we are visiting Alaska from Colorado and needed to have our brake pads changed because a different shop told us they'd need to be changed soon. we are traveling in our 2013 Tundra with two large dogs so we were very nervous about being without our house on wheels for the night. we dropped the truck off at 1:30 and got called back at 3:30. Jeremy told us that wasn't the case and showed us how good the brake pads were still and explained where the noise we had heard was coming from. He said we didn't need the work done, so we decided to get the oil changed! He was so helpful, kind, and knowledgeable. We are so lucky to have stumbled on to this place. Honest and so friendly. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! THEY RUINED OUR CAR! They purposefully went and destroyed our van along with messing with items in the car without permission (eg: our back hatch). Now the car is unable to work and will be $11,000 for a new engine or $500 to sell. This is unacceptable and atrocious work! Another issue that happened with them was my other car was brought in to fix my heat and they didn't fix the fuel pump, which led to all my gas leaking out. Under no circumstances should you go here. They will purposefully ruin your cars. read more

Absolutely unhear of awful. My good friend had her tires rotated and 300 miles later the wheel fell off! They told her it was because she didn't have her wheels retorqued. How stupid. I helped her write a letter for a refund (just $138 for a new used wheel) and they didn't even reply. In the letter we stated that if retightening wheel was really necessary to prevent wheels from falling off, there would be thousands of wheels all along the Glenn Highway! $138??? Really??? She could have been killed!!! Come on... Own up to it. The mechanic didn't tighten the lug nuts properly! That is the ONLY explanation! read more

I went to Eagle River Automotive to get a hole my tire plugged. Service was super fast and easy. Cheap as well, only $20! They also were the only place able to get me in right away. read more

Multiple repairs needed, and oil change . Great service and wonderful customer service.

I've always had the greatest service from the staff there. They do honest work and always generate a list of items which could need attention and they list the most critical items first. They have Never done work on any of my vehicles that I had not approved ahead of time. read more

These guys are scammers. Weird to be a mechanic and not know how to fix cars. They like to charge crazy prices and leave your vehicle in worse condition read more

Customer Service: They come off rude, unfriendly and unpleasant. Cost: Diagnostic fee: $170.00 dollars (Free at Auto Zone!) You would think for the hour you pay for which is what I was told why it cost this much that it would be more than a code reading. (WRONG) Most auto shops will wave this fee if you decided to get the repair with them you don't pay this fee but not here. Cost: Coolant Flush: $430.00 dollars Every place in town will do this service for half the price trust me I asked. Here even the price of coolant itself is higher and I don't understand why. Service: My car was "repaired" after driving my car 22 miles to work the issue came back. Like ERA posted... the code was read and they did in fact change out the thermostat reader BUT test driving the car further than around the corner or doing a visual inspection would have shown that my radiator was blown. They did tell me this was not covered in the diagnostic fee. I mean you would think they would do a once over, how did they miss this doing a COOLANT FLUSH?!? This service is unprofessional but the rates say otherwise. Advice: Go to Frontier Auto or the old QWIK lube! Frontier auto is cheaper and the old mechanic is super honest and will pro rate his hourly fee. The old Quik Lube is under new management and they are awesome and will give you video of where they damage is! read more

The female "Maria"we spoke to over the phone told my husband that she was too busy to look up to see if they had a certain vehicle battery in stock!!! So, here we are, an older couple needing a battery for our truck here in Eagle River and BTW, this truck is our ONLY mode of transportation but she's too busy to help us!!! read more

