On Saturday I was surprised to see an opossum heading for a corner of our dining room. After closing all possible escape routes, I initially thought I could lure the critter through the kitchen to the back door with snacks of canned tuna. But hours later, having abandoned the kitchen to provide a quiet space for exiting, I found her/him napping behind the linen cabinet. Faced with the prospect of exile from the kitchen, we called Mighty Men. Maria and Seana were in the neighborhood and arrived quickly. They were friendly, personal and professional. Eschewing the trap, Seana caught the little guy with her gloved hand and gently dropped her/him into the cage. I am so glad I called, because the opossum was only 8 weeks old, unable to care for itself or even to leave its hidey-hole. We said goodbye to all three of them, with baby Opossum on her/his way to a wildlife rescue place. We wholeheartedly recommend this team! read more

Shop around! Don't get snookered! I was looking for someone to clean up -- preferably with a vacuum -- the remains of a raccoon latrine that I had largely removed from my roof. Mighty Men gave a quote of a minimum of $400, and doesn't offer vacuuming. Meanwhile, Norcal Wildlife Removal did the job the day after I called -- vacuuming and all --for $375, which included a travel surcharge of $75 from San Jose to my home in Oakland. Contrast that with a quote of $800 from All N One Pest Eliminators (and the quote came almost a week after I requested it). Try Norcal Wildlife Removal instead, or Dan the Bug Man for non-raccoon issues. read more

Under house secure. 10 months later new company came to advise on rat prevention (have them outside) and found the dead skunk! There WAS a dead skunk. Paid second company to remove. We had the absolute worst experience with mighty men. They are not ethical humane trappers as they claim to be. Their version of "ethical trapping" consisted of leaving an old cage out back in the hot sun with some Fruit Loops and rubber gloves -- along with bizarre and complicated instructions for how to do *everything on our own.* Nothing humane about this and not what we signed up for, and not what they advertise. we were told that we needed to call them before 7AM if we wanted them to remove a trapped animal, otherwise there was a significant fee. You also get charged a ridiculous fee if the poor animal perishes in the cage because they fail to arrive in time; and you also get charged a massive fee if a cat gets trapped in the cage instead of the raccoon, skunk, or whatever it is you're trying to catch. It is one big game of hidden fees and Do It Yourself BS. The woman on the phone was incredibly nasty, condescending and disparaging even though our questions were basic and simple. Other people have had similar experiences (check the other one star reviews). This business has been reported to the Better Business Bureau multiple times. Not sure what's going on here, but major red flags all the way. Never ever use mighty men. P.S. In response to this review, the owner threatened us. (I didn't know that was permitted on Yelp.) Mighty Men responded quickly, sealed off all access points and returned several times to make sure the problem was eliminated. They're worked as a team, and we're always professional and on time. In the past two weeks, Mighty Men Pest Control has helped me to trap and remove two skunks which had moved in under my house. Their services are amazingly affordable, about $150 to drop off the humane trap, and $165 to pick it up with a live animal inside it. Their method and their advice is sound. My first contact was with Shauna on the phone. She was very clear and friendly, and quickly explained their methods and prices. I booked a trap to be dropped off within a day and a half, and it was dropped off in a timely and polite manner. The service person explained clearly how to set the trap, and the fact that they were not going to be able to pick the trap up over the holiday weekend, so one must avoid setting it when they are not open the next day (Sunday is normally their only day off.) Apparently they ARE still able to come out on a Sunday (if you forget and keep the trap open and catch something), however the rates are much higher, because they have to call someone in from home. By law, trapping services are required to kill animals that are trapped. Apparently this is because of the danger of possibly spreading rabies, if animals are introduced to new areas. I was initially hesitant to engage this company, because someone had written a horrible review on Yelp previously. However, my experiences were nothing but GREAT, through my six different interactions with their staff in the last two weeks. My experience with Mighty Men has been mixed at best. What started off as a good working relationship came crashing down when I was lectured about calling in late for a animal pickup. Just to give a bit of context but they expect you to call before 9 am for animal pickup. While I understand that its our responsibility (both as a client and as a responsible adult) to check the traps at 8 am, things do happen sometimes that might prevent that. It's no excuse for me to call in late and I apologized as such, but to take it a step further and be lectured about it? That was a line that was unnecessarily crossed. To make matters worse, I was essentially accused of animal cruelty. "Don't you know the only ones that suffer are the raccoons?" I'm sorry lady but if I didn't care about the animals, I wouldn't be calling you to trap and properly relocate them. Aside from my one time experience with the rude operator on the phone, the rest of the team has been stellar. Both Joe and James have been professional in every regard. Their other operator, Tina, has also been a pleasure to work with. So hats off to them. But sometimes great things can be brought down by one bad thing and that is the case here. I hope to revisit this review someday and update it with some more positive ratings but until that "problem" is resolved, that would unfortunately be unlikely. In conclusion, Mighty Men do perform their duties, in a quick and prompt manner. But if you get someone like Maria on the phone, maybe hang up and call back again later... or better yet... call someone else. read more

