I've been looking for Smiski and didn't want to risk buying a fake online, so I checked out Japantown. A few shops were sold out, but I eventually found some at this store. All Smiski items come in blind boxes. I chose the "Let's Exercise" series and ended up getting the Balance one. I also picked up a strap blind box and got a secret, which was a nice surprise. Customer service was great, and the prices were decent. This was my first time buying Smiski, glad I was able to find them here. :) read more

This is a Hawaiian toy store inside Japan town , San Francisco. The store is not big but it is paced with many different kinds of dolls , collectible, gifts , etc One of the stuffed toys my friend wanted was $6 more than the next door gifts shop . I actually really like this shop in Japan Town. They actually have some of the best blind boxes for toys that I've ever seen. They story is on the larger side which is great, but it can get busy on a weekend so get ready to play bumper shoulders with a bunch of random folks. Still staff is pretty friendly. Great selection of trendy brands of toys and trinkets. They even have a nice pile of clearance items for splurging, birthday gifts, etc. I saw an IG post about some limited edition Sonny Angels that I've been looking for. They're one of the few stores around that sell them MSRP (the store next door sells it double the price...). Unfortunately, I could only go the next day. I would have to drive across the city, so I checked their story all day to see if there were updates about the stock. They posted that they do not do reserves or call aheads. I arrive at the store, not sure of the layout of the merchandise, so I go up to the cashier to ask about the Sonny Angels. I wait around five seconds to catch their attention, but they're busy packaging something. I proceed to say "Hi. Do you still have Sonny Angels in stock?" Only one glances up and points with her thumb without a word. Not the friendliest staff, even though they appear to be fun based off of their content on IG. I wish they cared more about customer service. I'd rather go to Woot Bear for Sonny Angel releases with their amazing staff that chat it up. read more

Scam. Got two of the same items from blind boxes that were made to look like they were from the same set. I purchased one blind box from the 3 that were left and got the only one i didn't like so I assumed the rest would be fine. I went to purchase it and guess what I got. THE SAME ONE. This is a super cute store with lots of great products. I bring my daughters here often. I was there this pass weekend and my daughter wanted to know if something was in stock so we asked the staff that was behind the counter and she just said no that's a display not for sale and seem annoyed with us that we even asked a question. I see the staff making videos for Instagram having fun. But when it comes to customer service they could do better. Maybe it was just an off day I'm not sure. read more

This is a very unique little shop inside Japan Center Malls. Amino Boutique is not a very big store. But carry a lot of cute Japanese souvenirs and household items there. It is fun to check out what they have and you might bring some cute little things home. They are one of the very few stores that have crowd control in front of the store. The maximum amount of people allowed in the store is 20 people only. The employees in the store are very friendly and they will only come to you when you have questions. I don't feel any pressure when I'm shopping there. They have so many items I'm interested in and I want to bring it all home! Lol! Check them out and I think you'll like them! read more

I decided to purchase four more silk pillow case covers this past month because the quality and durability of the fabric used to make the pillow case covers was excellent, well-constructed, and withstood many parties. Also, I noticed the Boutique sells jade jewelry necklaces and earrings. I bought a unique, intricately designed jade necklace and jade earrings. Since my son was born, I have bought many Skip-Hop infant bottles, children's plates, toddler juice cups and over four children's back packs from Amiko. The staff was always friendly and courteous. Fast forward to the present date. As many small businesses are struggling to pay rent and survive you would think customer service would be a priority. I waited at the door for ten minutes, due to the 10 person capacity. When the store owner finally showed up at 5:00PM sharp, she informed me that they were closed even though the store still had ten customers. Even though the prices are marked up and I could buy every item for a discounted price online, I supported Amiko, but no more. Obviously Amiko is in fine financial shape during the pandemic and doesn't need customers. At least Amazon believes in customer service. read more

