My comment is based off the recent jump in price! I use to go here because it was a huge savings over the dealership for an oil change and tire rotation. That really isn't the case anymore. The oil change jumped $10 (understandable), added some $10 shop supply fee and now they add in a 3.5% credit card fee. And yes I used a coupon. If they are going to add all this extra charges is not cost efficient anymore. I'll probably go to Ford next time. read more

Did an oil change with them recently. It wasn't the best I've had. They're a bit on the pricer side ($15-25 more than average versus "mom and pop" mechanics) & their communication to their customers leaves a bit to the imagination. They took literally double the time (2hrs vs 1hr) as they said it would take without keeping me posted. I also didn't like how they adjusted all of my settings, such as my mirrors and seat placement, without putting it all back in place. Edit - I dropped this from 2 to 1 stars because this oil change ended up being much more than I expected to spend. Apparently this was due to my car needing a special part (with labor) that they didn't have the courtesy to give me a heads up on. Not surprising since they didn't even call me to let me know I was done - rather I was walking on the street and saw my car done and in a different parking spot so I proactively approached them. read more

My last visit to Midas Springfield I was told that my two front tires were very close to being needed to be replaced. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was given a quote and a couple weeks later I set up an appointment-online-for the tires to be replaced.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I made my way to the shop for my appointment at 8:30am- 10 minutes early. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was checking in only to be questioned if I spoke to anyone at the shop about ordering the tires.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was stated that they usually need to order the tires a day ahead for the planned services the next day. I received no communication by phone, text or email to alert me to this stipulation.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]My appointment/requested service was in their system/computer but no communication.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] On top of that I was told that the prices might have change and said prices "fluctuates" and they might be more despite having a written quote for said tires and service. So as it turns out the tires were ordered but they are supposed to be delivered around 4pm. My appointment was at 8:30. I have been using this Midas since I move to Springfield nearly 5 years ago. Every 5000 miles i have them change the oil and rotate the tire. I got a flat last weekend and to my horror I discovered the had cross threaded one of my lug nuts at my last oil change back in March. There's really no excused for this, but this is the third time with 3 vehicles at 3 service facilities in 15 years that I have had this happen, so it is more common than it should be. So I stopped over on Monday with the lug nut in hand and told the new manager Josh I would have to decide if I would continue getting my oilchange/rotation there and gave him my phone number. He looked at the nut, confirmed that indeed they had recently rotated my tires and said "of course we will take care of this at no charge". So I said told him, sounds good, I will pay you to mount my tires, they should arrive Wednesday. Murphy's law came into play and replacing that stud was unfortunately difficult and there were several additional complications (and additional parts were needed and paid for by them) However every step of the way I felt very fairly treated. I know enough about cars, and about Murphy's law, to understand they were not hustling me, and that this was just one of those unfortunate series of events that just happen some time. You can tell more about a business when things go wrong than during a routine transaction. I will certainly continue using this shop for oil changes and tire rotations, (and possibly more) as they stood by their mistake and made things right. No hedging with me paying the parts or other nonsense. Josh took responsibility and made things right. This is in stark contrast to my other stripped lug nuts at other places. They both lost my business. I suspect all the mechanics at this Midas will be made aware of the expense caused by skipping the simple step of thread on the lug nut a full two turns before using the air-wrench. If you change tires commercially, learn this lesson (it also to other types of screws when using a power driver). read more

I don't really like to write long reviews, but I want to let everyone know that this Midas is awesome. I didn't have an appointment, but the front desk told me to drop the car in the morning and they will have my wheels alignment done before the end of the day. Not only the job was done, it was completed less than 2hrs. The owner/manager and desk clerk were SUPER nice. In my past experience, a typical auto service don't really care about customers and just want to get your car out the door, but not this Midas. It was my first time there and I will certainly come back for my other vehicles in the future. read more

I called Midas about 3 weeks ago in Springfield, VA 22150 and scheduled an appointment for an oil change. The person who took my appointment information asked for year, make, and model. Upon arriving, I was greeted warmly and everyone was very nice. May car was taken I'm on time; but unfortunately 2010 -2023 CHEVY CAMARO'S are too low for the lift (because Midas lifts don't have a ramp). SO IT WAS A TOTAL WASTE OF MY TIME AND I HAD TO PAY $40 more for a synthetic or $30 more for a synthetic blend at Jiffy Lube down the street? Midas OWES ME THE DIFFERENCE IN PRICE. 1. WHY ARE V6 CAMAROS AT STOCK RIDE HEIGHT NOT ABLE TO BE SERVICED? 2. WHY DID MY APPOINTMENT GET BOOKED when NO CAMAROS IN A DECADE CAN BE SETVICED ON A LIFT AT ALL? I've been going to these guys for just oil changes for a few years. They are great for that. Can't comment on their other services, but here's why I like them: -They mail me coupons, but they're easy to find online, too. However, I forgot my coupon today and they didn't even ask for it. They honor it anyway. -They are quick. I make an appointment online, and I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes before they start working on my car. Done in under 45 mins with an oil change and tire rotation (included). -Frequently comes to less than I expect. Not bad! -They're friendly and don't try to up-sell at all. Period. They will note anything they find on their quick inspection, but after they mention it, they don't give you a hard sell to get you to do it with them that instant. Had front break pads and rotors replaced. Within a few days, there was an awful high-pitched squealing noise everytime brakes were used. Took the vehicle back to get issue addressed and they said they couldn't recreate the problem, so they couldn't do anything about it. On the drive back home, the same exact noise. Took the vehicle back in again and now they actually offered to try to fix the issue by replacing the pads with so-called "premium" pads. Things seemed fine for a couple weeks and then same noise again. Reached out several times and they did not even respond. They cleary use subpar brake parts and are unapologetic about it. Customer service is non-existent. read more

