It's not a discount if the sign says $1.00. If I didn't say anything, they would have cheated me out of more than $10.

Some cute stuff, but watch out. They do tacky marketing cons, almost got me for $10. For example, I bought a bunch of pencils that were a great deal, but at the register, they were no longer a dollar each, they were 2.29! When I asked her, if they were a dollar, she said oh yes, and immediate pressed the discount button and charged me 1.15 for them. Yes, I bought a $37 canteen there. But, the whole thing felt gross, and as nice as the lady was, she was participating in a con. I'm not sure who owns this place, but it's not someone with scruples. It's gross and unethical. It's not how America works. They said they would not change the sign and had no intention to change it. It was out of their control.

A must visit for those who like Japanese stationery or macaron erasers. Itoya Topdrawer feels like an older, more adult version of Maido. While IT carries cute things, the designs tend to be more understated and they don't have a large section devoted to San X character merchandise or a large number of pens. There are fewer pens here but they tend to be nicer (including fountain pens). The leather desk accessories and Kolo photo albums come in a variety of colors. They carry a wide variety of elegant patterned furoshiki, the Japanese fabric wrapping cloth. I also spotted wonderful greeting cards, notebooks of all shapes and sizes, planners, toys, puzzles, Tokyo Milk cologne, origami paper, printed tape, tape dispensers, jewelry, etc. The cupcake and macaron erasers are $1 each. My picks: * Clever flat metal letter openers shaped like pens, Swiss army knives and scissors * Paper bags with graphic prints * Bacon sandwich tags, I think they're bookmarks

Expect your first time visit would be about 45 minutes in the store because there are so many things to explore! Fine pens and stationery, travel accessories and smart light weight backpacks.. This is my new favorite store in the Marina. Excellent for gifts and self rewards :-)

From funky, modern cookbooks to cute stuffed animals, purses, youthful and quirky women's clothes, beautiful silk scarves, and feminine jewelry (including real gold earrings!), to lots of fun cards for any occasion (including Jewish holidays, which is important to me!), socks with funny sayings on them, hipster aprons, soaps, candles, fun tchotchkes of all sorts, there's a LOT to delight in inside this wonderful store! I would call it WHEELCHAIR-ACCESSIBLE, because the entry is definitely accessible, and if anything isn't, the employees go out of their way to move things and make it accessible! Their attitudes in general are very friendly and helpful, as is that of the owner (it's a woman-owned store!). Therapy doesn't close until 7:30 pm, which gives you plenty of time to run in for a birthday card and gift after you leave work and are on your way to a friend's birthday party! Overall, Therapy is a fun, quirky, happy-feeling store, and I love that it's managed to survive the last few decades on Valencia St.!
