No one should feel as though they are being done a favor by frequenting a shop let alone checked out by a sour puss. I've heard it's closing and yet the manager is still continuing on with this attitude. Farewell!

Having spent much of my younger "Yeah I'm going out of the house dressed like this, what's the big…read moredeal?" years in NJ - I've developed a strange fascination for short denim shorts. I spied some in the window here the other day and just had to go inside. I've been trying not to spend money on clothes - since my closet literally is overflowing with a wealth of garments that I have yet to wear, but I couldn't help but do some browsing here. As far as clothing - Gala has a hip, nice selection of things. They carry an abundance of Free People clothes, designer jeans, beautiful jewelry and a vast selection of soft cotton shirts, dresses and more.I found alot of the clothes to be fairly muted in color - alot of beiges, blacks, whites, and blues; nice, casual, chic, and wearable - but nothing really popped. That being said - everything felt amazing and high quality to the touch and if I had the space in my closet, and the money in my wallet - I would love to rock any and all of the clothes in Gala. The fourth star is for the friendly woman, working here. She was patient when I was walking around the store, and was more than willing to help - when I had questions about the best place to wait for a cab in the rain. If you're in Larkspur - stop by Gala - if even just to window browse. Their stuff is on the pricier end of things, but it sounds like they rotate their clothes fairly often, and if you're looking for stylish practical wear - they carry a great selection of comfortable and flattering outfits.

This place is like a trap! I swear I think there isn't…read moreanything for me each time I walk in here...but no! Shakti the stylist there is awesome. She's on my same HIGH wavelength of things ahead of the curve. Ever since Cavallo closed in Mill Valley there has not been that niche store for me locally. Picky one. Nicolette fills that void! It's those awesome basics that are totally unique and instant must haves! The buyers are on point and an in house stylist to boot, (who doesn't work on comission!=credibilty). I dare you you to try to get out of here with nothing! Love this place! (like with HEARTS) ;-)

I have been to Nicolette twice in the last month. But it was my latest visit today that prompted…read moreme to sign up for a Yelp account, just so I could share my thoughts about this store and its owner. To be honest, I am really not one to write reviews on businesses...and even if I've had a bad experience - tend to just shrug it off. But I'm still thinking about my visit today and feel compelled to write a review. There was no one else in the store, and I was not greeted upon entering. I had been in the store a few minutes, and I heard 'hello'. I looked over and smiled - thinking the owner was saying hello to me. But she actually was saying hello to an older woman that came into the shop. The owner was so friendly with this other customer, I wondered if she even knew I was in the store. Feeling a little sheepish - I continued to browse the racks. Then, a group of 3 women came in and she had a warm hello for all of them as well. Apparently, she had already pulled some items for them and set up dressing rooms prior to their arrival. I found a couple of items to try on and went to the back to ask for a room. She ignored me at first. No one was in the 2nd dressing room - but she tried to put me in the storage closet. I actually had my 14 month old son in an Ergo carrier...and she wanted to put us in a storage closet with tons of things that could fall on him. She finally relented and let me in the dressing room, but only after I promised that I wouldn't take too long. (I only had 2 sweaters to try on.) The owner treated me as if I was a burden to her. She did not want to spend any time helping me, any time to even greet me, and just seemed simply irritated that I was even in the store - wanting to try something on. I would recommend crossing the street and going to Gala. They are always so gracious and welcoming...not to mention they have the most beautiful and precious things for sale. (That's exactly what I did today...and I picked up a beautiful Chan Luu necklace and scarf.) Lastly, I wanted to mention that there is a small dog in Nicolette. (I didn't notice it at all, as she was in a bag behind the counter.) I found this out on my first visit about a month ago. My husband and son came into the store while I was browsing. My husband let my 14 month old son stand on the floor. He was not even walking around - just standing. The dog started barking and then charged at him. Thanks to my husband's quick reflexes, my husband scooped up my frightened son - and thankfully he was not harmed. I also want to mention that I was never greeted, nor did the owner speak to me the entire time I was in the store. Only when her dog almost bit my son did she say anything to us. She never apologized, only stating that her dog "loves" kids. My son was not hurt, and it could have been worse. So I just chalked this up to maybe not a good day. But now after my 2nd visit, I should have seen signs of the way the owner conducts business and treats people (even babies) in general. Again, she never apologized. She never even acknowledged my husband or myself...she just kept trying to show us that her dog really likes kids by sticking her dog in my baby's face. My husband was gracious enough to allow her to do this, but I wish we just got out of there like bats out of hell. That's what I felt like then - and how I felt after my 2nd visit to Nicolette.

