Certainly there is no need for another 5 star review for Odsy, but I am so happy with the work he did on my belt. Did you know how difficult it is to find a shop that works on belts?! I actually brought him 2, but he was honest that one could not be done without the fabric piece that was on the outside, which I appreciated knowing. The one he did fix he did a gorgeous job on, plus the shop is very cute, a little oasis in the tumult of the neighborhood. Odsy is the best. It had been a few years since my last visit. I brought a beloved pair of Birkenstocks to be resoled and then got back what feels like a new pair of sandals! Brought some heels here to fix after my dog chewed them up. Said the best he could do was this patch job where he just glued another piece of leather on the shoe without making any attempt at blending it in. This is pretty much as good as useless. Who is gonna walk around wearing Versace heels with this botched patch job? On top of that it took weeks for them to do this repair. I brought four pairs of shoes to Jin to rework - AE wingtips & loafers, Blundstone boots, and a pair of women's leather sandals. Jin was communicative, helpful, and does excellent work. I needed a specific pair for a wedding and he was able to rush it so I would have it, even though he had almost a 100 pairs of shoes to work on before mine. It was very considerate of him. He resoled my AE wingtips and added rubber half-soles, and also added rubber half-soles onto my AE loafers. Great craftsmanship and attention to detail. I had deep scratches in my Blundstones. He was able to buff it out a little bit and then conditioned my boots to a really nice dark grey. He was unable to repair the women's leather sandal straps correctly unless a ton more work was to be done. He communicated this clearly and asked before he continued. We ultimately decided not to repair the sandals, and we were not charged for the pre-work from Jin. Again, very nice of him to assess the situation. When I came to pick up, he answered all my questions about how to maintain my shoes with the correct creams and lotions - what to use and what not to use and why. Super helpful. They also have a texting system to notify you that your shoes are done. We live almost an hour away from Odsy, and I will be coming back with all my leather needs in the future. Also, as a beginner hobbyist in leatherworking myself, I'd love to see more of what Odsy has to offer beyond shoes. read more

I dropped off 4 pairs of shoes. Heels needed to be fixed, elastic band on sling backs needed to be replaced, one flip flop broke, and one pair of red bottom heels needed to be revived. The most impressive fix of all is the Red bottoms I dropped off. They were REALLY beat up, I was literally going to throw them away, but I took a chance after looking up several places online. Guys, to say that I am impressed is an understatement. I couldn't stop staring at them on the way home. I also really appreciate and respect the owner's honesty. He told me what was possible instead of setting unrealistic expectations; I wanted the shiny leather replaced on my heels, but he told me it was patented so it's not to be possible. Anyway, I just picked up my 4 pairs of shoes and dropped off my black Louis Vuitton Epi Leather Neverfull purse to have the handles repaired. (Yes! They even repair purses!! :) The handles cracked on the sides, so I wanted that fixed. Fingers crossed that it'll go perfectly like my shoes did! Oh! I also dropped off a pair of red bottom flats to have the sole taken care of. I bought them along with me for the pickup -thinking that I would turn them in if the heels would have turned out nice, which of course they did! :) Long story short, I have found my go-to place for all my leather good repairs - whether it be purses or shoes. Don't sleep on this place! They're really good and they get busy!! I don't know if they do rush jobs because I'm never in a rush for my repairs, but judging by how busy they can get, I would suggest expecting at least a week turnaround. read more

For the person looking for this specific review as was I: yes they know and will do your Rick Owens no problem. My Rick Owens ramones were pretty ran through, there was enough heel drag that the sole was completely gone and exposing holes into the mid-sole. So I brought it in and we agreed on putting a new sole, reconditioning the leather, and also restoring the scratched toe caps. Came out amazing! The leather looks great, the toecaps look new with correct paint matching and the mid-sole/sole repair is perfect. The mid-sole was filled out to compensate what was worn and the new vibram soles are a closer color to Rick Owens "Milk" instead of being a pastey white. read more

Somehow, a metal lace hook broke on my pair of expensive hiking boots. I contacted customer service at the boot manufacturer for their advice, with no success. I took the boot to my neighborhood shoe repair shop, and that guy was dismissive and rude. Bewildering! My third attempt was the charm. Stopped by Odsy on Irving Street, and Soonjin repaired it immediately. The new lace hook doesn 't look the same--of course not--but it is the same size and he was able to rivet it on and hand the boot back to my while I waited. And $10 he charged is very reasonable. I had a Cuyana purse that the strap broke on (during vacation, super fun) and after contacting a few leather/shoe repair shops, I'd given up hope that someone could manage what I thought was a simple fix. Luckily I came across all of the great reviews on Odsy and after sending them a photo of the damage, they send they should be able to fix it and I brought it in. I just picked up the purse today and I couldn't be happier - it's a nice leather bag so it would have been terrible to get rid of it, and now the strap looks brand new (with additional reinforcements so it doesn't happen again). Pretty honest work, 120$ for a redwing resole. Did not have the foresight to take a before photo, but my previous soles were GROUND up. Jin was honest with me, he said I might have one more resole in these boots. The stitching near the toe is fraying so there was glue involved in this resole. read more

I started using an old wallet once belonging to my grandfather. He never used it, actually, so it was essentially new. However, the stitching was as old as the wallet (probably 60 years) so it began to deteriorate fairly quickly. I just sort of let it do its thing for a while until basically I was walking around with a deconstructed wallet. So I brought it here, and bam, good as new. They had to amend a few matching leather pieces to it unfortunately, as the existing flaps were fairly frayed, but it looks great and is functional once more. Great quality and price! This place is the best! I first came to Odsy to have a vintage Harajuku bag's straps repaired. Jin fixed the bag, made it look brand new. Jin and his wife both sell their own handmade wares varying from beautiful leather products, some pottery, aprons face masks etc. I ordered a Navy blue men's watch band to be worn as a bracelet. I love it! The quality is beyond what I was expecting. The day I went in to pick up my bag and order the watch band, my husband and I spent some time talking to Jin. This man truly loves what he is doing and it was a really pleasure to meet someone who took the time to engage with his customers.
