Well... here's the follow-up review (I initially rated 5 stars on Google for the test drive and negotiation process) nobody wants to have to write. The paperwork/payment/ownership transfer portion took much longer than expected. I understand they were likely busy, so I tried to be patient. Hospitality-wise? Probably a 6/10. Not terrible, but once the purchase decision was made, things felt much more transactional. No beverages offered, no check-ins during the long wait -- not a huge deal, but small things matter when you're sitting there signing your financial future away. The paperwork itself was standard. No major complaints there. However, after everything was finalized and we were ready to drive off in our "new-to-us" certified preowned vehicle, we noticed a sizable dent in the driver-side C-pillar. In hindsight, I should have brought it up immediately, but at that point I felt like I had no leverage since everything was already signed and paid for. That part is on us for not catching it sooner. Still, after doing some research and speaking with people currently in the auto industry, certified preowned vehicles generally should not have cosmetic damage larger than about a quarter without disclosure or repair. I texted my salesperson the next day and didn't hear back (got a text 7 days later citing he was texting the wrong person). I eventually contacted management. Craig listened to my concerns, seemed genuine, and asked for photos of the damage. He mentioned an option to repair the dent and said he would follow up the next day. Unfortunately, I never heard back despite a follow-up email. Meanwhile, I was receiving automated texts asking me to leave a review, which honestly felt a little ironic. I replied to the text asking to be contacted via email but still have not heard anything to this date Then came another issue: the AC stopped working within the first week of ownership. I reported it immediately and was told to contact service. Fair enough -- but I live pretty far away, so being told to leave the car there all day meant missing work, rearranging schedules, and figuring out kid pickup logistics. Spending tens of thousands of dollars in cash only to immediately deal with these kinds of issues is frustrating. The AC issue has since been addressed, but while troubleshooting it, my husband discovered the cabin air filter was filthy and found a wad of napkins behind the glove box. Neither inspired confidence that the vehicle had truly been thoroughly inspected before earning certified preowned status. What made it more concerning was that the service advisor initially stated the cabin filter had already been replaced and documented in the system, only to later admit it had not been replaced and would be changed while repairing the blower motor causing the AC issue. That's really the core of my frustration. If obvious things like this were missed or inaccurately communicated, how am I supposed to feel confident everything else in the certified inspection was actually completed? At this point, I'm not expecting perfection. Cars have issues. But communication, accountability, and follow-through after the sale matter just as much as customer service before the sale. Right now, I'm still waiting for a resolution regarding the dent issue and hoping Honda Windward steps up to make this right. read more

Called Honda Windward to see what I needed to do. Guy was so pleasant and helpful. Took it in on the appointment day. They have a shuttle service to take customers home, so I caught that. A few hours later I got a call that my car was done, and the shuttle was on it's way. Got back to the dealership, picked up my car, and that was it. What was disappointing was the unwillingness to assist and rudeness of your receptionist Kuu. We feel she could have shown more willingness to let the customer finish speaking before she abruptly transfer the customer. I've called 3x hoping to get some help and each time and all she did was transfer my call, which went to voicemail. I scheduled an appointment with this dealership to see a specific car (white Mazda) with Claire. I was already on my way (it's a 30 min drive) when she called me about 5 minutes before the appointment to inform me that the car was not going to be available because a coworker had taken it for detailing, and that it would be about 30 minutes late. Shortly after, I received another call saying the car would not be available at all today. I was ready to buy the car today. Unfortunately, this is not an isolated experience for me with this dealership. In the past, my vehicle was serviced incorrectly here, which already left me disappointed. This most recent experience added to that frustration, as it felt disorganized and unprofessional, especially with the timing of the communication after I was already en route. I expect better communication and respect for customers' time when scheduling appointments. My salesperson Johnathan Shaughnessy