Today I came on a Sunday and they actually have a Sunday brunch where they have a live DJ they play music. They have shots going around it's fun and if you're going out with the family like I did today, you can sit in the upper area that's away from everyone else having the brunch fun. It was still fine even though we brought the kids and sat in the upper area. We could still hear the music and enjoy ourselves. I would highly recommend this place. They had gone to their original location in Livermore in the past and were surprised to have found it moved. We had very friendly service and excellent cocktails. If you want to get a Boilermaker, they can get it for you (off of HH) - friend asked what types of whiskey they had and our server pulled out a whole BOOK! Cocktails were all tasty and quite complex. We all really enjoyed them: Brat summer, Frose (they only had one slushie ready - and it was boozy!), Peach Don't Kill My Vibe, and She's Gone Green. I like that they only had low ABV cocktails and mocktails, although your choices are limited to 1 in each category if you can't have grapefruit for medical reasons. They had a lot of great drink options, and we tried quite a few. The espresso martini was great, and the lavender drink I got was really good too. Overall, though, we would all probably pick the yellow drink over the others. The food itself was incredible. I got the corn ravioli pasta, which was sweeter than I expected, but I should have guessed that from the ingredients. It was still delicious. The jambalaya was by far the best dish at the table, though. Absolutely incredible. The Chinese noodles also had an amazing presentation. I've never seen something like that before, and they tasted amazing too. We opted to sit outside due to the nice weather. They brought us waters and bread to get started which I appreciated. For drinks, my wife went with the Cab and I chose an old fashioned. Both came out promptly. For appetizer's, keep in mind they're not very large portions and can take a bit to come out. I suggest 1 appetizer will be enough for two people. Order more than you think you need if you're hungry or it's a larger party. Since it was later in the day, we both chose salads for our entrees. They were delicious! You can tell the ingredients are fresh and of high quality. Our server and service was great- we were checked up on just enough but not too much. Our server was soft spoken, friendly and efficient. I always enjoy working with a server who is professional, courteous and not overly invasive. Not only do I plan on coming back, I'm going to be telling all my friends and family about Elia. Like I'm sure they'll do something for the Halloween months and I'm sure it'll get all Christmas-y during December. In the summer months when I went, it was kind of an underground island-pirate themed. "Lost Pigeon Island." Now the decor isn't high production or anything , think school dance level production. There was a turquoise aquatic color scheme in a darkish space, a cotton-y material by the door that towered toward the ceiling to give the impression of a 3D cloud. And the feature I was most a fan of was they had these huge 'painted' portraits of a heroic pigeon in the theme for the season. So a pigeon with a shark in one frame, another pigeon in pirates garb in another. And these frames were above the main booths so everyone can just soak up the fun. Place gets busy and they do take reservations. Rezzies might even be mandatory on Friday/Sat nights I'm sure. We strolled in on a lazy Sunday afternoon no prob, but the place was like 85% filled. There was only 1 bartender that time of the day. And these labor intensive cocktails take a while to make. Multiple bottles to grab, different mixers for each drink, different glassware, garnishing fruits or spice and dabs of assorted bitters. Cool tender told us he'll be with us as soon as he can. We said no prob. Probably took a little over 5 minutes for him to open up. But it was entertaining enough watching all these elaborate drinks get made right front of me. Toasted Trader ($18/4*) Bourbon , Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Italian Holiday Tea, citrus and bitters. Not sure if this was made to specs but there may have been a slight alteration. Not that I'd really know but I thought I heard the bartender mention something. But the drink was served up, with a garnish of star anise inside the glass and a cinnamon stick that he lit to smolder. The drink was so smooth and interesting, a touch sweet and sour with a creamy texture even though it was clear-ish. Menu says 'clarified milk punch' but I have no clue on what that entails. I just know it was pretty tasty but think they left out the Cinnamon Toast Crunch part out. Which wasn't a deal breaker. Afterglow ($18/4*) Cilantro infused vodka, cachaca, citrus, ginger, tiki bitters and mango liqueur. Another very interesting concoction this time garnished with popping boba which silhouettes in the warm yellowish cool liquid. We each only had 1 as fun as the drinks are and as kitsch the vibes were, we are just kinda simple and straight forward drinkers. A Ketel n soda and/or a double Jami on the rocks with a beer back. And this block has several choices for such simplicity and lack of theatrics. I'd still come back if I was with the right people and occasion. It is pricey but with the right peeps can be a fun and whimsical out.

Welllll I love this place. Or loved. You can see my past rating the owner replied rather sassily and even made a jab at me needing my $140 back. Kind of crappy and pretentious of you. I did reply back and you never sent me an email. I had no issues and really appreciated your response to my messages. However your attitude is gross. Update/reply to owners new updates comment: Thank you for the refund- though I still don't see a note in my email from you regarding this. And never noticed a refund. I'll take your word for it since this was almost a year ago. The one star- to be clear-is for your attitude. You, the owner, instead of going about it professionally, you decide to go about this (a whole year later) in a very public manner in an attempt to be funny? I honestly wonder if you're sober writing this because it's just so incredibly unprofessional. This has left a very very sour taste in my mouth. read more

The place is cheap and not very tidy considering its neighborhood. The drinks were not at all good. Service was mediocre, and Bartenders were busy chatting with their buddies and were not paying attention to other customers. Especially one bartender who was in his sixties was very rude to the customers. I guess they can charge more to hire good bartenders, improve the quality of the service, and keep the place tidy. I would instead give a negative rating to this bar, but unfortunately, that is not the option on yelp. read more

This bar was nothing near quiet and chill when we swung by. It was more of a frat basement vibe (which I actually found quiet endearing). This place is super tiny. When I came, all the chairs/furniture were pushed to the side to make room for a dance floor. The DJ played frat classics like 'Mo Bamba' and somehow created an energy where everyone was being perfectly carefree and dancing all over the place. Everyone was cramped up in the tiny dancefloor but still had enough room to move around and get to the bar. There was a pool table that was covered off to the side and some games lined up on the wall (to likely be used on a more casual and lowkey night). They had a bunch of security. They had guards at the entrance, by the DJ, and at the back door (that I think led to an outdoor patio). I'm not sure if this makes me feel reassured or concerned that they feel the need to have so much security. To me, the drinks were average. You walk into the bar area and BAM there's a mechanical bull! When you walk a little further in, you will be delighted to see a packed dance floor of line dancers grooving together to the beat. On this Friday night, it was absolutely packed with a diverse crowd. The music wasn't necessarily country but played a majority of the common line dancing hits. Even people that didn't know how to line dance were having a great time. The bartenders were very friendly and quick. We saw the bartender making a delicious-looking drink for the people next to us and we asked for whatever they were having. She told us it was a Moscow Mule with grenadine. It ended up being very tasty. It was not the strongest drink out there but still very good. There is plenty of seating available throughout the bar. There are booths, long benches and tables, and stools close to the dance floor. I noticed that there was a group that reserved some of the long tables for a birthday party (which I will definitely take note of for the future) My group decided to head out and return later. Luckily, because we still had our initial entry stamps on our wrists, we were let back in without facing the cover charge again.
