This is my first review ever, and I'm sad to say how impressed I am at how disappointing this company is. I ultimately ended up paying a little over 2,500$ for a 220$ service. I went in for a simple alignment for my vehicle. It has a 2.5" lift and the steering was off about 3 inches to the left too far. I ended up leaving my vehicle there for a total of 8 days and had to pick it up and drop it off 3 different times because the vehicle came back COMPLETELY UNCHANGED!! The alignment was not done for the entirety of the time. On the 3rd time I spoke with the manager and explained how I was a bit upset over the fact I paid 220$ for an alignment that wasn't getting fixed, he happily said he would install a "leveling kit" for free of charge and fix the problem entirely. I was happy and couldn't care less about the time I had spent picking up and returning my truck because it seemed as though he cared and that he wanted to fix the problem. Well, hard to believe he actually did anything considering my trucks steering became worse and he showed/explained nothing about what he had done to the truck leaving me clueless as to what he "fixed". I looked underneath and saw where you're supposed to adjust the alignment and saw how mangled the rods were... not sure if it they used a hammer or decided on using a 9MM side arm to adjust the alignment.... I was left disgusted with the damages. On top of the service I paid for and only was provided with a worsened vehicle, they left the inside of my vehicle unlocked in the middle of the parking lot... my 1,800$ subwoofer set up was missing, some SnapOn tools from my job, some winter jackets, and the small amount of cash I stashed for emergencies was all missing. Immediately after finding this out, I called them asking for camera footage. I MADE IT CLEAR I WANTED NOTHING FOR COMPENSATION AND EVEN LEFT ON GOOD TERMS. But I guess giving me camera footage was too much to spare. They never called me back and have shown their carelessness through their lack of communication and willingness to work with me to find out who stole from my truck. Please do not give your money to these people and entrust your vehicle with them. Some of the workers there are wonderful, but it seems as though the management is the A team for absolute degenerates. read more

I've been a loyal customer at Midas for over 15 years. I've been to other mechanic and tire shops around Anchorage and the valley but in my experiences Eagle River Midas is unparalleled. Each time, I choose Midas whether it's mounting oversized tires on my F250 or X5M, or getting quality work done on my 1975 classic VW, with fair pricing. Midas is a name I trust in the industry. I have always been treated like family. Eagle River Midas exemplified what customer service and interaction should be on my most recent visit. The store manager treated my needs appropriately and professionally. To be honest it's the best customer service I've had in a long time even better than the Palmer Midas and they too treated me like close family. The lobby, the store and the bays are clean and the working staff is friendly which is crazy because of the amount of work needed being accomplished there. The mechanics are working long hard hours with back breaking work, they all deserve to be given recognition for what they do for our community. I personally appreciate them and the management that keeps their motivation up when the seasons change and the work load increases dramatically. Drove from Texas to Alaska, dropped my truck off shortly after arriving to get my oil changed and an aliment. Didn't check their work when I picked it up, but after a couple months I went to put washer fluid in my truck and the oil fill cap was sitting on my battery. Zero quality assurance practiced at this location and I wouldn't go back. read more

I have been a loyal customer of Midas, Eagle River for 10+ years. I made an appointment for an oil change for Friday, May 2nd at 11 am. When I got there, I was told that they couldn't find me in their system and told me that I never made the appointment (I have proof that I did but they didn't want to see it). They told me to come back Monday morning between 8 to 8:30. I arrived there a little before 8 AM and was told that there were 15 cars ahead of me and that they couldn't get me in, although I had an appointment. They told me to come back on Friday May 9th (today) at 11 AM and they would get me right in. When I arrived there I was told that they do not accept walk ins at this time and that they are not scheduling any appointments due to the tire change over season. They never even checked their system to see that I was scheduled. The person talking to me was speaking to me in a very condescending way which I did not appreciate. I own my own business and I had to reschedule my own clients three times now. I don't appreciate the way Midas has treated me. If they can't keep an appointment, then they shouldn't have made three of them for me. I don't appreciate the run around they gave me. They lost my business. I will never go back to them again. I also told my friends and clients about them so they didn't just lose my business but theirs as well. read more

Took my vehicle in to get the tires balanced and changed over which seemed to go fine . About a month later, I'm redoing my brakes and whoever put my tires back on way over torqued every single bolt. What should've taken me a half hour is taking me over an hour with a cheater bar. Thanks a lot. read more

I dropped my car off for a 9am appt to have oil changed and brake fluid changed. I came back at 11:00, but it wasn't finished. I was told it would be 1 more hour. I came back at 12:30. It is now 2:30 and it still isn't finished. They might do a great job on your car, but don't pay any attention to their time estimate. Plan on picking it up right before they close. read more

I was given an appointment for a tire change. When I showed up for the appointment, I found out that tire changes are drop off only. They didn't even tell me when I checked in. I found out by listening to other people when they came in. Since I had an appointment and was told that it would take an hour, I did not have a ride. After sitting there for an hour and a half, they had not touched my car. When I told the manager what had happened, he made no effort to even try to fix it. He did not even offer me another appt. I've given Midas 3 or 4 chances now, and every time it's the same. Curt, dismissive service and no communication. This most recent time, I turned my car in for the seasonal tire swap. The guy at the counter says it will take "a couple of hours." I call 2 and a half hours later, and the guy gets defensive, saying he had 20 cars to do, even though I had an appointment. I never heard back, so I walked in right before closing to see my car waiting in the parking lot. No call, no communication. At least it looks like they installed the tires correctly. In the future, I will be taking my business to someone who values me as a customer. read more

i called and told them I needed a new muffler and asked what it would cost. They said to bring it in and they would give an estimate. They never mentioned they charge $40 to look at it for 5 min to tell me what I already knew... that it needs a new muffler. so... my 16 year old son goes in with it and then has to pay them $40. He did not know better. They have not offered to repay his $$ 2 things.... Who charges for a muffler estimate? And, why not tell me upfront? read more

