Dr. John Nelson is an excellent dentist. Considering that dentistry requires regular x-rays, you want your dentist to have the latest technology to reduce radiation, and to provide high quality images. Dr. Nelson's office is state of the art. He takes PPO and other insurance, and I've never had an issue with coverage. The office staff are quick to provide estimates, and I have not been surprised by unexpected billing. My husband has had two implants performed with Dr. Nelson. The work was perfection, with no pain, and perfect tooth alignment. There office has dedicated parking spaces in the large parking lot. Dr. Nelson and his staff are fantastic! I had a such a great experience here yesterday. A few things to know up front... .they have a full schedule, so book your appointment well in advance. Also, your first visit will take a good 90 minutes or more, so plan accordingly I had been seeing a different dentist for a cleaning 2x per year but wanted to switch for a few reasons. Larry S. came here last year and recommended it. The office is super high-tech! In addition to standard x-rays, they also do a photograph of your teeth. Everything is displayed on an LED screen so you can see exactly what they are looking at. Dr. Nelson and his staff do a great job of explaining everything in detail. As mentioned, I get cleanings 2x per year, so when he recommended multiple visits for deep cleanings, I would have been skeptical had I not seen the evidence of the need. The hygienist removed so much accumulated plaque and debris from my teeth, I was shocked. In fact, they all seemed dubious that I had been keeping up with regular cleanings, which reinforced that a switch to a new dentist was absolutely required. I do not have dental insurance, so I went with their in-house plan. It's not cheap but it's also not expensive when you consider all of the tech they use and the amount of time they invest. I was always in and out of the other dentist in 20 minutes, but my butt was in that chair for 90+ minutes yesterday! Really thought I found a place that professional. Call to make a follow up appointment and was scheduled for 7/3/25 at 12:30PM. Arrived at the location and was told it's no such appointment scheduled. Fine made another appointment not available until the end of the month. Asked to speak with Dr. Sagar Mauskar wanted to ask is there a way I can put my number somewhere just in cause of a cancellation. Receptionist told me I had to make an appointment to speak with him. Told her it's literally not gonna going to take long and see if he will come out. Was told he'll come out shortly, waited 25 minutes and Dr. Sagar Mauskar did not came out to speak with me. His service and care is outstanding, his office is clean and well-equipped with the latest technology and his staff is friendly and efficient. The time he took to make sure I knew my options is rare. My patient plan was carefully reviewed with me and my comfort and comprehensive was paramount. If you are looking or if you are not 100% pleased with your current care, I highly recommend Dr. Nelson. I went to the dentist that they can fix my filling and cleaning the same day. When I got there, they only can do filling and made me to come back for cleaning. I paid $266 what they asked and came back home and talked to the insurance and they said mine covered 80%,sent me the bill next day.I sent email about it and no one respond.A week later, I went back for cleaning and the dentist made a poor job filling my tooth, made the huge gap between teeth.She said, they will look into it and send me the check for difference but it will take 4-6weeks. I showed her bill that I got from insurance and she said that doesn't`t count. And then they charged me for cleaning office visit for $5 and they will deduct from what they owed me. Never paid office visit fee before, whatever. I asked my teeth between the gap. The dentist told me he did it right and I told him that there was no gap between teeth before the procedure. He was not happy about it and made m come back next day, added more material. He was rude and not professional. on top of that he tried to charge me extra $50 for extra material. I told the lady that if he did it right for the first time, I wouldn't`t need to come back. I am already annoyed coming back, tried to charge more? She said, leave it there and anything changes, will call you. Even after 2nd visits, he did such a poor job. I tried to make an appt as a new patient but the office staff was a turn off. I'll go elsewhere. I have a straightforward issue (cracked a tooth and need a crown). My regular dentist is out of network and it was going to be $$$$ so I looked for an in-network dentist on the Aetna site and found Dr. Nelson. I thought it would be an easy process to make an appt and get a crown. I was wrong. The soonest appt they offered was a month out (fine) but that's only an "examination" because the doctor wants to make his "own assessment." Seriously?! It's a cracked tooth! I have x-rays, a referral and two working eyeballs. It seems more likely the unnecessary, extra visit is simply a money grab for more revenue. There's no logical reason why someone should not be able to make an appt for the crown. Even if the doctor believes he needs to "assess" first, why can't that be done in the same appt. as the crown? I saw Dr. Nelson in 2015 to have two veneers put on to match the ones I already had. Keep in mind, I had already had veneers for 10+ years and never had even one issue. He ordered them, put them on and they were the completely wrong color. I tried to suck it up but they really looked awful in comparison to my other teeth so I contacted the office and went back to have them replaced. Really, my first red flag should have been that one of the veneers fell off the day after having them put on. Flash forward a few weeks and Dr. Nelson puts in the two new corrected veneers. The color was finally correct, awesome. In the months that followed, these veneers came off multiple times. This was not my first cosmetic dentistry rodeo, veneers should absolutely not do that. I went back repeatedly to have them re-cemented. Finally I called it quits and found a new dentist. Since Dr. Nelson put on those veneers, I have spent thousands of dollars on those two teeth (in addition to what I paid his office for the veneers themselves!). I have visited multiple dentists to get their opinions on treatment options/alternatives and they have all said the same thing. When Dr. Nelson was putting in my veneers, he apparently shaved off much too much of the tooth and the cement doesn't stick as well to this layer. I've had multiple opinions to verify this and the dentists have all been pretty appalled by the work. At this point my option is either pay for two new veneers that can be designed in a way that they somewhat wrap around/hug my actual tooth (and this option may not even work since the tooth has been shaved away so much!) or get a full crown. This will be several thousand dollars I will have to pay in addition to all the money I've already spent having these teeth recemented over and over and over again. Prior to this I really liked Dr. Nelson's office and had referred him to several friends who needed cleanings. He is very nice but after this fiasco I would not visit him for anything other than basic procedures.! read more

