We actually had a good experience, and they got to the work done quicker than expected.

I went into Midas because I had a brake pedal issue and they took a look at my car, and after the guy took a look at my car, they calculated up whatever numbers they did and the manager brought me back a paper of the amount of $4500 worth of work, which I got a second opinion at a different shop that has a five star rating because after overlooking the paper from Midas, it was $2000 just in labor and I got the same amount of work done for only $1500 all together including labor by the other shop who was more professional. Also, the time that I was sitting there which was 5 to 6 hours just to not have anything done on my car and then to lie to me and say my seized up in the shop and they couldn't get it out which later come to find out my car was sitting in the parking lot not in the shop (after driving by) and I still ended up paying money to have a brake check when the website said it was free! Also to mention, the guys in the shop were so unprofessional, dancing, and vaping, and not really keeping it a professional environment. Before taking any of your cars into their shop at Midas, I would consider reading all the reviews on them, checking out the facility, observing their workers to see what type of work ethic they have and everything before wasting any of your money on unprofessional work that is over charged! I will never ever take my car or any of my vehicles there ever again! And I will definitely be getting a hold of corporate and letting them know what type of environment that they run! read more

First of all calling us back when we call with service issues! No one at corporate answers the phone nor will call us back! Did a walk in to get winter tires put on. First customer service rep was horrendous . Said they might get to it today. Asked if I could just leave it until Tuesday when I got back in town. She said no way, too much snow. So I walked out. Angelina chased out of the store to my car as I drove away. She was so polite and apologetic for what happened. Brought my car over and they messed up both my front doors and did not offer to fix them, only months later. Brought it back and my driver window got more messed up and now missing the passenger side window washer fluid cover. When I got there I told them what I wanted to get fixed and they only fixed the knobs and did more damage to my car. Not a good place and DO NOT RECOMMEND. read more

