Quote was way off. Charged $92 for a simple oil change. It took them 3 hours to change the oil and they werent busy. They didnt apologize at all and had a horrible attitude. I wont be going back because they dont deserve my business. Very slow and way too expensive. read more

Called a couple days ago and made an appointment for a safety check for this morning at 7am. Arrived at 655 and they went ahead and started. Walked across the street to pick up breakfast from Times Coffee Shop. By the time my order was done, so was my car. 20 minutes in and out. Will definitely be back next year. read more

I'd give a zero if I could. When I picked up my car, I had a terrible experience. First, the guy moving my car out of the garage didn't know how the key worked (not hard, just a push key rather than a traditional turn key). Then he clearly didn't know how to drive a manual transmission, which was fine, except there were at least three other techs standing around watching and laughing while he killed the car twice. As he tried to get the car out and maneuver around the ridiculously tight parking lot, he very nearly bumped both the front and rear ends. Again, his peers literally sat on their butts and laughed. Except the one who was busy accepting delivery of a 12-pack of Heineken from a car in the parking lot and taking it in to the garage. So when the guy trying to move my car finally makes eye contact with me, he makes some lame excuse about my car being "too nice for him to know how to drive". It's not a nice car, it's 7 years old and a pretty standard model. After all this, when I got in to drive away I discovered the radio blaring a channel I didn't leave it on, and most importantly there's a new warning light now lit up on my dash that I've never seen (a red exclamation mark). In short, this was the most unprofessional mechanic I've ever been to. I won't go back, and I will warn others from going. Terrible. read more

I needed to get my car inspected and so did my daughter's car, so I called around Kaneohe and Kailua. All the places in Kaneohe were busy and the ones in Kailua either didn't answer their phone or they couldn't do it until after the 5th of October. I called Midas and they answered and Ryan said they could do it on Oct. 1st. I made appointments for both cars. When we got there Eric the Safety inspection guy started on the car immediately. Total time at Midas for my car was less than 30 minutes. I have never had any place do such a fast and efficient inspection and be nice about it. My daughter's car had some things that needed to be taken care of, so Ryan told us to come back. We went back about 1 1/2 hours later and they took her right in. She was done in less than 30 minutes. Just wanted to give a big MAHALO to Ryan and EriC for their exceptional service. Will let everone know to go there if they want great service without the long wait. read more

These guys are freaking clueless AND they think they got it right tho. Let's see, I bring in my truck with an OBVIOUS exhaust leak. I thought it might be coming from the passenger side manifold OR perhaps a pipe gasket - about a 2-300 dollar job I expect. BUT, they "inspect" the exhaust leak and find nothing - THEY do recommend a new catalytic converter as a alternative that might fix the exhaust leak sound. I'm skeptical but I go for it. They literally fuc)( up the welds and I have to sit and watch them squirm to get it done. Literally when they pull my truck down, I can still hear the exhaust leak. So, I call one of the more mature looking mechanics over (Wes?) and I say, hey, you hear this exhaust leak? He says - yeah, sounds like exhaust manifold gasket! YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME. So I then take it to another guys - Wally Ho's (Aiea) and they go - hey, this catalytic converter is on crooked AND the weld on the top is leaking - so you have a bad exhaust leak on the NEW converter. JEEZ. So I decide NOT to go back to Midas - ever -. Oh, I went right across from Midas - place called Exhaust Systems Hawaii - Roland - and he fixes their messed up weld FOR FREE!! so GO TO ESH on Hamakua for any exhaust needs! read more

I've had awful luck with mechanics. Awful. I came to the island with low expectations. I hate to pull the feminism card but it's difficult to find a mechanic that won't write a woman off as stupid when it comes to cars. Midas has always been my go to shop out here. They fixed my crappy 2001 Jetta when the brakes decided to go, and has accommodated my 2009 tiguan of it's mishappenings. Which have been a few. I've actually paid a tow truck driver the extra $40 to bring it to a shop I trust further away when my car broke down, Midas, obviously. To be fair, most of the repairs I've gotten done have been under $200... if y'all are thinking I should probably invest in a car that isn't VW- you're probably right. But the point is, Midas has always made room in their schedule for me, have always been greeted at the door and can usually fix my problems at a somewhat decent price. AND I don't feel quite as dumb walking into a mechanic shop with ten thousand questions. Will be very sad to leave island next week and have to find either another Midas or another mediocre repair shop for all my vw problems. Mahalo! read more

Hello I agree with everyone else 100% that Midas is a ripoff TRYING to find something wrong with your car so they can charge you ridiculous prices. I think everyone should write to better business bureau like I am, there is no such thing as courtesy and customer SERVICE they should be boycott and go out of business to be taught a lesson. I took my car to Jiffy Lube nowadays you need to make an appointment at 99% of places. I understand the new State system and safety but it should be reasonable and consistent at "Official" Safety check places. Jiffy Lube showed me 1 tire that was worn, the other three were passing. They didn't stamp my paper failed as they said they would allow me time to get a tire. I got TWO new tires so they match and could not get a recent appointment so went to Midas for a more recent appointment as all my tires had lots of tread now. The female receptionist was rude no greeting just do you have an appointment, I said yes, Tech "Daniel" FOUND that my two front tires that passed Jiffy Lube has lots of tread but some "cracks" on sidewall so it failed, they stamped me fail so that I could not go anywhere else and offered to buy tires there. I went elsewhere bought two more so 4 brand new tires. Called the same day to come back and they said re inspection I had to make appointment, so I did. Came back and I watched Daniel walk around checking tires once, then again obviously the tires are good all 4 brand new but he still came and "interrogated" me. He asked you bough two new tires? I said you told me two tires were bad so I bought 4 new tires. He said oh that's why they all match and then passed me at the end no customary thank you have a nice day, just "Now you are legal". So he didn't care all my tires were good just where did I get the tires from (Not Midas). While I was there they failed a lady for 2 bad tires. Shas perplexed , I just bought two tires. The girl said the two you bought from us in June are ok but you need two more. I looked at they had adequate tread but you are at the whim of the "experts" Another lady came in for service and said I have a 1:00 appt. The girl said we have you down for next week 1:00, this 70 year old lady said no I came yesterday I know I made it for today, they said no you can leave it but it would be 2 hours. unreal those guys... went to get my fan belt replaced and they convince me to change all my belts. then they start squeaking again so i call and ask them simply how much it would be for them to tighten them again. the guy says its probably something else then the belts right away and starts telling me all kinds of crazy prices. i then tell him that they already did that to me and all i want is for them to tighten the belts. he immediately says "oh i wasnt there" and says "you probably going to call us back and complain again" f'n unreal that guy. so i say i just going to take um somewhere else then and he says "go, you probably should" hahaha. go to RNS auto on dump road, much more aloha and straight up work. i wouldnt waste my time writing a review but these guys are too much. i would give them ZERO stars if it was possible. called for a simple belt tightening and hung up with higher blood pressure cause they get more attitude then willingness to fix their own mess ups. read more
