I've been coming to this dentist for the past couple of years, and I'm so glad I made the switch after some not-so-great experiences elsewhere. This is an honest, kind group of professionals who actually care about your well-being--they're not in the business of inventing problems just to pad the bill. Case in point: I have two baby teeth that every other dentist over the last 20 years wanted to yank out and replace with implants (probably because implants are profitable). But those teeth are still sitting firm in my mouth--no issues. Instead of pushing unnecessary procedures, this dentist is helping me keep them healthy for as long as possible. And shoutout to my dental hygienist Mario--he gave me an incredibly thorough cleaning yesterday and was just wonderful all around. Thank you so much for everything you do! read more

I've been coming here for several years now and it's amazing to see the growth and transformation. Usually when a company grows they lose focus on their customers but not here I have to say. The care is personalized and focus on what you need, from cleaning to a crown or recommending a good orthodontic if needed. I have to say that Tom is running an amazing team with Pilar always being there to guide you and answer your questions, not to forget about Jen, haven't met a nicer hygienist/person. Thank you and see you soon. read more

Summary: I recently visited Miami Beach Smiles and had a troubling experience that I believe others should be aware of. The office's practices, particularly regarding pricing for cash-paying patients versus those with insurance, suggest a significant disparity that borders on unethical. Here's a detailed account of my experience: Pricing Discrepancies: It's alarming that Miami Beach Smiles charges cash-paying patients more than double what they charge large insurance companies. For instance, I was quoted $250 for a 1-surface filling, whereas the insurance rate for a 2-surface posterior filling was $130 and for a 3-surface posterior filling, it was $159. Same for cleaning - I was charged $130, insurance patient $65) This stark difference in pricing--where patients without insurance are charged approximately twice as much--reflects a troubling pattern of overcharging for cash payments. This practice not only seems unfair but potentially unethical, as it leverages the financial vulnerability of patients without insurance. Questionable Treatment Plan: During my consultation, I was presented with a $16,000 treatment plan that included nine crowns, a recommendation that seemed excessive and questionable. The focus of the treatment plan appeared to be on pushing extensive crown work rather than addressing more straightforward issues such as visible chips and cavities. These straightforward issues were initially overlooked but later addressed as complimentary restorations. It is concerning that these necessary restorations were only identified after the original plan failed to account for them. High Costs and Debt Suggestion: When discussing the cost of treatment, Dr. Gaertner suggested using CareCredit to cover the high expenses, essentially encouraging me to go into debt to afford a treatment plan that seemed inflated. This approach to managing costs--where patients are pushed into debt to cover exorbitant charges--is troubling and indicative of a focus on maximizing revenue at the expense of patient financial well-being. X-Ray and Exam Fees: The office charges $150 or more for an initial visit, X-ray, and exam, while other practices charge around $59 for the same services. This substantial difference in pricing reinforces the concerns raised about the office's billing practices. The high cost for basic services reflects a broader issue with how the office manages pricing for cash patients versus those with insurance. Operational Issues: The office's setup also raises concerns. The dental assistant's movements and the need for the dentist to frequently adjust his position due to poorly placed items created a discomforting and inefficient experience. This lack of proper setup detracted from the overall quality of care. Staff and Communication: While the dental staff was generally great and professional, there were inconsistencies in how pricing and insurance coverage were communicated. Pilar, the office manager, initially indicated that there would be no exam fee if insurance covered the work, but this information changed when it became clear that I was paying cash/HSA. Such inconsistencies in communication contribute to an overall lack of trust. Overall Experience: Based on my experience, I do not trust the pricing practices at Miami Beach Smiles. The intentional disparity in charges for cash-paying patients, the questionable treatment recommendations, and the push towards using CareCredit to cover inflated costs are deeply concerning. I urge potential patients to carefully consider these factors before proceeding with treatment at this practice. see the pictures below for yourself - two are blacked out to avoid reference to patient with insurance Dishonest greedy unethical owner Dr Gaertner was directly responsible for this entire situation. Be careful of dentists in Miami this is common. read more

I really love this place! I had a few predatory dental experiences when I first moved to Miami, but once I found this place, I knew I was in good hands. I love the office staff and they are easy to communicate with (you can email or text if you're an introvert like me lol). Office is very clean and also I noticed they have really high-tech equipment. Although I was horrified to see my teeth that close up LOL but truly amazing tools that they have to go along with their caring service and knowledgeable dentist. Thank you guys! read more

I can't recommend the dentists and staff at Miami Beach Smiles enough! After over eight years as a patient, I can confidently say that their expertise and care are unmatched. My sister raved about this clinic - many of the hygienists are actually qualified to be dentists in South America, and they do a world class teeth cleaning. When I needed an implant, I wound up flying here from NYC on my sisters recommendation, after trying 2(!) Columbia Med School dentists in NYC and finding myself in a lot of pain. The care is that good, and I have confidence in everyone in the practice - but especially Dr. Gaertner. Making an implant is an art involving a lot of expertise and patience. Once the tooth is implanted, he takes almost an hour to make sure it is precision fitted for your jaw. He fits your new tooth as meticulously as a jeweler fits a stone in a setting. I was getting impatient, and he gently admonished me that it had to be done right. The new tooth fits like a dream. The office is also beautiful and spotless, offering views of windswept palm trees as they carefully numb your gums so you don't feel a thing. And the front office could not be better, with Pilar and her staff finding, confirming, changing and reconfirming every appointment. If you've been having trouble finding the right dental clinic, come to Miami Beach Smiles. read more

