Love making monthly trips to Daiso. Unfortunately, Sonoma County doesn't have one. I'd say this place is similar to a dollar store. A lot of cool, cheap party supplies, gadgets, Japanese junk food and much more. Be cautious about pricing, most items are $1.50 and those not have a Japanese price, therefore you'll have to review their conversion tables throughout the store. Think of your local $1 store. Daiso is the $1.50 store Japanese store with some real quality items with something for just about everyone. Unless noted, all items are $1.50. I've never seen an item for more than $3.00 in there. Items I look for whenever I visit Daiso: Travel accessories, travel wipes, house slippers, pens, stationary, notebooks, cards, organizing containers, Japanese snacks and soft drinks. They have $1.50 Japanese items for every room in the house. The products they offer are exclusive to Daiso stores only which enhances the visit. It's easy to get carried away in here because the items are so cheap but after years of visits I've narrowed downs my list. hehe Like the $1 stores, products come and go so timing is everything in regards to finding things I'm looking for. Overall, I've never walked out of there with a light bag. Located in Japan town, this Daiso store always enhances my visit there. The value I've encountered through the years shopping as been fantastic. Whenever I anticipate a Daiso visit, I'll pack a larger luggage just in case I go to town in there. Such a fun store to find little knick knacks. Best part? Everything is $1.50 unless marked otherwise. I'd say 80% or more of the store is really $1.50. Daiso is like the Japanese Dollar Store, but leaps and bounds BETTER! This location in particular is pretty spacious and you'll find a little bit of everything. There's cosmetic products, stationary, school supplies, household goods, kitchenware, clothing, food.... Basically anything and everything at a fraction of the cost. If only luggage space were limitless, I would be purchasing all the cute dishes, glassware, fun kitchen gadgets, and beauty products! Typical of Asian culture, there are so many "kawaii" things and I'm all about it. Put a bear on a bag, I'll buy it. Put a kitten on a mug, it's mine. Put pandas on scoring pads for dishes, done deal (true story). Totemo kawaii desune! Self-control is definitely challenged when you walk-in here. Whether you're victorious, remains to be seen. They sell expired products! Double check before purchasing anything edible here. Came a few days ago to pickup a few bottles of Moshi Matcha Coconut soda and noticed today they've all been past expiration for over 3 months. I really like this location because they have a wide variety of items and always keep things in stock. However, the cashier I had today was very clumsy and she scanned an item then dropped it back into the basket instead of putting it in the bag. I think it was an honest mistake, but it was kind of annoying to get charged extra for something you didn't buy. I double checked the receipt and items afterwards outside and noticed I was indeed charged twice for one item and extra for a paper bag I didn't buy. But since they were busy, I didn't want to cause a fuss or get her in trouble since she was very nice. It's only $1.50, but please have staff be more careful and thorough in the future. I think they were under a lot of pressure to be quick or something even though it wasn't as busy as it usually is on weekends. read more

It is so sad to see how empty and deserted Japan Town is due to Covid . I am not sure how the merchants survive or how they will come back. Daiso was empty of customers . They offered extra nice touch ... ask customers to use hand sanitizer before entering . Also nice to see the assortment of things they sell. read more

I love Daiso, this location is particularly fun. I was happy to be able to get some fun Halloween stickers, too.

Growing up in San Francisco, one fact has always remained true. Living here is expensive, but you can find some steels in the city, if you know where to look. One of my favorite places to get bowls, cups, bento boxes, chopsticks, and kitchenware is Daiso. They have beautiful clay pots for $5 you can cook on the stove with to make stews, steamed vegetables, and delicious soft scrambled eggs. Those restaurant glass swing drinking bottles for $3 and almost anything else you want! From face masks to stationary this is one of my favorite spots to grab something made of class, ceramic or rubber for the home. read more