provided me with outstanding service in the purchase of a 2026 Honda CR-V EX-L. However, be wary of the business office selling you a CNA National warranty policy to the tune of $3,454.45 (above and beyond what you're actually paying for the car; ergo an "add-on"), which, against my better judgment, I allowed myself to be persuaded to do. When I got home, I read all of the documents carefully and discovered it is actually secondary, not primary coverage. Because it is not something I believe I need, two days later when I took actual delivery of the vehicle, I initiated a request in writing to cancel the policy. Over two weeks have elapsed and I still have not received any acknowledgement of my request to cancel from the business office and am being told by the salesperson that I have to wait for the funds from CNA National to be returned to Honda Windward to secure a refund. Was able to schedule my ceramic coating two weeks after getting the vehicle. Service is temporarily located at the auto spa which is right down the road, 2 min drive away. I am so happy that this great Honda service center is on the Windward side! I am thoroughly happy with Kanoa as my service advisor. He always remembers to apply the service discounts and is consistently ready with my paperwork to go over with me on the day of my appointment. The female shuttle drivers have been friendly and are so on it to pick me up when my car is done. In fact, they were already at my door to pick me up when Kanoa called me to say my car was done. I certainly don't expect that, but I was pleasantly surprised that the timing worked out so well. I know people say that it's too expensive to have one's car serviced at the dealership, but I am so happy that there are regular service discounts at just the right time for me and a service staff including the cashier and parts department folks are happy to help me with a smile. Dalton, the Service Manager, has been with them for a long time, and it's easy to see why: he's simply the best. He's incredibly patient, communicates clearly, and genuinely cares about his customers. He always takes the time to make sure my dad fully understands what's needed before leaving. I recently came home to Hawai'i to visit my dad (I come every couple of months), and during this trip, we took his car in to have the A/C fixed. I had heard so much about "Dalton" over the years, and this time I finally got to meet him in person--and he lived up to every word of praise! There was like 6 or 7 people in there. Some girl walk by and she was yawning like she needed a nap. Another girl was searching on her computer and I was only a few feet away. The manager was in his office with two golden retriever dogs laid out on the floor. After that I went outside to the lot and looked around another 30 minutes with no help so I just got back in my car and left. I couldn't believe it. Should've listened to the 1 star reviews. This was the worst service experience I've ever had. tldr. Disorganized, unprofessional, and careless. Poor communication, pushy upselling, and lack of accountability. I regret trusting this place with my car. I brought my car in for a 7am appointment to fix the AC, only to get a call at 2:30pm from Doug saying they couldn't finish because it was a "crazy day." Apparently the AC tech was off the next day too, so I'd have to leave my car for a few days, completely defeats the purpose of scheduling an early appointment. When I called the front desk to ask about a loaner since they were keeping my car, the woman was rude and condescending and acted like she'd never heard that question before. I've never been to this location, so I didn't know their policy, but I was bluntly told they don't offer loaners, then immediately asked if I wanted to pay for a rental. After that interaction, why would I? Over the next few days, I received multiple calls from Doug and another employee pushing the same additional services. The only real update I got was that they couldn't diagnose a leak because "the guy doesn't want to spray the engine down and get oil in the stall." I was told to just "monitor it." Pickup was awful. The cashier was also rude and condescending when I asked a question about payment. The worst part was my car was returned with a steering wheel vibration that was way worse than when I brought it in. At most, it had minor vibration before but nothing like this. Doug showed me how bad it was, and when I told him it wasn't like that before, he brushed me off and told me to call if I wanted to "take care of it." So I came in with a minor issue and left with a much worse version of it, conveniently the same service they were trying to sell me on would fix this. read more

