wanted to update my review for Warren & Sons. this update should've been written a week following the first review. First, I want to say that my issue with my lights has now been properly handled and everything is working great. I truly appreciate that. Initially, I didn't have the best experience with one of the older staff members, as I felt dismissed when trying to explain my concerns. However, things completely turned around when I spoke with another associate at the front (a very kind and professional woman). When I asked if I could speak directly with a mechanic, she immediately went to get someone for me. She brought her husband, who I later learned is the son of the owner. From the moment he approached me, I could tell he genuinely cared. He listened, understood what I was trying to explain, and handled everything professionally and respectfully. He worked on my vehicle, fixed the issue, and took the time to explain what was going on. He also helped identify another concern with my horn and let me know we could schedule that repair. What really stood out is that after he worked on my vehicle, the issue completely stopped for a while, which shows he took the time to really look into it. Now that it's starting to come back with the change in season, I'll be returning to have it fully taken care of. Because of this experience, I've changed my rating. Warren & Sons deserves a 5 star review. One negative interaction shouldn't define a business, what matters is how they handle it, and they made it right. If you go here, I highly recommend asking for Rick (the owner's son) or speaking with the kind woman at the front desk, they truly care about their customers. I've been doing to the same tire place for ten years. And today I decided to give someone else (closer to my house) a try. What a horrible decision. Pros: When I called in the morning they were able to get me in same day for a tire changeover Cons: Everything else. When you arrive it's unclear where you go to drop your car off. I wasn't sure if I line up at one of the garages or park and go inside. The parking lot was completely filled. So I took the first option. I was quoted one hour, and said I was going to get picked up to grab lunch, they said no problem we will call when the car is done. 4 hours passed, I called to see if the car was done. Thankfully. When I got in my car to leave one of the tire sensors was flashing telling me I had a flat tire. Which obviously I didn't. I went back inside and asked for my sensor to be reset. The guy at the desk was extremely rude and told me if my sensor wasn't working then it wasn't working when I brought it in. I was kind in letting him no I brought my car in with no issues other than the studs needing to be changed out for the season. He had someone grab my keys and reset the sensor for me. I didn't go back inside just grabbed my car and left. I am 99.8% sure a pair of sunglasses I left in the center console were swiped. I wasn't 100% sure so I didn't say anything but I'm very confident in that. Lastly. The price. I've been paying $70-90 for tire changeovers. This was $120! To sum it up - I don't recommend this place and will never be coming back. read more

I went in for a general checkup, oil change and fluid check and fill. The fills were sloppy and left puddles under my front end. I knew that some weren't leaks and that the mess needed to be cleaned up. I took it back for them to do that. There was still one leak that looked like oil. Third time took it in and it turned out to be a bad strut. Why wasn't it leaking before I took my car in to be serviced? Why wasn't the leak noticed during the check up? Struts can have minor leakage but when it leaks all the way down to the ground, you need a new one. I want to feel like I got excellent service when I take my car in for a checkup and fluid refills/changes. I think I might try somewhere else when I need my car checked over. The reviews are either really bad or really good. Roll of the dice to take it there. read more

How would YOU feel? Yes, how would you feel after taking in YOUR vehicle in for a repair because dash warning lights indicate that something in your vehicle is not working correctly, only to find that the exact same dash warning lights appear on your scan tool AFTER your rig has been "repaired"? How would YOU feel, after initially discussing the potential issues and getting quoted an approximate 'high' repair cost of 700 bucks, but in the end having to shell out 1300 bucks. That cost change by itself 'might be' absorbable IF the repairs are done correctly. Yet right from the get go i.e. after picking up the "repaired" vehicle, one of the dash warning lights remained on and never disappeared. Then, while driving out of town and less than 50 miles after "repairs" had been done, the rest of the very warning lights for which it went to the shop came on again and won't go away. So, would YOU be a happy client, after initially hearing that the discussed issues would be fixed on the same morning, then learning by 2PM that the vehicle is still on the rack, and still on the rack the next morning? My experience was that none of what was alluded to, like cost or time to get things done, turned out to be fact. Do I sound like a happy customer? Well then, give this shop a try. read more

I went I to this place for an oil change. After driving half way across Alaska I noticed my car smoking. Upon further I section, the man working g on my car forgot to put back on the oil cap of all things!! Very unprofessional al and I had to come out the pocket $40 to replace it which cost more than the oil change itself! Extremely disappointed. Then I call him up and refuses to return my calls. I have every right mind to file a small claims on Him and his business and make his credit score suffer for this outrage!!​​ read more

I just wanted to say how fantastic of a job these individuals did on my vehicle. I had just came off a 12.5 hour shift and a part had snapped inside my steering column which would not allow it to start. No big deal right? Well my vehicle is a 95 Jeep Wrangler, and those parts don't exactly grow on trees. They not only tracked down the parts needed (which had to be shipped in from Seattle), but also fixed a problem with my exhaust (I was going to get around to). Considering the difficulty they probably had and me nagging them like a displeased wife for updates, they had it fixed by the end of the weekend so I could make sure I got back to work. Ten out of ten, five stars, absolute praise like no other, I will look to Moore and Sons for mechanical work to be done. read more