Loved the staff and doctor took time in examining my teeth and explaining what was needed/why

I had the pleasure of visiting Miami Beach Smiles as a new patient. I couldn't be happier!!! Everyone was warm and welcoming. The office was very meticulous about cleanliness and adhering to COVID protocol (ie masks, hand sanitizers and even free standing hepa filters in each exam room). The office was clean and bright. Dr Gaertner was professional and had a calming aura to him. They made me feel like I've been a long time standing patient. The dental assistant was a sweetheart and Angie the hygienist was thorough as well as informative. I will definitely be back! Thank you for taking such good care of me. read more

The dentist did an OK job, although my temporary crowns crumbled within hours. But the billing is very shady, downright scam. They quoted me one price, then charged me so much more blaming on miscommunication with my dental insurance. That is NEVER ok. read more

Thank god for this place and Dr. Ilon who works there. He literally saved my life this morning. I've never had such a horrible relentless pain in my tooth in my life. Ilon had my comfort in mind the entire time. He spoke to me about my options, checked in with me every step of the way to make sure I wasn't in pain. I'm almost 40 years old, and this was BY FAR the best experience I've ever had. Look no further, this is the office and the dentist you want and need. I'm so grateful to have found him. read more

I can happily share that I am a new patient of Dr. Gaertner's and I am so happy to have found him and his wonderful staff. After my initial cleaning, I was informed I needed 2 small fillings. I am a very nervous patient so I was not happy to hear this, but I knew that I needed to have my dental issues addressed. I had both fillings today and the procedure could not have been more perfect! Dr. Gaertner was very patient and understanding regarding my fears and made me very comfortable so that I did not feel a thing. I would not hesitate to recommend him and his caring team. read more

Have just completed my 4th visit at this business. Have avoided and neglected to visit any dentist for years due to my fears and anxiety. Will only go out of necessity. Found Miami Beach Smiles online and had a good feeling about going. It is a 45 minute drive for me to get over to the beach, but I am so glad that I finally did it. Dr. Dolphin is awesome. Experience has been outstanding with the doctor, the hygienist, Angie, and the entire staff. Very caring and gentle. Felt very relaxed and comfortable throughout all of my visits. I had not been to the dentist since moving to Miami a few years ago. I have had bad luck finding decent doctors, so naturally I assumed I would have the same problem finding a dentist. Thankfully I was wrong, and found this great dentist/office right off the bat. All of the staff is extremely friendly and knowledgable. Also, The office is very clean, and modern. I really like the computer displays right at the patients chair, to give immediate results for Xrays and what not. I also got the SRP deep cleaning, which went very well. I was quite apprehensive at first, but the hygienist did a great job, kept me reassured, and I did not feel any pain or discomfort. My teeth feel great! read more

Friendly, caring and professional staff; clean, calm, quiet facility. Great experience!

A year ago I lost a filling in one of my tooth, I never went to the dentist because I hate needles and that horrid drill, it gives me the creeps. Finally a good friend convinced me to go to this dentist, and it was the best decision. They used topic anesthesia to not feel the inyection, and another anesthesia to not feel the drill, they made me feel really comfortable and their work was impeccable and super fast. I'm very happy with the results, I would totally recommend.. read more

Everyone was absolutely wonderful in this dental office. The doctor, hygienist and secretary all went above and beyond to make my experience a positive one. Dr. Gaertner is very knowledgeable, kind and compassionate dentist. It had been 10 years since my last dental cleaning due to a bad experience in Arizona. Thanks to Dr. Gaertner and the rest of his caring staff, I went from being scared to go to the dentist to actually looking forward to it. Everyone was very professional and took the time to show kindness and compassion. Best dentist ever! I highly recommend him and his office to all! read more

I recently moved further north and started going to a new dentist and it really made me appreciate how great that Miami Beach Smiles is. This new dentist is trying to scam me by adding procedures and medications that Miami Beach Smiles never recommended, and tried making me pay for those services before the appointments even occurred. Miami Beach Smiles would never do such a thing. It is such a professional location with wonderful staff. Pilar at the front desk is always so pleasant and helpful. I have had a few different dentists at Miami Beach Smiles perform multiple fillings and crowns over the past 5 years and I could never feel a second of pain during any of them; they procedures were almost relaxing! I even almost fell asleep during a filling once! It can be so frustrating to find a honest and truly skilled dentist, and I am so grateful that Miami Beach Smiles exists. They are worth the hour+ drive that it would now take me to get there. I will be back! read more

This has to be the best dental practice ever. Super professional, friendly, efficient. Dr. Gaertner is tops.

We all hate needles. We all know hard it is to find a dentist you like AND trust. I am one of those; terrified of needles, of the chair and the drilling. This is no joke, this office is amazing! I dare you to find a more compassionate group of people to care for your mouth. They've changed my life in terms of dental fear factors. Dr Gaertner is kind and understanding..he really wants what's best for your dental health. The staff make you feel like family. I've had a lot of work done recently...A LOT...and every time I set foot in that office I'm greeted so warmly. Professionals all around and just really nice people. Dr. G has specialists come TO HIS OFFICE if he doesn't perform a certain procedure. Periodontist Dr. Berkowitz and Endodontist Dr. Cruz. They mesh perfectly with the warmth and empathy of the office. All of these doctors and the staff make themselves available any time, making sure you're ok. Office is clean, modern and full of goodness and I never thought I'd say that about a dental office! Please, if you're in need and you're nervous or in pain, give these guys a try. I guarantee you, you will be itching to write a similar review. read more
