This office has been extremely unprofessional and irresponsible throughout my treatment. I waited over two months for a crown due to poor dental impressions and repeatedly receiving incorrect crown measurements. After all that waiting, I was called THREE minutes before my scheduled appointment for crown placement and told there was an issue with delivery. They first claimed the delivery service "got lost," then changed the story to "he got into an accident," even though I had already been told the crown should have arrived the day before. The constantly changing explanations made the situation feel dishonest and poorly managed. Communication about charges has also been unclear and inconsistent, and no one could give me a straight answer about billing. As I had to request four different times for the office manager to email me the charges, and have not received an email till this day. I contacted corporate about these issues and was contacted by someone named Beth, who initially apologized and said she would take care of the situation. Unfortunately, she has since stopped providing solutions and appears to have aligned with the same unprofessional behavior instead of resolving the ongoing problems she said she would handle. When I tried to address these concerns directly with the office, the office manager was rude and dismissive rather than helpful or professional. I would avoid her at all costs as she has no idea what the charges shes taking are for. This experience showed a complete lack of organization, accountability, and respect for patients' time. I would not recommend this office to anyone seeking reliable or ethical dental care read more

Humana, my dental insurance carrier has confirmed on 3 occasions that I was overcharged by Friedman Dental Miami $332.80 for a crown I received in June of 2023. They have refused to reimburse me. In addition, the crown fell out less than 2 years after the work was done. In August 2025, Friedman agreed, after much pressure, to replace it with no direct costs to me but they, without my approval, billed Humana and receive $440, which was credited against my 2025 coverage allowance for upcoming work. The crown was initially put in poorly. They should not have been paid for their faulty work a second time, particularly since they over charged me the first time. They have now ceased to work with Humana and there is nothing more Humana can do to assist me. I have now stopped going to this office because of this issue and the fact Humana will no longer cover work there. I have filed several formal complaints against this office with professional monitoring agencies. I have been trying to get my full dental records from them for a couple weeks and they have failed to send them. Recently, I had to see a new dentist and start with new x-rays and no historical record from my over 20 years at Friedman Miami. This office was taken over by new management a few years ago and that's when a lot of customer service and billing issues began. I saw 4/5 different dentist there over the last 4 years. They can't seem to keep the same dentist. They owe me $332.80 for the initial overbilled work and $440 for the amount charged against my Humana Insurance allowance for replacing the faulty first crown. Total ($772.80) plus my full dental records. I would avoid this office completely. read more

DO NOT DO BUSINESS HERE!!! The hygienist is good. The dentist seems to be good but this place is not worth going to. I paid a 50% deposit for a root canal but subsequently had a dental emergency with that tooth over the weekend and tried to get ahold of the dentist and their online chat system was the only way to contact them and it didn't work so I was unable to talk to anyone from Friedman. When I requested a refund for the deposit after choosing to use another dentist (since Friedman proved to not be there in a time of need) for the root canal I was told it was approved and I would receive it within 3 weeks. 5 weeks later I was told the same thing. The reality is they never planned to refund me for canceling the procedure. They are imposible to get a hold of on the phone as well. I called them about 20 times over 6 weeks and no one answered the phone. Additionally, I have called to request copies of my X rays to send to my new dentist and they were never emailed to me. Upon further research I discovered that Friedman is NOT BBB accredited. Stay far away from these scammers. read more

I made a same day emergency visit for a root canal. The place is exceptional, with friendly happy employees. The procedure, and several other options were fully explained with pros and cons of each. While the root canal was long, it was completely painless, and the price was reasonable. Highly recommended!. read more

They own their own dental lab which in my experience is THE WORST EVER. Had an upper acrylic denture made which fit horribly. Then they talked me into a more expensive Valplast denture which fit worse. read more

Very friendly staff and front desk ppl ... my appointment was scheduled for 4:15 ... I arrived early and was able to be seen early which was great .... the location is inside of the shopping area on the second floor read more

Dr. Cogan sold his practice and the new staff is HORRIBLE!!! They are not friendly, very aggressive, rude. When you ask about pricing it feels like you have to bargain, and they come up with a different price every time. They don't accept partial payment, you have to pay in full for whatever you need done, then you have to be on standby to wait for their call to finish what you've started, 2-3 weeks later. They don't file claims properly and I keep getting letters from the insurance. Although I love Dr. Cogan, I, for one, will not go back, and I advise you stay away. read more

