We're always trying to find just the right BBQ restaurant near Houston. Midway BBQ has been by far the best restaurant we've eaten at. Brought the in laws from Out of two , place is clean, staff is friendly but Most Importantly the food was AMAZING!!! read more

Stopped in on way back to Houston from Austin. Went with the two meat plate. Ribs and pork shoulder with Mac n Cheese and dirty rice. Ribs had good flavor with visible smoke ring. Pork shoulder had decent flavor, but was a little dry. Mac n Cheese and dirty rice were above average. Rest of group ordered the catfish and they've gave it thumbs up. Overall, the food is good and its close to my place, so I'll return. After my visit, I heard the fried porkchops are legit, so that'll be my order upon my next visit. The decor is fun. Every kind of animal you can think of is on the walls. Not sure who hunted the Wooly Mammoth down... read more

Midway Bar-B-Que - Barbeque Near Me - Katy, Texas

I grew up in Katy so my family has always loved Midway! The food is delicious and we've always enjoyed everything we ate. The service is great and staff are very friendly. I love the decor of the inside, nice for a BBQ place. Before my Grandpa passed away, he was at Midway several times a week with a big group of his friends. read more

Ordered the lotta potato but I can't understand why everything on it was so spicy? It was un-enjoyable. The chunks of brisket were good from what I can tell but the rest was terribly spicy. Oh and the bbq sauce tastes like ketchup. read more

We had a horrible experience with this place. It started out as I ordered through Uber eats and the driver delivered our food to the wrong place (no fault of the restaurant). We decided to duplicate the order and go pick it up ourselves. My husband was just off work after working 12 hours and was excited for his food. He ordered Chicken with a side of coleslaw and French fries. When we got home, the French fries were missing. My husband was very disappointed as that was what he was looking forward to. He said the chicken also tasted dry and not very flavorful. My daughter ordered a baked potato with chicken....the chicken was very dry. I ordered a baked potato with brisket...it was OK but not much flavor. We are foodies and enjoy trying different restaurants. Unfortunately, this one was a huge disappointment and we will not be returning. read more

Meh... I had the sliced brisket sandwich and fries. I didn't care for the brisket, it was tough and didn't have a very good flavor. The fries were hot and they did give us a lot of them. However they are just like the ones you get from the grocery store, nothing special. I also tried the baked potato, it was kind of hard and was topped with the same lackluster brisket. The ice tea was the Gold Peak brand. Meh The restaurant was clean and there was plenty of parking. The employees were friendly to the customers, however two of them were arguing with each other for most of the time we were there. Don't think I will be coming back to midway. read more

This is one of my favorite BBQ places. Their sausage is amazing! I usually have the sliced brisket is also good. I would only give their sides a 4 star. They have live music on the weekends and a nice family atmosphere. Gotta love the animals on the wall. The folks at Midway also do large catering orders and take home. Always love when my wife is nearby and she brings home their family takeout. Great chicken, brisket, sausage and ribs. The fried okra is also pretty terrific. read more

Everything is bigger...at Midway BBQ! Big eats: with some of the best dirty rice and chicken Texas has ever produced cooked and served fresh right in front of you. Big place: one of the largest BBQ venues in Katy with more than enough room for your kid's softball team, corporate events or just a quiet lunch. Big Decor: if you've never seen a REAL elk, moose and bear stuffed and mounted on the wall, you'll see that and more at Midway BBQ hunted and killed by the owner hisself with pictures to prove it! read more

DO NOT EAT HERE! I may be a bbq snob, but this place is totally not worth it. The ribs were dry and had zero seasoning. The bark, if you want to call it that, was from the ribs being over cooked. No seasoning, no salt, no pepper. The brisket was also bland and didn't have any bark to speak of. Sausage was okay. Sides were also terrible. The bbq beans were just canned beans with bbq sauce mixed in. Green beans were mixed with butter water, and the cole slaw was dry. THE only reason I even consider giving this place 2 stars over 1 is because the restaurant is clean and well kept. Can't wait until Cooper's opens up this summer! Katy will finally have a legit bbq joint. read more