I dropped off my truck on a Sunday and pre-authorized up to $250 for ER Automotive to replace a broken dipstick tube. YouTube shows this repair taking 1 min, 4 seconds with a 5-minute reinstallation. Since I didn't want to wait or buy a one-time-use extraction tool, I went to ER Automotive, who had plenty of openings. I called for an update Monday evening, when I hadn't heard from them and learned they needed to order the replacement tube ($79 online; they charged $111). I paid for express shipping (unauthorized), only to learn they didn't have the extraction tool, so I was left to wait and wonder why I paid for express shipping. Over a week later (the following Monday evening), I got a text saying the bill was $460, even though I only preauthorized $250 and wasn't notified about - or authorized - additional charges. I was told it took the mechanic 4 hours to remove the broken tube (can you imagine trying to remove a 3/8" diameter tube for four solid hours?), and they weren't going to charge me for two of those hours. Again, YouTube shows this to be less than a 10-minute job. I believe in giving credit where it's due and on rare occasion, giving an honest review to let others know about poor service. I won't be back, but in fairness, they applied a $30 online coupon to help bridge the gap between what I authorized and what they unexpectedly charged. If this is the kind of service you're looking for, then ER Automotive is the right place for you! read more

We had a last minute tire repair, called Eagle River Automotive and they told us to bring the car in and they could plug the tire for us. We sat in the lobby and played with their two precious dogs, and sat only for a few minutes while they plugged the tire. Excellent and quick service for a good price. Will come back here immediately for any future tire problems. read more

Terrible service. Easy as that. $140 later (after a month..) no improvement and paid for a "diagnostic" and then they didn't do any work. Used to be a great place. read more

I understand automotive repairs can be costly. Craftsmanship is completely different. I didn't mind the bill for a new clutch. To remove and replace the clutch in a 2008 Hyundai the total cost was $1897.66 this was for parts and labor. I did not appreciate the fact that after the repairs I had to have an alignment performed on the vehicle and there was damage caused by the clutch replacement. I will never bring my vehicle to Eagle River Automotive after this horrible experience. read more

Eagle River Automotive - Auto Repair Near Me - Eagle River, Alaska

Update: But Franco never sent me a letter. He sent me an email. I requested a letter, but that request was ignored, naturally. A couple of issues remain: first, my car was inspected so thoroughly the first time that every single problem it had was identified, not just those that concerned me. The technicians found things left and right. NOTHING mentioned about the power steering rack, because it was not damaged at the time. If it got damaged by Eagle River Automotive later, that's another story. Another issue: I was told by a manager, Toddi, these exact words: "If we had thought there was any fire hazard, we certainly would have told you". In other words, this is something you're saying after the fact, in retrospect, to justify not having the courtesy to refund this money. My car burned down a few days after I pocked it up from your shop. I'm not asking you to admit any fault, just for a refund. All veterans and active military the area take notice, and please do not do business with this establishment. I will appreciate your solidarity on this. Plus you'll save yourself and your car some trouble. read more

I took my car to eagle river auto I told them that my Kia was stalling all the time and they needed to hear it run when it had been running for a while that's when it stalls going slow .. I told them I'm a Uber driver so I would need my car in a reasonable time . So a few days later they call me and says the mechanic knows knows what's wrong with it I have no reason questioned him because I thought that he had driven my car like I asked him to so when I got my car back and $1300 later the car ran the same way nothing has changed I called them up and told him that and they wanted me to bring it back so they could go through the engine more. but what they didn't offer was a refund read more

I changed tires there, and I liked the fact that I could just wait in the lobby and get my car back, instead of leaving it there for a day and having to arrange the drive back and forth. The price was fair too. read more

DON'T GO HERE! Owner is 100% a scam artist. We not only received the worst service here but when we took our vehicle in for a simple fix, we were then told about a bunch of other things that were going wrong. My husband said no thanks, not today and we took our car out immediately before they could start messing with it or causing any corruption. We took our car else where, for a second opinion and nothing the guy said was true. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. read more

Takes summer tires off in Winter, doesn't ever bother to say the tires do not have enough tread for the next season.

