Every single time I come to the particular San Francisco Japan town Daiso I always find unique things!! The Cupertino Daiso is much closer to me, but this particular evening, my fiancé and I were showing his sister around and she is from Florida. The closest Daiso is in Orlando, which is about 90 minutes away from her so she was very excited to see San Francisco, Japan town as well as a Daiso!! I love all the random hello Kitty and characters they have as well as the array of different Japanese snacks!! It honestly reminds me of my childhood!! I also love all their unique erasers shaped like food and cute little boxes and arts and crafts, such as origami, woodwork, and gardening items!! There is a place where you can find your wine vineyard escape hat along with that Summer music festival and San Francisco street fair hat. This place has salty chips for those who like it salty in SF along with sweet snacks . You will also find matcha for Don Juan de la matcha and orgami paper. This place is a global chainstore with locations in Australia, Taiwan , South Korea , Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia,and Vietnam. It is called Daiso and it's located in Japantown of San Francisco. On a Japantown stroll past the Peace Plaza and the Godzilla mural I landed inside the East Mall of Japan Center of San Francisco. Inside Daiso you will find different items ranging from stationary, craft supplies along with household goods like bowls, plates, and cups. You also will see aisles of merchandise like stuffed animals , sunscreen and skin care products. Daiso is worth shopping and discovering what the land of the rising sun offers. Every J-town needs a Daiso and this is a decently sized one that's located in the second half of the mall where Uji Time and Screen Savor are. Great place to pick up a cheap bottled drink if you need something fast and don't want to stop by the Nijiya. We needed charging cables to charge our phones to go to a concert at the Fillmore nearby and we were able to get what we needed. Again, I couldn't find a USB charging cable for the 6 band iPhone charging port (the second Daiso we went to that didn't have this), but I luckily already got one of these at a Miniso earlier. Decent stock, the lighting is a bit dimmer than other Daiso's, but overall alright. Cashier was efficient to work through the large group of people shopping at the time. Not bad. read more

This daiso is HUGE! It is very organized and has lot of items. Anything you want to buy, they have it. Most times are $1.80, with some being more. One of my favorite stores on the West coast and Hawaii because everything is high quality and only $2.25 unless it's marked differently! The more "expensive item e.g. glass teapot, large Japanese lacquer trays etc. All the good I have bought here are of Good quality and cheap! Love their unique offerings of Japanese made stuff, pens and cards, paper flowers etc for making cards and scrapbooking are unique. This is the only store I have found to carry thee types of items outside of Japan! A lot larger store than expected! I went first two store when I was in Hawaii and Japan. Now I look for the when visiting California. Make your selections carefully as it is NOT RETURNABLE. I will continue to seek out this store everytime I am on the West Coast! Happy Mother's Day. Quality/Quantity - My wife's favorite shop here in J-Town. And since it is Mother's Day, she gets what she wants. Well I try to ALWAYS give her what she wants, lol. Daiso always has everything I'm looking for and more! The prices are super affordable, which makes it easy to stock up on essentials and fun finds. I usually try to come during the week when it's not as busy, and that makes the shopping experience even better. Sure, you could probably find sodas or some of the snacks cheaper at a grocery store, but for just about everything else here, the value is hard to beat. I've always had good experiences shopping at this location. The only small hiccup was when I paid with a $100 bill -- it took a while for them to verify it -- but aside from that, everything went smoothly. Not all Daiso locations are the same. This location is medium size but it carries the essentials that I am looking for bathroom organization. The layout of the store fits my needs and make sense the most. I don't frequent this location often as I live in the East Bay but I always drop by when in the area and it always seems pleasant. My family and I decided to take a random trip to Japan town, in San Francisco, over the weekend. After dining and shopping around for a little bit, we stumbled upon this Daiso location. This Daiso, similar to any other Daiso location, has a great selection of items to browse and purchase. Nearly all items are quite affordable, so we had no issues when our little one decided to grab a couple of toys. Unfortunately, I can't give this place four out of five stars since mostly all of the aisles were quite narrow. Being pregnant and pushing around a shopping cart, I had to be very careful not to run into anyone or being bumped myself. Other than that, this is a cool, yet unique shopping experience if you are in the area and never shopped at Daiso before. read more

I'm seeing a lot of comments about long lines at this Diaso but I'm not seeing the long lines. If you go in the middle of a holiday weekend (especially) or any weekend you will see lines. But if you go at nine or ten AM during the week, you will have the place to yourself! And parking at the meters is 30 minutes for a quarter. I love the crafty things best - washi tapes, glue, masking tapes, pretty envelopes and stationery', clear bags..... the list goes on and on..... Japanese snacks and drinks, as someone else mentioned, are fun to try too. And for kids -- they can pick out a fun if fun stuff for not very much money. I love Diaso! read more

Does anyone know why this particular one has green signage, rather than pink? I'm guessing because Japan Town didn't want a garish color but I'm not sure. Anyway, this is a great Daiso because of the amount of inventory which might be because they have higher ceilings than the ones I've been too. If you don't know what a Daiso is, it's kinda like a Japanese Dollar Tree, so everything is cheap and costs $1.75. My favorite sections are the snack section, the kitchen and electronic organizers, and the stationary stuff. This is like a store made exclusively of stuff you don't really need, but you will find a way to make it work because everything looks clean and cute. read more

