I mistakenly wake over a tree grate, damaging my Gucci bootie's heel, losing the heel cap and ruining the leather on the heel. These shoes came with two pairs of heel caps when I purchased them years ago that I provided to the repair shop to faciliate the repair as I wanted to get these shoes as close to original condition. Teresa gladly took my order and is very friendly and professional. I was quoted $25 and accepted it as I did not have much time to shop around for a better deal. CLOSER TO MY WORK I work in the Financial District in SF. When my heel plates of my dress shoes are worn down I would go to Shoe Wiz at the Westfield San Francisco Centre. With the closure of that shopping center I was fortunate to find Shoe Wiz at Embarcado Center, which for me is about 5-minute walk from work. The heel plates I buy from Shoe Wiz have a strong rubber mold that can last for a couple of years. The strap holder for my purse tore - the part sewn onto the purse body. This is a weird purse made out of recycled truck inner tubes. Shoe Wiz perfectly repaired it for $25 AND next day pickup!! It's a tiny little shop - all the repair equipment is right behind the counter. Embarcadero Three location is super convenient for those of us working downtown. When I went back to ask for it to be fixed properly, the owner accused me of lying and refused to take responsibility. The workmanship was poor, and the customer service was worse. What do you do when you have talking shoes? Talking back certainly didn't work. All kidding aside, I haven't been attending formal events for years, even before March 2020. So when I pulled those new pair of Cole Haan's and the sole separated from the shoe, I was on the hunt for someone who could repair these barely worn shoes. I called and emailed a company that previously helped me that used to be on Geary St. My resent email was answered with a $50 estimate. I replied that it was fine and asked how and where to pay and deliver my shoes. Then... crickets. Multiple emails, phone calls.... crickets (was so tempted to review that biz but, not having anything good to say...). My friend went online and referenced me to several stores near and in the Financial District which led me here. Since a lot of my work errands are in or around the Financial District, I walked here on a weekday late morning and brought my 'talking' shoes here. The friendly lady gave me an estimate of $40.00 and told me that it would be ready in a week. Bringing the shoes as it was boxed and stored for many years, she kindly explained how my shoes were damaged. About two weeks later, I returned with my receipt stub and she pulled my boxed shoes from her shelf. I've come here many times because it on my walk to work. I've had boots, heels, tips and more replaced, and they've always fallen apart. I kept giving them the benefit of the doubt, but I just got a pair of Prada boot heel tips repaired and one came off the first time I wore it (today). I love the convenience of this location, but their work doesn't last. I've also had a heel break on me after they replaced the heel tip. I'm done giving them shots--it just keeps breaking. No other options nearby so it's unfortunate. They have good customer service but their work isn't lasting. read more

Miracle workers! They can resole anything. I brought in 2 pairs of my favorite boots that were ground down well past the sole, torn seams, etc, and they transformed them back into like new, but without the pain of having to break them back in again. They also added soles to some new boots I purchased. The soles had 0 traction at all, were just flat wood, so they added a rubber sole with tons of traction so that I can actually wear them outside. You'd never be able to tell it wasn't from the original manufacturer. They basically take shoes and make them better and stronger, so they last 10 times longer. Long Live Shoe Wiz! read more

