The first time I went in to this store was a few weeks ago and there was the 125th anniversary of Mill Valley party going on outside. Fun! Inside the store, there was a closing sale. I tried on a pair of shoes and a dress. My friends also shopped around. This is a very high end shop with New York energy. I loved the dress and bought it. I loved the shoes and as I tried them on asked my friend what she thought, she didn't love them as much as me and the store salesperson said, if you don't love them don't get them. I appreciated that and ended up with just the dress. Well, I happened to be in Mill Valley today and it's been a couple weeks since the event. I went back to see if the shoes were there and if other shoes might also be on sale. As soon as I entered, from out of the back, the same salesperson acknowledged me and literally followed me with his eyes on everything I went near-boots, dresses, pants. He kept commenting on everything and didn't stop. It was really uncomfortable. I really loved a pair of black stacked boots, but at 50% off $658 of last pair in my size, I felt his energy was too much for me just wanting a calm no pressure experience. Wow! This person responded and lied about how long ago I bought the dress. No dude! I didn't buy it 15 years ago. Less than half that time! And don't come here writing like you're a saint. Because you people are monsters!! I explained below how you treated me when I went in showing you the complete and horrible low quality of your merchandise. DO NOT BOTHER WITH THIS PLACE! These people are crazy. Their rudeness, their aggressive behavior is off the charts. This is a couple that obviously has not worked on themselves at all. They can't deal with anything at all except taking your money. I bought a beautiful dress quite a while ago and had never worn it - it actually still has the tag. I wanted to put it on a couple of days ago. And when I got it out, it started shedding like crazy. The leather part was flaking completely. I went to the store expecting first an apology, and I was hoping I could get some kind of store credit. I paid over $300 bucks for it! I didn't expect the full price, but I figured it was only fair to get some kind of store credit in order to purchase something else. Well, these monsters threw me out of the store and threatened to call the police if I didn't leave. Unreal! They took no responsibility whatsoever. The staff at Mili's in Mill Valley, California was extremely rude and unwelcoming. I was sorting through the racks and suddenly one of the staff began repositioning every piece as she stood beside me with an air of disgust. When I got to the third section, I told her that she was making me feel uncomfortable. I did not say this but it felt like as if you're eating in a restaurant and they're vacuuming under your table while you're eating. She then replied that I was moving merchandise in a way that would put too much weight on one side. I said," OK I understand you concern "but she continued despite my effort to move things less. I then asked where something was and she pointed to a general direction and offered no help. She never smiled. She never made eye contact. She effectively made me so uncomfortable that I left the store. As I left, she and the man behind the counter YELLED, " you're welcome". I stopped in my tracks shocked and turned around and went back in. I asked if they were talking to me? They loudly said yes and accused me of being (are you ready for this), "aggressive with the clothes"! What? I was moving each piece aside to see the next. I told them I have worked in retail throughout my life and have never experienced treatment like theirs. She replied," then you should know better, you were not respectful to our clothes." What? They were both arrogant, rude and disrespectful. I have never experienced treatment such as this in a retail setting in my life . However upon searching the reviews here I see this is a pattern for them. I would never set foot in there again or advise anybody else to. read more

I will never ever again shop at Mili or recommend anyone to shop there.... I bought a Jacket from them a week ago, after showing it to friends I decided that it really makes me look old. So I tried to return it after a week with all the tags attached there and no sign of wear and tear. They did not take it back !!!!!!!!!! Apparently one day late and because he gave me 10% and a big lie about holding it for a week. He called it three strike as if it is a criminal charge against this purchase. I have worked in boutiques for many years and had never have an experience like that. It is uncalled for. For some reason, even though I have lived in Mill Valley for years, it has taken me a long time to walk into Mili across from the Depot. I am SO glad I did. With the help and learned eye of the owner, I spent a few hours going through a slew of fun, comfortable, hip clothing that I have needed for years but could not find in San Francisco, LA, or New York. I especially appreciate the versatile jackets that can also be worn as tops. And the price points are respectable but reasonable! My only issue was what to leave behind in the dressing room as I truly wanted it all. I am excited to find such a treasure trove in my own back yard. Thank you, Mili! read more

