    Household essentials for cheap
    Yvonne C.

Not all Daiso locations are the same. This location is medium size but it carries the essentials that I am looking for bathroom organization. The layout of the store fits my needs and make sense the most. I don't frequent this location often as I live in the East Bay but I always drop by when in the area and it always seems pleasant. I've dropped by twice in one week and always look forward to see what I can need.

Daiso always has everything I'm looking for and more! The prices are super affordable, which makes it easy to stock up on essentials and fun finds. I usually try to come during the week when it's not as busy, and that makes the shopping experience even better. Sure, you could probably find sodas or some of the snacks cheaper at a grocery store, but for just about everything else here, the value is hard to beat. I've always had good experiences shopping at this location. The only small hiccup was when I paid with a $100 bill -- it took a while for them to verify it -- but aside from that, everything went smoothly. Overall, I really enjoy coming here and will definitely keep coming back.

PRICES INCREASED TO $2.25 PER ITEM now, citing tariffs, effective June 2025! SAD face -- no actually, crying face There was no sign or warning and the cashier didn't even tell me, just ringing me up like normal. Would've really appreciated a sign at the entrance or some sort of announcement before I got to check out. Person behind me said the same thing. I pickup many unnecessary things, because I like shopping! It's a thrill. But at the higher price point, some items are just not worth it or I can get them better price elsewhere, especially if I don't need it. Store's Really fun to browse! All kinds of knick knacks I don't need. To buy or not to buy. This store is big, although some aisles tight so hard to squeeze by if there are already more than 2 people there in that aisle.

The Daiso in San Francisco Japantown (West Mall) is one of the largest Daisos I've been to, and it's packed with all sorts of affordable finds. They often put holiday decorations on sale after the season ends, which is nice if you want to stock up for next year. I personally enjoy browsing their plates and kitchenware section--lots of cute and functional items. However, the store layout feels a bit scattered, making it less intuitive to navigate. It also gets crowded on weekends, which can make shopping a bit cramped. It's easy to get tempted into buying a lot here, but as expected, the quality aligns with the price. Service was good--I got help finding what I needed, and the cashier was efficient. Overall, this Daiso is worth visiting and browsing around if your ever in the SF Japan Town area.

I'm seeing a lot of comments about long lines at this Diaso but I'm not seeing the long lines. If you go in the middle of a holiday weekend (especially) or any weekend you will see lines. But if you go at nine or ten AM during the week, you will have the place to yourself! And parking at the meters is 30 minutes for a quarter. I love the crafty things best - washi tapes, glue, masking tapes, pretty envelopes and stationery', clear bags..... the list goes on and on..... Japanese snacks and drinks, as someone else mentioned, are fun to try too. And for kids -- they can pick out a fun if fun stuff for not very much money. I love Diaso!

This Daiso store is located in Japantown, and it's on the ground level of the mall. The entrance is quite narrow and it gets deep further inside, overall packed shelves and poor air conditioning system.

Does anyone know why this particular one has green signage, rather than pink? I'm guessing because Japan Town didn't want a garish color but I'm not sure. Anyway, this is a great Daiso because of the amount of inventory which might be because they have higher ceilings than the ones I've been too. If you don't know what a Daiso is, it's kinda like a Japanese Dollar Tree, so everything is cheap and costs $1.75. My favorite sections are the snack section, the kitchen and electronic organizers, and the stationary stuff. This is like a store made exclusively of stuff you don't really need, but you will find a way to make it work because everything looks clean and cute.

If you're in Japantown, your visit is not complete without going here. It is located in the East Mall near the Peace Plaza. First and biggest store when you enter the building, so it's easy to spot. This store is equipped with what you would find in a typical Daiso--organization, electronics, home, apparel, etc. It has everything you want, need, and didn't know you even needed. Because Japantown is a popular location, the store tends to be packed, even moreso when it's the weekend or there's an event going on. The line usually stretches all the way around the corner of the store and it gets hard to walk around the aisles. Sometimes there are boxes of items that are yet to be organized, limiting the pathways even more. Overall though, this is a great discount store with so many cute finds, and this place is a must whenever I go to Japantown.

