I have uses midas thus far for a tire rotation & to patch a tire. The staff is friendly, helpful, & efficient. The prices are so reasonable. The wait time was short. I will be using them in the future for my alfa romeo maintenance. BTW, the alfa dealership charges $330 for an oil change, but Midas is less than $100. The quality of work is exceptional. My son brought his Nissan frontier to get straight pipes done however they failed to hang it correctly fly which could've caused a fire. My son had to go to another place to get it fixed. He paid Midas $450 to get it done. It's scary to think my son could've been seriously injured. read more

After booking for several days for an oil change online, no one knows how to respond back as instruction tells the customer. Had to call the location in Homewood just to find out they closed for the two days and they were even too lazy to post it in their door in order to let people know that they were closed and sorry for the inconvenience after having to takeoff work in order to get something done. read more

I HAD to have my rear brakes done on my car. I needed a front wheel alignment !!! BAD! I called the gentleman here. Not only did they perform the services in a great and timely fashion, they came in $238 cheaper than EVERY other offer! I cannot recommend them enough. They are under new management. I've used Midas for several years (at least 3 vehicles). Most recently I needed breaks and rotors. They could get them but I opted to supply the parts. Sharing to hopefully help warn others PLEASE DO NOT GO TO THE MIDAS IN HOOVER! I am making this post to make everyone aware. I use to go their all the time with my car ( older model 90s car ) to get oil change I will be sharing this around as well. ( sorry for long post whole situation has been stress and frustrating ) Originally I use to go to the Midas in hoover all the time to get oil changes because I trusted them with my car and two other cars I had in the past.. well it all started a month ago when I desperately needed a oil change last minute and they were about to close so I had to go to walmart, Walmart showed me the oil drain plug and asked who did my oil change last and its always been Midas and they were like you need to take it back to them because they did something with your plug and we cant risk doing it. So I took it back to them that week had them look at it and saw as well and they said needed a new oil drain plug and apologized because whoever did the oil change didnt screw the plug right something like that okay cool and they went ahead and got me an oil filter as well. Waited for them to order the part and when they got the oil filter and plug they did it free of charge ( should have realized something was wrong then ) then turns out the plug was not the right size had to go back get a new one and I thought all was well. Month later ( currently ) went back for oil change and they tell me and turns out the threads that attached to the oil plug are gone and I need a new oil pan replacement and recommended changing the oil pan completely, I was confused and explained how last time they got me a new plug and filter and if the threads were bad why didnt the person who did my car feel for them because when put in a drain plug you can tell if it feels soft or tightens or keeps turning ( mechanic person i called ). The regional manager was there and I explained situation again and he said my ORIGINAL drain plug was in there.. they didnt replace it which I was more lost because the guy who GOT the new drain plug showed it to me and put in in when I got the oil filter replaced.. ( they did install me a new plug free of charge thankful for ) but I cant risk going back to them it was going $450 for all of it EVEN THOUGH its their mistake, here is the crazy part when I asked hey is this not in my history chart documentation of you guys doing the oil filter and giving me a plug free of charge they said they DID NOT.. Called family friend mechanic and luckily he can fix it and told me not to go back there and will update when find out more.. read more

I have been going to this Midas since I moved to Hoover. I experience some major issues with my converter and had it replaced in September 2023. The same problem happen in February 2024. I took it to the Chevrolet Dealership and they said that it was the converter and to take it back to the place withe my warranty. I have a year warranty with Midas for this part, and they refused to replace it and quoted me another $3,000. When the Dealership only charged me $1400. What a ripped off. I bought a 78 Trans Am a couple of weeks ago. I went to the dealership that services all of my vehicles and they said the car is nice but they refused to give me an oil change. I had passed the Midas Shop on the way so I went there. Upon arrival, the Manager, Chad greeted me. I told him I needed an oil change for me TA. They pulled in and showed me everything I needed for the car. The car needed brakes, a master cylinder, and tires. They were very cost effective on the tires. I needed some other items like the door handle and ignition switch changed. I had purchased the parts and was going to attempt the work myself but since the car was there I asked if they would do it which they did. I had a very good experience with these guys and will be back. I don't let just anyone work on my cars. These guys were great! My experience was awesome!!! read more

