I'm a big fan of cheap thrills and Daiso does not let me down! The items here are cheap, both in price and quality, however, there are some exceptions. During the holidays Daiso offered pretty wrapping paper and decor. The kitchen area offers cheap teacups, saucers, and glassware. One of the best devices I found here was a travel chopsticks-fork-spoon combo. That little thing saves me a few times while traveling. I also own a collection of sauces that make awesome appetizer plates when hosting cocktail parties. read more

This store is inside the Japan center on post street. It's like a Japanese Walgreens. It's perfect to find gadgets but then also all other items like you would in a pharmacy. If I lived near Japantown I'd be here everyday! This is a large spacious Daiso that you can easily get lost in. And with mostly everything priced at $1.50, you don't spend a lot but feel like you bought a lot. Aside from being a larger space than the Daiso on Market, this location has much more housewares and kitchen supplies as well as snacks. Yes, there still are cute panda items, but it's balanced by other cute stuff. Lots of stuff. I seriously felt a bit anxious and sweaty as I combed the aisles since I had less than half hour before the store closed on my first visit, and even less on my second visit the next day since we were trying to make spa appointments. So the learning lesson is plan to spend a good chunk of time in here and make no plans after, lol! read more

Store is neat, clean, and organized. I love the little shopping carts. You take shopping baskets and put together your own cart. Employees are quick and very friendly. All sales are final. They have a bunch of cool stuff here. I love Daiso's, although I feel this one is smaller than what I'm used to. All Daiso's are usually flooded with people and long lines, this is no different. Fun! Fun! Fun! This puts our Dollar Trees to shame. Daiso is the Japanese version, but prices start at $1.50. If you want a store of fun to shop in, this one is it! The biggest location of several in Bay area. You always need your own shopping bags for shopping. This location has some pretty ones...only $1.50 each. If you check out their dinnerware selection, you will find huge bowls for dollars, way less than in Chinatown or Ikea. They have gadgets you never knew you needed. Sushi magnets, of course are a hit here. Found my cute panda travel pillow for only $4. What's not to like here? Maybe the long lines. So, come before noon. It's easy to spend on cute high quality Knick knacks! They have everything the 99c store has and more. This is a great place to stuff an Easter Basket for the wee ones or even for those of us that are young at heart. I bought lots of beautiful thank-you bags, cards, wrap etc. that you can put a treat in for a colleague or friend. Along with household and organizational supplies, the fun stuff made its way into the basket too. I promise to make all the cute panda bear sushi molds, sandwich presses, and musubi makers that were calling my name. There was another store called IchiBan across the plaza that opened an hour later. Parking in the Japan Center cost me $6.00 for three hours of meandering. For now, I can vouch for Daiso. This is probably the biggest daiso in the Bay Area from the South Bay to SF and of course it's in Japantown!!! I love love daiso and they have everything from stationary to beauty products, snacks, and kitchenware (and even toys for the little ones). Compared to the other daisos I've been to recently, this one is always well stocked. This is the best Diaso in the Bay Area by far! Probably, it's because it's in Japantown. It's a big store inside the mall. There is an underground garage under the mall to park in that you may have to pay. Prices are good and range from $1.50-$4 but mainly all at $1.50 for everything. Some quality is questionable but I love the craft stuff, kitchenware and dining ware. Food is good, too! This is my dollar store even though it's not a dollar to purchase. They have everything and more. I have been to many Diaso stores in the Bay Area and this was the best. I just wish this was closer to home. It's alright. Their staff was super nice. Note that although their official closing time is 8PM, they don't let a customer enter after 7:40PM. We arrived just after and called ahead about a specific item so the store manager let us in and led us to the item we wanted and we were able to get out by 8PM. I usually wouldn't review a Daiso but this one is huge warehouse definitely worth checking out. In addition to the basic items that all Daiso stores carry this one has a better variety and a greater number of items that cost more than $1.50. Everything is well marked it's also obvious what's going to cost more. This may be one of the first ones I've been to before they started popping up all over the place. Size matters. Did you know one of the Daiso stores in the Tokyo 'burbs is 71,000 square feet? Even the one in Serramonte is about 15,500 square feet. This one is a whole lot smaller, kinda like your Aunt Sumiko's closet where she never threw anything away because of the war, y'know. W-W-Two. She keeps the twistees from the plastic bread bag, which of course, she also keeps. She keeps her paper Safeway shopping bags all neatly folded under the sink because...oh wait, I do that, too. I am Aunt Sumiko. That's the type of place this Daiso is. Everything is $1.50. Even the hookers. OK, not the hookers because there isn't room for the hookers, even the skinny ones. Just bowls, kitchen stuff, bathroom stuff, snack stuff, grade school stuff, and tschotskes...lots and lots of tschotskes like the kitty with the arm that goes up and down. I bet you didn't know kitties had arms. I didn't know until I came to J-Town either. The space is in the Japan Center's Miyako Mall one floor down from its soul connection, Ichiban Kan, which ironically has cleaned up its junk-store act. The beauty of competition. Funny thing is that they haven't advertised this Daiso at all. I just happen to see a sign when I was riding the 38-Geary to Brothers Korean Bar-B-Q. Maybe they feel they would "lose face" marketing such a rinky-dink version of their chain. According to the store manager, Daiso will likely move to a bigger location if they can find one. That would be good as I like the Wal-Mart-sized ones better anyway. If I am in a bargain-basement mood, I want to get everything I can at once. You can probably meet your future wife shopping at Daiso if you shop long enough. There are some pretty women here! I got a great deal with these huge soup bowls for $1.50. Some where priced higher, typically, the flowery kinds. I'm not much of a shopper, and I got dizzy shopping here. LOL I was overwhelmed with all the selections and didn't know where to start, so I just went to every aisle, and an hour later, all I ended up with were 6 bowls, a few pairs of shoe stretchers, and a cool tie for only $1.50. That was so sweet. I wore it to work and everyone said, "That's a cool tie!" Who knew, something so cheap, can look so expensive Hahaha... They had a lot of people working here, so if you ever need help, just ask one of the nice gal and she will help you out. By the way, I did manage to buy my "Yan-Yan" here too! Daiso's tend to be a very nice alternative to other dollar stores, and this location follows that trend. Very crowded as a result for being in Japantown, but well organized. Security guard at the front, and the line winds through the store when it gets busy. The customers in Daiso are pretty tame compared to other places, so that helps. read more