Just visited Dr. Cogan's office for the first time, and I think I've finally found where I'll be getting my dental check-ups from now on! I called seven different offices to find the best financial option. I had a dental exam 6 months ago and have never had a cavity before, so my primary concern was to schedule a cheap hygiene appointment. Without insurance and ignoring the "$29 exam, cleaning and xrays!" one time only deals (scams?), Dr. Cogan's office was offering the cheapest cleanings that I could find in the area ($85 without insurance). Even better, whereas several offices said they could only quote me a cleaning price after I had visited with their physician to decide what cleaning would be right for me, Dr. Cogan's office allowed me to schedule a hygiene-only visit and wait to see the dentist at a different visit. Props to Dr. Cogan's office for allowing patients power over their medical care. Anyway, the office found space for me the very next day - another pleasant surprise. The office itself is clean, comfortable, and located in an upscale mall. Its staff are friendly and down-to-earth. Diana, my hygienist, was sweet and gentle (a very important trait for someone who is digging around in your mouth), and I will be requesting her again in the future. Overall, my dental visit involved some entertaining conversation (hard to talk with someone's hand in your mouth!), very little blood, and no tears. Definite victory and great experience overall. read more

I was recommended to see Michael from a friend because I was unhappy with my dentist. Now I know what it's like to have a true professional as my dentist. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Michael truly cares about his clients. He is very experienced and knowledgable. He will answer any question thoroughly and thoughtfully. I came in a bit nervous and left feeling like I found my dentist. read more

100% recommended. I've actually had some horrific dentists here in Miami, and ended up switching to a PPO plan just to get into here. I've been with Dr. Cogan for more than a year now and it's been worth the switch. He does great work, has everything all digitized (none of that archaic equipment that you see in other offices!), and tells you like it is. Prices have been fair, and staff are professional, courteous, and actually care. The best part is that they're pretty much always on time. . . .. and if you're not, you'll get a friendly call about your appointment time ;-) But this to me is worth its weight in gold .. . there's no worse feeling than leaving the office, going to a doc appt, and then realizing that you'll be sitting in a lobby chair waiting and waiting for a tardy doctor and staff. read more

To get an appointment to see the dentist doesn't take very long. Sometimes he can see you the same day. But if you want a cleaning then, yes, there's a wait. That's how it is with most GOOD dentists. An appointment with the dentist and hygienist for a cleaning are two different things. Dr. Cogan and his staff are awesome. Dr. Cogan is hilarious and his staff is very well-trained. I am extremely high fear when it comes to the dentist, and Dr. Cogan is very good with putting me at ease. The only thing I don't like is you have to pay $4 for valet, since they are located in the Grand. read more

I really hate to do this because over all the experience is good but, what was done to me almost made me feeling like they stole from me. I had made a appointment for a Monday morning and I woke up so Sick very high fever I immediately called and I even left a message stating I needed to reschedule well this receptionist was not only rude sad well there's a 55$ charge to reschedule!!!I go im sick I can't control I don't feel good. So fast forward I rescheduled and was super annoyed but too sick to care and I needed my filling done well I get a call a few days later same rude receptionist calls me and goes oh zarina we have to reschedule hahaha I kinda laughed and go should I charge you 55$ dollars but I actually was serious! Life happens things happen out of our control and shame on them to charge 55$ it's almost as much as my freaking filling was!!!! read more

I really like Dr Cogan. As Gita said, he is hilarious! Once I was getting a deep cleaning and actually laughing as he injected me a dozen times! (and I hate needles!) The staff is also fantastic. All the hygienists are very nice and know what they're doing. The receptionist is great as well. I think they also take most insurance companies (even crappy dhmos!) as they recently switched mine @ work and I'm still covered. If you work in the downtown area and need a dentist, you may want to give this office a shot. Whenever I've had an appointment, I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes and I can usually make it back to work within my lunch hour. read more

Excellent service! My experience was that I called on Wednesday to see if they had any openings to get my teeth cleaned. The receptionist is very nice, and told me she would call me if anybody cancelled this week. Low and behold, someone cancelled and I was promptly on my way to get my teeth cleaned! The staff were all very pleasant and Dr. Cogan was very professional and down to earth. I would highly recommend this place over the last place I went. I've been trying to find a new dentist in the area, and believe today I have found him! read more