Update to the update: it's official, I'm no longer a Honda owner. Update: brought my CR-V (already owned) to get a safety check, which went great as always. While I was waiting, the sales associate talked with me about the price and let me know that they could work with me on a car they had in stock. It wasn't the color I wanted, but I heard them out. After running the numbers and bringing the markup down by about 2,000, I still had to pass because of two things. One, I didn't get a full breakdown, but the numbers still seemed higher than what they should have been, which leads me to two, lack of trust regarding the process, especially after having done this on at least three prior occasions and hearing the same pitch. Honestly, Honda Windward, and it seems all Honda dealers on island, are prioritizing short-term gain for long-term loss. As I said below, I've being driving Hondas for almost twenty years, and it's just sad to see how things are going now. **** I should preface this review by saying I have always been a Honda guy in a family of Toyotas. It's my grandfather's fault. I inherited his car and loved it. From then on, I've owned a number of models: Civic, Element, Fit, and CR-V. Unfortunately, my loyalty for Honda is coming to an end. The service department at Honda Windward has always been excellent (see my other review), but recently I inquired about purchasing a new CR-V. As another reviewer posted, if you want one in this market, you'll have to do the whole deposit route. I'm fine with that, but the nearly 4K mark up is honestly disrespectful to loyal customers. Yes, they are cheaper than Tony (6k mark up) and Pacific (even more), but right next door, there's no mark up to be seen. How do I know? I walked right over and put a deposit down and ordered a vehicle for LESS than MSRP. They will tell you the markup is baked in, but I haven't seen it yet and as both Hondas and Toyotas retain their value, I don't see any reason to pay more than what I should. I will say that the associate was excellent. He followed up, talked with me about my concerns, and offered me other options. At the end of the day, the mark up (most of it anyway) remained. 2.5 stars because I get it, but it's bad business and there's no excusing that. Thank you, Honda, for all of the years and memories. OMG! The express oil change is moved to the free car wash, but there was no instruction on where exactly. So I kept driving around and around the car wash place looking for a sign that never existed, getting lost for 15 minutes. It turned out that you have to drive to the back of the car wash against the one-way sign into a small parking lot in the back where you would've exited the free car wash. There's a small window with a bell on it, then you ring the bell and a service representative will help you. Don't get me wrong, they are very nice. But a map or better direction on how to get there would have been helpful! Remember you have to drive against the one-way out exit, and there is no sign telling you where the express service is. You just have to drive into the exit to find it. This is not the dealership so there is no soap or paper towel in the makeshift bathroom, but there is a small air-conditioned room you can sit and wait in. My advice: hold it in and don't use the bathroom. But the express oil change is really fast like half an hour, and they're nice. read more

Looking to buy a vehicle & not looking forward to the swimming w/ the sharks in the doo-doo water (aka local car dealerships). After doing some internet window shopping, I decided to actually engage with Windward Honda, which seems less sharky than the other two options. You know where this story is going... Windward Honda has a "feature" on their site referred to "Express Payment". Pick the car you're interested and get purchase price. You no boddah dem, they no boddah you. Sounds great! I picked the amazing Civic Type-R. They've had a couple others come and go, but this particular white one (w/ no spoiler?!) has been listed on their site for a couple weeks now. RED FLAG #1. I clicked "Express Payment" to see behind the curtain and get the inevitable dealer mark-up. Of course, had to input some personal info to find out. RED FLAG #2. $3500 Market Adjustment. RED FLAG #3 Too good to be true, but I wanted to see this through. Clicked to "Check on Availability" and continued through the "Express Payment" process until it finally took me to a page asking me to generate an express pass or some nonsense or schedule a test drive. RED FLAG #4 I stopped here. A couple of hours later, I get a txt from (insert name) and I've included those screenshots. Well, as expected, the "Express Payment" was complete bullsh!t. Markup is FIFTEEN THOUSAND and the out-the-door price is much closer to $60K. As much as I loathe Tony and Pacific Honda, at least they wear their greed on the outside. I wonder if Honda Corporate knows how much damage their dealerships are doing. My family used to be a Honda family. My first car was a Honda Civic. Now we all own Toyotas. Not because they're better cars (they're not), but Servco doesn't try to fleece their customers for any more than the MSPR already does.
