Its been over 12 years that I have been bringing my vehicles to Quality Tune for everything from front end work and brakes to engine no start issues and I have not had a single bad experience, sometimes the work has taken longer than I expected, but being in the electronics repair business myself I understand how when you get into working on something you end up having to get parts you did not expect or you have to fix repairs that someone else did . So its ok. Elliot and the rest of the guys have always been curteous and honest regarding charges. I notice there are some negative reviews here in life people cannot always be perfect at the end of the day, and a lot depends on your williness to be patient and to give the shop the time to do the work - if you leave it to the last minute to get work done you run the risk of there not being enough time to do the job or creating a safety issue for them. read more

My Jeep was having issues and I had done some research to try and fix it myself, all to no avail. On the advice of my sister, I made an appointment with Quality Tune, and they got me in within days. They had the problem diagnosed three hours after dropping it off at the shop. I know a bit about cars, just enough to get me into trouble, but the issue was explained clearly enough for even me. The part wasn't available in town so it took a few days to ship it up, but they had my Jeep fixed within hours of the arrival of the part, for a price that seemed very fair to me. I have my name monogrammed on my own work shirt, so I have a reminder of what it is, so I do not remember the names of anyone I dealt with, but they were all friendly, professional, and knowledgable. This shop will be the first place I call the next time I need a hand with my car. Great job, guys! read more

Anchorage folks and out of towners DO NOT look any further for a better team of extremely capable, highly trained, HONEST and pleasant automotive experts. THESE GUYS CAN DO IT ALL. From replacing clutches, transmissions, radiators, headlights, engines, etc. to oil changes, tune ups and routine maintenance to a complete over haul on newer automobiles or your cherished classic! They can also do vehicle pre-purchase inspections. I am told they will even weld back together an achey breaky heart. Not to mention they are by far the VERY BEST communicators that I have ever known in my 40 plus years of living here in Anchorage. THEY DO NOT AND WILL NOT PLAY GAMES. I could go on and on about how GREAT these PROFESSIONALS are or how AMAZING the owner Elliot is. But the BEST way to get my point across it to just go see these guys in person for yourself. I regret not going to QUALITY TUNE years ago and kick myself for driving by and wasting time and money on inferior shops that are no contest to the great people at QUALITY TUNE. I got a transmission fluid and filter change last week. I took it here because my normal guy doesn't work on transmissions. When I brought it in to my normal guy to have differnt work done, they noticed there was fluid leaking. Upon further inspection they found that 4 of the screws that had been replaced by Quality Tune were loose and one was broken! The vehicle had been leaking tranamissiom fluid for a week! They did make it right, but I highly suggest you get work done elsewhere. read more

I was looking to buy a used car. I called around trying to find a place that could do an inspection and no one was able to. I was actually referred to Quality Tune by another shop. I called Quality Tune and they explained that they were busy as well and couldn't get me in for a formal vehicle inspection but that I could bring it by for a quick look. They still took time both on the phone and in person to see educate me about the vehicle and helped me make a good decision. Worst service I have experienced with car repair service. Waited all day to hear from them. Nothing. The next day, my husband got a text, and it was ready. They told him it was too hard, and they took them 5 hours to put on. They charged 800 dollars for work they were inexperienced to do. Then, 32 extra because we didn't know we needed cash. The worst part is they told us there are no taillights now, no brake lights, and no gas indicator. That we have to go to the dealer to have it flashed. That will cost us another 200 plus. They knew they couldn't finish the job and didn't tell us before they did the installation. Now I have an unsafe vehicle I can't legally drive. I can't get into a dealer for 2 weeks. My first husband was killed in a car wreck, and now I am terrified when I have to drive an unsafe car with the gaugees and rear lights gone to the next repair place to fix their terrible service The door, they wrote go to body shop. They didn't even do the safety check we asked for. Also, a part was missing from the harness we got from the dealer, and we provided, not knowing, that they wrote up on the invoice. I have no idea if they installed it missing. Poor communication and horrifying service. It will cost me almost 1500 to get a rental until I can get my car drivable. I hope no else picks this place. You will be sad and hurt if you do. The final worst part is they put a scratch into my new bumper that I have to contact them to repair as they don't take care of your vehicle properly. Now, when they check in by text and are told what happened. No response. No call. Shameful. read more

I took my Jeep in recently and it was an awful experience. I highly recommend you go elsewhere. They gave me a synthetic oil change without asking me which type I wanted (I'd never had one before). Now I'm stuck getting $100 oil changes the rest of my Jeep's life. They did some repair work without providing a quote or getting my authorization. They treated me like an idiot when I questioned all of this. I'm only giving 2 stars because they actually did repair what I needed. When I called the manager the next day all he could offer me was a refund on the price difference between a regular oil change and the synthetic. I chose Quality Tune based on the great reviews I had read. Not sure why I was treated so differently but there ya have it. read more

Everyone wants integrity in a mechanic more than anything else and that is what you get here. I took my car in because I had been hearing some screeching from my tire and was told by other mechanics that my axle had a small leak and to keep an eye on it. Eliot called me later in the day and let me know he couldn't find any sign of a leak and that my brakes looked great- I just had a rock stuck causing the screeching. But didn't want them to do the work for an astronomical quote they gave me for sensors alone. I told them no I'd pick my truck up. I can't speak highly enough for these guys. My tahoe began hemorrhaging fuel at the Holiday next door due to a faulty fuel pump. I jogged over to Quality Tune (where I had never been) and asked if they could help. They welcomed us in, made room in the bay, pulled the truck in, and quickly diagnosed the issue. They turned the vehicle around within 24 hours, and even topped off the fuel that my car leaked to insure their work was good. Further, after I dropped off the truck, I began walking back to work. Let me start by saying I Never leave negative reviews unless I really feel its warranted. I went to Quality Tune on Wednesday. I arrived at 5:20 pm and was behind a peeved customer demanding a part be replaced on her car while she wait. The gentleman behind the counter explained that it was an hour job and they only had 40 mins left in the day. I felt his pain so when he explained that there wasn't enough time to do an oil change, I happily made an appointment for the following day at 5:30pm (I get off work at 5pm). Did I mention this place is clear across town from where I work? The following day I FOUGHT across town in snow traffic to make it to Quality Tune. I got on site approximately 5-8 mins late. A different gentleman behind the counter said "I'm sorry we don't have time to do your oil change...oil changes take 30 mins". Why would you let people make appointments at 5:30 if they can't be a couple minutes late? In customer service you should have a courtesy window of at Least 10 mins or ADVISE people when they make the appointment that if they are late you can't fulfill the appointment. There is nothing worse than driving an hour round trip TWO DAYS in a row to give a business my money only to hear "sorry". I ended up doing my own oil change. Sorry Quality Tune. I was really hoping you'd be my new auto repair shop, but your complete unwillingness to work with customers blew it. And on a side note, it took me less than 30 mins to change my own oil. read more

I went to Quality Tune on a referral from a friend. They both suck!! I had a no crank situation on my Dodge. Quality Tune did a diagnostic service on it for me and told me that it needed a new computer installed, so I ordered one that was programmed to my vehicle specifically. I even asked the boss over there if I would be problem free if I installed a new one, he said oh yes, absolutely... WRONG!! The same problem still persists. I paid Quality Tune $100 for a diagnostic and paid $235 for a new computer only to be left stranded with no crank, again. I called them and told them that I had no change in my Dodge after following their direction and the boss said to me "oh shit Joe, that sucks, have a nice day". I will never use Low Quality Tune again and I will steer anybody away from their business ifI can. Ridiculous!!! read more