We had Mighty Men come out because we had a family of opossums move into our garage. The opossum problem turned into a huge rat problem "hundreds" under my house that were attracting the opossums- they said we needed to rip out all the insulation under the house, major work to the tune of 11.5k - they even charge for the PPE the techs have to wear? Got a second opinion- any rat activity under our house is years old- before we lived here- no current issue. Not a rat to be found under our house- feeling super violated - Please do not trust this company- so glad I decided to get two more opinions. I'd give zero stars if I could read more

I would suggest that potential customers perform due diligence and get 3 bids for the work needed to be done. You might be very happy and surprised at what you find. This market is pretty robust right now and some companies appear to be charging quite a bit more than others. Also, remember that pressure tactics in sales is a non-starter. In the end, as other reviewers have stated, things started out well with MM, and then got very high cost wise when compared to other companies. read more

The technicians Corry and Meca were pleasant, friendly and easy to get along with . Corry is the one the knows everything you there is to know about rodent control, and mine were rats in the garage to be exact. Sealing of all outlets leading to and from the garage was done with all the interior as well as the exterior were completed. Deeply unhappy with this company. We contacted them about rodents (turned out to be rats) in the attic. Someone came out, laid traps, wired up potential points of entry etc. Other people came back and checked the traps a few times, caught one rat. They stopped coming but the rats did not. It took us months to contact them to let them know (granted, we should have contacted them earlier to let them know) and they sent someone new to take a look. The new person was MUCH MORE COMPETENT than the first person; found a place of entry that the first person missed and closed it up. However, it must not be the only point of entry because WE STILL HAVE RATS. When I called back a few days later to let them know, they said that they would have to charge to send someone out but would not tell me how much. They referred to the most recent visit as a 'courtesy' which I don't understand; you did not fix the problem so it's not a courtesy; it's completing the job we have already paid for. They have not called me back to follow up even though I asked them to please speak to the owner. So. We still have rats and this company did not finish the job they were hired and paid to do. We've been dealing with a skunk infestation underneath our backyard shed. After calling Mighty Men, the problem has been resolved. For several days running they set humane traps, came promptly to remove the skunk, and reset a trap for the next member of nest. They are prompt, efficient, and have given us peace of mind. The critters are not euthanized but turned over to a wildlife release organization. If you're facing an animal infestation like this, I highly recommend this company. read more

Do not hire this company. The office manager Maria lied to me, tried to charge us 3x what another company would, and tried to pressure me into a contract before they completed a full inspection or had a full bid. She has also been very rude. I have reported them to BBB. We had an inspection with Mighty Men in which they did not inspect the crawl space under the foundation because they did not want to move a piece of plywood blocking the entrance. When Maria called to discuss the inspection she said in an admonishing tone "Our inspector looked behind the heater in one unit and saw a hole in the drywall, but your husband REFUSED to have that repaired, so we won't include that in the scope of work, but we just have to document that we reported that and the homeowner refused to repair it. So you may want to ask your husband why he's not going to repair that item which needs to be fixed." I did ask my husband and he let me know that their repairmen won't do work around gas appliances. When I called back Maria confirmed "Oh yes, we never do repairs around gas appliances." She also tried to pressure me to move forward on a project that would cost $6000-$10,000 before I had seen a full scope of work or a bid. The contract was for pest services on the interior and exterior of the building, included the crawl space. The bid included labor for work done inside the building, but the contract would have had me agree for work (and pay for work) inside, outside, and in the crawl space, and pay for materials which were not in the bid. Maria told me on the phone the total would be between $6k and $10k. She pressured me to sign quickly saying "We're scheduling people for January 25-30th, but if you sign and schedule now we'll have someone start January 16th." I said I wanted to see a complete bid before singing, which would require them to return and inspect the crawl space, and she snapped at me "Why would you NOT hire us to do these repairs?" and "Why would we do more inspection work if you aren't going to hire us for the repairs?" We later hired a different company who did all work for $3500, which included interior, exterior, crawl space and materials. Clearly she wanted to pressure me into an unfair contract. After telling me that her inspector couldn't access the crawl space because of the floorboard (something our next pest control company had no problem with), and couldn't remove heaters to inspect or repair behind them, I told her I would ask my handyman to be present for a future inspection to help out with gas appliances. She seemed to think my goal was to have my handyman actually do the repairs in their bid, and she refused to have the inspection move forward if my handyman were present. I tried to explain that the handyman would be the best person to move and replace floorboards, and she said "If you have this handyman and he's sooooo great, maybe he should be the one fixing the mouse problem?" The conversation became so tense and unprofessional that I told her we could not use their company. She then called my phone repeatedly and I did not answer. I called the office receptionist to say we could not use their company. You will notice on google maps and yelp reviews that Maria often replies to the negative reviews with some insult or retort. Her inability to treat people with respect is on display in these review replies. I encourage you to take note of that and find a different company. It is now March, months after their initial inspection. I have learned from my tenants that their technicians came to the building to "check traps". We never signed a contract with them! We told the receptionist and the office manager "We cannot work with your company". I have found that they are charging my card with a monthly service fee, which I am handling with my bank's fraud department. read more