I just read some of the reviews but never found it necessary to post anything but this this I will! I bought a few items and really liked them but one tee I already had it in the same color so I decided to exchange it, the owner said several times that they don't do refund so I decided to exchange for an other color, the owner immediately said you wore and washed it although the ticket was on it, she said it smells like washing powder the only explanation i can give is that I put it with my other clothes in my closet! In all the years that I shopped I never encountered such a unwelcome customer service but as I see on the reviews i am not the only one ! The owners of Mili operate with zero integrity. I recently purchased a $1000 coat which completely came apart after two weeks of infrequent wear: seams separating, buttons coming off, black zipper finish exposing the metal beneath. Because I was in Europe, I was only able to get back to the store just five short weeks after purchase. Upon trying to exchange the coat, Mili initially refused to speak to me, or exchange the coat, though she had one available in the store. I simply, respectfully, asked for an exchange, not a refund, which would have been completely warranted. Following my shockingly unpleasant, hopeless interaction with Mili, she passed me off to her aggressive and very rude husband, Paul, who proceeded to simply shout at me repeatedly about store policy. I pointed out they actually have no store policy for an item falling apart within five weeks of purchase, and two weeks of occasional wear. Though they eventually agreed to fix the coat, upon picking it up, the 2.5 foot replacement zipper, which is the center piece of the coat, was copper in hue, not flat black, or of the simple elegance as purchased. Pointing this out to Paul incited a complete repeat of his antagonistic, rude behavior and continued accusation that it's the customer's problem, given store policy. A $1000 coat of quality could not possibly fall apart from customer wear and tear in this short timeframe, and the responsibility to decently, politely exchange the coat resided with Mili & Paul. Still does. On a good day, it's not worth one penny patronizing this place (or Paul's shoe store next door), on a bad day, a real travesty and sad testament of human behavior and lack of integrity. read more

Fantastic designer clothing that I have not found in other stores. Joseph Ribicoff and Isabel de Pedro designs are flattering and timeless. You can wear them for years as they are so well constructed. The staff is always very helpful and knows what will look good on me before I do. Plus they always welcome my border collie! Nice clothes. Owners void of kindness, thoughtfulness, integrity, understanding. First thing you should know....They don't exchange anything after a week--even if it's just to swap sizes. They don't stand by their merchandise either. Bought a $500 dress and the zipper doesn't work. Owner told me that I must have done something to the dress. Save yourself the $1500 you're likely to drop in this store--and take it someplace that knows something about customer service and appreciates your business. read more

Bought a pair of shoes touted as extremely comfortable .Turned out not to be the case. Tried to return for store credit on day 14, not knowing they have a 7 day return policy! I actually did try to return them a couple of times within the 7 day period, but both times there are signs on door saying "call the other location" because no one is here. This happens a lot at this place--- three stores and one person to juggle between them. Totally unreasonable return policy. Not very nice to work with either. It's a shopping experience for me that includes chatting with the amazing owner and her employees, while receiving excellent service. This is one of the best kept secrets in the Bay Area! I found this store a little over a year ago and now make special trips from SF...just to shop this store. It has unique beautiful clothing that you cannot find any where else outside of Europe. But more important is the keen eye of the owner who once she knows your style will pick out things for you that you wouldn't expect and they look great on! I am so disappointed in Mili and the level of customer service. These are cool clothes which are extremely pricey, but worth it to me because I like the way they fit and look. I purchased a few things 4-6 months ago and wore a pair of pants and a top from "McPlanet" about 4 times. I was so bummed because I just noticed there is a large hole in one of the sleeves of the top where the over-stitching frayed the material, and the stitching around the button-hole of the pants came completely unraveled leaving the raw edge exposed. This is not acceptable for $300 pants and $150 tops. I brought the items in, fully expecting Mili to do the right thing, whether that means contacting the manufacturer or offering to have them repaired or offering an exchange. In no uncertain terms, she said she can't be responsible for how people treat their clothes and she has a 7 day policy. I was stunned. I won't go back- it's not worth it if the clothes fall apart after you wear them a few times--trust me I take good care of my clothes. read more
