I have been using Midas for years for all of my families vehicles. Today was the first time I have been completely disappointed and frustrated with the customer service at this location. Not only did they have my vehicle for over a day without evaluating it, but when I called to check on it they didn't even acknowledge an issue that I told them about when making the appt and I wrote it on the envelope that I put my key in. I told them I was going to take the care elsewhere and they didn't even care. I guess they have so much business they don't worry about losing a long time customer with three vehicles. read more

A little spendy for a break job, but the mechanics seemed to know thif stuff. they took me under the car and showed me what needed tog et done and what was probably going to be an issue in the fuure. No presure from the manager. I would go back for more work if needed. The signature break service is worth the price. read more

HELP I'VE BEEN ROBBED!!! COMPANIES THAT RIP US OFF Shared publicly - Yesterday 8:03 PM A friend took his Astro Van to Midas on Northern Lights Anchorage, Ak to have a fuel pump put in. He supplied fuel pump. Several Hrs later he was told that he had a bad fuel pump from ORielys Parts Store. He was also told he would be charged again if he wanted another one put in. I went to Midas on Northern Lights Anchorage AK and pulled his fuel tank.. Once I removed the pump the first thing I noticed -THE PUMP WASN'T PLUGGED IN!!! I hooked the pump up and reinstalled everything and the van runs fine. Midas on Northern Lights Anchorage Ak was closed so when he told them this today he was called a liar and we changed the pump!!! Also they would call the police. I say call them!! Pull the video Mr Manager you have on parking lot. Then we will charge you with robbery you Crooks!! Needless to say no refund on services no done right. Plus I was paid $150.00 for my time. Dividend time in Alaska is RIP YOU OFF TIME FOR SOME COMPANIES!!! Well i'm not done yet., Call me a liar? This place is horrible do not take your car there for anything. Besides outrageous prices, the quality of service is even worse. I paid for a 90k mile maintenance cost me about $1,000 told me I need some other more expensive work done, ie. new brakes, U-joints and struts ( I told them i would wait). About a month later I had another mechanic look at it and asked if I wanted the 90k maintenance done. I told him I had it done about a month ago. Then he showed me how dirty the fluids were, and explained that if they were actually changed you could tell by the drain plugs! Then the mechanic told me that he hears a lot of similar stories about all the Midas's in Anchorage. He quoted me a more reasonable price and gave me a slight discount for being military. My tires were wearing irregularly so I paid the $42 for a front end assessment. I watched my truck the entire time it was in and they never raised it as required to check the ball joints. They proposed $1,200 to replace a bunch of parts, most of which had been replaced 6 weeks ago and were subsequently checked out by another shop and declared fine. When I said something, the manager went back and checked the ball joints and bearings himself the proper way. My time, $42 and their reputation wasted. read more

Recently went in for a tire switch over, was told that my tires were bald and they were legally not allowed to put them on, but they'd sell me another set for a steal at 800 dollars... classic scam. I called up another tire place they got me in that day and looked at my tires and said they were good to go. read more

I love this shop! They never up-sale or over-charge me. They do quick efficient work, and this most recent time, they sent a detailed diagnostic report (with photos) through a link to my phone. Always impressed! And the remodel looks great! read more

I went to Midas on N. Lights unexpectedly at 5 pm (an hour before they closed) due to a thump, thump, thump noise my car was making. They were really busy, but Tyler at the front counter offered to drive with me around the block to hear the noise. We returned and he put my car on the lift. I didn't wait more than 5 minutes before he walked me over to my car (still on the lift) to show me the problem. Four of the 5 lug nuts on one of my tires were dangerously loose. He tightened them, checked the rest of the tires, and drove my car around the block again to ensure that the sound was gone. Problem solved! In total, my time there was about 20 minutes. Thank you so much to Tyler. He quickly found and fixed a problem that could have been disastrous if I had driven much further. I definitely recommend this Midas. read more

Maybe the worst, most incompetent business I've ever had to deal with. First time I to deal with them, they told me come on in it will be done in half an hour. Got there, half an hour went by and it was "Not too much longer, not too much longer". Finally after 3 hours of sitting there these dip ships who always seemed to have plenty of time to stand around behind the counter and yap and watch the tv that's in the waiting room finally told me my car was done. I swore I'd never bring it back there but Sears Auto Center right across the street was really busy and I figured I could leave it there all day, there's no way they couldn't get it done right? Well they certainly didn't think so. They thought they could have it back to me by four which is 2 hours before they close. So even if they couldn't get it done at four, there's no way they'd over estimate by 2 hours right? So after trying to do my best to be productive for 5 hours without my car, guess who calls me @ 3 and says "There's no way we're going to get to your car today, you might as well come and pick it up"? If you guessed the most incompetent auto shop with the worst customer service in the whole city of Anchorage (a.k.a. Midas), you guessed right! Obviously, i'll never be going back there. read more

The Midas on Old Seward seemed to do a good job with simple stuff like oil change, but ever time I come for oil change they find several things that I need done to my vehicle. At my last and final visit, they told me I needed a new air filter. I told my husband and he said no he just changed it a couple of weeks ago.I think they tried to pull a fast one because I was a female. After my oil change, I found my personal belongings in my basket and console shuffled around. I feel like they are not honest people. read more

After scheduling an appointment and showing up on time to a crowded lobby, I patiently waited as everyone filtered in and out. Two hours later I finally received the update that they didn't have the right piece for car. A bit of information that would have been useful at the very beginning of my visit. I left a half hour later with nothing but a quote doubling the price they had originally told me. I will never return to Midas after this visit, and wouldn't recommend anyone else going. Was nervous about going to a Chain Store for mechanical work; but was pointed to the folks at Midas on Old Seward from a friend who recently had a great experience there. I checked a few other shops then went into Midas. I needed a major overhaul of the engine and found the quote was reasonable. I was especially pleased by the shop manager who was able to explain to me what the mechanics were saying and what my options were. In the end the quote was spot on and they were able to provide stellar customer support through the whole process. If they can do this major work as they did, and impress, I will not hesitate to use them for all of my regular and routine maintenance in the future. I've had my old suv (2004 X3) and my husband's pickup truck ('03 Dodge) serviced by Midas in the past 10 years. From oil changes, spark plugs, to brakes-- they've done a good job. I am mostly impressed with their customer service, the mechanics are very helpful and polite. My suv, which I've passed on to my daughter, has over 120k miles and it's still running great!