What a pleasant experience! Dr. Cogan and his staff were amazing!! They really care about your well being and making your comfortable. I was extremely nervous before my appointment due to past dentists that caused more pain and broke the bank. Its so nice to finally find a dentist that cares about the patient and not just their pocketbook. I wish i could give them 10 stars. Will definitely recommend them and refer others to this place!! read more

I just left the dentist's chair and I have to write how AMAZING this doctor/office is, especially compared to some of the horror stories I've played lead role in at other medical/dental offices throughout Miami. I'd seen good things about Dr. Cogan on Yelp, and I should have trusted those reviews instead or trying a closer dentist first. That was a mistake. Dr. Cogan and his staff remind me of my dentist's office "back home," where I got honest, earnest, caring service. Honest, earnest, caring ANYthing is very hard to find in Miami--but it's especially important when they're putting things in your MOUTH! I stopped by in person to present my insurance information and to request an appointment. (They're located on the second floor of the Double Tree Grand Mall. Enter on the right hand side; take the escalator straight ahead to the second floor; and take an immediate right.) The cheerful receptionist Becky confirmed my insurance on the spot and offered me an appointment in two weeks. (She called the next day to offer me an appointment the following day. There was a cancellation. SCORE!) The appointment was, incredibly ON TIME (as many other Yelpers have remarked). And the hygienist Jenna explained everything to me and was very gentle in cleaning my teeth. I know and need to floss better, and she gave me some tips without shaming me. And we hate shame in 2016. Then I met Dr. Cogan. AWESOME DUDE. He has a great sense of humor and a terrific ease about him. Again, he explained everything he was doing to me--and it was clear he was trying to actually get to know me as a patient, a rarity among Miami med service providers. I walked out of the office with a clean mouth, and my insurance paid the bill. My other Miami "dentist" (from Brazil) tried to charge me more than $2000 for a "deep-cleaning" and the filling of 6 cavities I didn't have. I should have trusted Yelp. I DO trust Dr. Cogan. I actually look forward to my next cleaning! read more

Just so disappointed with the quality of work. I had a crown done here (because of the high recommendation of the dentist) and it has fallen off at least 2-3xs per year. I've had to get the crown re-cemented and put back on (no joke) about 8xs now (twice with the dentist and he wouldn't remake it) and other times with 3 different dentists. My dental insurance will not cover the cost of a new crown until a certain time period. Pretty sure a crown shouldn't be doing that, especially considering how much money they cost!!!! It scares me sometimes it comes off when I'm eating or sleeping and I almost swallowed it! I'm in absolute regret of ever getting it done here. Just because prices might be a little less here than others, I would have rather paid more to have excellent quality work that would last over the years and not have me paying extra to fix what this dentist did to me. read more

Finally found a doctor I trust and does great work in Miami. Everything was a breeze and his staff is really wonderful. They were very transparent about costs and timelines for my crown procedure. During cleaning with the hygienist and with my crown procedure I felt comfortable and that I was well taken care of. Dr. Cogan is a total character and cracks jokes and makes you feel comfortable but at the same time it's very clear he knows his stuff. read more

Dr Cogan is super friendly and efficient. The office runs smoothly, I've had 2 appointments and was seen right on time. In and out of the door within 20 minutes for my filling. read more

wait time was an hour for your scheduled appointment you made. There's no A/C and then they take your temperature an hour later sitting in a hot room only to be turned away because your body heat was .7 degree higher cause your sweating. Horrible treatment. Not to mention that they got our insurance information wrong and called to denied us the appointment spot a day before it was supposed to be. We waited a week for that day. Then, we called the next day and a different person answered and re-entered the same information and it worked. read more

the worst experience ever, trying to schedule an appointment with Gladys their receptionist was impossible. I would not recommend this office as is highly unfriendly and not professional at all. I had to choose a different doctor, if the stuff is like that on the phone how is the experience there??? I never write reviews but I'm making an exception for Dr. Cogan's incredible service. I started going to Dr. Cogan about 20 years ago as a child. I had many many fillings, crowns, etc. etc. and I always found the visits a positive and painless experience thanks to Dr. Cogan's gentle manner and funny/friendly bedside manner which distracts you and makes the whole visit pleasant. The other incredible thing about Dr. Cogan is that he is so so honest about what is really needed, not needed, extra precaution, etc. He explains everything and let's you decide what really makes sense for you. To me that is crucial. When I moved away and started going to other dentists I discovered that I was taking things for granted at Dr. Cogan. He really has a magical gentle touch. Since then, I have gone to great lengths and distances to return to Dr. Cogan as my one and only dentist. I can not recommend him enough. read more