Good bbq place. Pretty good lunch special with a decent price. I wish their portions were a little bit bigger though, or maybe I am just spoiled. I got a chopped beef sandwich lunch special thingy and it was good. The door is weirdly on the side and not the front (facing the street). Classic bbq joint decor... i.e. the taxidermist special. They had a Romney/Ryan sign out front, so I know they aren't too happy right now. read more

Midway Bar-B-Que - A lot of damn deer heads on the walls - Barbeque Near Me - Katy, Texas

food is VERY bland it was very disappointing i got the 2 platter with brisket and ribs and bbq beans and mashed potatoes , the ribs were hard and chewy def not fall off the bone, i couldn't even pick up the brisket without it falling apart yet its like they put no flavor or seasoning in it. service was very nice and kind and the restaurant itself looks very clean but oh no the food is very very bland read more

Starting off the staff is so friendly as soon as I stepped foot in the door I was greeted. The restaurant is much bigger on the inside than it looks on the outside. Has a very friendly atmosphere with country cabin vibes. Now to the good part or should I say great part. We ordered the three meat plate with brisket, sausage and ribs and the brisket plate. Each came with two sides which we got potato salad, beans and coleslaw. We got the order Togo. There were some downsides one was the size of the side portions in the Togo order. The cups were very small that they put the sides in wished they had been a little bigger especially for the price when paying for BBQ. The price was not too expensive but for the portion of sides I expected a little more. The other downside was the coleslaw. The coleslaw tasted more like vinegar that actually coleslaw kinda disappointed as I love me some slaw. Last downside was they put all the fixings like the pickles, onions and jalapeños all in one little cup. This was terrible especially for me since I'm allergic to onions but I love pickles. So needless to say I did not get to enjoy any of the side fixings because they were placed all together. This should be something they take into consideration. Other than the small mishaps the food is really good meat is very tender. I will definitely go back but this time I will dine in and ask for all of my side fixings to be separated for allergy reasons. read more

If you like great BBQ, you will love Midway. It's one of our main BBQ favorites here locally. The sauce has great flavor and they give you large portions. The atmosphere is really neat, if you like the country feel, with walls full of trophy size mounts of various species. I've also had them cater parties and they do a fabulous job again in portion, taste and price. Sweet Tea Review: 8/10 Their sweet tea is country style sweet goodness! read more

So so good. My husband and I got the brisket and pulled pork. Definitely gonna stop in again next time I'm in Katy.

Stopped in on our way home from Galveston to San Antonio. Kevin took our order & as we hadn't quite decided what we wanted, he made some recommendations that turned out perfectly. We all ordered moist brisket sandwiches and a different side. Fries, potatoe salad, mac n cheese & okra were all good (okra was my favorite) . They give you a healthy serving on each sandwich which you can top off with onions, pickles & Bar b que sauce. Although we were completly full, we couldn't say no to some peach cobbler (which we all shared). Friendly staff. I let the manager (Debra) know about our experiece... and she was greatful for the feedback. read more

Visited Midway today for lunch. The restaurant was clean and practiced social distancing. The drink stations were blocked off so only employees could serve. Employee was wearing a mask but not gloves. I had a hamburger and sweet potato fries. The meat patty was a generous portion but tasteless and overcooked. The lettuce and tomato were fresh and delicious though. The sweet potatoes fries were unfortunately forgotten in the grease and should have never been served to a customer. My dog, however, enjoyed it. read more

Midway Bar-B-Que - Loaded baked potato with sausage. - Barbeque Near Me - Katy, Texas

This place reopened after catching fire. Not near as good as it used to be. Probably never will go back. Meats taste oven cooked with no smoke flavor. The brisket was chopped rather than sliced. Not good bbq at all read more

