Our go to place for coffee in Vancouver. Some of the best beans in town. Award winning. Cool vibe, ample space to work.
Ambiance: 3/5 Service: 4/5 Food/drink: 3/5 Overall: 3/5 I was looking for a cafe to get some work done at and remembered this cafe that I had passed by many times so decided to go in. Even on a weekday morning around 10AM this spot was super busy! It only has 1 long table for working so I noticed that almost all of the 2 seater tables and couches were being taken up by people on their laptops which I imagine can get annoying for people looking to enjoy their drinks with some friends. I didn't try any of their pastries because none stood out to me but for a drink I got a chai latte. It was pretty watered down and disappointing but they had quite an extensive coffee menu so I'm guessing they do a much better job with their coffee drinks. Overall, I wasn't super impressed with this cafe so would likely go to other places in the area since mount pleasant has a lot of cafe options to choose from
Apart from their amazing coffee and cafe food, they are located right by a dog park!! Feel free to grab a cup of coffee and sit by the park for dog watching.
This charming cafe is in a nicely quiet area. Good Ambiance. Lovely spot. Not overly busy. A little hidden even. I came in to check it out and it was very cozy. The only problem was my chai latte had no flavour. It was just way off the mark. Too bad.
Super cute and aesthetic place. The staff is extremely friendly and the vibe is super cozy. Everything is a little bit overpriced... but what isn't at a coffee shop haha the coffees here are good, but nothing amazing or unique. Just a solid cafe solid 3.5/5 stars
**COVID 2ND WAVE** Located in the less busy eighth Avenue and across from a park, this coffee shop is constantly busy with customers. Free street parking is easily available. There's a patio with 3 couples patio tables. There are 6 groups of tables inside for those who wants to sit for a bit. Limited to 45mins. We liked how we get to choose the espresso to use in our drinks. We ordered: - Small cappuccino (8oz - 1 shot) with Conca d'Oro (vanilla, coco notes) ($3.50) (3/5): Not much flavour in the espresso, the richness is missing from the cream. The medium costs $4.25 and it is 10oz. Why such a huge jump in price for extra 2oz without an extra shot? Not sure. - Large (one size) Turkiscle with Calabreeze (bold, dark chocolate notes) (10oz) ($5.25) (4/5): it's a cold drink. Not too sweet considering they have white and dark chocolate in there. However, we felt like it tasted like a slight fancier iced mocha from Tim Hortons. Quite hefty in price for what we tasted. Overall: The price is sorta high for the volume we get. Not sure if we will return.
As far as coffee shops go in Vancouver, Milano is a pretty consistent stop for me for a few reasons: 1) Spacious, plenty of seating, and a large patio for those warm, sunny days. 2) Friendly barista service. I always have a great conversation with the baristas here. 3) Strong, well made coffee. I'm a black coffee drinker 90% of the time, but on the 10% of days I choose to get a latte or americano, it's been well made here. 4) Fast, free wifi. For a remote worker, this is key, and I've never once had any issues. 5) Plenty of street parking right outside. If you're looking for a place to meet someone over coffee or get some work done with your laptop, Milano is a good spot to do that!
Just recently picked up some beans from Milano and we loved them! The fragrant of the espresso was rich and bold and the taste was very creamy. Will definition come back here again to grab dinner more beans and try out the drinks there too! The cafe looks like a very nice relaxing place to lounge and enjoy a cup of Joe especially on a rainy Vancouver day!
Came here three days in a row with colleagues when we rented a nearby office space for the week. The staff are super friendly and upbeat. Best cortado I've had in the city!
Great coffee, great staff, great atmosphere. Iced latte was served in a mason jar, so you know it's certified Vancouver hip. Music is not too loud, lots of seating. Patio overlooks the park and mountainous Vancouver skyline on a fairly quiet street. This is definitely a spot I'd be happy to work or study for a few hours. Its not the best coffee I've ever had, I'd say four stars, but I keep coming back for the staff and amazing.
I tried their latte here. It was just ok. I could find better latte somewhere else. A lot of hipsters like to visit this coffee shop. Students with laptops like to sit here and do their homework or research. The price of each of the beverages is reasonable or about the same like other cafes'. Overall, its quality is better than Starbucks but I would buy and drink latte somewhere else. It is hard to find free parking in this neighbourhood. There are lots of parking meters outside the coffee shop but I wouldn't want to pay for parking just because I want to buy a coffee here.
Milano definitely has one of the best tasting coffee in the lower mainland. I love all of their locations but I wished they were closer to me so i can go more often. The interior of the cafe is relaxing and I'd say multi purpose. You can come here to work, study, chat or just enjoy me time. The delicious coffee and banana bread are added bonus. I love how their version of the banana bread is rich in banana taste and not overly sweet. read more

MILANO 2026 not ADOWA 1896 It's Vancouver ambience , not the corporate like Starbucks, Tim's ... it's like a mini version of North Beach SF .. had great coffee and pasty selection They roast the their own coffee in the back unlike other Neanderthal coffee places that heat up water and dump in the beans like Fred Flintstone . Has great piped in groovy funky music .. Added bonus is great view of Jonathon Rodgers Park .. impressive award wall of certifications and awards ... reminds people Italy that Italy' is not just pizza and Spaghetti or the humiliating defeat by Ethiopia at Adowa in 1896 .. read more