We are from California and my husband broke a tooth right as we were getting on a plane to Miami to go on a cruise. I looked on Yelp and found Dr. Cogan. He came in on his day off to fix my husband's tooth. We are super grateful for his commitment to serving patients even when it was likely inconvenient for him (on his weekend!)...he went the extra mile! read more

Was in Miami on a business trip, and a crown fell out. Literally from the time I called to the time I left the office was less than 30 mins. Receptionist was great and Got me in within 3 mins of my showing up. The dentist was excellent and very funny. Can't give them enough stars! read more

After six months of visiting horrible Miami dentists focused on their bottom line more than the necessities of their patients we ended up asking Dr. Cogan to help us out with a dental emergency. We were shocked at how professional he was, what an exception to the South Florida norm of attitude and incompetence he was, and how, honestly, how artistic he was. This is not a review blowing hot air. This is a breath of fresh air. Moreso, he we thorough and detailed - making a crown on the spot using his creative talent and he was affordable. Nash, at the front desk, also was easy to talk to and very helpful. I can't recommend him enough. read more

As someone with a deep (and admittedly irrational) fear and aversion to going to the dentist, I was delighted by my experience with Dr. Cogan. His staff is professional, thorough and friendly. Dr. Cogan himself has a wonderful personality and bedside (chairside?) manner. He is genuine and knowledgeable. He put me at ease before I sat down for my cleaning and addressed all my concerns when we went over my xrays and exam. This was by far my best experience with a dentist. I will be a patient going forward. read more

Dr. Cogan and his team is fantastic! Once you get over the throw back to the 80's Omni Center, you'll be greeted by a warm and welcoming staff. The hygienist are gentle with the tools all while you get to lay back (old school comfortable chairs) and watch HGTV (or you choice of programming.) Dr. Cogan is a master at his work, I had an emergency filling that needed repair (from 1993) the end result looked completely natural! If you need to be seen immediately, you may be out of luck, unless you call in standby, so plan ahead as he is well worth it! read more

Dr. Cogan is one of the nicest dentists I've ever been to. He's a genuinely sweet person with great bedside manner that made me feel welcomed and eased my nerves about ever going back to the dentist. His hygienist Jenna was also amazing. I've never had such a pleasant cleaning! Thanks guys! read more

Con: took 2 months for a cleaning appointment. Pros: Fast, professional hygienists. I had a lunchtime appointment, and I was done in 45 minutes. No wait time in the lobby. Dr. Cogan's great, and he DOES NOT try to sell you products like most dentists these days. Staff is nice and this place operates like a well-oiled machine. Dr. Cogan is awesome! Besides being a great dentist, he has great "bedside manner" in dealing with his patients; he is funny and understanding and willing to take the time to explain what is going on. I also think the Receptionist is fantastic! read more

I went to this dentist because of the good reviews on yelp. I went and had absolutely nothing wrong, but the doctor insisted on changing an old filling. I did and he hurt my nerve or something, and could not eat after that. I ended up with a root canal! I couldn't believe that from not having any cavities I could end up with a root canal. Definitely a very stressful situation. read more

Let me start by saying that I've never been one to write reviews on this thing but after a lifetime of dreading the dentist, I've finally found a dentist that changed my views!! Dr. Cogan made me feel comfortable from the moment I walked into the door! He was very patient and knowledgeable and really seemed to care about his patients. I can't thank him and the rest of his staff enough! I'm so happy I found this place that I had to share my experience!! No longer dreading my next dental appointment. I will never go to another dentist in Miami! I have some pretty complicated dental issues and had been to three dentists in Miami before Dr. Cogan. The other three looked for the easiest short term fix. Dr. Cogan took a very caring approached, explained all of my options, including what ones would be best for the long term.