Quote was $400 but might need a new belt...then needs a new belt too, then needs new tensioner since existing one is old... collected all parts, belt was new from last year and no damages on tensioner... look out for these guys, it will cost you more and more, $640. read more

Jeff and Mrs. Moore were at the front desk and they had my tires fixed in less than an hour and the cost was so shockingly low that I did a double take. I started taking my vehicle to Moore & Sons when I first moved to Alaska because the business I worked for at the time took the fleet vehicles there. I have never been disappointed with the service. They are always quick, polite, and reasonably priced. When I needed some body work done that they couldn't do there, they referred me to a great shop. It is unfortunate that the previous reviewer had such a poor experience, because I have never heard anyone else give Moore & Sons a bad review. read more

Took my Jeep here to have a mail taken out of the tire, to diagnose a check engine light, and get an oil change. They changed the oil and addressed the tire, fixed the check engine, but said a rattle I have under acceleration was for to a catalytic converter going out. They ordered the new converter (Supposedly) and I ended up having to pick up the vehicle while I waited for the part to come in. I picked it up after hours and the moment I drove off the lot, dummy light lite up like crazy and it was sluggish to respond. I called and called and they said just bring it back when the parts came in. This was in April.... Months for by and I finally bring it in and they say an ABS sensory was bad and ground up in my wheel assembly... I've NEVER had this issue. But, I pay for the $300+ for them to fix it. When I pick it up, I notice a burning smell and assume it's new parts breaking in and mean to mention it when the converter comes in. I called weekly for a while, still no parts. And now it's August. There are three other shops in town who can get the parts immediately. Now, tonight, the same dummy lights coming on. Every time I bring them my vehicle it is broken more than when I dropped it off and all I get is lip service and a bill for more charges when I complain. This may be the worst automotive repair experience I have ever had. Will never recommend them to anyone, ever. read more

He said he called and left a message but I never got a message and called back literally 10 minutes after and they said my car was ready. Do not go here. I just had the BEST experience with Moore & Sons. I had a bulb that was out, it's one that you need some sort of expertise or at a minimum a special tool to change. I called up the nearest dealership who quoted me $120 and of course, I balked. Then I called up the closest locally owned shop to my office. The phone quote was $20-$40 (WHOOPEE!) Though I will confess I was anticipating a lot more when I got in there. They got me in STRAIGHT away, told me less than an hour, so I waited. It took 20 minutes flat. The fee was better than I expected. I am ONE seriously happy camper and promise to refer and use them whenever I need their service! read more

Review for Moore & Sons I had a very horrible experience with Moore and Sons. They lied to me multiple times. They made my car worse than the first time I brought my car there. Now, my car is breaking down. I'm hearing more weird sound, feeling more vibration on the gas and brake pedals like it was going to die again in the middle of the road. I brought my car to Moore and Sons for the FIRST TIME because I was hearing a noise on the driver side. The guy said, it was one of the belts that was making the noise and he changed that belt (cost me almost $200). My husband asked them to check everything because I want it to be ready for winter and make sure the car is in great condition. The guy said, "don't have to worry about that, your car is fine". After I got my car back, I called them because I am still hearing the same noise. Few days later my car just died in the middle of the road. My car just suddenly stopped working after just a few days from this shop. I had to tow my car to Moore and Sons (cost about almost $100). The SECOND TIME my car in the shop--this time he said the alternator was broken and they changed that too (cost about $600). I got my car back again after the second time in the shop and I called them again because I was still hearing the same frkn noise. The guy said to bring my car back to the shop again for the THIRD TIME. He said it was one of the axles that making the noise, so he changed that axle (costs about $325). For the FOURTH TIME, I called them again and said I am hearing the same noise and it's getting worse. He then promised to get to the bottom of this to fix the problem. Guess what! He LIED he never fixed it. I am driving this car with more noises than the first time I brought my car to this shop. The problem is even getting worse, and I spent a lot of money trying to fix this car that does not have much value. My car is old and worth about $2,500 and they ripped me half of that amount. The lied to me multiple times. THIS CAR SHOP RIPPED ME OFF! WITH THE PROBLEM REMAIN UNFIXED! read more

My dad and I are traveling to Fairbanks today, we filled our tires before we left but our drivers rear was slowly leaking. We put air in at Girdwood (we are in Seward), but decided to stop at Moore & Sons automotive to see if our tire can get fixed. They were amazing! Took us right in, we couldn't get out of the car fast enough, they allowed our dog as we waited in the lobby, and got us back running in only 22 minutes! We're very happy and are back on the road again. read more

I will NEVER use this company again. I had my oil changed here. They advertise they check your fluid, and lube with the oil fee. On my way in the door, my car was out front, so I bent down and looked at the lube fittings they would have to use to lube the front end, they were still completely caked with grime. They were untouched, and NO ATTEMPT was made to lube the front end. When I was at the front counter about to pay, I asked if they lubed the front end with the oil change and the front counter guy, same guy that's always there, possibly an owner, swore up and down that it was lubed. Even went so far to say he watched it get lubed. It simply wasn't possible they lubed it, because grease won't go through caked on grime. The main point Is, this guy lied to my face, and my perception of the situation was that it came so easy to him to lie to me, it was obvious that was his normal schtick, lie and deny, deny, deny. If you want to be lied to your face and pay money for it, go to Moore and Sons Automotive. They get one star because I can't give zero. read more