I went to Gastown for dinner a month ago, and I saw a nice and upscale coffee shop there. However, it closed. Therefore, I planned to try it out when I get a chance. Of coz, the 8th ave one more causal but it has a nice view if you sit at patio. The service was a bit slow, the coffee dipping is cool. I loved the banana mocha, it's so favorable!! read more

So far one of the best cafe for cappuccino in Vancouver. They roast their own coffee bean. Enjoy your coffee there in a relaxed way, don't order to go...... read more
Great spot to meet friends for a snack or warm beverage -- or to spend time by yourself with a laptop or a book. Note that there are only electrical outlets to plug in on one side. Went on a Sunday about 11am to get some work done and was able to snag a table near the electrical outlets. Got an English breakfast tea for $3.15 and set up in a corner nook. Needed my headphones to drown out the noise distraction, as Milano does a great business and there are lots of people looking to spend time there. There was a steady flow of folks making use of their outdoor seating--even though it was a tad chilly the sun was shining. Would love to see more coffee shops in the area like Milano that make excellent use of their space, have gorgeous views of the city, and provide free unlimited wifi! read more

* Great, in theory * Ok, I love the idea of what they are trying to do here. An espresso tasting bar with 8 different types of espresso "on tap" is a wonderful idea. Particularly one that roasts the beans on site for maximum freshness. Great concept. Add in a comfortable modern decor with a view of the park across the street and the skyline and mountains behind it, and you have a winning concept. For coffee addicts/people in need of a lot of stimulation, the flight of 3 different espressos sounds like a great idea too. I tried the "La Futura" blend espresso, which was touted as having a caramel finish. Sounded good. Sadly what I received was an espresso that had not been properly made. I'm guessing they didn't tamper the coffee correctly, as it had a strong aftertaste of grounds instead of caramel. There were coffee grounds throughout the espresso, making for a very unpleasant taste and texture. Very disappointing for a place that claims to specialize in espresso. Here is a photo: http://www.yelp.ca/biz_photos/lG1o4Zb08AGxabl30Truew?select=Am2n_TE-5Gcow1MH0ZRLIw I much prefer the espresso at the Elysian Room, where they always seem to serve perfect shots: http://www.yelp.ca/biz/the-elysian-room-vancouver-2 P.S. I went back again today (8/1) to give it another chance. Same issue with the espresso. Grounds. I don't get it. I think they really just aren't tampering it correctly. Oh well. I won't be going back anytime soon now. read more

Cycled here on my way back from Downtown - the cafe faces out onto a nice open field, which makes a refreshing change from the crazy bustle of the city! No where to park up my bike - it's currently chained up to the lamppost down the street, so I sip my latte in slight terror that it won't be there when I return! Do not order a small latte, it really is tiny, like for a little child ;) I panicked upon seeing the size of the cup, and hurriedly upgraded to a medium! It's a nice latte, a little bitter for my taste as usual. Maybe I have strange tastes, huh? "I don't want it tasting too much like coffee!!" Friendly guy serving, said hello and asked how i was the moment I entered :) "Sweaty and tired from cycling!" would have been the honest response, hehe. Nice and open, mix of hard and soft seats, with outdoor seating too. Now to check if my bike's still there!! read more

Love Milano's coffee. I usually order a long pull espresso. It has very good body and I enjoy every sip. They have several espresso beans to choose from. My favourites are Conca d'oro and La Futura. My boyfriend and I usually order different coffee and taste how good they are, but also how different they taste. The place overlooks a park and it's a nice place to sit down and have coffee. I find that it's so much better to taste their coffee from a real cup rather than from a paper cup. I don't know why, but I suppose that's how we should be drinking coffee. read more

Amazing ! Very tasty and affordable prices I'd come back again Service is amazing and really nice Bathroom and tables need to be cleaned more often read more
I was in Portland last year at Spella cafe. The barista there said they love Milano Roasters in Vancouver. Spella cafe is an incredibly awesome place to get perfectly pulled espressos therefore I trusted the barista's judgement. I went in on a Sunday afternoon with my boyfriend. It was foggy outside and when we walked in, it was busy but managed to get the last table. The atmosphere was cosy and the staff were friendly and said hi to us first when we sat down. I went with the raspberry mocha and the bf ordered an Americano and the espresso tasters. We also had their gluten free baked goods. I loved my raspberry mocha. It was made perfectly. I don't drink straight espresso or americanos but my boyfriend boldly said Milano's was the best Americano he's ever had. We spent the next hour sipping our drinks and playing Carcasonne. It's the perfect place to meet friends, read or work on your laptop. I'll definitely come back in the summer when the patio is open! read more

Milano is a great neighbourhood cafe with a beautiful location over looking a park and downtown Vancouver. I had the hedgehog mocha and the banana bread (it had tiny chocolate flake in it), which were both to die for. read more

I'm not much of a coffee connoisseur so don't take my advice on them. I usually get one of the different special espressos for an energy boost and sit down with my MacBook to write. It's a good atmosphere, good music, big space overlooking a huge green park. Street doesn't have lots of traffic and I can park my bike right upfront. read more