Nikki was in charge of "numbering" all of my teeth, and effectively cleaning them in tow. She explained what each number meant, and introduced me to Dr. Nelson who explained further. On my second visit to Midtown Dental yesterday, I had two teeth extracted. I'm a tremendous baby and have had some traumatizing dentist-related experiences in the past, so I was terrified at the prospect, but Dr. Nelson and his assistant explained the process to me, answered all my questions, and made sure I was comfortable, even letting my boyfriend stay in the room while they worked so I wouldn't have a complete breakdown. The extraction itself lasted less than five minutes--I was astounded! I felt absolutely no pain or discomfort. Such a relief. I was sent home happy and with detailed post-op instructions. Most incredibly, there's been zero pain since (!!!), and no swelling. Getting dental work done is no picnic, but as far as that goes, it was a wonderful experience. I really liked my dentist when I lived in Orlando, so I was really nervous when I moved to Miami that I wouldn't find a good dentist. Today I visited Midtown Dentist and was very happy with the service I received. First of all, they open at 8am which is awesome if you want to go to work afterwards and not miss half a day. Next, the staff at Midtown Dental were all very friendly, professional, and down to earth. Everything was explained to me in simple terms and my X-rays (2), cleaning, and even a filling were all done very efficiently. I was in and out in about an hour and a half, which is not long considering everything they did. Lastly, all of the equipment is new & state of the art - in fact they are going to text me or email me my next appointment vs giving me a little business card that I would've lost. I went to Midtown Dental after finding this office through my insurance. I had been seeing a dentist every six months, and was a dental assistant for 10 years, so I was shocked when Dr Nelson gave me a treatment plan totaling $9000. Although I have had a lot of restorative work done in the past and knew I needed an implant, it didn't seem right to me that my other dentist missed all that other treatment that Dr Nelson recommended. So I didn't just get a second opinion, I went to 3 other dentists. ALL of the other dentists disagreed with Dr Nelsons treatment plan. They all agreed that while they could go in and redo all of my previous work, it wasn't necessary treatment, and I only had one small cavity. I am not doubting whether or not Dr. Nelson knows how to do the treatment, he may be very skilled .... However, do you really need all of the treatment? If you notice the other people who have left reviews on this site all had a significant amount of work done, I am curious how much of the work another dentist might have recommended. My advice is, get a second opinion! Even a third opinion, you will see what I mean...if you want to have a filling or crown on every tooth and spend thousands of dollars unnecessarily, then go to Dr Nelson. ALSO, his hygienist is horrible. I seriously doubt she has a dental hygienist license. After being a dental assistant for 10 years I know what I am taking about. That woman does not know how to clean teeth, she may be nice, but unfortunately, it seems to me that she does not even know how to use the Cavitron, or the prophy cup, which are the basics of a dental hygiene cleaning. After I left, I paid $100 to get my teeth cleaned again, and there was calculus and build up on my teeth, as if they had never been cleaned. Please make sure you have more than a couple opinions before you decide to go with Dr. Nelson, he is going to try to charge as much as he can. Dr. Nelson recommended me a crown on a healthy tooth with a small cavity ,as the crown was not measured correctly, when he placed it he tried to adjust his mistake with by drilling the healthy tooth on top of the crown until I stopped him. He screwed 2 healthy pieces just to charge a bit more without thinking on the best for the patient. I have been going to this dentist office for one year and have been super happy becuase the lady staff that take care of the cleaning have been amazing. I even refered 3 people from my office of real estate 5 blocks down. The biggest and reason for 1 star is the actual animal of dentist that worked on my 1 and only cavity, ive had a flawless teeth besides my one and only cavity that the filling came lose Accurting to this Haiting nationlist...and the he suggested I have work done. I had full trust in him. The day of was a simple filling of $90 which sounded reasonable to me. To make a only story short after two months i could still taste the cheap solution filling he used and after 4 months today im having pain in my tooth. I did go back to him he opened my mouth tap my tooth w the tool and said just wait it out. Now im out of town and dreading to even eat a bite. His not open or answering phone cus of weather conditiona in florida...but i will go pay another Dentist but definitely do not recommend this Dennis I would go to get the cleaning from his workers which are great but from the actual dentist I would not trust them with any of my teeth work ever again! I went there for a regular cleaning, because my previous dentist did not do a good job (more a boucher shop than a dentist). I beleived that, since it was a new place opening, they would try to do a great job to get customers. Well, it went from bad to worst ! 1st : had to wait for 1 hour 15 (with first appointment in the morning...). 2nd : regular cleaning was 1/2 done (just removing the tar manually and flushing - no polishing, no where to spit what was in my mouth, not even some listering) 3rd : trying to overcharge for stuff I don't need (wisdom tooth extract ; deep cleaning). If you go there, just be carefull of what they are quoting you on. Definitly don't recommend. Seems so hard to find a good dentist ! read more