Midas continues to disappoint. They continue to mark up prices to the extreme. The alternator from Advance auto parts costs $268 and they marked it up to $550. They refuse to allow you to bring you own parts like other Midas shops allow. I don't recommend going to them if you can plan ahead. I guess they can do this when you are in an unexpected situation. Let's not even take about the hourly labor rates. They are about 33 percent higher than other local shops. Customer service is great and quality of work is good. read more

Midas in Central Springfield is quite a surprise. Among comparable auto repair shops. Coming on a weekday, it is rarely crowded. IV one here for muffler, exhaust and brake work. Midas gets the work done in about an hour. The staff are pleasant and not pushy. They will give you an estimate of work to consider. A nice waiting area is provided, with wi-fi. I have been quite satisfied with this Midas location. read more

Oil change seems good but very pricey. I normally pay $35 for my cars oil to be changed at other businesses, but I really needed it changed and the other places were closed, so I tried out this place. They told me the oil change for my car would be $35. After they were done, my bill ended up being $58. So in the end, it was $35 for the filter and then they charged me $5 extra for "shop supply", whatever that may be. Then an additional $14 for labor LOL I look like I'm in high school so they seemed to try to charge me for everything they could because I didn't know what I was doing. Anyway, 1 star for the oil change. I'm never going back because it's dishonest business practice. I would not recommend this place for any big fixes either because it seems they will try to rip you off or cut corners if they can. That's what dishonest businesses do. read more

Midas - Overpriced for an oil change. - Auto Repair Near Me - Springfield, Virginia

Long story short, I brought in my car for an alignment. The steering wheel was straight when I drove in a straight line. It just had some vibration on the highway at 60+ so I figured an alignment might fix it. I replaced the lower control arm and ball joint on my own and figured I must have fiddled with the alignment. They said they would not guarantee that alignment would fix it, so I agreed to that. I dropped off the car. Once they were done, they called me and I asked them if the issue was fixed. They said no, but the alignment was good and it is much straighter on the highway. I came to pick it up and the worker at the front said the vibration issue is probably because of the tires and I would need them replaced. But, get this, I purchased the tires 10 months ago, brand new and they were balanced. I decided to drive it on the highway to test it out and low and behold, the steering wheel was off! If I direct it straight, the car would veer off to the left. Unsafe! In order to drive straight, I have to turn the steering wheel slightly to the right, at least 1/2 inch from the center line. When I brought the car in, the steering was perfectly fine, so they messed up my alignment. Next, the brakes! The brakes were 100% fine when I brought the car in. After I left, it felt funny and would not grip as well. It felt like something was binding. So I took the car home, jacked up each corner and to inspect and see what was going on. So, it turns out, the rear right brake dust cover was pressed up against the rotor! That's funny, when I brought the car in, it was not like that. I had to press it back out. That fixed the braking issue and now it brakes fine. Taking the advice of the guy working up front, I swapped out the 4 tires with another set of new ones to see if tires were the issue, but it still had the vibration issue. Anyways, they called me back 2 days later to ask me if the issue was resolved. I told them no and they said to bring it in and they can inspect it and fix it for me. Well, something seemed shady about everything. I used process of elimination and figured the problem was either the ball joint or the lower control arm since those were the only two things I replaced (they were ripped). Turns out, I had to lower the car down to put tension on the lower control arm before tightening the bolt / nut down to spec. The car drives fine now! Next, I was charged an extra $5 for "shop fees" for an alignment? Really? I also brought in a second car that day to get an alignment (my brother's car). The steering was well off. They were unable to fix it and said in order to fix it, it would need adjustable upper ball joints and the guy said it would cost some $400 something. No thanks. So be careful when you take your car out to shops, they may try to make extra money by bending things here and there to make you come back to get it fixed. read more