Great name for the amount of stars this place deserves. In the country side of Katy, I expected better Q? An out of the way spot where cattle roam wild, and an abundance of woods of all types available, and this is the best they can do? Everything here is decent, but nothing out standing especially with all the pictures of animals these had has on the wall. And it's apparent by a lack of lunch time rush. Thank god there is a Rudy's now opened close by. read more

Best brisket I have ever had!!! We have tried a lot of BBQ sense we moved down here and in our opinion Midway is the best. Their moist brisket always very tender the sausage and the turkey are also very good. The sides are also great. They have live music on Saturday nights. I will say, some of the few noticeable places in Katy, TX are its cute little historic downtown, the No Label Brewing Co. facilities (in a former rice mill that feature a weekend maker market), Willy Burger and Midway Bar-B-Que. There was a fire here a few years back but it has since recently reopened. I am writing this review based on my few experiences there prior to COVID and the fire. The taxidermy is macabre at best, but the space was basically a giant steel building on the former Highway 90 and adjacent the to the former rail line that served this former whistle stop town that has become a huge Houston suburb. With all of that being said, it's great. I realize I will get slack for this comment because Katy is full of great barbecue. But this place just clearly has never changed. It's like stepping back in time when Katy was just a small whistle stop rail town full of rice farmers on the Katy prairie. The traditional Texas bbq menu is pretty much the same as everywhere else but it is, I think, the bizarre taxidermy ambiance of dead animals staring you squarely in the eye that makes this place interesting. The food must be good if you are willing to eat it amidst country music playing on the sound system and dead animals giving you a guilt trip as you get your inner carnivore on. Yes, please. I know it sounds strange, but the authenticity of the food and setting is immensely satisfying. read more

For the most part, the food here is good, but with BBQ in Texas, good just doesn't cut it sometimes because of the many great BBQ joints around. The ribs and brisket are moist and tender, the baked beans are surprisingly good, the Mac and cheese is bland and "kraft Mac n cheese-ish". The loaded potato is HUGE but with the chopped beef, the flavor profiles combined didn't mesh well. It is definitely a place you want to try a few times but that may be it with all the other options around. read more

Midway BBQ catered our wedding! We were very pleased with Midway BBQ for our wedding caterer (we had a 120 person event). Our contact person was easy to work with, everything was delicious (I loved the chicken and mac and cheese), the price was good. You get to do a tasting dinner to try out your options and then you pick meats and sides for your actual event. I am glad we chose Midway. read more

Today was my wife's birthday and she was wanting BBQ. We live in cypress and we are limited in good restaurants with really no BBQ besides Brooks which is just ok and way overpriced for what you get. I did a Yelp and found Midway and made the drive down 99 to Katy which really was not bad at all. Well I am so glad I did! BEST brisket I have ever had and my wife loved it. We also had fried okra, Mac n cheese and banana pudding. Everything was crazy good. We will be back! read more

Wow! This is easily my favorite BBQ place in Katy, if not in Texas! Love that everything here is local, and that they carefully smoke everything on site. All their food is delicious (their brisket is especially amazing!) and reasonably priced. Beware of the large portions though! You will definitely be having leftovers afterwards. Great staff, real-wild Texan taxidermy decor (think someone's trophy room!), clean restrooms and tables. Don't miss the live-bands on the weekends too! read more

We looked up the best barbecue in Katy Texas in midway barbecue came up. We stop by at their temporary location Clean looked organised with a competent staff attended. My wife ordered the barbecue chicken With coleslaw As a side I ordered the slice brisket barbecue beans and potato salad. For drinks I had Ice T and the wife had diet soda. Within 6 minutes they brought our order to our table in small Take out boxes. My wife's side of coleslaw was 2 tablespoons in a plastic container Which she had To Send back as it tasted Awful. My beans were OK lukewarm, Potato salad was reasonable not as good is Rudy's or Papas barbecue. Her chicken was cooked but not tender lukewarm with not a lot of flavour. Her chicken was cooked but not tender lukewarm with not a lot of flavour. My slice Risk it was warm it tasted good but it needed to be hot to get the full flavour and it was tender now the ruination of the whole dinner was the barbecue sauce was God-awful no way around it it was the worst we've tasted. It wasn't a pleasant dining experience and we travelled the country eating barbecue In every state in city we Travelled to. This places no Killens bbq, No Bill Millers in Austin, No Pit Room, Definitely no Salt Lick, the whole experience was a sad dining experience and waste of money..I should have just grabbed a slice beef from Bucckee bag of chips and a giant Gatorade all for 7 bucks and it is pretty good. We've Have written many good reviews With a few that weren't so great but not scathing. This was really a bad tasting experience.. read more