I called yesterday to discuss our rodent issue. I spoke to Kelly, who was pleasant and very helpful, She set me up for an appointment today! Other companies were looking at next week :-( ...the appointment was set between 12-2 and Dennis arrived early at 1130. That is great! He was polite and very knowledgeable. He made an assessment and shared his observations and helped me make a plan to rid my home of these uninvited guests. He set a few traps, showed me what rodent poop looks like so I can see where they have been. I learned a lot and was very appreciative of Dennis's kind demeaner at my silly questions. The quote was for trap check and exclusion( covering up holes the critters could use to get in my home) was reasonable. I was afraid of some of the quotes I saw others were charging...but they was very reasonable! I will up date my review over the next two weeks...so far I am more than happy! DO NOT USE MIGHTY MEN for MICE! FIND ANOTHER SERVICE. Since February of 2021, we have spent more than $5,000 to "treat" a mouse problem that from their account, originated in our garage. After taking our money and "plugging" up holes (evidently poorly -- today I saw a metal screen in the garage that was flapping open?) and problem areas throughout the house, we noticed the mouse presence (as evidenced by droppings and the occasional sighting), subsided. Months later, when we called to say "we still have mouse activity," Mighty Men came back for additional assessments, but refused to come back and give us a quote for the *whole house* (which, we were under the impression, was treated the first time). Instead, they wanted more money to treat "areas" of the house but would not guarantee the results for the *whole* house. We basically said, "we will pay whatever we need to so long as you can guarantee the quality of your work and *eliminate* the mouse problem indefinitely." Radio silence. They do not stand by their work. The technicians were nice and basically knowledgeable/professional however we *still have a mouse problem* after $5,000 of work. I'm not in the habit of leaving bad reviews. Not sure I ever have before, but I feel the need based on my experience with Mighty Men. I called about removing a skunk that was in a cage that one of my neighbors put out in a shared area. We had problems in earlier months with a family of skunks coming into our yards and spraying pets multiple times. It was a Sunday. Neither of my two neighbors who daily monitor the cages were home, so I called a couple places and talked to Maria at Mighty Men. As I started to tell her the situation, she interrupted and started yelling at me about proper ways to trap animals and threatened to call authorities and told me to think about the animal. She went on and on and didn't listen to me at all. I told her I was calling because I WAS thinking about the animal. It was a rainy day. I tried to explain that I wasn't monitoring the cages, my neighbors were, but I was merely trying to help. I told her I didn't call to get scolded and that we wanted the same thing here. When she didn't stop, I hung up on her to call other companies. She called me back, angry because I'd hung up on her. Because I couldn't get ahold of anyone else on a Sunday and didn't want the animal stuck in a cage in the pouring rain, I used their services. $300 for the removal of one skunk (my neighbor uses a company that charge $115). Maria did finally apologize saying, "I shouldn't have gone off on you." I appreciated that. But after all that, no one came out to retrieve the poor creature until some five, nearly six hour later. I had to go out so my neighbor received the fellow. No problems there. Then the next day, I received an email: The Billing Department has left a voicemail and has sent over a payment for to be filled out to collect payment owed for services rendered yesterday Sunday 9/18/22. No "thank you for using our business" or "we hope you were satisfied." No niceties. And I was confused because they asked for my credit card information BEFORE the services were rendered. That is a minor complaint, however, compared to how I was treated when I first called. It was a terrible experience that left me shaking and angry. The problem I experienced was NOT with the guys doing the work. It was with this one woman in the office. I would never use them again. read more