This was definitely the busiest Daiso I've ever been to. It was a crowd of people inside and a long line at the registers. Thankfully, most people were just buying a few things so the line moved along quickly. The inside of this Daiso was quite big. They had a huge selection of small items you might need around the house with a lot of different choices to choose from. Last time I went to a smaller Daiso, I needed to buy a soap tray and they only had 1 kind but this store had different styles and colors. I was impressed with how clean and organized the store was given the amount of foot traffic. The staff did a great job of keeping the shelves well stocked. It seemed like a lot of people were just buying snacks and drinks because that area of the store got hit hard. This Daiso kind of felt like a fancy dollar store. The quality of their products looked way better than anything I would find at a dollar store and I'm sure they would last longer too. With their inexpensive prices that fits any budget, I can see how people can find themselves buying a bunch of random items they may or may not need.

Went back to the Daiso store in Japantown pick up another cute BT21 product: a Chimmy cable tie. The store was heck-a busy this time but still so tidy and well organized. The cashier was a bit more pleasant this time around.

I love the dog section here! Everything in my cart cost $7, such a steal! You can find everything you need here for a super low price!

This location review will vary from my review of the Daiso in Daly City, Serramonte; both are vastly different in terms of organization: It's not as clear where everything is, the aisle organization doesn't always make sense but I know they did their best putting seasonal stuff in the very front, and the stationary before the knitting aisle, I get that. What I don't get is why the gift boxes are still obscure and way on the other side from the gift wrap and paper bags? It's also kind of messy, things are strewn like stars here and I guess it's not their fault because they are a busier location! But why are the stickers....never mind because it brings me to the next point Bigger and more of a selection: I saw a ton of housewares and more styles than the Daly City location and maybe even an extra section. Line moves fast and efficiently. They do not take smart pay, Apple Pay or American Express. For cash, a purchase of over $50.00 must be made to accept any $100.00 bill. I want to find out when shipment day is for them Because when they get shipment, the new boxes cover the current merchandise and make it hard to shop but I will say they are adequately staffed especially for the holidays and are clearly doing their best and with a smile. Hope that helps!

11.07.20 notebooks for the teen $1.50/ea
    May A.

Huge Daiso store in Japantown, San Francisco Sometimes called the Japanese Dollar Store but more cute stuff and more unique items that are not found in a Dollar Store. Daiso products are super cheap and good quality and they have a wide range of cultural merchandise line from home goods and snacks, to stationery and cosmetics. Found a variety of kawaii designed notebooks for my teen. She absolutely loves them. You can definitely feel the Japanese culture in this store... found some origami paper, cool sensu fans, obento food products, and calligraphy pens. Love coming here even if I don't buy anything. I don't need anymore trinkets as my house is already full of things and stuff. Sometimes I just like checking out the merchandise, majority of the items are useful but most of the time I don't need them. LoL! There is no lack of kawaii in Daiso (or Japantown, for that matter). Kawaii meaning "cute" comes in the form of Daiso's innovative household goods. Most items are priced at $1.50. It gets crowded in here so entry to the store is monitored and you might find yourself in a long line to get in. Masks are required inside the store. Business hours are everyday from 10:00a to 7:00p. A Daiso store can be found in many shopping malls nowadays. Review #2003

Do they accept 100 dollar bills?

Only if you spend over $50.00.... My bill today was $144.00 and I was worried they wouldn't take $200 ( Two hundreds) but they did. Hope that helps. for anyone reading this they don't take Apple Pay or American Express or any smart pay at all.