What has happened tO Midway BBQ? I have been here before and have left satisfied, last night was quite a disappointment... food had no flavor and was thrown together by employees behind the counter that didn't appear to care about their customers. 4 stars because our potatoes were warm and we like them hot. Nice flavor compared to places like Rudy's and the likes. Brisket was nice and tender and chopped beef was delicious! Nice kick from the bbq sauce. read more

Midway Bar-B-Que - Picnic tables in dining room. Very family friendly - Barbeque Near Me - Katy, Texas

Small portions.. got my order wrong.. the "BBQ beans" are really just baked beans, no BBQ flavor at all

Pleasantly surprised by Midway BBQ. I was in town, for a wedding, and the bride wanted everyone to meet here the night before. She was raving about the food, but more about the decorations. There are plenty of different animals mounted around the restaurant. It's fairly large, lots of seating available for smaller to bigger parties. We were there on a Saturday night, and there was live music. The musician playing was from Nashville. He took requests and also played a song for the little ones, and invited them up to dance. There is plenty of room to dance, and saw multiple couples dancing to his music, including our bride and groom. Almost everyone in the dinner party ordered the chicken fried rib eye. It was REALLY good, and really well priced, it comes with 2 sides. My husband and I split the ribeye, as well as the catfish plate. The catfish was probably the freshest I have ever had. Delicious, my husband is a new lover of catfish, and he thought it was a bit too fresh. We had the potato salad, fried okra, dirty rice and mac and cheese. The dirty rice and fried okra were probably my favorite sides. I tried someones else's pecan smoked sausage, and HOLY MOLY, order it. Thank my later. It was delicious. Probably some of the best sausage I have ever had. read more

In town from MI and decided to try a few BBQ places! Ordered the pork ribs meal, and it was pretty good! Can't say it's the best ribs I've ever had (didn't really fall off the bone & was really tough), but the bbq sauce was delicious! If you want to try a good bbq place, I'd recommend this place, but maybe order brisket, or pork shoulder. read more

Midway Bar-B-Que - Barbeque Near Me - Katy, Texas

I have to give it atleast 3 stars because I have been coming here for years. Like in highschool when they were right next to their grocery store and only a few people could fit in the room at a time. However, the food has not stayed the same. I got brisket (dry), Turkey (dry) jalapeño cheese sausage (dry not spicy and 0 cheese) smoked ham which I would say is the most juiciest out of all. This really makes me sad because I always talk about this place but it seems as they have gotten bigger the quality of meat has gone down. personally will prolly like this place just won't be my first go to bbq place anymore. read more

I would give them 0 starts if possible. We walked in and the place itself is very nice and seems to be clean. We walked to the line to order and we got a pound of brisket and 2 special sandwiches. The brisket was meh and the sandwiches were cold and barely some meat. This place might not have some good bbq but they do have good drama. We saw how one cook came to tell this cashier to come to the counter and take care of a guest and I guess she replied that she was on break or something so somebody else had to do it. Not even 5 minutes after another employee got into a fight with this other lady and started yelling profanities in the middle of the room! I was there with my mom, wife and my baby toddler and we just felt so awkward! The management didn't even come to our table to apologize or anything! This place needs to bring "Bar Rescue" or someone 'cause they can't control their staff! Won't be back! read more
