the parking lot was full and to our delight, a pho joint was right NEXT door (we were also hangry). Just know that parking is a bit tricky, as the lot is small and street parking is really minimal (so expect to wait for parking). We actually ate at the pho joint (read my review on that place), then hit the bubble tea shop; which by the way, has an open door way inside between the shops (so you can avoid the wicked hotness outside during the summer months). You walk in and are immediately hit with all the smells and quickly see the ice cream counter (another surprise). On the left as you walk in, they have a digital menu board, along with daily deals and drinks of the day / month. We always get a classic milk tea anywhere we go, because you just have to, and added a mango, taro and a few scopes of ice cream (like sesame seed and matcha). We were definitely fans of the classic and the pearls were on point (not super duper chewy nor hard as marbles); with a slight hint of tea flavor and a punch of sweetness with the condense milk. The taro was last in the favorite category (was way too grainy, so they used powder). The ice cream seemed to be made on site, with real sesame seeds and tasty cones (gave extras to my little ones). For those that love to take selfies, they have a few Gram worthy photo walls with flowers and artwork. If you're from out of town or a local, hit this place up! read more

So my rating is closer to a 3.5, but I'm definitely rounding up to a 4.0 because of good service and how aesthetically pleasing the drinks are. I dropped in on Milk Run on a Saturday afternoon with an indecisive mind and a need for boba. I was initially leaning towards a split cup because I really wanted a milk tea or coffee and fruit tea. However, I was informed at the counter that only milk teas and coffees could be paired in the split cup. Typically, I try to go for one side fruit tea and one side milk tea when I grab a split cup. Since that option was clearly off the table, I decided to just get a regular Vietnamese sea salt coffee. Now the drink itself was great, a biiiit on the sweet side, but what can I say? It's Vietnamese coffee, aka sweetened condensed milk. I did get a chance to get a sip of the mango shaken iced tea with boba and it was pretty good! This place is great because they have ice cream, tea/coffee floats, instragram-able glass bottles, colorful shaken tea drinks, and cute miniature flamingo floats with certain drinks. However, the tea flavor is a bit masked by sweetness and ice and the boba itself is a bit too firm for my liking. If you want amazing pictures, you should definitely check this place out. If you want really good boba, then this may not be the place for you. read more

Boba , smoothies, slushies, coffee, sparklers, milk tea and milk tea floats along with some donuts. We tried the Milk Tea Float and Mango Berry Slushie. On a hot AZ day, the Milk Tea Float just did not seem cold enough, for me, I am not into boba or Milk Tea, but the Mango Berry Slushie was just the thing for me. Nice and cold with lots of berries mixed in with 2 large cut strawberries on top. Really hit the spot on a hot day. Possibly my favorite boba shop name - Milk Run! Too cute. Located in a tiny plaza that can be a bit busy with parking. Ice cream here is delicious. They were out of matcha so I wasn't able to try that one but their Thai tea ice cream was good. Their teas are kinda of on the blander side. Definitely not the best milk tea I've ever had. I got the Matcha Milk Tea and although it wasn't horrible, it was missing the matcha flavor. It was very light in flavor. If you find yourself on this side of town, try the ice cream! As I waited, I notice that the Vietnamese pho restaurant was attached to this very boba shop. I have eaten at the pho restaurant before so I know that it was very conenient to have both of these shops together. However, I'm here to try the boba today. To my surprise, the drink was very refreshing. It was sweet but not that sweet. It had a decent amount of boba and other fruits for me to eat. I spent a long time there enjoying my drink. So I wanted to like this place. I really did. A boba place right next door to a great Vietnamese place and Asian market right by my house? What's not to like? Evidently.... plenty. First off the, the location. Easy to find. Right be great food as aforementioned. Cute little space inside. Bright and vivid and a big fan of the pop art. Like many places, they had simple board games as well. Menu choices is the first drawback. You at first think it is a lot, but once you look at menu it isn't that many different flavor options. Outside the drinks, they have ice cream as well as donuts. I tried some of the ice cream flavors as a free sample offered by the employee, and the lucky charms and Vietnamese coffee were both pretty good. I ended up decided to get the Nutella milk tea in a glass bottle (10% off every time you use it). The milk tea was bland. The Nutella was poorly mixed in. It was just not the best milk tea I've ever had. I will come back again to give them another shot tho. Maybe it was an off day. Maybe it was my choice if drink. So from the outside this place doesn't look like anything special but it was VERY cute inside! They serve boba milk tea, tea floats, slushes, and ice cream. I ordered the Thai Milk Tea with Honey Boba - 25% sweet level and it was just the right amount of sweetness. Not overly sweet but still plenty sweet. The boba was tender and flavorful and I'm pretty picky when it comes to the tapioca boba! The only critique I have is that I would have liked if it had been chilled a little more so maybe if you like it super cold, you will want to ask for extra ice. Price point is very good! The boba was a bit softer than I normally prefer them, but I also like my boba a bit more al dente. The tea was tasty, not too sweet. So many things to like: 1) Asian ice cream flavors (TARO is creamy, Thai Tea tastes like the delicious drink, Matcha Green Tea is spot on; they also have non-dairy Piña Colada, Vietnamese coffee, mint chip, Madagascar Vanilla, and something called Cookie Monster, which I'm guessing is a mint/Oreo?) 2) Pretty and delicious drinks! Being from California, I would call this boba place mediocre. Lots of milk tea flavors, slushes and ice cream. Environment and games are fun too (but not really a touristy spot). Also, I enjoyed the split cup feature for when you can't decide what flavor to order. Matcha milk tea - yummy. Jasmine milk tea - can't go wrong with this flavor. Nutella milk tea - tasted like chocolate milk. Pineapple Mojito - refreshing, but wouldn't recommend it with a milk tea flavor in your split cup. I would order it again with another mojito flavor. As I get older, I no longer enjoy extravagant drinks such as boba or Frappuccinos, etc. Even a margarita can be too much sometimes. Yet, it must have been work today, some voodoo vibes in the atmosphere, the realistic possibility that the world is ending soon (balloons being shot down, chemicals being released into the air in Ohio again, government starting hidden wars on its people, earthquakes rumbling, etc) but I had a craving for a drink of the decadent variety. Milk run is the closest boba place near me. Recalled that I have had a few positive experiences here before. Needed a boost so I ordered the Vietnamese coffee float with almond milk. Got there, my drink is not ready but not for a bad reason. They suspected that I may want some form of ice cream in the drink that is not cow dairy based since I opted out whole milk for almond milk. Very thoughtful and considerate. On any other day I would have greatly appreciated it. Today was not the day. Regardless I politely and respectfully advised that I want my drink how I ordered it (ordered online so obviously I was able to review every customizable option). It was anything too involved. It literally was them needing to add a scoop of ice cream and a lid. I was simply stressed for time. And don't come at me with the whole "be more chill, have patience." I knew I'd be stressed for time, hence the foresight to online order ahead of time. Anywho, to cap the experience off, the drink was mediocre. It was not terrible and I still finished it. I've been wanting to go here because of the concept of milk tea and icecream together, which is something I havent tried before. Overall, I really liked my drink (Jasmine Milk Tea with Matcha Icecream) since I could really taste that flowery flavor of Jasmine which paired really well with the bitter yet sweet Matcha icecream. Taro was nice too, didn't have any trace of powder. One thing I didnt like though was the size of the ice chunks added in the drink. I get that they're probably there to maintain the coldness of the icecream, but it got in the way of eating the icecream with a spoon since most of the time I was essentially chewing on ice lightly covered with Matcha.
