Located right in the heart of the Haight Asbury shopping district, this is a fun shop that offers Tibetan and South Asian based jewelry, clothing, and religious items. Parking for this shop can be found on Haight St. or on the residential side streets that surround the area. This shop is always staffed by knowledgeable, friendly people. Though there are several other businesses on Haight St. that offer similar items, this shops presents it own unique blend and it is well worth the visit to see if you can find that special, "What you're looking for." Recommend.

I popped into this store after going for a walk, and I am so happy I did! Pureland is adorable, and is filled with hand-crafted goodies. I'm so in love with this shop and their sister shop in The Castro! They carry Dolma brand clothing which feels exquisite, being natural cottons and silks. I also find the prices to be fair for such elegant and comfortable clothing. They often have sale items and buy one get one sales. The shop owner is lovely and both shops are welcoming. Anytime I walk by the stores, which is often because I work and live by the shops, I find myself stopping in and finding another lovely piece. I buy myself things as well as pick up gifts for friends and family. I also bring visitors to the city by to pick up nice things. Great place!!!! read more

I love their scarves - they come in different sizes, different materials, different prints...all at great prices. Besides scarves, they also have a large selection of tops and jewelry. The paper mache jewelry are amazing and so well priced! Never discovered them before until now and I'm a fan! This trip, I picked up a collection of scarves in different colors and a few bright sparkly paper mache and multi-colored bead necklaces. Can't wait to wear them! read more

I was with my friend who is visiting from Portland and we were in the Upper Haight. I have been in the market for a Tibetan batik or cloth I can use over my windows. I find myself sometimes taking for granted the stores here, especially as a 'Lower Haighter'. I couldn't find anything in the stores I went in and we started back home when I say this beautiful wood stature of Ganesh and all these other wonderful pieces of art on the window. AND they had some very colorful wall hangings, prayer flags, jewelery, incense and some of the most rocking Indian music I've heard. I found a bright orange piece that I bought for $48 while my friend bought a sandalwood braclet for $5 and I left happy. Pure Land has only been in this location for eight months but it is a welcome change from the pricey, chic shops. read more

I adore this store! I bought about 8 pairs of earrings here! Love them...so many wonderful things in this store. Just my style too. They have funky purses, cute dresses, great jewelry, cute coin purses, tiny felt stuffed toys, incredible art things from Nepal....the list goes on and on. My GO-TO store for gifts! read more

I am only giving one star because that is the only way to post a review. I would give 0 if I could. The worst store I have ever shopped in. The owner (I assume) was working when I shopped there. He was on FaceTime the entire time we were there. When it came time to check out I had two tops that I have been looking for forever and was super stoked. The price tags were clearly marked on sale for $24 (from $48). He rang me up and charged me the full price. I questioned my total and went back to the rack to confirm. He came back to the register and said that it was a mistake and the shirts were full price. I didn't argue at first but was super disappointed. I really wanted to buy them. I asked him a few times if I could buy at least one for the sale price. I would even pay cash. He told me no. At this point I questioned him. It's not like a couple shirts were out of place it was an entire rack. As a small business owner i would absolutely honor our customers request because it was clearly marked on sale. I told him that was terrible business ethics and I was super disappointed. He followed me out of the store saying "you f*** you!!!" over and over. The store itself was great but that man was appalling and I can't believe he is even in business. Being from Hawaii we always carry the aloha spirit with us. It took all my strength to not scream back at him. What a shame. read more

Meet the Business Owner: Yonten R.

Yonten Raza was born in Nepal where her Tibetan parents had immigrated in 1959. In 1985, when she was 18, she came to the U.S. with the help of American friends, initially living in Berkeley and working as an au pair. Her father was a small businessman in Nepal, so it was natural that she should consider starting her own business. A friend at Stanford suggested Menlo Park as a good location, so 13 years ago she opened dolma Handicrafts on Santa Cruz Avenue featuring Tibetan handicrafts that she personally selects and brings to the U.S. Later she added dolma Tibetan Carpets also on Santa Cruz Avenue. Today Yonten has five handicraft shops - Mountain View, Palo Alto, Menlo Park and two in San Francisco - as well as a second carpet shop at the San Francisco Design Center. She plans to consolidate the two carpet shops in the new building she is having constructed at 622 Santa Cruz Avenue, a block west of El Camino Real.

The lawn is always green and beautiful, perfect for letting my fur baby run around and play (or potty) and you will always see people enjoying the space, stretched out reading or talking with friends or just soaking up the peace. One of my favorite things about Union square is the art. The giant hearts are iconic in San Francisco and they're always being repainted and reimagined by different artists, so no matter how many times you come here, you will always see something new. I've seen so many versions over the years but I still stop to look at them every time I'm here because there is always something new. The hearts the statues, the occasional pop-up installations or performances, the square always feels alive. There is also always something going on. On my last visit here there were ping pong tables set up everywhere with people playing. I saw juggling classes being offered and arts programs for kids with people gathered around having a good time. There was a reading area and books brought in on carts. They even still had up there holiday backdrop that looks like it was put there just for people to use for the perfect insta shot. There are plenty of tables and benches scattered around so it's easy to grab a seat and stay a while. Even if you're just passing through and you need to rest your dogs for a few minutes, this is the perfect spot. I spent more than a few afternoons here people watching or enjoying a snack from the little stand nearby. It's really a great place to spend some time and a must do if you are in San Francisco. On the weekends you will find people trying to usher you onto bus tours or maybe sell you souvenirs, but you might also witness an event or see straight performers so you never really know what you're going to get. This is a place for visitors and locals wiith nice surroundings where you can really get a feel for and just to take in the city.