I'm a big fan of cheap thrills and Daiso does not let me down! The items here are cheap, both in price and quality, however, there are some exceptions. During the holidays Daiso offered pretty wrapping paper and decor. The kitchen area offers cheap teacups, saucers, and glassware. One of the best devices I found here was a travel chopsticks-fork-spoon combo. That little thing saves me a few times while traveling. I also own a collection of sauces that make awesome appetizer plates when hosting cocktail parties. read more

This store is inside the Japan center on post street. It's like a Japanese Walgreens. It's perfect to find gadgets but then also all other items like you would in a pharmacy. I bought one of their imported juices and it was delicious, it was a lychee drink. The line gets very long which is the only annoying part. read more

If I lived near Japantown I'd be here everyday! This is a large spacious Daiso that you can easily get lost in. And with mostly everything priced at $1.50, you don't spend a lot but feel like you bought a lot. Aside from being a larger space than the Daiso on Market, this location has much more housewares and kitchen supplies as well as snacks. Yes, there still are cute panda items, but it's balanced by other cute stuff. Lots of stuff. I seriously felt a bit anxious and sweaty as I combed the aisles since I had less than half hour before the store closed on my first visit, and even less on my second visit the next day since we were trying to make spa appointments. So the learning lesson is plan to spend a good chunk of time in here and make no plans after, lol! read more

Most items are $1.50, of course I'm a fan! Having first visited Daiso in LA, I was so glad to see that they have one in San Fran as well. I was able to get a bunch of gifts for loved ones. Store is neat, clean, and organized. I love the little shopping carts. You take shopping baskets and put together your own cart. Employees are quick and very friendly. All sales are final. They have a bunch of cool stuff here. Snacks, kitchen supplies, office supplies, sushi making stuff, containers, art supplies, party supplies, wrapping paper, dress shirts, ties, cups, bowls, bags, shower stuff, etc. I love this store so much. read more

I love Daiso's, although I feel this one is smaller than what I'm used to. All Daiso's are usually flooded with people and long lines, this is no different. Almost everything is $1.50, it's not the best quality but you know what you're getting. I like the dog toys for my dog and other little knick knacks. read more

Fun! Fun! Fun! This puts our Dollar Trees to shame. Daiso is the Japanese version, but prices start at $1.50. If you want a store of fun to shop in, this one is it! The biggest location of several in Bay area. You always need your own shopping bags for shopping. This location has some pretty ones...only $1.50 each. If you check out their dinnerware selection, you will find huge bowls for dollars, way less than in Chinatown or Ikea. They have gadgets you never knew you needed. Sushi magnets, of course are a hit here. Found my cute panda travel pillow for only $4. What's not to like here? Maybe the long lines. So, come before noon. But cashiers fill the front when busy and line goes amazingly fast! read more

It's easy to spend on cute high quality Knick knacks! They have everything the 99c store has and more. This is a great place to stuff an Easter Basket for the wee ones or even for those of us that are young at heart. I bought lots of beautiful thank-you bags, cards, wrap etc. that you can put a treat in for a colleague or friend. Along with household and organizational supplies, the fun stuff made its way into the basket too. I promise to make all the cute panda bear sushi molds, sandwich presses, and musubi makers that were calling my name. There was another store called IchiBan across the plaza that opened an hour later. Parking in the Japan Center cost me $6.00 for three hours of meandering. For now, I can vouch for Daiso. In a city where dollar stores are hard to find, Daiso gets two thumbs up! read more

