We really enjoyed our outing to Mikonos on a Friday night and were very pleased with the food. For an appetizer, we ordered a hot combo platter, which had fried zucchini, meatballs, beans, and something else I cannot remember. The fried zucchini was outstanding -- we were amazed with the bouquet of flavors in that bite. Beans were very good. Meatballs were nothing particularly special, but they were still good. The creamy tzatziki sauce was wonderful and perfectly spiced. For the main meal, my girlfriend got a gyro sandwich, and I got lamb tzatziki (kebobs). I had their gyro before, and it's very good. But lamb tzatziki was something else entirely: there were 2 skewers, lemon potatoes, and tzatziki sauce. The lamb was cooked to absolute perfection -- I'd say between medium rare and medium well, with a little pink at the center. The cut of meat was very appropriate for kebobs -- it wasn't too chewy, but it was fatty and juicy and full of flavor. I couldn't stop myself until I went through both skewers and all the lemon potatoes. Wow. I was also compelled to finish out such a fine meal with baklava for dessert. I've had baklava brought from Greece, and this one was just like that. Very rich and a very appropriate finish to a scrumptious meal. For next time, I would definitely keep an eye out for those fried zucchini and get a separate plate of those -- they were that good. Prices were decent for the amount of food and the quality of food you get. This isn't what you'd call a fine dining establishment. It has a comfy diner feel to it, and that's fine. Went last night w 3 friends. We started with a special appetizer with a grilled cheese on a bed of lettuce and sliced tomatoes. No flavor and very dry. I ordered the beef and lamb gyro. I was expecting a wrap in Greek PETA bread but got the sliced meats on top of the PETA bread with lettuce, tomatoes, and their lemon baked potatoes. The neat was just ok but the potatoes tasted terrible. One of my friends had the papoutsaki w/beschamel. The beschamel is suppose to be a cream sauce w/ a lite crust topping from the grill. This was served as a solid topping like it had been heated and re-heated to long. Also the bottom was slightly burnt. My other friend had the pastitsio platter. All noodle and very little meat. The only good from the restaurant was the friendliness of our waitress. Probably really deserves 1 star. read more

I ate here for dinner tonight and ordered their Pastichio. It tasted good but it was something that was obviously premade and reheated. When I had a few bites then got to the middle I found that it was cold. I informed my waitress and she said sorry and took the plate away. She came back 5 minutes later with my same plate that had just been microwaved again... I didn't touch it after that and when she asked if I wanted a box I told her that I had lost my appetite. I'm really disappointed, I should have been offered a different dish or a discount or something. I would not return to this restaurant. read more

I ordered a beef and lamb gyro platter to go from here. For $15, the amount of food I got was fair. I got a large amount of meat on top of pita bread cut into quarters. There was lettuce, tomato, and onion on the side along with tzatziki sauce and lemon potatoes. I finished everything but the lemon potatoes, which were pretty gross. The meat was pretty good albeit a little dry. Overall, I liked the gyro platter but it wasn't anything special and the price was only okay. read more

There's not a lot of food options in the area. My daughter lived in Pennington for awhile and therefore this place became more of an option. I ve eaten here on several occasions as well as had take-out. My sister was in town and we were looking for something other than Italian. Although my wife's last experience there she agreed to go. We started with the Pikilia Cold Spread Dinner consisting of the Taramolsalata (red caviar and potatoes finely puréed), roasted eggplant and hummus. The pita wedges were fresh. The hummus was my least favorite. The caviar and eggplant were delicious. I ordered the pork souvlaki platter which came with a Greek side salad. The salad is a nice size. The platter also came with Lemmon potatoes which I didn't really eat because of all the pita and dip that I had eaten. My wife ordered the chicken souvlaki platter. She enjoyed her meal much better than last time. My sister ordered the lamb chop platter. My sister finished the platter which consisted of 6 chops. She cleaned them down to the bone. We didn't order any dessert but since I plan on returning I ll have to save dessert for a return trip. read more

Mikonos is another place that I could only guess has a lot of friends write reviews for them. I only say this since my experience was so different from what I see listed here. The tzatziki was NOT good, the gyro meat was old and dry (doubt they have a vertical broiler) and the pita was thick, chewy and hard to cut or chew. The young man that served us was great, though he never told us his name. The other two servers just looked at there phones most of the time even though I heard one of them say that it was busier than expected. One of them even sat at the booth behind us with her head on the table as she talked on the phone. We ordered some zucchini croquets to go but we were given spaghetti and meats balls instead. read more

