My man LOVES chocolate. Myself, not so much. But once in a while I will indulge in a truffle or two. In Mignon's case, 6!!! Don't know what to get? Just ask! They are super patient and will let you try samples. I was always scared to try spices with chocolate. The chili pepper ganache is pleasantly delicious. Just a hint of chili but the chocolate is so creamy that it smoothed out the flavor so good! I was literally a kid in the candy store... "I'll have 2 hazelnut truffles, 2 tiramisu truffles, 2 cappuccino truffles, 2 champagne truffles, 2 dark cocoa truffles, 4 giner wit lime sea salt, 1 cuban mojito, 1 chili pepper, 1 lavender, 1 banana ganache, 1 pistachio, 4 caramel with espresso sea salt, a roasted almod, dark chocolate ganache, 2 bourbon whiskeys, and 1 coconut. Oh and 2 liquid caramels....aaaaand I think that's it!!" And the prices are amazingly affordable. The truffles and ganaches are about $1 and the other chocolate around 80 cents each. i ended up spending about $25 with tax for all those gourmet chocolates. My man (and I) were definitely happy people. This place is awesome if you are thinking of giving it out as favors or a place card holder for weddings. They can customize anything you want. Boxes, foil wrapped chocolate, little bags in all sorts of colors. Literally she will customize your order however basic and elegant you want it to be. Good stuff - we have bought lots of assorted boxes over the years. Three stars because they only got about 2/3 of my last (valentines) box correct and didn't inform us when we picked up the box. So it was either a careless mistake or they made plenty of substitutions without notifying us. Unfortunately it was all my favorites that got axed - and they gave us like 6 champagne chocolates which we don't like. Recently ordered 150 $10 boxes of 4 dark chocolate truffles for an event. They were thank you for coming presents/takeaways and our guests loved them! I went here for a little Christmas shopping a couple of weeks ago and I now have time to express my thoughts of Mignon Chocolate. It's very expensive for what you get, and what you get isn't worth the price. It is certainly good chocolate and I appreciate that it's a smaller brand than the big corporate brands like Godiva and See's, which is why I got things from here. However, $18 for 8 chocolates is a bit steep. I tried their lavender chocolate using the yelp check in and it was overpoweringly lavender flavored - not good. Additionally, the person working there was not friendly at all and seemed to be burdened by our presence on a Saturday morning. Sigh. Not going to return to this establishment for these reasons. I used to live in Glendale and would drive past Mignon often, I always wanted to stop in but never did. When trying to find my boyfriend Valentine's Day chocolates I wanted to get him quality chocolate with some fun flavors from a local business. I ordered online for pick up in Pasadena, but I am immunocompromised and couldn't find someone to grab for me so I emailed the company to try and pay for shipping and Joe T was so kind to ship to me at no cost. I can't wait til covid is under control to take a trip to buy some in person! My boyfriend loves the chocolates- it was so beautifully wrapped. I explained that I was giving some wine and chocolates to a friend. The lady asked what kind of wine and if I knew what flavors my friend likes. I wanted it to be more of a tasting experience.. This is a much overdue review but I wanted to say that Mignon has the best chocolate and service ever!!! The chocolate is exquisite and they always have new and/or seasonal flavors. The chocolates not only taste heavenly but they're miniature works of art. In-store and online service are exceptional. At the shop in Pasadena, Sandra is always extremely kind, helpful and accommodating. I recently bought candy online for Mother's Day and Joe was SO generous in every possible way. My mom said she didn't receive the candy and Joe assured me it was delivered. My mom somehow forgot she received the candy (how could you ever forget THAT candy???). I took advantage of the $75 free shipping and got some boxes of dark chocolate of size 30 (1), and 8(3). It took about 5 days for preparation and delivery. Then I found that instead of 20 I got 15. I called them about it and they fixed the problem by promising a delivery next Tuesday. It did arrive on time so my order was complete. The Mignon chocolates taste like real, natural chocolate and not sweet like See's candy. The boxes are very appealing as gifts, with ribbons and gold colored letters. We were walking by & found this quaint lil chocolate confectionary hidden in Old Town Pasadena. We got to sample a couple different flavors & ultimately bought a few more. Flavors Blueberry cream - very blueberry-y but not too sweet with the dark chocolate. MMM Ginger sea salt - this one was so delish!! Never would have thought of that combo. Saffron Marzipan - OMG! Gotta try! Raspberry cream - loved the flavor! The prices are pretty reasonable for quality chocolate as 2 pieces were just over $2. They have cases displaying many delicate mini chocolates that were beautifully presented. They also offer custom chocolates for favors and gifts. The service was excellent! Very knowledgeable and pleasant. She even told us about the Glendale location that has a patio and cafe. Definitely try it out! read more

