Review on the selling process: Brought bags of items to the store and they took 80% of my items. I agree that the service isn't warm and fuzzy, but I didn't think they were rude either. I received an itemized list, via email, of my items, and received checks when items sold. You can also ask for your items to be returned to you after the 60 day period. I think some of the items were missing (not sold, but not returned to me), but as I was going to donate the remaining items to Goodwill, it didn't bother me much. I didn't want to have the hassle of posting on Buy nothing and I also wanted my items to reach a new home since they were in good shape (instead of ending up in a rag bin). I really didn't get much money back relative to the value of the items, but it was convenient and easy. I think they do look for more recognizable designer labels, and you shouldn't expect warm service. Otherwise, my overall experience was fair. read more

I brought a once-worn pair of gray suede shoes from France, size 40.5 (9.5) made in France, not Spain, Brazil etc. However, the buyer sniffed at them and turned them down- clearly didn't recognize the brand name even though it caters to a lot of VIPs over the pond. Snooty shop owner. I took several "designer label" men's items from Macy's to be looked at. All (in my opinion) beautiful and they were all practically new items. Totally understood what was meant when the owner said, "these are from Macy's!" and then looked through me. She couldn't get me out of there fast enough! NOT wanting my clothes wasn't the issue. You may find that the prices here are on the higher side for used clothing, but the condition of the items are worth the upgrade plus there are a handful of designer brands that would be way over my budget if they were brand new. The ladies here are always helpful and merchandise is organized well so you're not having to dig through racks haphazardly. I feel like the bad reviews are either from people selling their clothes or people expecting boutique service at a tiny consignment shop. I got 3 pairs of jeans in great condition that are $250~ retail (mother, l'agence, frame), and a brand new Everlane cashmere sweater for $200. There were some pieces that I wouldn't have paid the price for, but that's just shopping in general... right? You don't have to buy the overpriced thing. Some items had stains but again, it's a consignment shop. The lady at the counter wasn't coddling me or kissing my a$$ but she was friendly, made sure I didn't have too many things in my hands so I could keep shopping. The younger person working near the fitting rooms was nice and helpful. I didn't check out the 3333 location yet but I'm looking forward to it! They were in a really sad state and when Iw walked into goodbyes saw a pair of gorgeous Gucci shoes for $80. They were in very good shape and I've always loved the weight and feel of a good pair of shoes. I don't usually write reviews, this is about the staff. The person responsible for the selection of the clothes is very rude. She doesn't have manner. Each time I have been there she is always very brusque and ungracious. You feel like you don't want to go there anymore. My friends and I (very cultivated and travelers people) keep asking ourself how very expensive and refined clothes bought and made in Italy don't look good to her. The selection looks pretty the same every time I stop by. Other great styles are not even considered. I have been working in fashion and this is hard to understand. You want something new (or that looks like new) for not a lot of cash & a great, edited selection of designer brands (Kate Spade, Loro Piana, Armani, St. John, Trina Turk) look no further than Goodbyes. I've always enjoyed good service and the dressing room is more like your girlfriend's place where you can ask total strangers, "How does this look on me? Is it too tight here? Is the color a little off" and get a second opinion. The only caveat is most of the amazing shoes (including Manolo Blahnik) are usually in teeny sizes. The apparel, however, runs the gamet of size 2 to zaftig so there's something here for everyone. read more

This is a pretty big store, and they have a complete men's only storefront across the street which is great. I just have problems with the staff like a lot of other reviewers have touched on as well. The store is INCREDIBLY tight - they really didn't arrange it well at all as the rows are only wide enough for one person to go through. If you need to pass someone, you end up having to lean into the clothes and hangers which is a turn off. The shoes are arranged on shelves on both sides of a narrow hallway. You have to get through this hallway to get to the changing rooms, so there are always people running into each other here - and to make matters worse, the dressing room attendant stands around the entrance to the hallway so you are always going to have to navigate around her and the rest of the people stuck in the hallway. The women who run the shop yell at each other a lot which is uncomfortable. The workers also yell at you if you walk in with a large bag without checking it. A lot of consignment stores make you check your bag, but the other stores do it with more grace, whereas Goodbyes' staff just yells indoors "BAG - CHECK YOUR BAG!". I wanted to like this place because I like the wide selection of designer brands and the fairly decent prices, but it's so anxiety inducing inside that I just can't go anymore! read more