Love dollarish stores. Even better this Japanish dollar store. You never know that you need something until you find it here. I have so many spices and of course the one I need was always at the back of the cupboard. But they had colorful plastic sewing kits with lids here that could be stacked. Now when I need a spice, I just grab a container. It makes life easier. Same with other containers both plastic and cloth. All the stuff under the kitchen sink is organized. Pill bottles, paper products, bathroom stuff. So much cheaper than ikea ($3-4) and colorful. Of course they have chopsticks but they have cute dusting mitts, hair accessories and this shaker thing that I put flour in to use for rolling out my homemade pasta. It is a dollar store, and a great one. Haven't been there this trip. Covid restrictions. But maybe soon I'll get to try some of Japanese candies. Oh...and a good place for cheap batteries. Living on the east coast, we're not blessed with a Daiso, so I always stock up here on any goodies I can fit in my luggage. General things I get for myself/gifts are stationary, cute notebooks, Japanese snacks, bento boxes, mugs, colored pens, pencil cases, washi tape, Tea's Tea, makeup products ... the list goes on and on. The obsession is so real that when I have a friend visiting the west coast, I sometimes ask them to bring me back something if they stop by a Daiso. Cashiers are pretty fast from my experience. The checkout line can get long but they move quickly. This location is a great size and if I lived here I would definitely purchase most of my home supplies from Daiso! read more

This Daiso is so big compared to the ones I have seen in Seattle. This one looks like a small department store! And with the larger space comes larger inventory. I saw some items that I haven't seen in the smaller Daiso stores. There is a lot of housewares and knick knacks here. I love the stationery here incliding the orihami paper. They even have stuff like sports watches and cute T-shirts (those are $7 though). Most of the store is $1.50 unless otherwise marked. I find that the quality of Daiso goods is fairly good considering that it's $1.50... if you need one off kitchen supplies I recommend them here. That, and cups. Their Elliptical Core Eyebrow Pencil is the best damn eyebrow pencil I've ever had, FOR $1.50!! And I have tried them all: Dior, Anastasia Beverly Hills, bobby brown, benefit, etc. in terms of color(not too brown, not too gray), staying power, and ease of application. You can also throw on their clear Eyebrow coat, you can run miles and your eyebrows stay the same. It can be also used on top of eyeliner.