Probably won't go back here again. Work was done quickly but they insisted as part of a standard tire rotation that a $30.00 TPMS "relearning" procedure was necessary. The person at the front desk kept speaking vaguely of "error codes" but was unable to provide any specific details. I've had the car for twelve years and this has never been necessary. I also checked the Acura service manuals and Hondas/Acura don't require any "relearning". ***UPDATE*** The shop just called and they've also come to the same conclusion/understanding regarding the TPMS. I give them credit for recognizing the error and wanted to provide this update. Thanks! read more

Horrible Horrible Horrible. Overpriced. They don't get the job done correctly the first time. I took my car there to get worked on and they offer a pick up service that I thought was great. The lady drove my car to me after they fixed the brakes. She drove the car with the e-brake on 5 miles to my house. The smell coming from my car was horrible. Mistakenly I took my car to them a second time because the engine light was on. They did a motor vac but didn't complete the diagnositic check (admitted by them). The motor vac was completly not necessary and did not solve the problem. After taking my car to another shop, the problem was solved much cheaper. read more

I will never recommend anyone this place to ever again. If you have a European brand of car please save yourself the money and time. I have a 2007 Audi Q7 that needed the cam shaft oil control valve replaced and they willing accepted the job and agreed to do a basic tune up with new ignition coils and plugs. I dropped the car off on April 10th and here we are two weeks later and I'm having to pay $1,400 for labor and maintenance and they didn't even fix the issue! They supposedly tried "researching" the code that was giving them problems for days... aren't you ASE certified master technicians? They told me that the tech that was working on it hasn't been coming in because his back was hurt and that's why it's taking so long. They are now referring me to Audi after they kept my vehicle way to long and didn't even fix the dang car. Ridiculous!!! read more

This was by far the worst service. turned my car in for transmission not shifting correctly spent 500. Drove it off the lot problem was not fixed. Took it back two days later waited a week to hear anything they told me it was this other problem spent 600 after two weeks on a leak and now there saying by transmission needs to be replaced. They knew this could have been the problem but wanted me to spend an extra money fixing things that wouldn't resolve the problem. Car came back in worse mechanical condition then when it went in. read more

I have been coming since 2019 to get my car needs done such oil change and recently a tire rotation. They are always nice and willing to answer questions I have about my car and pricing. Very Disappointed. I was having an overheating issue with my car and needed it fixed so I looked around and found a local shop by the name of Eagle River Automotive. Here is my experience with their team. When I brought in my car a (2015 Hyundai Elantra Gt) they said they would look at it for the military rate of $108 which I greatly appreciated and they did. after a hour of diagnostics they determined the fan was not turning on when it needed to causing it to overheat and said they would need additional time of diagnostics to perform tests on the fan and electrical system to find the problem. I gave them the go ahead and a couple days pass with no info or communication from their team. After me calling they said that they could not fix it because it was a "computer problem" and they did not have the proper tools to fix it and also that I could come pick up the car and it was done. This is where things get weird. I arrived there and walked and the office and was instantly on edge because of all the dogs barking and being unfriendly. After paying for the services I went out to my car to drive it home and it was entirely dead. note*** this is a brand new battery purchased 2 months prior. I told them my car was dead and so the front desk grabbed the mechanic. We then received new information that they had to "fully drain the battery" in order to check the electrical system. I don't know why they were unable to unplug it but either way I should not have been told to pick up my car if the car wouldn't start. Once they plugged in the jump box and had me turn on the car there was a check engine light on the dash that had not been there prior. The mechanic assured me that it was just a low voltage code from the battery being drained which would make sense. It wasn't. It was a new code "Engine temp high circuit" and the mechanic had no idea what it was or how it had got there. He told me that we should take it to the dealer as soon as possible and that was the end of our experience with the team. Another thing I would like to add is that through diagnostics at eagle river automotive they did not put any protective liners on the inside of my car so the interior was very dusty/greasy and that was not how it arrived. So overall I paid $108 dollars for them to drain my battery, give me a new check engine light, dirty up my car and their only advice was to have taken it to a dealer. read more

I would never recommend this place, I took my truck in because it wouldn't start and I couldn't seem to find the problem. They then insisted on charging me extra because they had to lay on there back to fix it because it didn't fit on the lift and tried to charge me for the difficulty of moving the truck after it set over night where they told the tow truck to drop it and it wouldn't start. After all that they decided to put a petty response on the receipt that just proves their unprofessionalism I attached an image of the receipt read more