I walked in five minutes before closing to find a jacket and while walking in the store a man walks by and without making eye contacts tells me in a rude tone, we are closed! I then tried to get his attention to ask where I could find jackets; he tried to ignore me and I insisted and said "excuse me, I have a question"; I was trying to get his attention so I could catch his name. His name was Fernando. He quickly said where to find jackets in (of course) a rude tone. I ended up not buying anything because I didn't want to shop at an establishment that was so awful. I left the store with three minutes left until closing. The fact that this man was so rude and even dared tell me they were closed as I was just walking quickly to grab a jacket was unwelcoming and just rude. I was taking my time; I was walking fast because I was mindful of the workers there and the amount of customers still in the store. I was on a two day work trip and didn't bring a thick jacket and San Francisco had a very cold day (locals were telling me it was colder than usual) and I only had five minutes to find a jacket. It's ironic, that there were drug addict men in the store but of course they were not told it was closed; here I am dressed up in formal work clothes and I am approached by that Fernando guy essentially telling me to leave. This can't be solved by training but supervising employees better; this man seems to be free to act this way without repercussions.

Review #985 Posted on 1.7.26…read more I stopped in here on New Years Eve to get some umbrellas as it was raining in San Francisco and we forgot ours at home. This place is right near where they're about to open up a jollibee and right outside of the BART Powell St Station exit. There's a security presence here but for some reason they don't just enforce getting rid of the people crowding around the entrance and exits both at the front. Not very welcoming. The store itself is huge, you can get all kinds of clothes you maybe forgot when traveling to the city, or other snacks, same as any other Ross except way more stuff. Worth popping in here if you're near to grab something you may need.

The majority of SF residents blame the city officials for letting criminals and homelessness go free, which made most retail stores shut down due to robberies. Less than 28 stores remained in business. The best part is that the public restrooms are still open, and there's access to BART/MUNI near the GNC Store. The best shopping mall in SF is Stonestown Galleria, next to San Francisco State University, where you can take the MUNI train M.

They had a lot of dress jackets and there were a few men trying some on in the aisles. The prices were decent, but I just wasn't able to find anything that I was looking for. I also checked out accessories like belts, ties and specifically I was looking for a leather messenger/ laptop type bag for men. They really didn't have anything like that, but the bag and luggage area was well organized even though there was a ton of overstock, ao much so that some was particularly blocking the entrance to the fitting rooms. I did also see a lot of extra luggage stored all along the glass divider near the escalators but again I couldn't find what I was looking for. I can't speak to the helpfulness of the staff because when I have been here they have been so busy I haven't been able to find someone to ask, without waiting in line at the cashier and I'm not willing to do that for a question. It would have been nice and helpful to have someone on the floor available to assist but I understand that they get busy. This is definitely a store worth stopping at for clothing, but in the future I will pass if I am looking for shoes or accessories. And even though it's not huge, just make sure that you have plenty of time to sort through the racks to find what you're looking for when you decide to stop in.

First I tried Ross Stores and I discovered how bad a store can be, and then I tried Target and it was so very much better than Ross. Ross had few employees who were able to answer questions including: "Where are your belts located?" I was not sure about what sized belt I needed, so I took two belts over to the fitting room. Ross Stores stupidly would not allow any belts inside of their fitting room. The reason that Ross employees gave is that "A belt is not clothing" which is a dishonest reason because, of course a belt is clothing, but after dealing with their staff's idiocy I felt that I needed a belt of whiskey. To save time, I chose not to drink. Their policy made no sense to me, and I have plenty of experience in retail stores. Afterwards I wrote a complaint to Ross. Their reply included an insincere apology. It was insincere because they still insisted on this policy, for the dishonest reason that a belt, they claimed, is not clothing. I then went to Target and had a pleasant and successful shopping experience. They were happy to let me take two belts inside of their fitting room. I found the right sized belt for me, and I walked out of Target with my purchase, happy to have had such a pleasant shopping experience at Target. Given a choice between Target and Ross, I will always choose Target. I do not recommend Ross which is sometimes called Ross Shop For Less, but its full name should be Ross Shop For Less Satisfaction. In fairness to Ross Stores, it could have been the inspiration for a hit song by The Rolling Stones: "I Can't Get No Satisfaction."