The building is made strange so you walking in until you get to to the register then you are seated. The service seems kind of rushed. I ordered a lamb and beef gyro which came with fries. The meat was ok...a little dry...fries are freshly cut but the tzanini is awful. Its thick and nasty and I didn't taste any cucumbers. My wife and I try to go out and eat each Friday night as a gift to each other for working hard all week. We were in Ewing on Friday night and tried this restaurant and we have never eaten Greek together that I ever remember. We loved each item that was brought out to us even though our waitress had to explain the menu to us. We enjoyed our waitress and she and other staff worked well to make us feel welcome. Built into the structure of what seems to be an old Burger King or perhaps, an Arthur Treachers exists the Mikonos Restaurant. They have done a pretty good job of Greek-a-fying the structure although my friend indicated it didn't stand out as Greek although I do not agree. The white and blue colors along with the standard columns in front of the building was enough for me. When you walk in the walls are adorned with the standard Greek seaside photos and other art so there you have it. The menu is comprehensive and filled with all the standard dishes. I love a good lamb gyro but like many places in NJ it is almost impossible to find a gyro that is just lamb. It is always beef and lamb. And at Mikonos it is no different. At least for the lunch menu. On the dinner menu you can get just lamb. And the waiter was very clear that we could order the dinner for lunch if that is what we wanted but warned it was a lot of food. So I was reserved to have the beef and lamb gyro. Very delicious and pleasing but beefy. All the ingredients were fresh and delicious: the sandwich was huge! The fries were amazingly crispy and uniquely greekly seasoned with lemon and herbs. You have a choice of fries or Greek potato and that is good. Moussaka is also on the menu and man-o-man did it look good. For me Moussaka is a first choice but for a work lunch with a 2pm meeting I didn't want to be caught in a food stooper so I will have to save that for another time. My group ordered for the table of 3 a spanakopita app. Best I have ever had. So light and crispy, 4 big triangles of wonderfulness. Also ordered a side of Tzatziki. The chicken souvlaki sandwich that my friend had looked good and he indicated it was delicious and clearly it was another huge portion. All and all the lunch experience was excellent and I would like to return again to try other items. I have to say the time to get the meal served did take long compared to other lunch places but clearly the extra time means they are preparing your dish appropriately and with much attention. That and their busty women (such as Marina Sirtris) is the reason I love Greek so much. Does anyone remember the Greek chicken and falafel guy on Market Street in Philadelphia? I don't see him any more. Very friendly service owner operated with local staff. Building looks good on the outside but is a little rough on the inside. Not in a bad way, just a little outdated - it appears clean. Although Ewing is technically a part of Trenton this place is in a very safe suburb - you could walk around at night perfectly safely - this is close to the airport. The beef and lamb gyro platter at this place is excellent and achieves the perfect fat to meat ration (50/50).Try the lemony potato but do note that I'm deducting one star because the don't have Falafel. Ordered for pickup at Mikonos for dinner this evening. My husband and I ordered Ligo Apo Ola and Chicken Souvlaki Platter. Both were big portions and came with a very fresh side salad. The Chicken Souvlaki was very tender, juicy and flavorful. The Ligo Apo Ola was a sampler platter and great choice for someone like me who has a hard time deciding what to eat. The Moussaka was my favorite in the platter... it was a combination of eggplant, potato and ground beef. The place is clean and the staff was friendly. Next time I'll stay for the meal. read more

