Overall, the food is good and its close to my place, so I'll return. After my visit, I heard the fried porkchops are legit, so that'll be my order upon my next visit. The decor is fun. We had a horrible experience with this place. It started out as I ordered through Uber eats and the driver delivered our food to the wrong place (no fault of the restaurant). We decided to duplicate the order and go pick it up ourselves. My husband was just off work after working 12 hours and was excited for his food. He ordered Chicken with a side of coleslaw and French fries. When we got home, the French fries were missing. My husband was very disappointed as that was what he was looking forward to. He said the chicken also tasted dry and not very flavorful. My daughter ordered a baked potato with chicken....the chicken was very dry. Meh... I had the sliced brisket sandwich and fries. I didn't care for the brisket, it was tough and didn't have a very good flavor. The fries were hot and they did give us a lot of them. However they are just like the ones you get from the grocery store, nothing special. I also tried the baked potato, it was kind of hard and was topped with the same lackluster brisket. The ice tea was the Gold Peak brand. Meh The restaurant was clean and there was plenty of parking. The employees were friendly to the customers, however two of them were arguing with each other for most of the time we were there. Don't think I will be coming back to midway. read more

This is one of my favorite BBQ places. Their sausage is amazing! I usually have the sliced brisket is also good. I would only give their sides a 4 star. They have live music on the weekends and a nice family atmosphere. Gotta love the animals on the wall. The folks at Midway also do large catering orders and take home. DO NOT EAT HERE! I may be a bbq snob, but this place is totally not worth it. The ribs were dry and had zero seasoning. The bark, if you want to call it that, was from the ribs being over cooked. No seasoning, no salt, no pepper. The brisket was also bland and didn't have any bark to speak of. Sausage was okay. Sides were also terrible. The bbq beans were just canned beans with bbq sauce mixed in. Green beans were mixed with butter water, and the cole slaw was dry. THE only reason I even consider giving this place 2 stars over 1 is because the restaurant is clean and well kept. Can't wait until Cooper's opens up this summer! Starting off the staff is so friendly as soon as I stepped foot in the door I was greeted. The restaurant is much bigger on the inside than it looks on the outside. Has a very friendly atmosphere with country cabin vibes. Now to the good part or should I say great part. We ordered the three meat plate with brisket, sausage and ribs and the brisket plate. Each came with two sides which we got potato salad, beans and coleslaw. We got the order Togo. There were some downsides one was the size of the side portions in the Togo order. The cups were very small that they put the sides in wished they had been a little bigger especially for the price when paying for BBQ. The price was not too expensive but for the portion of sides I expected a little more. The other downside was the coleslaw. The coleslaw tasted more like vinegar that actually coleslaw kinda disappointed as I love me some slaw. Last downside was they put all the fixings like the pickles, onions and jalapeños all in one little cup. This was terrible especially for me since I'm allergic to onions but I love pickles. So needless to say I did not get to enjoy any of the side fixings because they were placed all together. This should be something they take into consideration. Other than the small mishaps the food is really good meat is very tender. I will definitely go back but this time I will dine in and ask for all of my side fixings to be separated for allergy reasons. read more

Stopped in on our way home from Galveston to San Antonio. Kevin took our order & as we hadn't quite decided what we wanted, he made some recommendations that turned out perfectly. We all ordered moist brisket sandwiches and a different side. Fries, potatoe salad, mac n cheese & okra were all good (okra was my favorite) . They give you a healthy serving on each sandwich which you can top off with onions, pickles & Bar b que sauce. Although we were completly full, we couldn't say no to some peach cobbler (which we all shared). Friendly staff. Visited Midway today for lunch. The restaurant was clean and practiced social distancing. The drink stations were blocked off so only employees could serve. Employee was wearing a mask but not gloves. I had a hamburger and sweet potato fries. The meat patty was a generous portion but tasteless and overcooked. The lettuce and tomato were fresh and delicious though. The sweet potatoes fries were unfortunately forgotten in the grease and should have never been served to a customer. I will say, some of the few noticeable places in Katy, TX are its cute little historic downtown, the No Label Brewing Co. facilities (in a former rice mill that feature a weekend maker market), Willy Burger and Midway Bar-B-Que. There was a fire here a few years back but it has since recently reopened. I am writing this review based on my few experiences there prior to COVID and the fire. The taxidermy is macabre at best, but the space was basically a giant steel building on the former Highway 90 and adjacent the to the former rail line that served this former whistle stop town that has become a huge Houston suburb. With all of that being said, it's great. I realize I will get slack for this comment because Katy is full of great barbecue. But this place just clearly has never changed. It's like stepping back in time when Katy was just a small whistle stop rail town full of rice farmers on the Katy prairie. The traditional Texas bbq menu is pretty much the same as everywhere else but it is, I think, the bizarre taxidermy ambiance of dead animals staring you squarely in the eye that makes this place interesting. The food must be good if you are willing to eat it amidst country music playing on the sound system and dead animals giving you a guilt trip as you get your inner carnivore on. Yes, please. I know it sounds strange, but the authenticity of the food and setting is immensely satisfying. read more

The ribs and brisket are moist and tender, the baked beans are surprisingly good, the Mac and cheese is bland and "kraft Mac n cheese-ish". Wow! This is easily my favorite BBQ place in Katy, if not in Texas! Love that everything here is local, and that they carefully smoke everything on site. All their food is delicious (their brisket is especially amazing!) and reasonably priced. Beware of the large portions though! You will definitely be having leftovers afterwards. We looked up the best barbecue in Katy Texas in midway barbecue came up. We stop by at their temporary location Clean looked organised with a competent staff attended. My wife ordered the barbecue chicken With coleslaw As a side I ordered the slice brisket barbecue beans and potato salad. For drinks I had Ice T and the wife had diet soda. Within 6 minutes they brought our order to our table in small Take out boxes. My wife's side of coleslaw was 2 tablespoons in a plastic container Which she had To Send back as it tasted Awful. My beans were OK lukewarm, Potato salad was reasonable not as good is Rudy's or Papas barbecue. Her chicken was cooked but not tender lukewarm with not a lot of flavour. Pleasantly surprised by Midway BBQ. I was in town, for a wedding, and the bride wanted everyone to meet here the night before. She was raving about the food, but more about the decorations. There are plenty of different animals mounted around the restaurant. It's fairly large, lots of seating available for smaller to bigger parties. We were there on a Saturday night, and there was live music. The musician playing was from Nashville. He took requests and also played a song for the little ones, and invited them up to dance. There is plenty of room to dance, and saw multiple couples dancing to his music, including our bride and groom. Almost everyone in the dinner party ordered the chicken fried rib eye. It was REALLY good, and really well priced, it comes with 2 sides. My husband and I split the ribeye, as well as the catfish plate. The catfish was probably the freshest I have ever had. Delicious, my husband is a new lover of catfish, and he thought it was a bit too fresh. We had the potato salad, fried okra, dirty rice and mac and cheese. The dirty rice and fried okra were probably my favorite sides. I tried someones else's pecan smoked sausage, and HOLY MOLY, order it. Thank my later. It was delicious. I have to give it atleast 3 stars because I have been coming here for years. Like in highschool when they were right next to their grocery store and only a few people could fit in the room at a time. We saw how one cook came to tell this cashier to come to the counter and take care of a guest and I guess she replied that she was on break or something so somebody else had to do it.