idk why, but I was obsessed with Daiso in Taiwan. finding a Daiso in SF was with pure giddiness. Daiso USA is not the way I remember Daiso in Taiwan, but still so many cute things. I love all the thing-a-bobs I can get here for cheap & I love that my husband would question me on everything I'm buying, "is that really necessary?". from stickers to home improvement to plant stands!! This is probably the biggest daiso in the Bay Area from the South Bay to SF and of course it's in Japantown!!! I love love daiso and they have everything from stationary to beauty products, snacks, and kitchenware (and even toys for the little ones). Compared to the other daisos I've been to recently, this one is always well stocked. Size matters. Did you know one of the Daiso stores in the Tokyo 'burbs is 71,000 square feet? Even the one in Serramonte is about 15,500 square feet. This one is a whole lot smaller, kinda like your Aunt Sumiko's closet where she never threw anything away because of the war, y'know. W-W-Two. She keeps the twistees from the plastic bread bag, which of course, she also keeps. She keeps her paper Safeway shopping bags all neatly folded under the sink because...oh wait, I do that, too. I am Aunt Sumiko. That's the type of place this Daiso is. Everything is $1.50. Even the hookers. OK, not the hookers because there isn't room for the hookers, even the skinny ones. Just bowls, kitchen stuff, bathroom stuff, snack stuff, grade school stuff, and tschotskes...lots and lots of tschotskes like the kitty with the arm that goes up and down. I bet you didn't know kitties had arms. I didn't know until I came to J-Town either. The space is in the Japan Center's Miyako Mall one floor down from its soul connection, Ichiban Kan, which ironically has cleaned up its junk-store act. The beauty of competition. Funny thing is that they haven't advertised this Daiso at all. I just happen to see a sign when I was riding the 38-Geary to Brothers Korean Bar-B-Q. Maybe they feel they would "lose face" marketing such a rinky-dink version of their chain. According to the store manager, Daiso will likely move to a bigger location if they can find one. That would be good as I like the Wal-Mart-sized ones better anyway. If I am in a bargain-basement mood, I want to get everything I can at once. There are 2,500 of these stores in Japan, all a whole lot bigger. Surely we could get a jumbo-size one somewhere in this city. read more

This is the best Diaso in the Bay Area by far! Probably, it's because it's in Japantown. It's a big store inside the mall. There is an underground garage under the mall to park in that you may have to pay. Prices are good and range from $1.50-$4 but mainly all at $1.50 for everything. Some quality is questionable but I love the craft stuff, kitchenware and dining ware. Food is good, too! This is my dollar store even though it's not a dollar to purchase. They have everything and more. I have been to many Diaso stores in the Bay Area and this was the best. I just wish this was closer to home. It's alright. Their staff was super nice. Note that although their official closing time is 8PM, they don't let a customer enter after 7:40PM. We arrived just after and called ahead about a specific item so the store manager let us in and led us to the item we wanted and we were able to get out by 8PM. You can probably meet your future wife shopping at Daiso if you shop long enough. There are some pretty women here! I got a great deal with these huge soup bowls for $1.50. Some where priced higher, typically, the flowery kinds. I'm not much of a shopper, and I got dizzy shopping here. LOL I was overwhelmed with all the selections and didn't know where to start, so I just went to every aisle, and an hour later, all I ended up with were 6 bowls, a few pairs of shoe stretchers, and a cool tie for only $1.50. That was so sweet. I wore it to work and everyone said, "That's a cool tie!" Who knew, something so cheap, can look so expensive Hahaha... They had a lot of people working here, so if you ever need help, just ask one of the nice gal and she will help you out. By the way, I did manage to buy my "Yan-Yan" here too! Lines can be long at the checkout, but they're fast. Oh one thing I learned though, if you are buying ceramics like soup bowls, you have to wrap it yourself with newspapers. Just a heads up! Every household item, kitchenware and weird, fetishy decor needs you have, guaranteed you will find it here. Everything has a bit of Japanese flair to it and the best thing is that most things are made and imported from Japan, so you know quality is superb. If I could, I would buy a bunch of bowls, food containers and kitchenwares because they are so damn cheap and I honestly don't care for the cutesy, animated, kitty designs. It's like shopping at a dollar store here--people just grab a basket and are prepared to knock stuff down into their baskets. Snacks, however, are regular pricing. I usually wouldn't review a Daiso but this one is huge warehouse definitely worth checking out. In addition to the basic items that all Daiso stores carry this one has a better variety and a greater number of items that cost more than $1.50. Everything is well marked it's also obvious what's going to cost more. This may be one of the first ones I've been to before they started popping up all over the place. This Daiso is probably the biggest one I've been to. The rows just keep on going! For those that have never been, the store resembles a bargain store like dollar tree.