Ok I love almost every chocolate I have tasted from this place (ok there was one with coconut texture that I was not that fond of but hey I didn't ask and she wouldn't just KNOW I don't love coconut). With flavors like whiskey bourbon, cappuccino, caramel and sea salt, chocolate gouache, chipotle pepper, and their signature ginger, one can not be disappointed. I have had their chocolate at least 4 times now and I loved it each time. I rank them in the top contenders at the chocolate salon that I attended in Pasadena just a month ago. Their chocolates are affordable and in a nice presentation too. Locally owned and operated I sure hope to use them at my upcoming Holiday Party, in my office next week. read more

Stopped by with my husband as we were walking down Holly St. As soon as we walked into this little place, we were immediately hit with the beautiful and sweet chocolate aroma... the smell was just heavenly. However, my initial impression of this place was quickly soured and ruined after we had lack of and rude service all w/in 5 minutes of walking in. We walked up to the display case and we were ignored by the employees right behind the counter. Then these 2 older people came in and the 2 employees said hello to them and asked if they wanted to sample something. And then later on one young employee asked if we wanted anything and I said we are just looking. She rudely just said that she was here in case I have any questions. This place may have some of those la- dee- dah fancy looking chocolates with ripped off prices, but what totally kills this place for me is the crap service. For a place that sells chocolate, especially at ridiculous prices, you'd think the employees would be just a tad bit sweeter. Whatever, I'll never come back here. read more

While perusing Mignon's selection of chocolates in their shop in Old Town Pasadena, I was hopeful that I had found a new place to indulge my sweet tooth. Sadly, this shop wasn't up to snuff. I decided to buy a sampling of 5 pieces: Green Tea (dark chocolate; green tea flavored ganache) Paula (milk chocolate with pistachio filling) Ginger with sea salt and dark chocolate Espresso caramel and sea salt (milk chocolate) a piece with the highest percentage of cocoa (i can't remember name) The only intriguing piece was the Ginger with Sea Salt. It had a wonderful warmth from the ginger and delightful savoriness with the salt. A good combo. Overall, the chocolates were not worth the 4-some-odd dollars I spent. The chocolates didn't have the "snap" that great tempered chocolate should have. I felt like was I was biting into a Hershey's bar. This shouldn't be!!!! And the fillings weren't flavorful enough nor memorable. I was looking forward to this being a unique go-to chocolatier, but I'd rather go to Godiva. read more

This place is on a cute little side street with an adorably decorated entrance that's just too good to pass up. I had high hopes for this chocolatier, perhaps too high. Sadly, upon entering this small shop my friend and I confronted two middle aged women donning velour sweatsuits and over-processed blonde hair. Their frantic questions about each and every piece of chocolate led me to one conclusion... They were suffering from a condition my husband has dubbed "See's Freeze" or in technical nomenclature "Cocoaenus Catatonius". It's when otherwise normal women enter a chocolate shop and are so overcome with the sight sand smells of chocolate they are stunned into a mental stupor that renders them catatonic. This condition can manifest itself in a zombie like state characterized by blank stares and garbled speech but if you are unlucky enough to stand between them and their candy they can snap into a rage that can only be mollified once their appetite is sated by chocolate. This distraction negatively influenced my perception of the place, and at the end of the day the chocolate was not memorable. I tried a ginger/sea salt number that was ok, and their Madagascar vanilla was my pretty good, but unfortunately not "See's Freeze" inducing. read more