One of my favorite places to buy hats and scarves! It's located in one of the Japan Center malls (I forget which one..). Some of the items they sell (mainly the jewelry and the T-shirts) skew towards a younger demographic but for scarves and hats, they are definitely appropriate for the 30 something or 40 something set. Their scarves are typically $9.99 each and I believe you get a deal if you buy 2 or 3 at a time. The designs range from fun and frivolous (birds and polka dots) to sophisticated and trendy. As far as hats go they've got some great berets, paper boy style hats and other knit caps that are perfect for San Francisco weather. I probably have way too many hats and scarves from here, but oh well, with their reasonable prices, it's not the end of the world. read more

It was marked $20 but I was already making a purchase of 3 pairs of earrings ($10) so I asked the woman if she'd sell it for $15 and she agree. Yayyy. $27.19 for all and I was super happy with my purchases. A couple stores later and where do we find ourselves again....? Amiko! My favorite things they have out of many varieties to choose from are Sanrio items (authentic), hairclips and hairbands, food erasers, many todidoki items, kawaii plushies, and blind boxes. Another one of those cutsie stores! There are definitely quite a few of those around here. Amiko is geared more towards clothing and accessories. I found a lot of Toki Doki, My Little Pony, and other adorable novelty shirts here. They have those popular stuffed alpacas! I really wanted one, but at the same time, I wasn't looking to spend $30 on one either, they did have little mini ones for $10, but that seemed pretty steep as well. The other stores I went to were much cheaper. Although their clearance was a pretty awesome deal. ($10 tote bags all the way!) If I had more money to spend, I would definitely have bought some stuff here. Adorable is the theme that this store is choosing to utilize, and all the things are so tempting. :-( read more

Updated 10/3/11 I used to come to this store just to glance and look around and didn't really take the time to actually look until I saw the Loungefly Hello Kitty bags that they had. I kept reading reviews on Yelp and realized that they had one of my favorite brands (Tokidoki) in shirts and had collectible items but no bags :( Wished they did though! The shirts are a bit pricy, but it does go on sale! I love the jewelry, hairclips, Sanrio plushes, bags and last but not least, the customer service that I got from Stephanie. I showed her a pic a week ago to see if they were going to get a Hello Kitty Cupcake Key Cap, so she wrote my name & number and told me she'd call me when they received it. Got the call this morning and went here after work! Super cute boutique located next to Sanrio inside of Japantown. It caught my eye because of the Hello Kitty items in the window and all around, I just had to step inside and I'm glad I did. There was a bunch of Loungefly items, Hello Kitty, Domokun, TokiDoki, Crowded Teeth and a lot more. They have tons of accessories... scarves, jewelry, hair clips, and lots of tshirts too. They also have a lot of things for kids like backpacks, toys, and baby things too. Another place to add to places to check out when I'm in or around Japantown! There is also a cute bulldog that resides here... too cute! I was able to pick up a few christmas stocking stuffers and goodies for myself and the staff was very friendly and sweet. read more

Amiko has several -- all with more bling-factor than I wanted. I chose the simplest one -- though it still had some bling (mine was in line of a rhinestone, but just one). This cluttered cutsy shop is one of many in the Japantown mall, what sets it apart are Gwen Stefani's brand of Harajuku t-shirts, hilarious Angry Little Girl bags and purses (ie: two cartoon girls, one black-haired and one blonde, the blonde has a speech bubble "You speak English so well" and the black-haired one "I was born here dumbass"), along with a huge assortment of accessories (mainly hairclips and simple jewelry, many of which highlight kimono-like fabric and sakura patterns). Although most of the accessories have an "Amiko Boutique" paper label to them that doubles as a hanger, the sales girl could not confirm if Amiko actually produced them, and I'm really sure I've seen the designs elsewhere for cheaper. But for convenience this is not a bad stop to find stuff to deck out every inch of your hair. Be forewarned to note the price tags because all those little trinkets add up. after a pleasant experience months back when I went to purchase a Perky Toki JuJuBe Tokidoki diaper bag, I was more than excited to go to this store for the next Jujube release of the highly anticipated Donutellas Sweet Shop! So we were the first in line the day of the release and wanted to purchase a small backpack called the mini-be in this print for my 2 year old, and a BFF bag for me as a diaper bag in this print. the girl at the counter said that all the employees at this store grabbed all the mini be and bff bags for themselves but that I could choose any other style of bag in the print. I was beyond shocked! does this seem like good business practice to them??? especially since I came from far just to support this business and get the 2 bags I was looking for?! so i left with a dissapointed little girl. never again will i return !! I called jujube corporate and let them know of what was happening at this store and gave them all the stores details. they assured me merchants are not supposed to withold merchamdise intended to sell to the general public not their own employees! they assured me they would look into this and possibly stop providing merchandise to Amiko due to poor business practices. I also file a conplaint with the BBB (Better Business Bureau), because I dont believe Amiko should be shady like that. avoid this store for all Jujube Tokidoki releases in the future, unless you want the left overs instead of the bag u really want!! buy online from jujube or the official tokidoki website. read more

