I heard of this place from a friend and this place has been on my list for a while, as I don't live in the area, & I love collecting blind boxes and little trinkets, especially smiskis. They have a wide variety of many different blind boxes and trinkets such as some popmart, miffy, hippers, sanrio, sonny angels, smiskis, etc. I primarily came looking to see if they were able to trade, as I am a smiski collector and own nearly all the series and am just trying to trade out my dupes. And to see if their smiskis were listed at a decent price worth buying than directly online. I have only ever bought from authorized resellers listed on the direct sonnyangel website or from the website itself. I went up to this younger worker and asked if they did trades and they told me "at the time of purchase", I just wanted to clarify and asked if the item needed to be directly bought from them. This older asian lady chimed into the conversation and stated firmly "we don't do outside trades." Completely understandable as for a vendor, they wouldn't be sure if the items were authentic. The tone she said it to me though threw me off, and felt condescending. After that short interaction I was debating if I even wanted to buy anything or if I was just in my head about how she said that to me-- I ended up buying an item I've been wanting since it was the same price online. After we left the store, my friend said to me "I didn't like her tone, why did she say it to you like that?" That validated how I was feeling as I thought it was a weird interaction and was just going to let it go. I was pretty disappointed as this store seemed to have such a wide variety and the reseller prices weren't too bad, maybe a couple bucks more per item as I've seen online. Since I don't live in the area, I honestly wouldn't bother coming back after the service. Maybe it was just the older asian lady though, as the younger workers seemed polite. I'll stick to buying my trinkets online or from other authorized sellers. read more

This adorable little shop is packed with all kinds of cute goodies: blind boxes, plushies, figurines, and even some apparel. It's on the smaller side, so it can feel a bit crowded when it gets busy, but that just adds to its cozy charm. The staff are super friendly and helpful! I came in looking for a Leopard Monchhichi Colors keychain, and one of the workers went above and beyond by bringing out a brand-new one from the back for me. Such great service and attention to detail. They have a really fun and well-curated selection, perfect for collectors or anyone who loves cute character merch. Woot Bear has a great selections of blind boxes from various IPs and brands. They carry primarily Asian IPs, but also a lot of Smiskis and Pop Mart ones. They are a little over MSRP from actual IP sites, but you're paying for instant gratification lol. Love their display cases; you can purchase the display figurines! Selection is great but I am very disappointed in the audacity of how they talk to their customers..... I have never been targeted like this before. I was looking at the mystery boxes and was planning on purchasing about four. I put the ones I was interested at the register and wanted to know which mofusand had the seal when suddenly the mystery capybara box caught my eye and I was looking at the possibilities for the box. As I was looking to see what were the potentials for the opening an older white lady directly said please don't steal from our store while I was the only customer browsing in that store area. I really don't understand how someone could say those words outright like that... kinda ridiculous to me. she lost my business and I am kinda disappointed bc I've been contemplating buying mystery boxes for a while so I already had an idea of which ones I wanted to give my friends and the smiski toilet series for myself. Woot bear always draws me in when I'm walking by. The staff are super adept at putting the most adorable plush and toys in the front windows. But you'll find even more great stuff inside too. When I'm here, my partner and I typically end up buying cat related things (latest purchase: pusheen cat cinnamon roll) or more japanese-centric characters like agretsuko or line friends. But we're always tempted to buy so much more. Woot bear always has the latest and greatest blind boxes and random plush weird/cuteness. They also have a bunch of toys and collectibles behind glass. I think most of it is for sale though I've never grabbed any of these items. When checking out, the staff is incredibly helpful and makes sure whatever you're buying can make it home in good shape. For example, our last plush was put into a bag so fancy that we're considering keeping it for garments when packing. So glad to have this store on Haight--there's not always a ton of variety in the neighborhood but Woot Bear brings some fun. read more

Me and my daughter love this place! There are many cute collectibles/figures here going for almost retail price. The Sonney angels and Smiskis are only about $12-$15 each which isn't that bad compared to stores like Ifun which sells fake items for double the price. Super cute and fun place! A little expensive for blind boxes, but I guess it is understandable since they are so trendy right now! They also typically imported from overseas too, so the cost could be justified in that sense too. Many blind boxes on Amazon or Pop Mart can range in price too nowadays. Here, most of the larger blind boxes were about $16. My friends and I were walking along Haights Ashbury when we came across Woot Bear. Although the store was near closing, the staff was nice about letting us explore the store. She was friendly and let us know more about the business. Super cool to see a store dedicated to blind boxes. They carry a large collection and update their Instagram about new releases. I've been looking for smiskis and my friend was able to get her sonny angels. If you end up getting the same figure from a blind box, you can exchange it for something in the glass window. Previously, the times I have gone to Woot Bear, the service was great, and the workers were super friendly. Until recently, I had encountered very rude customer service. Specifically from one worker. I had seen her being friendly to other people especially her co-worker, but when I was going to check-out, it seemed that her mood had changed vigorously and it may have been because I am a younger customer or she just decided she wasn't going to be nice to me. Besides the bad service I got, the products are very good quality but I don't think I'll be coming back for a while. read more

