This caesar salad with chicken is small and sad. Not even a full chicken breast and NO parmesan cheese......really? Come on. I Wish I knew before we placed a large order with coworkers. I have no clue how much it is either, because they didn't give us a receipt, but I bet it was highway robbery. This is my first and last time ordering from here. Also, not the most pleasant experience when dealing with the people that work there. No offence, but that just doesnt make sense when you want repeat customers, which I will not be. PS.... the clam strips that a coworker of mine ordered was a mix of strips and belly's. She hates belly's even though most people do. It would be nice to get what you ordered. read more

Mikes Roast Beef is a Northshore staple and they are great at what they do! Now this isn't a 4 or 5 star restaurant, so if you're expecting as much, you will be thoroughly disappointed. But if you're in need of a quick lunch, a decent fried food craving or a late night drunken snack that hits the spot just right, Mikes far exceeds any fast food chain that you would've chosen otherwise. The Northshore is famous for its Beef 3-way sandwiches. If you're visiting and never had one before, I highly suggest you make it a top priority on the list of things to try. Its rare, warm thinly shaved roast beef, with a slice of cheese, Mayo, and BBQ sauce on a sesame bun is seriously a masterpiece. While it doesn't sound like these ingredients would be good together, I can assure you that the combo just works. Proud to say the Northshore, Massachusetts area produced someone who is on genius levels when it came to the creation of the beef 3-way sandwich in all its glory! The gooey sauce mixed with the Mayo on top of the slightly melted cheese and warm roast beef, will have you going back for more! Just make sure to grab extra napkins. Now you can't just order one from anywhere because not all beef 3-ways are created equal. #Beef3WaysLivesMatter Mikes is in the top 5 of best roast beef places on the Northshore. Along with, Bill & Bobs, both the Salem and Peabody, Ma Locations. Then you got Minos Roast Beef in Lynn. Kellys Roast Beef has gone downhill, so they no longer make the list. Sorry Kelly's Lovers. I haven't tried Mikes seafood, so I can not attest to the quality and the one and only place I eat fried seafood from is Charlie's in Lynn, Ma. But the fried foods at Mikes are all your usual menu lineup like chicken fingers, fries, onion rings, pizza rolls, broccoli bites, etc. and all is freshly made. So you really can't go wrong here and the prices are affordable where you're not breaking the bank. Enjoy! read more

I've been a customer for many years. I never go to a food establishment unless the food is very good and the service is excellent with fair prices. In this case the menu is great for lunch, quick dinner to go, and late night snack. Roast beef is always good ( 5 star roast beef sandwiches). Fries freshly cooked to order. Soda is cold. If you aren't in the mood for Roast beef sandwiches you can get a decent burger or hot dog. You can get better seafood but this is a roast beef sandwich joint. If you are craving pastrami, go to Brookline. read more

I'm from Jersey, I kept seeing loads of roast beef places, which I didn't know it was a Massachusetts staple food, so I HAD to try. Mike's was amazing! I got a junior sandwich, the guy at the counter recommended we get bbq, Mayo, and cheese on it, and he was absolutely right, the bbq is killer. Ok Mikes... You have been here FOREVER... You serve the same things as always... Staple burger late night drunk food... Which is great... Seafood is better & bigger than the other K word place close by... But why oh why Mikes do you still not take a card... I mean really, I know there is an ATM in the lobby but it charges me $3.00 to take out $$ and that bothers me... So bring cash... and if you go late night expect to be partially harrased by someone or have to listen to how everyones night went at the club... There are no tables, there is a counter that you can sorta lean on to eat but make sure to ask for extra napkins... Food is great.. Its always fresh and always delish... read more

This place has gone way down hill. Lot of new staff and kitchen help it appears. They used to have some of the best beef around at all hours of the night now in struggling to give this place a 3 stars it's actually more like 2.25! The beef was "missing" from my "large beef" sandwich which Used to be piled high and fresh rare delicious beef. This looks like it was reused beef from the day before I donno.....I won't be rushing back there anytime soon read more

Can't knock this place. Great go to joint when you're in the area, or it's late and you're with a buddy after a night out, hit or miss in the quality of the beef but usually you can get it quite rare and it's satisfying, plus, there's a pretty extensive menu, so you can grab a few things on the cheap and be filled up so you can continue in your drunken endeavors. read more

As a SoCal native, I am used to a variety of restaurants being open until 2AM. However, whenever I visit my boyfriend in Malden, I remember that most stores close at around 9 or 10PM. Fortunately, Mike's Roast Beef is there to save the day with the perfect late night bite. I know their roast beef is great, but let me talk about the scallops and clams/clam strips seafood platter. As someone who doesn't regularly have access to fast food seafood, Mike's customizable seafood platter is a blessing. Though the seafood is not rich and life-changing as offered in high-end restaurants, compared to scallops in CA, the scallops are big and juicy (plus they don't have that rubbery, overcooked texture). Similarly, the clams/clam strips are big and nicely fried; again, this is compared to what we have in CA. Furthermore, the portion size for the platters is huge (and affordable!), with your pick(s) of choice, fries, and sides, so that it can satisfy anyone's late-night cravings and more! I would say that the cashier and kitchen staff are definitely friendly and efficient, and that's really all I can ask for from a fast food restaurant. I recommend anyone looking for a late night bite to come here, and I know I'll be dragging my boyfriend here for night runs whenever I'm in Massachusetts. read more