Stopped by the shop to pick a few pieces to test if this place is Mother's Day Chocolates worthy. 'Tis not. Picked four pieces: Dark chocolate caramel (gooey caramel), champagne truffle, coconut, and white chocolate. The chocolates were placed in a paper bag, but I did not eat them immediately, but instead saved them for the next day. Surprised to see the bag the next day because it was soaked through with oil. I've NEVER seen that happen with chocolate before, so this was a not a good impression. Dark chocolate caramel was the only piece I thought palatable, and even then, it was equivalent to eating a Caramello candy bar. Champagne truffle was nothing like you'd get at Teuscher, in fact it had a kinda banana flavor to me (weird, I know). Now I love me some coconut, I see coconut anything, and I want to scarf it down. Alas, their coconut was bottled suntan coconut, not tropical I'm in paradise coconut. And lastly the white chocolate. FAIL. UGH waxy taste, did not melt in my mouth. Proof that all good things in Pasadena are things that Zoey Van Jones tells me about. I was getting the face weave worked on and she said, "here, try this." Uh, yes please. I don't even like chocolate that much people! I left with great haste and booked it out of ZVJBS to Holly and busted in to Mignon. There was a very helpful woman (owner? wife of owner?) behind the counter who was able to advise me on how purchasing worked. Basically, there are some things that are $.78 and some things that are $.88 or something like that. You can also buy a box in 4,8, 16, 24, or 48 piece allotments. The woman was very helpful in her descriptions and recommendations and there are little signs noting which chocolates are made in house. I bought a bunch to take to a party that evening and they were well received. The flavors we got/ tried: -little dark and milk chocolate lion branded solids -dark chocolate lavender truffles with fleur de sel -milk chocolate covered hazlenuts -tiramisu truffle -cappuccino truffle -NSA milk and dark chocolate squares All amazing. All fresh. None of them gross or plastic. The most wonderful chocolate I've had. Basically, for all of you eating your Godiva with your pinky up; put down the wax and get over to Mignon! read more

I really liked the girl who was working here when my friend and I went in; she really knew her stuff, and was friendly and cool. The shop itself is really nice, too, and the displays of chocolates are impressive. But tasting the chocolate... I guess that since the shop is so fancy, I was expecting something mind-blowing, but it was just good chocolate. The fillings and flavors weren't quite as great as the actual chocolate itself. I tried a few different pieces (the best one I had was a dark chocolate sea salt caramel, the others were "eh"). I might consider giving these to someone as a gift, because they're so well-crafted they look like something you'd want to give someone as a gift, not something you'd just stuff in your own face while you're sitting on your couch watching reruns of the Cosby Show or something. read more

I bought Mignon Chocolate over the phone as a gift for delivery, and I spoke to Anoush to coordinate the delivery. I can't thank her enough for all the personal attention and above-and-beyond service to make the delivery special, ESPECIALLY after the recipient of the gift left for to do errands when she said she'd be home! SMH. I specifically asked Anoush to have the staff deliver the box between 9:30am and 11am, and I received a phone call from Anoush herself at 11am, saying she was at the front gate and couldn't get in because the recipient wasn't home, and she wasn't picking up Anoush's phone call! (Didn't recognize the number) MIgnon Pasadena was suuuuuper busy with deliveries and sales on Valentine's Day, but they went out of their way to attempt delivery AGAIN - this time in a smaller window of time... and they made it happen! You can find a vast selection of gourmet chocolate here. Most of the chocolates are dark chocolate, but there are a few milk chocolate ones too. The lady who worked here was extremely welcoming and she gave me a sample of their best selling chocolate -- ginger sea salt! The sample given was a very small piece, but it was very very rich and had a pungent ginger taste. There were a lot of pretty boxes in different sizes. I asked the nice lady if she could prepare a random assortment for me, and she knew exactly which flavors to put in the box. She added a nice mixture of chocolate ganache, chocolates with fruit, regular chocolate, and truffles. She put it in a small box with a description of all the chocolates and added a bow in the back. BAM... the gift was complete! I would definitely come here again! CC also accepted! There's also a REALLY cute stationary store (Lula Mae) next door! Not sure how I've managed to miss this place for so long! I was walking to Violet's Cakes which is across the street and equally yummy when I saw the sign. I didn't plan on stopping in but as I walked by and saw all the chocolate laid out and how cute everything looked, I couldn't pass it up. The sales girl was friendly and let us sample some chocolate since BF and I had never been there before. We ended up getting 6 different pieces. Not even sure which ones we got since I chose whatever jumped out at me. But they were oh-so-good. Never again will I buy boxed chocolate from the grocery/drug stores. My skin will hate me for this and I will wake up tomorrow with a pimple for each piece I ate. Worth it!! Spent about $5.50 for the 6 pieces. After reading Austin's reviews...I def wanted to check it out! It is also conveniently located around the corner from my FAVORITE shop ever, Lula Mae....and also from my former place of employment. The ill fated McMurphy's, now dubbed Dullahan's. Don't go there!! I walked into a warm, seemingly friendly atmosphere with a huge selection of chocolates that are not commonly found. Ie. NOT See's. They also have on display...about a MILLION boxes of ALL shapes, themes, sizes, and prices. The women who helped me, although had a sneer....was pretty helpful. She gave me a pomegranate chocolate that blew my mind....I picked out a box that had about 10 chocolates...and picked one of EVERYTHING...from truffles...to blueberry, champagne, almond, mango, lemon, chili, and Cuban Mojito. She tied a very exquisite bow..and I was on my way. It always freaks me out when I am the ONLY customer in a store, especially such a small store...and this situation totally reminded me why. You feel SOOO much pressure to "perform" and buy something...and not look stupid...especially since I was a first time customer..I'm definitely taking a friend in next time to take the edge off!! read more

