Ugly dark brown to match the stain. Beautiful light brown lost forever.

My leather boot was stained by a bit of bike chain grease on the instep. A bit of a language barrier with the owner, but he was clear that he could use a polish to cover it up, and the boot would be THE SAME COLOR. I really insisted on this. I get the boots back and THEY ARE BOTH NOW THE COLOR OF THE GREASE. He just stained everything to match the stain. Maybe they weren't otherwise fixable, but he told me "same color." No wonder he insisted on being paid in advance.

Great, quick and reasonably priced service. I brought two pairs of Frye boots here last week and picked them up looking brand new today. I was mostly impressed with the cost!! $55 for new soles on both boots.

Ask the Community - Good Steps Shoe Service

Can you change out leather straps from high heels? The straps that comes with the heels now are too short. I need it to be twice as long as I can wrap it around tightly.

I think it can but better show it to me.

How much do you charge to repair high heels with broken bottoms (tip area)?

    About $12 dollar.

Wayne has done a great hob of fixing the holes and putting on new rubber soles and heals at a fair price.

After being quoted $90-$120 elsewhere, I was pleasantly surprised to learn his pricing is $35-$50 per pair, depending on whether the bottom heel also needs to be soled. I ended up bringing in three pairs of shoes (two with top heels done, one with both top and bottom heel soled). He told me to come back in 1.5-2 hours, and when I returned around 4:30 PM, all three pairs were ready. The work looked clean, professional, and well finished--I was really impressed. I also had him replace a watch battery. When I got home later that day and realized it still wasn't working, I messaged him right away. He responded the next day, asked me to come back in, and fixed it within minutes--he even offered a refund if it couldn't be resolved. Fair pricing, fast turnaround, quality work, and honest service. I'll definitely be back and highly recommend this place.

I recently came back from a European vacation and needed repair on my very nice Coach bag. Midway…read morethrough my trip, the anchor stitching that secured the leather bound ends of my bag where my strap would be used and connected to starting to come unraveled. Since this is a hefty luxury bag, going to my clothing alteration shop wouldn't work as I was recommended to go to a cobbler as they would have the machines necessary to fix a bag. Fortunately, for me when I got back home, I found MAK & CO which came highly recommended and was near to where I lived. I contacted MAK via the online quote portal on yelp. He immediately responded with his number and said to text him directly with some of the images of the bag damage. I contacted him and sent him the photos of the damage and he quoted me $20 per end and said he could take care of it pretty fast. I took the bag in on New Year's Eve and MAK took a quick look at it and said he could get it done in two hours. I was completely surprised and I reminded him he didn't have to get it to me that fast. He said it wouldn't be a problem. Not only was he able to turn around the bag within a few hours he said the total repair would be only $20 for both ends and not $20 per end. This was half the amount which I was expecting to pay. Totally happy with what he said I left and came back maybe about five hours later near to when he was about to close. He gathered the bag and showed me his repair which he did very securely and tight. I have no doubt that this repair will last hopefully forever. The total amount was only $20 as he said, and I walked away very happy and appreciative. MAK & CO was very professional, quick with the turnaround and very affordable. I for one will definitely be back as I have many shoes that I have been waiting to get repaired. He definitely is an artisan.

I mistakenly wake over a tree grate, damaging my Gucci bootie's heel, losing the heel cap and ruining the leather on the heel. These shoes came with two pairs of heel caps when I purchased them years ago that I provided to the repair shop to faciliate the repair as I wanted to get these shoes as close to original condition. Teresa gladly took my order and is very friendly and professional. I was quoted $25 and accepted it as I did not have much time to shop around for a better deal. I should have asked what the price would have been if I didn't provide my own heel caps to repair my shoes. All-in-all, I'm happy with the results and added a tip to my payment. I recommend this spot for fast, reliable and professional service.

My Cole Haans were already in decent shape, but I wanted them looking sharp. Teresa, the owner, welcomed me right away, had me sit at the counter, and got to work treating and shining them. Pre-pandemic, I used to visit their other locations back when they were called A Shine & Co., and I'm so glad I rediscovered them. While traveling in Seattle, I noticed a stain on the tip of my shoe and popped into a local shoeshine shop, thinking a regular shine would do the trick. The person who looked at them immediately recognized it as a hand sanitizer stain, which had penetrated the leather and removed the dye. He explained that a simple shine wouldn't fix it, the shoes needed to be stripped and redyed. Since I was traveling, I couldn't have the work done there, but he gave me invaluable advice: go to someone experienced, like Rachel at The Shoeshine Guild in San Francisco, because not all shoeshine and repair shops know how to properly handle delicate leather work. And he was absolutely right. Rachel did a fantastic job. After the repair, I couldn't even tell which shoe had been stained. My shoes look immaculate, and I am so glad I trusted them with this delicate work. What makes The Shoeshine Guild even more impressive is that they continue to support employees who are recovering from alcohol disorders and other challenges, a true testament to a business that cares about its community as much as its craft. If you have high-quality leather shoes that need repair, whether it's a small stain, scuff, or more extensive work, I highly recommend The Shoeshine Guild. They combine skill, experience, and heart in a way that's rare to find.