Quick turnaround, great customer services, quality work. I brought 2 pairs of heels in on Monday afternoon for heel tip replacement. It costs ~$19 per pair. I was told by the (extremely friendly and nice) lady working there that they would be ready by 2pm the next day - and they were! Also, I had scratched/torn the leather on my heels, and wasn't expecting that to be fixed, but was pleasantly surprised when I picked up my shoes that they had repaired that too, for no extra charge! Will definitely be coming back in the future, since they did such a good job, and at what i think is a pretty reasonable price. The proprieter butchered my favorite heels. I came here to have the tips on my heels replaced. The shoemaker literally cut the heels, effectively lowering the heels. I packed the shoes to take to a business event. The moment I stepped into the shoes, the heel cracked because the lowered height of the heel changed the angle of the heel. Please see the pics. I've been coming here for years and things have been generally ok. A bit pricey, but they've also punched some holes in straps and such free of charge, so it generally all comes out in the wash. However, recently, I had the elastic on a pair of sandals replaced to the tune of $29. That was the same price of getting them completely resoled, which I had had done about six months before. It just makes no sense. I would've replaced the elastic myself, but I figured "Eh, they do pretty good work, I'm sure it'll be like $10, it's easy." False. Shame on me for not speaking up and asking why it was so expensive. At the same time, this seems shady. I'll take my business someplace else next time. The Shoe Wiz guys are super friendly and shined my shoes for free without asking with every shoe repair. They even did it once when I only asked for advice on fixing my shoes (mostly fixing heels I'd rubbed down while walking). I'm not as certain about the quality of the work. They fixed some boots of mine and ended up adding/gluing/sewing? material to the underside. They looked fine, but a year later I could see where that was peeling back a bit. Throwing away my shoes would have saved me $42 and would been less frustrating. I should have read reviews before letting this place destroy my Kate spade heels. I went in to get my heels repaired because the nail was showing. He recommended also adding a pad to the toe to prevent the leather from wearing out. The shoes were only worn about 5 times, so even though the price was high, I figured it was worth $42 if he was able to prevent wear and tear. Picking them up was an awful experience. I handed the lady my ticket and she was instantly rude. they were filthy! She just blew some air on them and handed them to me. The leather on the heel was cut up, the plastic cap they put in the heel was chunky and there was a gap between the cap and the original leather. I pointed out the damage and she said, "what do you want me to do, that's how they are!" She even tried to tell me that I brought them in with the tool marks. Horrible serivice- over priced and the WORST quality of work I have ever seen. My shoes are in worse condition then when I brought them in. Walked into shoe wiz because my leather strap on my sandal kept sliding off. The guy inside was so nice and was telling me it was because the leather was stretching which is normal. I'm a shoe slut. I whore myself to all the shoe stores and all the departments stores. Actually I've elevated myself to shoe high-class hooker...I've fallen prey to the cute AND expensive shoes. When my shoes need some tender lovin' care I bring them here. Nothing sounds worse then the metallic clink of your de-heeled shoes on the concrete. I had seen this shop in the SF Centre in passing, and my first impression was good and friendly. The lady at the counter was personable as I asked her about the boots I was wearing at the time, and I decided right then to bring another pair of problem boots to her shop. I had tried to repair my rain boots with "shoe goo", and had ended up making the heels wildly uneven, so I asked her to have the heels evened up. When I came back the next day, I got my shoes back, and the heels looked great! However, when I tried them on in the shop, the left boot still leaned inward, slightly turning my foot inward. I told the clerk that the left heel felt crooked. She insisted that the heels were even, so I tried them on again and stood on the tiles in the entrance of the shop. Still crooked. I presented the boots to her, and she proceeded to lecture me on the work of the heel, measuring the height of both boot heels and insisting that nothing was wrong with the work. When I showed her that the outside edge of the heel looked as if it were a little higher than the inside edge, she then said "Maybe something's wrong with the inner sole." "There's nothing wrong with the inner sole. The sole is fine; I still feel that I'm leaning on the left heel." "Maybe something's wrong with your foot, then." Wrong answer!! To humor her, I showed her my current shoe, to show her the wear pattern of my heel. I'm pretty sure she didn't care, as she was more concerned with defending her repair people's work than helping to solve a problem. I was very frustrated when I left. I really wanted to like this location. Another customer that the clerk serviced expressed deep satisfaction with the work on the men's shoes she had brought in for repair. Also, the aesthetic work on my boots are good; it's obvious the men in the back take great pride in their work. I just wish I had had a more positive experience. I recommend Shoe Wiz for the craftsmanship (thus, the 3 stars), but if something goes wrong, don't expect to get any positive customer service or resolution. (Honorable mention: I had accidentally left behind my iPad bag when I left in frustration. Luckily it was still there at the shop when I immediately ran back in a panic. Many thanks for the help. This place is outstanding in their commitment to customer service and doing top notch work! I have small calves and no one has ever been willing or able to size my boots for me. Not only did shoe whiz do it, they did it for and EXTREMELY reasonable price, and they exceeded my expectations with their craftsmanship. The boots are patchwork leather and Shoe Whiz managed to match the pattern when he resized the calf! And the work is so well done, you can't even tell there was work done on them. In San Francisco, especially the Financial Distirct, there a lots of shoe repair places. But, I have found that this one is by far my favorite and least expensive! The customer service is great. I am always greeted pleasantly. In addition, they only take a day or less for all of my repairs. I usually come in to get the worn down heels of my shoes fixed and have paid ($10 to $20) for this type of repair. In comparison, other shoe repair places nearby have charged me $30+ for one shoe...If you work in the Financial Distict and need a speedy and affordable shoe repair, I definitely recommend coming here! read more

I took a pair of boots in to get the soles replaced. 44 bucks was pretty pricey, even for downtown - the last pair I had replaced cost me 18. That said, I wouldn't have been too upset by the price if the rest of the service had been great. The guy told me he would polish and clean them for free, which is fine and dandy, but he only polished the toes which reverted back to their previous state about 4 wears later. Every other time I have gotten my soles replaced they have asked me what kind of sole I want and what kind of wear I expect. They didn't and my $44 soles are already wearing down on the heel whereas heels I had replaced four years ago are wearing just fine. read more

Whether he or she attends you, they tell you honestly whether your shoes or purse are repairable. They won't waste your time, money and make you get over it, haha - Orrr they will work a miracle and make you want to skip your merrily way out. I usually come in for small fixes (so I can't speak for the other reviewers =( like fixing my heels (hate the sound of those nails, ladies, please get them fixed!) and they charge pretty competitively to the place I used to go to on Battery St. The last time I came in it was for a miracle. I bought this cute purse at a discounted store, so when the zipper stopped zipping and would just pull apart as soon as i zipped it, I didn't want to spend a fortune to get it fixed (and who knows if that was going to work). Well, I took it in, the gentlemen told me it is the lady that usually fixes them so they would call me to tell me how much when she returned (because he wasn't sure if the original pull would be able to be work or if they would have to change it out, I was hoping for the first). A day or two went by (and even though they forgot to call) they fixed it and perhaps because i am a regular, and they forgot to call, they gave me a price you don't think twice about! I have to tell you, the craftsmanship is good as new, if not better, and I am in love with my little purse again!!! I've taken just about every pair of heels I own to these guys because those bastard heel pad thingies allllllllways wear off (some sooner rather than later) and then all of a sudden I can hear the sharp click of the nail on the sidewalk instead of the dull click I'm used to hearing. Wow. I got a pair of boots repaired here. There was a small tear in the faux leather, and my heels were destroyed to the point of slipping on the metal piece when on slick ground (okay, I was slipping on all surfaces). No joke, the ends of my heels looked like black leather banana peels with a metal banana coming through they were so busted. For $11.80, I got my shoes fixed. They look brand new. AND I picked them up the next day. AMAZING! I will be taking all of my shoe repairs here. read more