This company is overpriced and unprofessional. I paid $399 for one month of service. They put large mental traps exposed in my yard. I was told to purchase plastic covers for them as they don't provide that. After one month the traps were removed (they did catch three moles- I should happy for that the owner said) and I was told there was no guarantee within a certain period of time but if I wanted to go on a monthly service plan, they would come back and reinstall the metal traps. read more

I The office receptionist was very helpful but after agreeing to have a technician come out and inspect my home for racoon removal I was asked to pay 99.00 for an inspection and evaluation of the work that needed to be done to secure the home and remove the animals getting in the crawlspace attic and walls of the house. I left the technician to do the job while my boyfriend stayed with the technician until he was done. I kept calling to see if he had completed the inspection and after 4 plus hours, I came home to find that there was no written estimate on work to be done but that the technician had spent 5hours trying to catch the racoon and eventually shot it with a gun. The racoon escaped into a wall space and with babies was left there to die. I was told the bill would be almost $800 and not given any forewarning that I was being charged for chasing and trying to kill a family of racoons. No other services were done. They are unethical and worse than that,instead of working with me to resolve the mess that was made, threatened me. After I have been trying to speak to the owner regarding this mess for 5 days now only to be threatened by Maria, the manager or maybe the owner(she wont say) because I have not paid the bill yet.I now have to hire and pay another company to clean up the mess that was left. I would not trust this company and hate to write such a negative review but want to prevent others from having this bad of an experience. It started with a mouse in my garage. We noticed some evidence of them in there and started to hear them under the house. I asked them to come give an estimate and they saw evidence of activity in my attic. The first company I had do an estimate didn't even inspect the attic. The showed me pics and there was a full infestation of rats in there. Within 48 hours they had a full crew dressed as a team and the trucks and equipment they used was spotless and well maintained. They spent 2 full days cleaning and preventing these nasty creatures and the crew was super cool to talk to. I am happy to recommend this company with 5 stars!!!!! read more

Mighty Men Wildlife Trapping charged $300 for spraying synthetic male raccoon urine in my vent to the attic, to deter the mother raccoon and her kits. I was told that the mother raccoon would smell the scent of the male urine and leave my attic within 24 hours, due to the fact that male raccoons are known to eat the babies. This did nothing to deter the mother raccoon. I had to call another company who set up a one way trap and sealed up all the areas where the mother could reenter. This was a waste of time and money. Mighty men came to my rescue after I woke up from a sound sleep to see a rat ran across my kitchen floor! They came the very next day to investigate the problem and found the holes where the rats were getting into my basement and my house. That was a Monday. Bright and early on Wednesday morning, 2 mighty men showed up and spent the next week 9 hours filling holes, cleaning, sterilizing, setting traps - I was impressed, amazed and exhausted watching them! And most of all, i was thankful because I could see that they were true professionals who knew what they were doing and knew what needed to be done to get the job done! The person I spoke to on the phone failed to give me sufficient information about when they would remove rats from traps. I assumed when I made an appointment for them to trap rats and gave her my credit card that the company would set traps and check them periodically. I was wrong. When I called to ask about removing a tripod rat, the person answering the phone offered two solutions: accept the appointment time she offered or terminate the agreement. With a rat trapped in their cage in my tenant's apartment, I felt trapped. I suggest the company hire a more helpful person to answer their telephone. read more

At 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 28, 2022, a squirrel fell down the vent from the roof into the vent cabinet above my stove. Previous to this, Western Exterminator had put squirrel traps in the attic and was checking them every day. On Friday morning they removed the traps and said sorry they couldn't catch anything. When I called them Friday night and told them I had a live squirrel in my kitchen cabinet, they said because of the late hour no one could take care of it right then, but someone would come on Saturday. No one came on Saturday. When I called on Saturday, they said they didn't have a record of my call from Friday, their system is down, and to call back on Monday. On Monday they didn't have a record of Friday or Saturday's call. They would look into it and call me back. They have not called me back to this day. After dealing with them for a week, they acted like they had never heard of me, so I gave up and contacted Mighty Men Wildlife. They were very understanding of my situation -- so much so they pulled one of their employees off of a site to deal with my squirrel. Mecca arrived and, within 20 minutes, had the squirrel in a cage. She bravely reached in the cabinet and captured the squirrel even after it bit her. Good thing she had tough gloves on! My biggest problem with Mighty Men is their name. After all the men that dealt with my squirrel problem during that seven-day ordeal, a woman finally came to the rescue and saved the day. I would highly recommend this company for your wildlife issues. read more