I really do like this store; however, my rating has gone down rather quickly because of the customer service received. My sister lives in the North Bay and she was very excited to check out the store. I took her there on a Monday evening at around 5:40. We had twenty minutes to check things out because the sign outside indicted that closing time is at 6:00......so we thought! Once we entered, we had the two ladies tell us to hurry up..closing in ten minutes! Ten minutes went by and I tried on a pair of jeans while my sister wandered through the isles. They started turning the lights off and told her to hurry up. I got out of the room and overheard this and could tell my sister was not impressed with the attitude we received. Basically, RUDE! Look ladies....you owe it to your employers to provide top notch customer services and you could miss out on a sale. Considering their whole business is from consigners I'm shocked people still sell items here to keep them in business. I called to follow up on a few items and let them know I wanted to regain them since they didn't sell. I was told that they are too busy right now because there's a sale going on and I need to call back on Monday (2days from now). Today I recieved their 16th Annual Winter Sale Invite Starting Jan 5th. I moved in June and the P.O. still hasn't figured it out . Nice And Guys.. They have Lot's For the Guys As Well ...So stay with me. So the scoop is I shop here twice a year and always end up buying a great pair of pants or a jacket in the $50 - $150 range (Armani,). Clothing may be new but didn't sell in their stores and/ or slightly older and probably never worn or slightly worn and a designer brand. They're selective as to what they take in as I consigned with them when I moved. If anything had a spot on it they wouldn't even consider it. They have a Mens store stocked with a solid selection of jackets and raincoats that I secretly try on in hopes of a fit ! A Girl in her guys shirt equals sexy because there isn't anything sexier than a girl in her boyfriends clothes. oui, but of course . Generally when I'm in the mood to run over to Sacramento Street. I hit all the different consignment shops with great bargains. But beware Sacramento Street can be hazardous to your checkbook. Bargains are here to be found for men and women and home. I went in to goodbuys yesterday for the very first time.I had my two daughters with me 7 and 2 years old. Ok I am very aware of certain parents that allow their kids to run wild and be spoiled brats,but I know better! I went in with my girls, they were holding each others hands standing next to me. 5 seconds in to my visit...... I guess they were leaning to close to the clothes when this woman comes stomping in to our isle screaming don't do that!! I did not realize she was talking to us because I turned around and saw my girls right next to me. So I was sure it wasn't us but when she was close enough she reached over and grab my oldest arm and continue to scream at them. My oldest got this look on her face like she was about to cry. my youngest ran away scared. I stood there looking at this in astonishment! I really did not know what to do. So I gathered my girls up and walked out. After thinking about this Incident for the rest of the day. I was angry at myself for not standing up to this woman and protecting my kids from this vicious attack. I was truly just amazed this has never happened to me before.I just couldn't understand but after reading many reviews I was puzzled to realize that this woman is a terror and yet continues to run a business. I guess you don't have to be much of a people person to run a business. But I'll tell you one thing I will never set foot in that store again even if they paid me. Goodbuys and Goodluck. I've shopped at Goodbuys for years and it is so not the store it was years ago. First of all the store has become old and boring. The owner (warden )) and her staff (PRISON MATRONS ) seem only to care about one thing .That you check your purse or bag at the door. Even real small ones ( wait a minute I might want to stuff that old musty used Burberry trenchcoat in my clutch bag or change purse. It's even became a running joke at other stores in the area. I have consigned with them many years and mostly common brands. I have to say, one bad dealing set back all the money I have made there and plus more. I sent my Gucci coat there after I took it back from a high-end consigner store. For a reason that was unclear to me at the time, the Japanese woman who accepted my coat at the beginning rejected it later & left me an unclear message. I called many times in attempts to reach her, but she never took the effort to call back and later the coat was "donated." The sequence of calling involved other staff, obviously no one bother to follow up not just that Japanese woman. I didn't know it was rejected, until months later when I went there to collect other left over consignment. At the end, they told me that the coat had an anti-thief pin on, so they couldn't accept it. I didn't even know it had. The lesson I learn is that, the contract I signed says that any lost, stolen, missing, & a result of a donation is not the responsibility of the store. However, I have experiences with other stores, which have the same conditions in their contracts. The difference is that those high-end stores have very thorough followups with their customers. I got a call from that high-end consignment store I mentioned earlier, which made sure that I would go to pick up my Gucci coat. One of my friends loves consignment shops, so I went with her just to hang out. I am not a fan of these type of stores at all, mainly because I'm a chub and they usually never have anything cool above a size 8-10. Lucky for me, they actually had a decent looking size 12 section and at least they had some size 14 clothing too. I found the cutest, prettiest navy with whit polka dot dress for only $30! I love this dress because it is the perfect length and style. Even though size 12 is a little snug on me, I pulled off wearing it that night at dinner. I'm going to work out some more and come back here in the fall and hope to find more cute size 12 items. Oh, and the staff are awesome - very nice and friendly! Not pretenious at all. Two months ago my friend and I went all over town to every crossroads within the city to sell our clothes. Our last stop was at the fillmore store and a customer there recommended I goto Goodbyes for the high end stuff I had with me. When we got to the mens store... the lady told me I had to have a minimum of 8 items to sell... and at the time I only had three things. So a few days later I came back with another friend that brought stuff as well. I had 12 items but my friend only had five. The lady took all my items and all of his five! I remembered them telling me it was a minimum of five items... but I decided to dismiss it because they didn't deny my friend of consigning with them. After dropping the clothes off I came on yelp to read some reviews regarding Goodbyes. There's a lot of good reviews... but there are bad reviews that really stood out that got me nervous about this place... especially the part of reclaiming items and they end up getting donated. During the two month period they sold 8 out of 12 items. I liked how the checks came in the mail with the listed items sold. Goodbyes has a policy that you must contact them 7 days in advance to reclaim any clothes that were not sold or they will automatically donate them. As I said above... this is the part that made me nervous. I was scared they would say I never contacted them and it would be gone. But instead of calling them on the phone I emailed Goodbyes to the email address that they had emailed me the list of items I had given them to sell. I got a response the same day from Goodbyes regarding the date to come get my reclaim. I picked up my unsold items yesterday with no problem. This is my first time selling my clothes with them and the transaction was smooth. I do want to come back as a buyer since it looks like there are some stuff that I may like to purchase! Now I just need to find another consignment place to take the rest of the stuff that didn't sell at Goodbyes!!! read more

I'm very disappointed in this store. Perhaps my fault, but I wasn't made aware of the process that they will donate your goods if you don't pick them up. They will NOT contact you to give you a notice. I have "donated" some very good items due their lack of communication. Very disappointed. Plus, I brought in some good jeans for consignment. If I had known they were going to sell them for $40, I wouldn't have dropped them off. read more
