I would call Reliquary a showcase of pretty things for pretty people. The store's footprint is fairly ample. Picture a large, rectangular space where one could twirl like a dervish at not knock into anything. The till/display counter is found along the left-hand side of the shop toward the back. The lone employee on the day I visited was also to be found there scrolling through things on the internet. I'd come in looking for a particular jeweler's work. Eventually, I made my way to the sales person and asked if they were a stockist for so-and-so. The employee answered in the affirmative at about the same time as I spied the jewelry in question. The employee neither offered to show me any of the items under glass nor shared much about the jeweler's technique. (Never mind, I had done my homework before coming in, so was well-versed in the methods of this particular artist.) The selection in question was tidy, so I asked if the jewelry maker also makes custom work. The response was: 'Well, they can't make you whatever they want, but...' Um, what? If I'm asking after a Picasso, then why would I expect it to look like a Chagall? Also: If the store only stocks ruby and sapphire rings in size 7, or whatever, and I'd like a ring only fashioned with rubies in a size 9, then that's called 'custom'. (Unless, of course, the artist has a cache of exactly what I'd like located in an atelier somewhere.) In short, the shop is pretty as a postcard, but the customer service is fairly paltry. Be prepared to do most of the verbal footwork during the interaction, if you do decide to make the journey in to Reliquary. read more

They have nice things but it is beyond disappointing to endure service this poor. It's really not hard to be kind, and she can't seem do that- Buyers beware and owners take note. Agree with assessments on customer service which is unnecessarily poor. I came in excited that they carry DS & Durga as that perfume is hard to find and promptly began to smell each one as I do not want to pay $195 for a bottle that does not compliment my scent. While still standing in front of said bottles trying to make a decision, the male cashier came behind me and immediately began to fix each bottle and straighten them as if I were an inconvenience and had just ruined their look. He also sighed in the process as if I were an ornery child. I was thinking of purchasing the Crystal Pistil scent but the actions of the cashier convinced me to walk out and not return. This place is major joke. I've bought jewelry here several times... while service is sometimes okay... the employees kinda need customer service training. First off the employees were trying clothes on talking about themselves and bodies and completely ignoring everyone in the store. After one customer tried some jewelry on and left without buying stuff the employee made jokes about that customer. I was completely shocked at theses girls... I decided not to buy anything and left. I've been in here about 4 times and have dropped $$$$ ... this is last time I will ever come in here in. A well curated collection of new and vintage clothes and accessories. I found the vintage cool girl bermuda shorts of my dreams. The main reason I'm writing is in support of the store and staff. A visitor took offense to multiple requests to maintain 6 ft distance and caused quite an outburst - one that was personal, emotional, and very accusatory. The staff handled it well and with grace (and still managed to make a sale). Thank you for enforcing an environment of safety in your store. Elitist gentrification is alive and well here. Since I am not older, more wealthy looking, or more feminine looking, I was kicked out of the store accused of stealing. I am originally from SF and was very excited to check out this local store specifically for the DS and Durga fragrances as Ive lived in NY for the last five years and grew to really love their products. I was happily wearing a mask and complied with all instructions (they were asking me to not temporarily move my mask to smell the testing strips as it was hard to smell through the mask). When I turned to the kind person helping me I explained that I don't really think its necessary to require people walk in and out of the store just to smell the testing strips, the owner angrily YELLED at me accusing me of SHOPLIFTING saying I was too poor too young and since the shop had many female items and I am a male assumed I must be there to shoplift and slammed the door in my face closing the store 10 minutes early (I had been there browsing their fragrances for about 20 minutes and was cash ready). I have no idea why she claimed I was shoplifting and I have no problem with the mask mandate and was respectfully sharing how inconvenient their policy was for the shopping experience. The girl who helped me however was very kind and understanding and handled the situation very well, thank you for being more mature than your employer! read more

I stopped in for my first time today and ended up buying a comfy, linen jumper. I have the read other reviews about the sales associates being rude. They were very quiet but when I started to engage them in conversation they were friendly. Here's the thing, customer service is hard work. You have to deal with a lot of rude customers who treat you like garbage. If you want others to be friendly, show yourself friendly. Check it and out and break the tension with a kind word. I felt like we were an inconvenience when we came in - the SF boutique attitude found in a lot of small shops is a little much sometimes...definitely sets the tone to not want to purchase. However, we gave it a chance. Some of the jewelry was intriguing, I took a long look yet didn't want to bother the gal that was there to open. Might have been helpful to ask me if I'd like to see something? The assortment of premium small company perfumes/colognes was excellent. The clothes/boots...also a lot of character. Unique finds! The other thing that made this place feel a little odd was this strange sense of inauthenticity/gimmicky of American traditional wear and decor. We are in San Francisco...the Native American stuff just felt odd. To each their own...I can totally see how someone would love this place. I'm so happy this shop opened in my neighborhood! The staff is always SO cool and very helpful. My dog is almost always with me when I go in. Each time I go in they ask if they can give him a treat. As a result my dog knows this shop is the "treat" spot and tries to run in every time we walk by on the way to the park. The store is really well decorated, the clothes perfectly curated, the staff always helpful but not in your face. I've had someone take out what felt like every necklace in the case for me to play with and she never seemed annoyed. She had tons of info on each piece and seemed to love playing with the jewelry as much as I did. Last night I went in on a whim because I saw a sale sign. I purchased some shorts I had been watching that were marked down. While trying on the shorts the girl working in the store was casually chatting about the brand I was purchasing and w/o really pushing me to buy I found myself actually interested in what she was saying. I tried on the jeans she had been raving about and BAM! They WERE totally RAD! So I purchased the full price jeans along with my sale shorts. WIN! read more