Oh my gosh - a definite 5-star rating! If I could leave 10, I would. They performed a live bat removal from my home and from the moment I called at 6:30 in the morning to the the time service was performed, the responsiveness, professionalism, and courtesy far exceeded many. The intake manager was on top of everything, understanding and knowledgeable of what needed to be done. The trapper was just as awesome and skillful. I described where I last saw it, and she very patiently proceeded inside. Within 30 minutes, she successfully returned. I'm very very satisfied and they were instrumental in calming the nerves :-). I called approximately 4 or 5 other companies, but Mighty Men's responsiveness was amazing. The job was done before 2 of the companies even returned my call. Kudos to them. This is the most unethical company I have ever worked with. I called because I saw 6-7 live rodents in the house. They told us they would remove rodents - then arrived and upon seeing the rodents told us that it is against the law to trap rodents. The initial tech just came and put down glue traps and some baited snap traps - the tech refused to remove any live rodents and also told us we would have to pay extra for a separate team to use any rodenticide of any kind. He told us to get rid of all food in the house -as we did this, we encountered more rodents. Called back and got the same answer (it's against the law for us to trap rodents) (Why is the company called mighty men wildlife trapping if they are not allowed to trap?). Inspector came out the next day and was extremely unprofessional; I had to point out all the holes to him myself. I asked when the estimate would be done; he responded that it would be done in the next 10 minutes. I asked for a business card so I could call to follow up and he refused. The owner Maria called me to follow up and was EXTREMELY unprofessional. She stated that she would send info to my landlord regarding the inspection (again the timeline was "10 minutes" - which in itself is kind of suspect). Four days later, my landlord still had not received anything from them. When he called, the answers were "I'm not in front of my computer." She also lied and told me that my landlord asked them not to communicate with me at all - in fact because he was out of town he had asked that they DO communicate with me because he did not have good cell service. These people are liars and will do anything to make a quick buck. This is the scam - (ie - come out, put down a few traps and make $99 for "removal" that was no removal at all)- and then when it times to doing any actual work, delay, lie and make up excuses while they get away with your money. I'm sure this owner, Maria will respond to this with more denial and unprofessional and ridiculous explanations - but the point is that they were unhelpful, unprofessional, threatening and did absolutely nothing to solve the problem. I used Mighty Men twice, and had two different experiences. The first time I would have given them a 5. The second time, less than a zero. First time they were professional and knowledgeable and caught 2 gophers over the course of 1-2 months, although it was expensive ($399). I then had my garden redone. Shortly thereafter the gophers appeared. I contracted with them again, and it was a disaster. They charged me another $299 and didn't bother to tell me to turn off the irrigation system, which was causing the tunnels to collapse, until the service was almost done, and when I called them on it they were incredibly defensive and tried to say that I had received written instructions about this (I hadn't). I made the mistake of paying them another $99 to extend the service - they sent different people out each time - who didn't coordinate w/me to see if I could meet - who didn't seem to know what had happened before. Should have cut my losses. Would NOT recommend using them. read more

After speaking with a number of pest control companies Mighty Men stood out as the most down to earth and honest company I encountered. They didn't use any scaremongering tactics that I received from other companies and didn't try to up sell me on insulation, rat slabs etc. They simply identified the issue and rectified it with a great attitude. I met a number of people in this company who carried out various parts of the service and each one I met was a pleasure to work with and had the same frank and straight up approach. Corey really stands out as a great example of the service from Mighty Men. He was dedicated to solving the pest issue I had, was thorough, efficient and educated me on the pest so I knew what to look for in the future. I can't recommend this company enough. read more

Excellent customer service. Unlike other firms that NEVER called back, Mighty Men returned my call the same day, and set the wildlife trap the very next day. They promptly showed up when the trap needed to be picked up. Thumbs up all around! read more

Lots of up charges, days off and other poor policies not originally explained to me in the first call when I agreed to book them. Including PPE charges, which are strange to pass on to the customer because it's the cost of doing business in the pandemic. You have limited time to trap the animal and have to trap it during the day, which might be challenging for nocturnal only animals Relatively poor customer service. Although they provided bait, it didn't work at first and I was ended up catching it with my own improvised bait. I did catch the animal and they promptly picked it up, so as much as this review has complaints I'm happy they provided the service. Not sure if it's "allowed" based on their complex policy, but in the future I'd provide my own cage and bait and call them for pickup. Understand that the original quoted price is likely not what you'll pay. I would have been happier with a higher fixed price. read more