Don't believe all of these positive reviews. Their service writer LIED to me about even calling my extended warranty provider, then gave me a ration of shit because I called him on it. Not only were the things he said would not be covered, in fact covered, but after that he up sold services that did not need to be done, spark plugs that were just 6 months old, i was told were shot, and when returned to me were still in PRISTINE condition. He pulled the plugs on my 3v ford engine with out permission hoping to break a few, then ran a compression test, after finding coolant in a spark plug cylinder. Dudes A grade A conman and asshole. I wish I could give this business zero stars. Let's get started. After a recommendation from a friend, I tried out Moore and Sons to service my small 2001 Dodge Dakota. Complete chaos followed. I sent in my truck to have them check everything out and fix everything that they could, as well as switch over my tires from winter to summer. - They serviced my rear differential. They billed me for taking it apart, completely cleaning it out, resealing it, refilling it with diffy fluid and a special additive that allows for it to be easier for your tires to turn at different speeds for when you go around corners. - This was not true. About two weeks later (while newly moved to Fairbanks, so couldn't take it back to them) I started hearing a weird grumbling noise from the back of my truck. Had multiple mechanics ride in it to try and figure out what could be the cause. It was definitely coming from my rear end and the general consensus was that the additive was accidentally not placed in with the differential fluid when everything was put back together. Okay, fine. People make mistakes. I get under the truck to put the additive in and notice that the fluid that is in my differential is a dark sickly brown color - which should not be the case if they actually took apart my differential. I will assume they put in new fluid, which means that all they did was suck out the original fluid through the small hole with a suction chord. A clump of old differential fluid probably was not sucked up and therefore the new fluid is getting darker sooner than realistic because of the dirtiness still left in the casing. So thanks, M&Ss, for charging me for an expert service that was not even completed. The worst part is that by the time this was discovered, my BRAND NEW SUMMER TIRES had been ruined in the back, due to the tires keeping constant speeds around turns. My back tires were down to almost no tread in such a small amount of time.. - Serviced my front differential. Seems fine, but now my 4x4 makes an awful grinding noise that it did not make last summer. In respect of not knowing, I'm not going to blame M&Ss. - However, they replaced all my fluids BUT FORGOT TO PUT IN STEERING FLUID. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? - Last, most retched thing.. They switched over my tires from winter to summer. I bought brand new sets of both summer and winter tires in fall of 2011. So the winter tires they took off had only just seen one season. Well, I went to a different auto shop to have my tires changed from summer to winter this fall, and got shocking news. The winter tires that I brought in (still wrapped in the bright blue M&Ss tire bags) were terrible, and the shop could not put them back on my truck in good conscious. Beads were broken and the tread was also hardly there to speak of. Also, the manufacturer stamp on them said they were made in 1997... I can only deduce that MOORE AND SONS GAVE ME THE WRONG WINTER TIRES BACK. ARE YOU KIDDING ME. WHAT THE H*LL KIND OF UNPROFESSIONAL SH*T IS THAT!? I called them to speak about it. I knew that none of the above could be proven because of how much time had passed. I spoke calmly and just stated what I knew as facts. I didn't try to impose blame. I was then told that 'I wouldn't have charged you if I didn't do it.. so I don't believe you. There's nothing I can do for you. I don't know what to tell you." Thank you Moore and Sons. It's always a tricky game trying to find a great mechanic. You have now permanently narrowed down my search. I will never recommend this business and will always warn against becoming a patron. read more

I recently was recommended to this shop by an RV Center to solve a problem with my blower/vent electrical system. The blower motor would not operate when the dash switch was turned on. Moore and Sons said they'd fix it fairly quickly. Made an appointment, and dropped it off. After several call to check on status, they finally repaired it 6 days later. It was simply a bad ground wire. $398 repair bill...okay, I get that shop time is costly. Took a little longer than expected, and cost more than expected -- no biggie, as I can live with that. What I was REALLY upset about was the fact that when I got home I realized my rear ladder to the RV roof was crushed in two places -- it was fine when I dropped it off. Talked to Jim about it and he said he'd "look into it" and call me the next day. Never called me back, and when I checked a week later, he claimed it wasn't their techs that could have damaged the ladder. In summary, I'm out about $400 for the "ground wire" repair, and another $300 plus labor to replace my RV ladder. Expensive lesson. read more

Bunch of crooks. Told them to do a general tune-up and check out some systems - NOT TO REPLACE ANYTHING, but to call first. They replaced everything they could get their grubby hands on without contacting us whatsoever. Ended up being charged over $2000 for what should have been a $400 checkup. Tried to talk it out with them but they couldn't have cared less; their only concern was shoving me out the door. Incompent, dishonest, and money hungry. Avoid this shop at all costs. read more