I wanted to commend the customer service at Reliquary. I had purchased a pretty ring assuming it was in the $200 range and didn't bother to look at the amount nor heard the clerk say the total. When I got home, I was flabbergasted that it was $2400! I wanted to cry. I went the next day and explained the situation. The clerk contacted the owner and she approved the return. The store policy is for exchanges or store credit only. She extended the courtesy for this one time and I REALLY appreciate it! Thank you so much! Please visit this lovely store! Small, well-curated collection of clothing, both new and vintage. It's a little pricey (starts around $60, goes up to mid $300s), but I've bought a couple of things on sale that were marked down to something I could afford. They have a cool collection of jewelry and accessories as well, most of it in the $100-200 range. Nice (also cute) shop dude. I saw this sweet cardigan with embroidered mallard ducks on it during my first visit to the store that I will always regret not buying, because it was gone the next time I went. read more

Love this little shop. They have very well selected clothings, jewelries and little fun objects.

They do have lovely clothing, but their customer service is pretty poor. I've been in three times, and each time no one even says hello when I walk in. It seems as though they do not care at all if they have customers in the shop. The only time an employee even interacted with me is when I was trying on a jacket and she looked over and mumbled "cute." It was too little too late, and although I thought about buying the jacket, the rudeness of the staff turned me off to it. read more

this is a remarkably well curated shop with a distinctive and authentic point of view - the reason why one follows or remains loyal to such a place. and definitely worth a visit. i visit here often and have made some fine purchases. their sales are excellent. unfortunately i do agree with some of the other comments here about the customer service, which is spotty. having great merchandise is only one aspect of a successful enterprise. a warm welcome and friendly service is equally important and i've had the unpleasant experience of encountering haughty and even rude attitudes from the sales staff here. it does sour the visit. the blonde gent who works here is always professional and nice, but others have been cold, abrupt and decidedly unwelcoming. too bad. i will continue to shop here but can't give it an outstanding rating at this time. read more

I stumbled upon this new addition to the Hayes Valley on a dreary, overcast soon-to-rain-day. Not knowing what this store was about, as I noticed it was new to the block, I was pulled in by their beautiful window dressing! Once inside, I was mesmerized by the funky, americana, unusual feel of it. I noticed that some of the clothing ( nicely vintaged) had their store label sewn inside. The other mix of clothing was new cool labels from not common brands. They also had very interesting and unusual accessories-jewelry that had an American Indian meets vintage slant, very cool handbags ( some vintage) and wonderful hats. The owners have a keen eye for design and style. The prices on the new clothing seemed a bit steep, but the wonderful vintage items I thought would not leave you starving. Lot's of interesting jewelery here. I spied vintage rings (art deco, rose gold, garnet, etc) which were lovely. Also lot's of beaded jewelery, turquoise ,and some Native American themed items. There is a 50-60% rack that is quite nice and the remainder of the store is your typical higher end boutique-y casual wear separates. 5 months new and worth checking out. read more

I've come in here twice and I like their aesthetic. I think the prices are very high, but I think they're in the right neighborhood for people to blow money on things they might not "need." Since I only buy (new) American made clothes for myself every 10 to 15 years or so, I don't feel at all bad about having spent many (many) hundreds of unexpected dollars in here today. No exaggeration: the last time I bought *any* new clothing at a boutique was in Chicago in 2002. Otherwise, I sew and knit and buy at flea markets and such, and my spending money just sits and waits for finds like these. And I'm so glad it did. If you're just into fabric, and texture, you will LOVE this place. Gigi, who works here, will help you find things that work for YOU. I tried on plenty that didn't, and some that did. I loved that I felt zero pressure to buy anything, and that all three women working would see me in a certain thing that didn't work, scrinch up their noses and say "Yeeaaah, no..." and send me back to the dressing room. They didn't try to convince me, they didn't try to shine a fine light on it, they were just honest. I found two pairs of skinny jeans made in North Carolina (from fabric in one of the last mills in the U.S.) that fit like a dream. I also left with a jacket, a blouse, and a dress that can double as a tunic. I even sprang for a new fragrance (and my heavens do they have a selection of those - hard to pick just one). Excellent store with unusual, high quality items at a wide variety of price ranges (my items ranged from $65 to $295). read more

There were about 5 different colognes I wanted to buy from this store. There's not much in here for guys, but there's some cool vintage men's accessories that was fun to just look at. Such a gloriously curated store! Always something new and lovely to pine after. I have been in the store numerous times and have splurged on a couple of little things. I actually preferred the old space before she moved to Hayes. But, I can understand why the foot traffic would be important. The owner of this store has an amazing eye and incredible taste level. But, I couldn't agree more that she has no clue when it comes to creating an inviting environment. The other day I was int he store and this time woman behind the counter was super friendly. Then the owner came through. Somehow I could just feel the bad and stressed energy shift in there. There were no greetings or smiles. I would love to have her stay in business. I always look forward to my trips to Hayes and Reliquary adds so much to the neighborhood. I really can really imagine how difficult and stressful having a retail store must be. But, she needs to hire different people to work in the store and truly change her approach with customers.