Lots of great fake stuff. not so great for fake bags, b/c they carry the ugly, i can totally tell thats a ghetto knock off, kind of fake. (-1 star) but i do come here for the cheap jewelry, and other fun doo-dads. as, B said, they have a lot of great "angry little girls" stuff, hello kitty jewelry, cell phone charms, hair accessories, watches, etc. they even carry those purse hanger things too. -1 star b/c dude, if its a store that carries fake stuff i expect to haggle, but there is no haggling in these parts. (well that is if you get rung up by the owner's daughter). if its the owner, then maybe she'll go old school and haggle a bit. fake stuff should be dirt cheap, b/c i know how much that crap costs when they buy it wholesale in asia, and the markup is ridiculous. i guess they gotta make rent. anyways, i don't know about the owner being a haggler yet, but once i get confirmation, i'll be sure to update. there has been a couple times i've come here and they did not accept cash b/c their machine thing was down. no refunds, only exchanges within 7days of buying something that isn't discounted. read more

What brought me into Amiko was the 1) cutesy "The Public Zoo" t-shirts and 2) the "Angry Little Girls" t-shirts, wallets, purses, and tote bags. It may a small boutique but it is full of assorted jewelry, cutesy Harajuku Girls/Angry Little Girls/Hello Kitty clothing and accessories. This is one of the stores in Japantown that make the trip into the City worth it. Thanks to them, I finally have an Angry Little Girls tote bag that I've been wanting for a good while. Bought Simone a Kimochi doll. I bought myself a Totoro lanyard with CAT BUS at the end. They got a lot of imported stuff inside here. I especially love my TOTORO lanyard and cat bus. It was soooooooo cute! They do have a some cute purses, bags and back packs. They also got some clothes to buy too for little children. Though its listed as a jewelry store, Amiko has much more then expected. Aside from various jewelry, scarves, and purses, there are tons of cute shirts, bags, and various miscellaneous items. Make no mistake though, this is a girls store (as if the over abundance of pink didn't clue you in) with nary a guy thing in sight EXCEPT for some Street Fighter blind box vinyls. This is the only item I have bought here (for myself) but every time I've made a purchase, the cashiers have been friendly and more then polite. They've even allowed my girlfriend to exchange one of her blind box vinyls for a display one when she got one she didn't want! Overall, this store is great. Decent prices, tons of sales, and great service. Top it off with a stamp card for even more savings and you've got one of the best Japantown has to offer. read more

Previously known as "Miki Boutique" the ownership was switched over in Jan 2008. I am a sucker for jewelry, anything shiny & blingish...chachkies that sort of thing. The usual distractions of huge shiny rings (yes, fake shiny diamonds..so?), gets me in trouble & will hover around the store forever. Amiko's is that sort of place I get lost in, and don't feel the need to be rushed out. They carry a bunch of necklaces, rings, keychains, hair accessories, bracelets, etc. Yes, you can find your fake "tiffany" or "chanel" jewelry here...cause who are you kidding, most people can't afford a $99923847 necklace. I personally don't get em, but I find the other non-name brand items a hit! I've purchased a cute jeweled hello kitty necklace, and recently bought a VERY cute gold charm bracelet. You choose the chain and the various charms (chain is roughly $15 and charms are roughly $5 each). Supposedly the jewels are Swarovski (but I feel like every place claims this now). They also carry other items such as those fake name brand purses, scarves, etc. The girl working there was such a sweetheart..she was very nice, helpful, and took the time to really help me out.