Kind of my go-to place whenever I am visiting San Francisco, as I love the neighborhood itself and can grab anything I may have forgotten on my trip. This store is equipped with what you would find in a typical Daiso--organization, electronics, home, apparel, etc. It has everything you want, need, and didn't know you even needed. Because Japantown is a popular location, the store tends to be packed, even moreso when it's the weekend or there's an event going on. The line usually stretches all the way around the corner of the store and it gets hard to walk around the aisles. Sometimes there are boxes of items that are yet to be organized, limiting the pathways even more. This was definitely the busiest Daiso I've ever been to. It was a crowd of people inside and a long line at the registers. Thankfully, most people were just buying a few things so the line moved along quickly. The inside of this Daiso was quite big. They had a huge selection of small items you might need around the house with a lot of different choices to choose from. Last time I went to a smaller Daiso, I needed to buy a soap tray and they only had 1 kind but this store had different styles and colors. I was impressed with how clean and organized the store was given the amount of foot traffic. The staff did a great job of keeping the shelves well stocked. It seemed like a lot of people were just buying snacks and drinks because that area of the store got hit hard. This Daiso kind of felt like a fancy dollar store. The quality of their products looked way better than anything I would find at a dollar store and I'm sure they would last longer too. With their inexpensive prices that fits any budget, I can see how people can find themselves buying a bunch of random items they may or may not need. read more

In my hundreds of visits here have I never been disrespected and met cashiers as monotone with lack of customer service than on a Sunday night. When your sign reads "Last entry: 7:50," common sense and also anyone who can read would comprehend that at 7:48, customer has a right to enter a store. If that's not the case then change your sign and stop advertising false information. read more

This location review will vary from my review of the Daiso in Daly City, Serramonte; both are vastly different in terms of organization: It's not as clear where everything is, the aisle organization doesn't always make sense but I know they did their best putting seasonal stuff in the very front, and the stationary before the knitting aisle, I get that. What I don't get is why the gift boxes are still obscure and way on the other side from the gift wrap and paper bags? It's also kind of messy, things are strewn like stars here and I guess it's not their fault because they are a busier location! But why are the stickers....never mind because it brings me to the next point Bigger and more of a selection: I saw a ton of housewares and more styles than the Daly City location and maybe even an extra section. Line moves fast and efficiently. They do not take smart pay, Apple Pay or American Express. For cash, a purchase of over $50.00 must be made to accept any $100.00 bill. I want to find out when shipment day is for them Because when they get shipment, the new boxes cover the current merchandise and make it hard to shop but I will say they are adequately staffed especially for the holidays and are clearly doing their best and with a smile. Found a variety of kawaii designed notebooks for my teen. She absolutely loves them. You can definitely feel the Japanese culture in this store... found some origami paper, cool sensu fans, obento food products, and calligraphy pens. Love coming here even if I don't buy anything. I don't need anymore trinkets as my house is already full of things and stuff. Sometimes I just like checking out the merchandise, majority of the items are useful but most of the time I don't need them. LoL! There is no lack of kawaii in Daiso (or Japantown, for that matter). Kawaii meaning "cute" comes in the form of Daiso's innovative household goods. Most items are priced at $1.50. And holy heck, the line that formed outside while I waited became 30 people longer. So it was with anticipation I entered Daiso Japan but I wasn't that impressed: They had an assortment of many things from little kids' "learning to use" chopsticks to stickers, lots of gift bags, tchotchkes (perfect for young kids' birthday goody bags), hand sanitizing liquid and barrettes. Whenever I'm in J-Town I make a point of shopping here. On most visits I'll purchase a few items. They've got everything under the sun. It's like the old five and dime store - inexpensive household and personal items but mostly at $1.50 each in today's dollars and cents. You never know you'll need something until you spot it here. Then it's like I can use that. I always think if I don't like it I can toss it out, but 9 times out if 10 I end up using the item. All sales are final. Cash or credit card. Love making monthly trips to Daiso. Unfortunately, Sonoma County doesn't have one. I'd say this place is similar to a dollar store. Be cautious about pricing, most items are $1.50 and those not have a Japanese price, therefore you'll have to review their conversion tables throughout the store. I've never seen an item for more than $3.00 in there. Items I look for whenever I visit Daiso: Travel accessories, travel wipes, house slippers, pens, stationary, notebooks, cards, organizing containers, Japanese snacks and soft drinks. They have $1.50 Japanese items for every room in the house. The products they offer are exclusive to Daiso stores only which enhances the visit. It's easy to get carried away in here because the items are so cheap but after years of visits I've narrowed downs my list. hehe Like the $1 stores, products come and go so timing is everything in regards to finding things I'm looking for. Overall, I've never walked out of there with a light bag. Located in Japan town, this Daiso store always enhances my visit there. The value I've encountered through the years shopping as been fantastic. Whenever I anticipate a Daiso visit, I'll pack a larger luggage just in case I go to town in there. Such a fun store to find little knick knacks. Best part? Everything is $1.50 unless marked otherwise. I'd say 80% or more of the store is really $1.50. Daiso is like the Japanese Dollar Store, but leaps and bounds BETTER! This location in particular is pretty spacious and you'll find a little bit of everything. There's cosmetic products, stationary, school supplies, household goods, kitchenware, clothing, food.... Basically anything and everything at a fraction of the cost. If only luggage space were limitless, I would be purchasing all the cute dishes, glassware, fun kitchen gadgets, and beauty products! Typical of Asian culture, there are so many "kawaii" things and I'm all about it. Put a bear on a bag, I'll buy it. Put a kitten on a mug, it's mine. Put pandas on scoring pads for dishes, done deal (true story). Totemo kawaii desune! Self-control is definitely challenged when you walk-in here. Whether you're victorious, remains to be seen.