Stopped in tonight after a long day at work. Got a 4 way seafood platter and some chili. All of the seafood was fresh and not overcooked. Delicious, plump scallops, crispy and chewy clams and strips, solid calamari. Boat load of great french fries. Chili was alright: I spiced it up a bit at home. The blonde woman at the front was delightful. I'm a bartender/server and she's legitimately more friendly and efficient than a lot of my coworkers. I'll definitely be back when I'm in the mood for more fried seafood. Thank you for making the ending of my day a good one. read more

Mike's roast beef is definitely one to try, if you haven't already! Junior beef sandwich is so fulfilling; do not let it's name fool you; my boyfriend got the Super Roast Beef... both sandwiches, regardless of size, were packed with roast beef. We requested to have the sauce on the side. We also ordered their clam chowder soup. It was perfect; it wasn't watery, it wasn't too clumpy, it was just right! It went hand in hand with the roast beef sandwich if you ask me. The employees, or rather the lady we encounter during our check out was very nice and friendly. They also take fax in orders as well, which is pretty neat. The inside does not have much sit down tables, they have counters along the perimeter of the place. Heard people raving about this place and found myself driving by it and decided to swing in to try it for myself. Didn't know what to get, so decided on a large roast beef and some onion rings. Place was deserted and not super impressive to look at. Food came out quickly. Sandwich was pretty good, rings were bland. I didn't hate the meal, but it felt similar to me to what I could get at Arby's, but Arby's is cheaper. Seems like Mike's has appeal to folks because of the nostalgia more than the food. read more

I got a classic super beef three ways. That's how you do it on the north shore! Sandwich was good. BlackBerry shake was good too. Onion rings were too greasy and didn't have a ton of flavor. Kind of disappointing. read more

Fries have zero flavor. They refuse to salt the fries! Insanity! Freezer burn is the only taste. The philly cheese rolls are sickening! Dog food in a roll! Once in a while, when I'm desperate for a roast beef sandwich, I'll go there because it's very very difficult to find a roast beef sandwich in the Boston area. read more

I've been running, walking, and cycling route 99 for 25 years and have somehow only have visited Mikes Roast Beef twice (really, twice?), at any rate, my visit today will change that. Mikes is a staple to route 99 and to the people of Everett. I got a chicken parm today and it was absolutely delicious and it only came to $7.99. This will be my go to place for value and consistently. Mikes is also a practical place to eat before venturing over to Encore, as to avoid exorbitant casino prices. read more

First let's start off with the attitude, the woman who took my order seemed pissed off that she had to take my order seeing she came over smelling like a wet ashtray and the huffing and sighing before the can I help you I was the only person in the restaurant at 9:55 pm sorry for the imposition! Now let's go to the food, the fries were undercooked and the roast beef? Come on the ratio was 2 to 1 being more bun then beef ! Oh and I asked for cheese and paid for it does anyone see any cheese in the picture? The taste? Don't even get me started! People claim this place is the best? Not even top 20 in the north shore ! This place being open at 2am saved us from having to eat McDonalds and I will forever be grateful. It was very reasonably priced with good sized portions. I love that they serve cheese dip with their fries. Everything is tastier with melted cheese on it! The roast beef sandwiches had a lot of sauce on them so it was a little messy to eat while driving, but i guess that is the passenger's responsibility, to hand feed you while driving. read more

Mike's Roast Beef is a hidden treasure. A sketchy-looking treasure that has a clientele of sullen truckers during the day and dudes from Charlestown that WILL beat the heck out of you at night, but a treasure nonetheless. And it's for one simple reason... Their roast beef is better than Kelly's. That's right, Kelly's. Mike's wins. No matter when you went - 11 a.m. on a Tuesday, 2 in the morning on a Saturday, whenever - you are going to get a consistently excellent roast beef sandwich. My weapon of choice was the Super Beef with extra cheese, onions and tartar sauce. And every element of it, from the warm onion roll to the beef itself to the zesty tartar, was amazing. That and a philly roll (an admittedly disgusting looking pureed steak and cheese stuffed into a fried roll) and I'm good for twelve hours. There are times when I get cravings for Mike's. Relentless cravings. Cravings that make me realize I'd do terrible, unspeakable things to get Mike's if I had to. Only White Castle in Jersey gives me such Hunger. And that's saying something. read more