Happy Earth Day 2026!…read more If you're a data driven person like me, you know or will look up the tons of clothing that are polluting the planet. Solution? Resell or donate the things you no longer find useful, no longer want, and/or no longer bring you joy. The beauty of being a stylish woman? Someone out there wants the things I don't. They really REALLY do. Create space in your wardrobe and jewelry box, get some cash in your bank account, it's all good. Reaching out to The RealReal to start your consignment has never been easier. Once you contact a representative, they can send someone to you home, send a truck to do a front door pickup, or email you a label to ship the items you want to sell. So convenient! Once they receive the items, you will receive notification. They will have their experts review the items authenticity, photograph them, and list them. You will get a link to watch your items as they launch and sell. The cash lands in the account of your choice. Your beautiful things are now someone elses beautiful things with renewed positive energy. It's all so very wonderful and you saved those things from clogging the landfills and littering the planet. It's a win win, my favorite!

Since I had missed the return window, I listed them on Facebook Marketplace--only for the listing to be immediately flagged as fake. That raised a red flag, so I took the shoes to a well-respected designer consignment store in San Francisco. Their authentication expert pointed out three separate signs that the shoes were not genuine. So, not real real after all. When I took the shoes to The RealReal in Larkspur, I was directed to a text-based chat with a "specialist" who told me that because the return window had passed, there was nothing they could do. I'm now out over $400 for two pairs ( one with a broken heel that they said I should have come in right away about). Extremely disappointed. A company that claims to care about luxury and sustainability should at the very least stand behind the authenticity of what it sells. This experience makes me seriously question their values.

I too am a very disgruntled customer. Back in February…read moreweeks before covid I was in the process of moving and had a carload of high end designer clothing that I took in to consign, Bridgette was estatic seeing all the beautiful pieces she said would sell easily if not in the store she would post on line in her Poshmark store. We counted over 80 pieces of evening gowns ,cashmere coat, designer hats , dresses many high - end pieces . The owner Bridgette was so delighted and not to worry she would send an itemized list of everything I left entrusted to her. WRONG DECISION on my part . Covid started a few weeks after and I let a few months go by hearing she had lost her son and knowing she wasn't open due to covid , I reached out in emails ,numerous phone calls & texts, to no avail. Meanwhile my husband died tragically in late August of same year(my witness who unloaded all the clothes initially). Needless to say I was in seclusion for 6 mons.or so mourning my loss. Several times over the last 3 years I've reached out asking for the itemized list and was told she had gave it to me . She hadn't done so ,she had the list confused with the prior lot I dropped off which did indeed I did relieve that list and got paid a couple of checks. She continually had lied and said she had sent an itemized list of the most recent drop off. She has conti ued to shine me on and when I went in earlier this week she said she had nothing and didn't owe me anything!!! I AM LIVID TO SAY THE LEAST !!! She has outright stolen over roughly $5000 worth of my belongings!!! She is a dishonest store owner. I consign at various stores in Marin and still have wonderful repore with all 6 consignment stores I work with here in Marin EXCEPT FOR SUGAR NEVER, NEVER have I run into such dishonest thievery from a business owner. Besides the fact she REEKED of ALCOHOL & had so much pastey makeup on . Forgetful, unprofessional and dishonest business owner . I see I am not the only upset customer that she has ripped off !!! She steals from people like you and I in order to profit from her unsuccessful business. She'll STEAL from you too. Beware, forewarned.