Last summer I switched my studded tires to my regular tires at Midas and when I got my car back I immediately got a flat tire. I called them and they said that happens sometimes and to bring it in and they could fix it no charge. I got it towed to them and they "fixed" it. Drove on the tires all summer no problem. When winter began they switched out my tires once again and the regular tires have been in our shed. I made an appointment to switch out my tires this summer. Dropped off my car at 8 am. They called me at 4 pm (when they finally got around to my car) to tell me two of my tires needed replacement and one of them was because it was "driven on flat". Obviously the flat they admitted to causing the summer before. And the only amount of time it was driven on flat was when the flat happened and we pulled over immediately. I asked my husband to speak to them, he explained the whole situation and he was told the manager would call him. The manager never did. Hard to say what was what or prove anything but I just don't trust them now. read more

After a very disappointing run in with diversified tire, I took my truck to Midas in Wasilla. They got me in right away, completed my alignment and got me running by 4 o'clock the same day! The customer service in direct contrast to diversified tire was excellent! The greeting was professional they explained what they did and the price was less than diversify tire quoted. Made an appointment for an oil change three days prior. Dropped the vehicle off on time and said that I needed it in a few hours so I can go to work. Gentleman at the front desk said no problem and asked if I would be waiting. I said no since I'm a short walk from there. I arrive 10 minutes after 11 when I said I needed the vehicle back and the guy seemed surprised that I was back. I mentioned the time and he checked on my vehicle. He said they didn't get to it because they were swamped and that one of his other guys didn't show up until 10. He did offer to take half off the next time and I can appreciate that but what's to stop that from happening again? A phone call would have been nice for a heads up to tell me it's not ready as well. I am one of those guys who tries to spread the wealth and help the local businesses but I'll be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Brought car in for an oil change. They didn't change the oil filter even though they charged me for one and they stripped the oil plug. When I confronted them about the stripped plug they said it wasn't there fault because the car is old. I've gotten it changed for 10 years on base and now the first time I bring it to Midas they screw it up. Now I have to either replace the oil pan or rethread the current one. Don't go here. These people were absolutely wonderful. I bent my rim on a pot hole that might as well have been a crater. The rim took a week to arrive (not bad for Alaska :-) ). They worked with the dealership to have it ordered and they even had military discount. Upon the rim's arrival I appreciated their honesty about not having decent equipment to mount my low profile tires on the rim. I couldn't get upset at this. I called the day before. I was told my trucks' alignment would be done by the end of the day if I dropped it off the next morning. I was really happy to get it done on my day off. Nope, I ran into a serious case of over promise and under delivery. I asked for my keys after the front desk told me that it would not be done until the next morning. I won't be going back. Took my Ford Explorer Sport Trac in to get the tie rod ends and alignment done last weekend. Great service by Dave at the front desk. Drove my pickup home from work the next night and had a pretty severe wobble so I called Dave at Midas and he told me to bring it in. They looked at it for a bit and came up with some ideas of what it could be, but needed more time to do a thorough investigation. I brought it in the next morning where the mechanic Jim brought me back into the shop and showed me my tires wobbling on the hoist. He then told me that he wanted to ride along with me to see and feel what was happening. We got back from the ride along and he thought he'd throw on some new tires and do another test run to see if it was my tires. We still had a wobble. Turns out I bought my pickup from someone who'd put the wrong wheels on and used spacers. Jim took the spacers off, cleaned them up, rotated the tires and recommended I buy some of the correct wheels. I took the pickup for a test and the wobble is mostly gone. I wanted to mention that Jim and the guys at Midas did all of this work for free. They have a service attitude that is lost in today's world, and I'll always recommend Midas in Eagle River. These guys saved my Memorial Day weekend. We were going camping for the weekend and the wheel on my camper fell off (broke the studs off). There I was on the side of the highway with my wife, two young daughters a dog, fourwheeler, and a fully packed camper for the long weekend. I will never go back there! Went for an oil change and I need new breaks. I have someone to do that so I did not get the breaks done there. They seemed pissed I did not have the work done there. 1. noticed they put the tires on wrong. 2. the oil change sticker not changed. 3. checked the oil it looks like it was changed? 4. battery cover off. 5. power break fluid very low. 6. coolant cover off. 7. Air cleaner cover missing a rubber washer. REALLY? Called and let them know this is not right. Because I think your price is too high to do the break job. I had an appointment for an oil change at 5pm last Friday, I drop off my keys no problem and as I'm leaving the employee asks me if I'm staying. I reply with no, I'm walking across the street to workout while it gets worked out, how long should it take? He said about 45mins. After about almost an hour and no phone call, I get worried and walk back across to find that they had CLOSED!! No phone call, no warning, nothing closed! It was right after 6 so I started knocking on the door and calling, no answer. My heart dropped, my car was locked, they had the keys to my car and my house. I was panicking, how was I suppose to get home? How was I suppose to get in my house? It was a terrifying feeling being a young woman stranded in a parking lot and no way to get home. After waiting about an hour, I was finally able to get somebody to come pick me up, but that was absolutely unacceptable! I would never recommend them to anybody! read more