Where do I begin. It's been a minute since my husband and I have had roast beef. Like 10 years no joke ! Tonight we landed in Boston and this was our first choice. Tasted even better then I remembered ! Also love their seasoned fries with cheese sauce ! Great service and love that You can just go in and spark up a conversation with the hilarious woman who takes your order . Also they are open super late which is a plus !! BEST roast beef around! The staff is very nice and helpful. I came there halloween night at 1am dressed up and still partially drunk. The line was out the door. Personally if I had a line of half naked/half zombified drunks I'd be miserable, however the girl was very pleasant and funny and even said my geisha costume was cute! (I'm sure she said it to everyone) but it made my night! They do not accept credit, but do have an ATM for your convenience. I personally have only gotten the roast beef so I can't say anything else for their other menu items but they also offer fried seafood, and are open fairly early to serve breakfast too. There is no seating, just a counter to lean against if you want to eat there. I personally take it to go..who knows what goes on on those counters.... read more

This review is for my love of their Lobster Roll. It's packed and it's delicious. I want to warn you, it's made with Mayo. If this is a problem, you and I can't be friends. I understand the love of butter, and hell I can't eat hot lobster without it, however; this is lobster salad people, like tuna salad, crab meat salad it's made with mayo... Finished a Celtics game, stop here after, finished a Bruins game, stop here after. Oh you just saw a show in Boston, stop here after. Did you just see the Red Sox game and leave early to beat traffic, well then go to Mikes with all that time you saved. The order taker, usually quick and can understand drunk talk. The place is well lit and has easy parking. I would give it 5 stars, but you need to give a good douching and keep up with the counter top as well for that in my opinion. read more

I'm glad we did. Waverly is tucked away on a quiet side street in Charlestown, and that's part of the charm. The dining room is small, warm, and comfortably lived in. Nothing about it feels manufactured. The decor has an old soul without feeling dated, almost like it has been there longer than it actually has. Later I learned that's intentional. The restaurant takes its name from the historic Waverly House, a grand Charlestown hotel from the 1800s, and was designed to capture the feeling of the neighborhood's historic brownstones rather than chase the latest restaurant trend. The room felt like it belonged to Charlestown. Most of the people inside looked like they could walk home after dinner. That's the kind of place I always hope to find when visiting a neighborhood, somewhere that serves the people who live there first, and everyone else second. We asked for a window table, and the staff happily accommodated us. It's a small gesture, but one that made us feel welcomed instead of processed. The burger justified the trip on its own. I added the sunny-side-up egg, but the real star was the bacon-onion jam. It pulled everything together without overpowering the beef. The burger itself was tender, the sesame brioche somehow managed to hold everything together, and I appreciated the choice of Vermont white cheddar and Grillo's pickles. Those aren't flashy ingredients, they're just the right ones. Seeing Downeast Cider on tap certainly didn't hurt either. What impressed me most wasn't that Waverly was trying to reinvent the neighborhood burger. It wasn't. It simply executed it exceptionally well, with enough confidence to let good ingredients and thoughtful choices do the talking. Charlestown wouldn't just lose a burger if Waverly disappeared. It would lose one of those neighborhood places that quietly makes a neighborhood feel like itself. Two guys came in after us, also before 3, who were also really excited for brunch. They too were shut down. We ordered off the limited menu. It was okay. It was fine. But that's not the point. If brunch ends at 2:45, then say it ends at 2:45. Don't say it ends at 3pm and then shut people down because it secretly closes earlier. I get that you guys want to switch the kitchen over and prep for dinner, but serve the food you say you're going to serve at the time you're going to serve them. Nobody came in after us and the other party that was also in before 3, so it's not like there was some never ending rush of people trying to get brunch. My breakfast was pretty basic so yes, the eggs and bacon was good. My daughter's Spanish omelet looked decent. She ate about 2 thirds of it. And a couple hashbrown rounds. Overall, the location, setting and concept of brunch all day is great. Could the plate look more exciting? Yes. Could my server been more kind? Yes. Could my server actually served my daughter and I? Yes. Could I have gotten refill on my coffee? Yes. My server did the bare minimum which I find annoying. I just feel like for a beautiful venue the service didn't match it's vibe. My server was far from bright, colorful and happy. I look forward to heading back to Boise today for a real breakfast with real portions and real potatoes. I could have saved 50 bucks and got a meal at McDonald's for the same portions and service I got today.

1030 on a Wednesday night the nastiest rudest cashier I've ever ran into and I'm almost 50 years old. It was such an inconvenience for her to take my order or my money she even suggested that I hurry up and move it along while I was handing her my money! Which I had out before she finished ringing up my order! Dark haired 30-40 something woman? I was sold a plate of clam strips w/ fries that were clearly fried in old rancid oil, I could see the black residue all over everything when I opened up the container. Now I see why this place is going out of business, GOOD RIDDANCE if this is the way that they treat paying customers.