My first and probably the last time at this store/business based upon my first time experience yesterday. Prices are high, chocolates are OK and nothing to die for. I would rather go to See's candies. I pass this place twice daily during weekdays because I work just across the street. Yesterday, after reading good reviews online and noting favorites flavors from the other reviewers, I decided to try them on my way back. I went to the store and there was this small blackboard with some greetings on sat right in front of the door with very little space to pass and enter inside. Not sure why was it sat like that knowing the fact that the entrance is already very small. Also, the listing on the blackboard was very cramped up so one can hardly read and pay attention. It definitely needs to be removed, written clearly, and place on a proper space so that enough area will be available to enter the store comfortably. There was no one inside and I was greeted promptly by one of the owner I think, Anoush. I was offered small piece of sample without me asking for it. Right away I noticed that there was no price listing anywhere in the store so I asked the lady to explain. She went on saying and if I understood correctly that average piece price is $.90 and if I need a gift box it goes by pound. Also that truffles are about $1. She was little fast in terms of explaining so I did not understand fully and clearly. Anyways, I told her what I need since I had flavors noted already and she completed my order. They didn't have Saffron Marzipan though as they ran out because of Christmas I was told. At the end, I also bought 2 more based upon her recommendation. This is what I got; -- 2 Ginger with Sea Salt - An OK chocolate that has a unique Ginger taste. -- 1 Lavender - Did not like it much. Just any other dark chocolate kind with little taste of Lavender. -- 1 Chili Pepper - Did not like it much. During order completion, I noticed that lady took 3-4 pieces aside and put them on the weight scale! I got confused on why its like that if I am buying by pieces and not a gift box! I immediately asked if they are sold by weight only to which she responded Yes. I remained confused since not enough details were provided. Now here comes the register part. After manually doing some calculations, I was told $10.40. WoW! Just 10 pieces and $10.40! Also why $10.40 if most of my items were from less than $1 showcase! Anyways, I told to myself that I will check it on the receipt since it will be itemized. I looked at the receipt and to my surprise it was not itemized! Only totals were given separately for Truffle, weight scale, and by pieces items. Now, how do I know which pieces are charge what and if I am being charged correctly? Also, I am pretty sure that the weight scale price was $2.60 when I looked but was charged $3.60! The price for Truffle was listed as $1.20 and I bought only one! This is very expensive. Compare to the price, the pieces are very small and light weight. Not sure why some of the reviewers are saying that it is reasonable and very cheap! Absolutely wrong! They also need to update their website where consumer can buy piece by piece regardless of the size. Right now the only option is to buy a custom 30 piece box for $40! So, again prices are not clearly defined and receipt is not itemized. Not sure what the individual prices are and if the total amount is correctly charge. The information tag in the showcase is way to small and one can hardly read let alone finding and reading the prices. Chocolates are OK.