I cannot say enough about how incredible this location was. I just moved to the area in August and I was working on getting my car inspected so that I could register it in VA. I failed the state inspection due to an exhaust leak in my car. I went to several places to get a quote on repairs and everyone was telling me that it would be anywhere from $750 - $2250. I went to Midas on the recommendation of a friend and Eric took a look at my car. He told me he could have it fixed in an hour, no problem. And all for the low cost of $300. I could've cried I was so excited. He fixed my car in an hour as​ he said and I passed the state inspection with no problems. He was so friendly and honest and helpful. This place is ONLY HONEST state inspection place i know. I took my car to Annandale Shell station across from Safeway and they said gave me 4 fails items costinf $700 total. I then angry and take Midas of Springfield and they pass with just $200 of fix. Happy, I then take my expensive Lexus for also State inspection and all pass without cost but $16. I am taking both my car here again....but avoid Annandale Shell across from Safeway at all cost. read more

Yesterday (September 7, 2019) afternoon when I came out from shopping and found that my car won't start and the check light was on. I opened the hood and realized that the battery went bad. Luckily I saw a nearby Midas Springfield shop. I walked over and talked with Kenny (I guess he is the store manager). He immediately instructed a technician drove me over to the car location and jumped start it. I drove the car back to the store and Kenny arranged to have my battery replaced. He had the same technician to take care of the job. Less than two hour, my car was running good again. They quoted me 500.00 for pads and rotors - I refused but still was charged 30.00 for the info. REMEMBER some auto shops will let you bring your own break pads which you can purchase for 20.00 and up at auto parts store - Also, some auto mechanics will not charge you for the info you already knew!!! read more

I waited three hours for an oil change, and it felt like the shop really wasn't well coordinated at all (specifics to follow), despite being staffed at the front desk by both Dallas and Eddie all morning. Sitting in the waiting room, I also got to hear some questionable details of what was going on, including: -Their safety inspector who apparently "missed" a bad wheel bearing on a car he had just inspected. Fortunately, they caught it in time (before the customer left) to perform the $475 repair for the customer. -The customer who made a 10 AM appointment by phone the previous day but was told upon arrival that they had no record of the appointment. The customer was challenged to provide the name of who he had spoken with the previous day, which he did not know. He subsequently asked to see the manager ("Dallas") and was similarly told by Dallas that they were sorry, but that there was little they could do for him unless he'd like to return at 1:30 PM or later for his 10 AM appointment. This customer subsequently called Midas (I'm guessing Midas corporate) to complain, which surprisingly reached the shop management while I was there. From what I heard, nothing beyond an "Oh, okay, we were busy" was apparently the shop's internal resolution, since that's where it was left. It's worth nothing that the "busyness" they were experiencing was likely in part their own creation through disorganization and, in the case of the missed bad wheel bearing, questionable competence. -I observed two walkouts, one after waiting quite some time. I would have walked out, myself, but had already invested too much time to do so. On the positive side: -Dallas noticed me still sitting in the waiting room 2 hours after arrival and asked which of the cars in the shop bays was mine. When I told him that my car had not been taken back yet, he said that he'd "put mine on the top of the pile." True to his word, my car was next to be taken back. -My oil change seems to have been performed competently (fresh oil, no leaks thus far), despite being performed by the same employee who I overheard Eddie describe to Dallas as being unreliable. read more

I pulled off the main road because I had a flat tire while driving on a highway, exiting in a neighborhood I'm not familiar with, and luckily pulled into the Midas parking lot. Thought this was my lucky day! When I walked in i simply asked for help, explaining my situation. All they said was, sorry we are closed and we can't help you. No offer to help me put on a spare tire, or a spot to hang out in so I could call and wait for AAA. They also could have said, "we can't help you but there is a Mr. Tire across the way". Which Is ultimately where I landed. There was a moment that matter and they missed the boat. This post could have been completely different if they just expressed some empathy and guidance. read more

These guys were great!!! We had other shops try to charge us almost 650$ for our muffler alone then add on junk totaling 1100$!!! Dallas and his staff for us fixed and our emissions inspection an ALL PASS for WAY LESS!!!! He was able to repair what we had (seeing that it was a recently replaced exhaust anyway)!!! Now, I know this isn't the case for everyone, but I feel confident that they will do what they can to make the best choices for your car and your wallet!!! AND... to beat it all.... we gave them our car by 9am and it was finished before noon! They really saved us on more ways than I can count.... I myself am not a huge fan of auto repair shops. The reason you may ask... they try to gouge you. All the time. I needed my tailpipe fixed as a bracket had broken off from the tailpipe and left a small hole. I needed my emissions inspection so this was an issue. I took my vehicle to the Shell station near my house but that is another review all together. What matters is that I ended up here. My wife called while I was at work and explained the situation and what Shell was telling us to Dallas. He said bring it in and they would have it fixed up for a fraction of the cost. Sure enough, they welded everything and performed the emissions test and all is well for under $150 so I was a happy man (Shell wanted over $650). So, no trying to gouge me. It was a simple, what needs to be done. A few hours later a phone saying hey, you're good to go. No, hey, you need a transmission flush... or, you should consider new brakes all the way around so here's a quote... simply what I wanted done. Thank you Midas! read more