I was referred to Midas in Hoover by a very kind gentleman at Auto Zone who tried his best to help me but couldn't. My headlight was blown and I had to drive back to Tuscaloosa and it would be dark soon. The employees at Auto Zone are limited in how much they can assist. I was told to go to Midas and ask for BB and that BB would take care of me. That's exactly what happened. BB didn't hesitate when I told him what I needed. The guys that work here are so friendly, genuine, and honest. I brought my car in by cause I suspected a coolant leak. They did a free pressure test and detected no issues, just an old cap which they replaced. They also went ahead and did a whole courtesy inspection! I dont recommend this shop. I originally got Midas to do some brake work for my 2008 Silverado back in September. I got shoes put on my drums on the back, and I got pads and rotors on the front. They didn't replace the hardware on the front pads (basically did the work the cheapest way possible) so my brakes still squeaked. I took it back and got them to put the hardware on there while they tried to say not all brake pad kits come with hardware. BS. I picked it up on Jan 17 and parked it at my house because there was a part I needed to replace(sway bar end link). When I got home I ordered the parts and didn't drive my truck until the part came in on Jan 22. I drove it to my friends shop (who is a mechanic) and noticed it was driving really bad. The front end was wobbling horribly. When I took a sharp turn into the shop two lugs nuts fell out of the drivers side front wheel. The wheel was close to falling off. I could take off all the lugs on that wheel with my fingers. When I got it in the shop and jacked it up we noticed all the lug nuts on all the wheels were loose. The drivers side front wheel holes are hollowed out and ovaled from the wheel being so loose. It was wobbling on the studs on the hub assembly causing the studs to be worn down as well as having aluminum from my rim imbedded into the studs. When I took it back for the third time and brought it to their attention, they said there's no way I would've made it as far as I did and denied it, but they went ahead and replaced the hub assembly. My wheel is still hollowed out, and I will have to buy 4 new wheels since the ones I have now aren't made anymore. Midas said the wheel is fine, but I will include pictures. My wheel could have fallen off driving down the road. It would've probably totaled my truck and injured myself if not others too. I took a pre-molded muffler to them for installation. They only had to modify one hanger and tighten the clamps. Took them 30 minutes and they charged me $140. I later called two other muffler shops with the same scenario and got a lot cheaper price. they were pleasant the work was fine just too expensive. I was recommended to them by Express Oil Change off 280. I apparently had an exhaust leak on my work van, which was pretty loud by this time. These guys were very helpful and informative, contacting me before proceeding on the repair, and physically showing me the issues. Great rapport too. Once done, I don't think I've ever heard this van quieter, or maybe it's been awhile. Either way, they did a great job. Thank you all!! These people at Hoover Midas took me for a Catalytic Converter and ruin the exhaust manifold causing exhaust leaks, my pipe is missing a bracket and I had to replace my starter because, they did not put the heat shield back on melting the wires and damaging the solenoid costing me more money. This dragged out for 4 months having a catalytic converter put on for a second time and coming back rattling noises that got load and worse. The manager was fired later and I dealt with the general manager, Dewight, at the Homewood location who refused to give me a refund after I text him pictures and video of my catalytic converter problems. I called Midas Consumer Relations who were unprofessional and useless and could not help me get some kind of compensation. Avoid Midas stores in Birmingham. They will screw your car up and not compensate you. read more

Took my CRV for an inspection at my nearest Honda dealership. Learned I needed the outer tie rod ends done, among a couple of other things. So I shopped around for cheaper prices and came across Midas in Hoover, AL. Took my 2000 CRV to have the radiator and outer tie rod ends replaced/repaired and an alignment done on January 29, 2015. A week ago or so I noticed something was off with the ride of my vehicle. It would pull and had a slipping feel when turning and braking and just driving in general. It worsened and I felt I shouldn't be driving it. I started thinking I needed to take it back to Midas because something wasn't right with the steering and suspension (which they'd "repaired"). On February 23, 2015, I cranked the car up to leave work and the steering wheel loosened and turned far right on its own. Called AAA to have my baby towed. The AAA guy instantly diagnosed it and said the tie rod wasn't done right. The pin wasn't inserted in the tie rod end. We found the bolt that came off in the parking lot. All three AAA guys diagnosed the problem and confirmed about Midas improperly installing the outer tie rod ends. One even said that could be a lawsuit and Midas would eat the cost. Had I drove home, that could have been my life on the road. My baby was towed home on a flatbed and then towed straight to Midas the next morning on February 24, 2015. I was not confident in Midas working on my CRV again. Especially since they didn't do the job right the first time and it had to be done again. And on top of that, the same technician from the first time ended up working on my car this time around. They apologized and claimed the part was defective. I seriously doubt that. This was completely their fault. Point blank. And to top it all off, that same technician (initials TT, according to my invoice, I believe) that worked on my car both times and drove it out afterwards, stole $20 from my ashtray compartment. He reached down and picked something up off the floor and got out of my car while putting something in his pocket. We caught it before leaving and went back to confront the guy, a short white male that looked to be in his 30s maybe; thick southern drawl. They compensated my stolen possession...with the exact money he stole from my vehicle -- minutes before. We made a little scene about it. It's the principle of the matter. I usually take my stuff out of my car when having it worked on or having it in the care of someone else. But I failed to completely take all my significant possessions out...like my frikin' gas money left in the ashtray. Another technician informed us that that wasn't the first time something like that happened around there and that 'we didn't hear that from him'. So not only does Midas not properly repair parts on a car, they also search it and steal possessions. I'm not confident in the repairing of their wrongdoing. I'm wondering if something else might go wrong. I will be going to the home office about this. I will reach out to corporate about this. I will review the hell out of this Midas location. A situation like mine was potentially life-threatening and a definite lawsuit waiting to happen. They will not be getting my business. read more

Midas has been in this spot in Hoover for years. They are under new ownership and are really great to work with. My son and I went by to ask a question about a minor modification to his muffler. They were able to do the work for us (an hour before closing) and they took the time to show my son what they were going to do and how they were doing it just to educate him. Walked in to have my car inspected before I began a cross country trip. They apologized for not being able to take me immediately and asked if I could wait while some orders were cleared. I waited about an hour but was updated every step of the way. After a time I was told that my car was ready. I gulped and asked for the bill. Imagine MY surprise when I was told "NO CHARGE." WOW!!!! The helpful guy at the desk (and I'm so sorry I've lost his name. "Ray" perhaps??) explained that they didn't have to turn a screw or pickup a tool so no money was expected.