Woot Bear has always been one of my stops whenever I go to the city. I am obsessed with blind boxes so this store definitely brings me a lot of joy. I recommend following their social media as they regularly post what is in stock in their store. They also have an online store, but there is definitely more you can get in store. If there is a certain series you want to get, make sure to either check their social media or give them a call to see if they have it as sometimes their stock can be limited. I have gone a bunch of times and some days it is a complete miss, while other days, they have so much in stock. They have a bunch of sonny angels, skull panda, sanrio, pokemon blind boxes, etc. There are so many different options that will definitely satisfy your inner child. The workers are usually really nice and accommodating as well. They are always willing to answer any questions that you have. Definitely one of my happy places to shop at. There is only street parking. Since it is on a busy street, parking can be sort of scarce, especially on weekends. I highly recommend visiting on a weekday as parking is much easier to find. read more

I loved the variety this store had, there were so many different blind boxes to choose from and everything was well-organized. However, the customer service really took away from my experience. When I checked out, the cashier seemed visibly annoyed by my presence and didn't show the same kindness I saw her give to other customers. Not to mention right after my purchase, she went back to being all cheerful with her coworker who was also working behind the counter. I even asked for a bag & she never gave me one despite me buying like 4 blind boxes. I didn't feel comfortable asking for a bag again, so I just left. You have such a great store but honestly you're leaving a bad impression on a lot of your customers due to the attitude of some of your employees. I walked by the store and seen they opened at 12 so I waited an hour in front with my coffee and bagel. 12 came around and I asked the worker if they had Sonny angels and she said they will in half and hour. I go linger outside more and then come back 30 minutes later and she's standing there with over 10 cases of Sonny angels. She watches me stand and wait in the store for 15 minutes and then tells ms that they aren't selling the Sonny angels right now and that I can pre order on their website instead???? I walked by this store and was immediately drawn in! I love everything miniature, love surprise boxes, and I love anime. I ended up spending $350 here in like 10 minutes I had so much fun looking and grabbing everything. I do think the store feels bare, and could have more items, but I also felt like I had a decent amount to choose from - even if it just meant other colors or variations of similar toys. A lot of the items I bought will end up being fun gifts and stocking stuffers. Yes, I am thinking this far in the future, haha! The reason for the minus stars was due to the cashier customer service. When I went to pay, using my credit card, it was declined! So embarrassing, but I knew it was working, I had just used it less than 30 minutes ago. I got a text alert asking about fraud, which I responded to. The cashier said this happens often and recommended I called my bank. I showed her the text and explain what happened. She didn't understand me and wanted me to call the bank, despite the fact that I just texted my bank back. Her manager, an older Asian woman, stepped in and said this was normal and takes a few minutes. I tried again 1-2 minutes later and still declined! The cashier starts to make me feel really bad, I get the sense she thinks I'm a fraud and gave me the energy of "I can't believe she's going to make me restock this." I was embarrassed enough as is. Had an EXTREMELY negative experience at this store. The GIRL WITH THE ORANGE HAIR who works there has the NASTIEST ATTITUDE I have encountered. Not only was she stand offish, but her behavior was inappropriate. She deliberately put away a display we were looking at and threw a sonny angel box on the counter behind her from at least 5 feet away. She PICKED OUT the sonny angel for me and HANDED IT to me. *racial profiling* unfortunately coming here in hopes that the business owner sees and is able to address. my partner and I have been coming to wootbear for nearly a year and have easily spent hundreds. we love the selection however don't appreciate being racially profiled! on several trips, the employe with black and pink hair (male presenting) strategically positions themselves at the door once my partner and i enter. and it is extremely noticeable that the second the only black person in the store enters, that they are moving to the door. this has again been observed multiple times, I've tested out the theory by seeing if at any time before or after we are in the employee does this. (nope, just for us!) saturday was our final trip into the city for wootbear. very disappointed and disheartened to have spent so much money in an establishment that then would treat us this way. it's nearly comical as we both work in tech and are most likely older than any of the people working in front. we don't need to steal from you. read more