We came here for dinner to celebrate our third wedding anniversary. A coworker of mine recommended this place to me a few months back, but being a creature of habit, I like to stick with my small, trustworthy list of restaurants that I know won't disappoint me when I'm dining out. (My husband loves Greek food, having spent a few of weeks in Greece several years ago, so I didn't need to twist his arm to come here) We started off with the hummus as an appetizer. I liked it, but it was different than the hummus I'm accustomed to from the Middle Eastern restaurants I frequent. I'm not sure that the hummus would be something I would order regularly. For the entree, I had the lamb shank cooked in a red wine tomato sauce with orzo. My husband had the liga apo ola. We traded bites back and forth. I absolutely LOVED my entree. I kept eating... and eating... and eating. I had to stop because I needed to save room for dessert. I really liked the stuffed grape leaves from his entree, as well as the lemon potatoes (SO lemony and so good!) and the pastitsio. He loved everything on his plate. For dessert, he had the baklava and I had the galagtobureko. As the name somewhat suggests, it's literally like a burrito of fried custard wrapped in phyllo dough drenched in honey. It was incredibly sweet and I probably will never order it again now that my curiosity has been satisfied. I had a bite of his baklava, which was also amazing, but I wouldn't be able to order it for myself since nuts hurt my insides. :( He also had a Greek coffee with his baklava and enjoyed that, as well. The service was decent. Our poor server first noted that my dish was lamb shank (it was listed as lamb cubes on the menu), then came back to say it was actually lamb chunks, then finally came back again to say that, jk, it was really lamb shank. The shank vs cube thing made no difference to me since bones don't scare me, but some people could be turned off by that. I pretty much had to be rolled out of the restaurant after our phenomenal, filling meal. We both had enough left over for lunch the next day. God, writing this review has made me hungry. We look forward to adding this place to our regular rotation. The meal with appetizer, two entrees, two desserts, coffee, tax, and tip came to about $70, which was about what we expected to spend for an important dinner out. I just had an amazing Greek meal here with my husband and mother in law. The amount of food matched with price and quality is great. I lived in Athens Greece for four months and can vouch that the food and service at Mikonos is on par with that in Greece! Ask for Demitris- he is awesome! We had a huge platter that included pastitsio, moussaka, dolmades, and spanikopita with two side salads and it was enough food for four people! I also had the stuffed eggplant (delicious!). All this came with lots of pita, feta and beet dips, and we had a large horyatiki (really huge)! Try it out! read more

Very good Greek food. Their gyro is what you should get if you're a basic fan of Greek food. It comes with steak fries and their portions are large. We flew into the Trenton airport on business and solicited the staff's lunch recommendation for good local non-chain food. We were not disappointed by the food or service at Mikonos. I chose the vegetarian sampler, and I only wish I'd thought to photograph my plate before devouring every delicious morsel. My co-star exercised his natural proclivity to order full-beast; I think he had everything on the menu. Yeah, Okay, the decor is a little dated, and someone needs to discover windex, but our server was sweet, friendly, and efficient, and as I said, the food was good, which makes up for the dirty windows. Our server recommended the Galaktobureko dessert, saying it was rarely served in other Greek restaurants. That must be a fact because I'd never heard of it before. It was spectacular in taste, texture, and presentation. I am, however, glad they don't post the calories in their dishes. I'll definitely go back if I'm ever in Trenton again, but if there is a next time, I'll take some Windex wipes and clean the front door. read more

Highly disappointing. I purchased a $25 groupon to try this place (supposedly a $51 value). Since I had purchased to go only on a Friday or Saturday, so we went after work on a Friday, even though there was a snow storm going on, I figured that since I lived nearby, we would go anyway. I admit that I read the groupon wrong and didn't realize that it was a Prix Fixe menu. I didn't want to eat what was on the preset menu, so requested that I get a credit for the amount I paid ($25) for the groupon toward the regular menu. (The waitress had already scanned the groupon, thereby redeeming it.) The manager refused, claiming that they didn't get that money, Groupon did. By my calculation, based on what I would have liked to have ordered, we would have spent approximately $60 on dinner that evening. $25 - groupon fee + $35 cash from me = HAPPY CUSTOMER WHO RETURNS IN THE FUTURE! Since they had already scanned the groupon, I requested that they cancel the transaction. The manager said that he would do so and to call him the next day. We left and went to another restaurant in the area (Villa Rosa) and proceeded to spend approximately $60 for dinner, (Not counting the four other times we've gone to Villa Rosa since, because we enjoyed our meal and the service so much.) On the following Monday, I called Mikonos and spoke to the manager about the cancellation of our groupon redemption. The manager told me that I was a "habitual" groupon abuser who would eat at restaurants and demand refunds. I have never requested a refund from groupon, aside from the one I purchased for his restaurant. And I DIDN'T EVEN EAT THERE! The Manager was unconscionably rude and has assured that neither I, nor any of my friends or family ever eat at Mikonos in the future. He has also ensured that I write an abominable review. And, as an added bonus, he has inadvertantly given business to his nearest (geographically) competitor. I truly hope that the owner of the restaurant reads this and realizes that the person he/she has hired to run the restaurant has alienated someone who is very loyal to great food and great service. read more

EVERYTHING I had was terrific! The zucchini cake appetizer seemed fried, but it didn't have a trace of oil - magic! - and the consistency was perfection - tender, melt in your mouth, without being soggy. Stuffed squid special was off the chart - grilled squid tube with rich but not overpowering stuffing. Ate way too much (very reasonable prices, by the way) but made room to taste the baklava a friend ordered. Now I feel like all the other baklava I've eaten was wrong!