Dropped truck off to purchase new summer tires on a Saturday. Went to pick up a few hours later and they installed the incorrect tires. Easy mistake, no big deal. Model numbers are very close. They didn't have them in stock so they installed my Blizzaks back on and sent me on my way. Came back on Monday and they installed correct tires but told me one of my Blizzaks has a damaged bead. These are brand new tires with less than 6,000 miles on them. 2,700 miles since they were put on this winter. They were not damaged prior to dropping the truck off. They clearly did not use any lubrication when removing the tires, tore a bead, then reinstalled it and hopped it up with bead seal and didn't say anything on Saturday. They also scratched the hell out of all 4 of my wheels that were in perfect condition prior to service. Manager will not admit fault and claimed they would not install a tire that is unsafe. If the Midas policy is to install tires with torn beads and not tell the customer, they need to rethink their business model. This could have exploded on me going 70mph and killed me and whoever was around. Also, the wheels are not balanced properly and shake the truck at highway speeds. Absolutely unacceptable service. Now I'm out $300 for a replacement tire as well as another $150 to have a competent shop inspect the beads on my new tires to make sure those aren't damaged and have them Re-balance them properly. **Update 4/28/23 In response to the request of me contacting Midas at the link below...I already submitted a complaint there. I've also called the 1-800 number and have been waiting for a call back from someone higher than the store manager for 5 days now. I went with a tiny leak. Went to get a pressure test on my radiator. After not going through with parts etc. Leaving a realize all the leakage just coming out furiously everywhere and if we were just checking pressure then why tf is my coolant just pouring out everywhere now? Now the leaks are coming from the iron or lead pipes visible to the eye and it was nothing like that beforehand. Don't go to them for anything. I believed my vehicle paid the price for not paying the price on the parts they were saying i needed. Extremely sad and I'm pissed off cause I knew this was a possibility and it was true. Man, it's just pouring out. The old dude at the counter is like the one who's orchestrating the b.s. Doesn't take rocket science, he's definitely going to worry you about your vehicle after one of his mechanics touched it. Go figure. Pure deception! My husband took our car to the Midas on Northern Lights for an estimate on a brake job. They also suggested an oil change (the oil had recently been changed!). They even sent a photo of the dipstick showing the oil was low. This was pure fabrication, as we checked it later and the oil was full. Slimy! So I had a coupon for $59.95 for an oil change. I took it into Midas. The front counter staff was very polite and professional. She said they could honor the coupon and it would be 1.5-2 hours. I went to grab lunch. 45 minutes later, they called to say it was done. Magically, instead of 59.95 + oil disposal, it was $83.07. I asked and was told that was the price. $400 to replace a $20 dollar hose for my radiator. Then they tried to get me to let them keep my car for diagnostics because they claimed my car had overheating issues still because they couldn't figure out which they estimated to cost $1300 dollars more. But what they don't realize is that I know a thing or two. They didn't burp the air pockets when putting the fluid back. They're either scam artists or just incompetent. Went in with my truck leaking power steering fluid. Upon Midas recommendation I pay $1000 to replace both the Power Steering pump and hoses. Leave to lot still leaks (just slower). So I bring it back in they now say it's the Steering Gear box and that's not under warranty so it'll be another $1000!!!! SCAMMERS. They tried to rip me off, and service was not timely. Here's my story: I had a scheduled appointment for a transmission flush and a vehicle inspection for Turo. I dropped off my truck at 8:30am and it was promised by the end of the day. 15 minutes before closing (5:45pm) they called and told me they could not do the flush because their equipment was malfunctioning. They kept my truck until 10am the next day so I could not leave Anchorage because I had no ride and had to spend the night. When I picked the truck up the next morning they told me that the truck had failed the Turo inspection because the brakes were worn to less than 3mm on front and rear pads. They recommended replacing the pads and rotors front and rear and an estimate at over $1000. I said no thanks and got a second opinion. What we found was shocking. My brakes were fine. In fact, they were 85% of new. The front pads were 8mm, rear were 7mm. The rotors were barely worn. They totally lied to me and attempted to get me for over $1000 in repairs. I feel bad for others, because I know they for sure have duped plenty of people. I went back to them to complain about the rip off they tried to pull on me, and they weren't very sympathetic. LAME. I paid 2000 dollars for New front\back disc rotors, front\back ceramaic pads, and 2 bracketed calibers. A month later, My tire is flat and I cant pry it off. I had a nail in my tire so took it into Midas for repair. Midas came back and told me it couldn't be repaired, and recommended I purchase 4 new tires with no explanation . Keep in mind my truck only has 17K miles. What a rip off! I took it to Costco for 2nd opinion, they measured tread across all tires and said only one with nail needed replacement. Unfortunately it had to be ordered and would be 2-3 weeks so they referred me to American tires. American quoted a new tire and after looking at location of nail, suggested a repair believing it will hold. He said he'd rather charge me $30 than $500 for a new tire. Customer service sucks. Made me feel like I was a nuisance and felt belittled. Left feeling like an idiot for even asking them to check a light that was lit up on my dash. Get your brakes inspected, pay $40. Get your brakes fixed there, and get that $40 applied to your repair bill, making your inspection free. My experience was okay. They were very slow; 2 1/2 hours for a brake inspection, with an appointment. They are also a bit pricey. To get one brake/caliper fixed I paid well over $600, but it could have been much worse. Even so, they over-quoted me, which was nice when it came time to pay. I also had to remind them to credit me the $40 inspection fee, even though they included it in my original quote. All this being said the staff was very friendly, and took me into the garage to show me exactly what issues I had with my brakes and what needed attention. i see i am not the only one who is dissatisfied with midas. They destroyed my brakes by putting ceramic pads on instead of changing out the rotors. however, they charged me for changing out the rotors. i am now stuck with an astronomical bill of over $1800.00. the ceramic pads destroyed so many components that i am having to replace everything. Pads, and rotors as well. Midas is unwilling to reimburse me after speaking with owner, jeff lientfer. he starts out saying he is not a technician and finishes with we put ceramic plates on all the time. there is no way i would allow you to work on my truck again. warranty or not. which is what he offered. DO NOT GO TO MIDAS in anchorage for any brake work. they are thieves, and will destroy your vehicle. read more

I took my Volvo in for an oil change. They also fished a penny out of my seat belt and changed a brake light bulb. The staff was friendly and the services I requested were completed HOWEVER, I was there 3 hours! Apparently, they didn't have the oil filter for my vehicle on hand and had to have it delivered. I was not informed of this in a timely manner. AN OIL CHANGE SHOULDN'T TAKE 3 HOURS! and if it's going to be longer than usual, communicate that with your customer. I actually needed to get back to work to deal with a few emergencies. Additionally, there was grease inside my tan leather car which I had to clean up in the parking lot as well as MISSING I burned out back up light I noticed as they pulled my car out of the bay. I love taking my car (Jetta VW) here. Great service, quick, knowledgeable, polite, and honest staff, shop is centrally located in midtown. I use to dread taking my car anywhere to get fixed/tire change outs, I could never find a place that did it all or that was convenient to take it to. Absolutely do not go here. Went in for a simple tire changeover and blinker bulb replacement and I only got one of those things. They did the tires fine, but when they called us to come pick it up, they did not change either of the blinker bulbs and charged us for BOTH SIDES when only one needed replacing. So basically charged for something extra and that never got done. Took it back for a refund and they only refunded us for half the service. Better off changing your own bulbs. I don't even know how you forget to do an entire half of the service. Front desk girl is clueless. read more

I went to Midas for the first time a couple weeks ago to get my tires changed over and an oil change. After they finished the oil change and tried to put on the tires, they realized I had the wrong tires (had two sets of tires at the house). I took my car to these folks a couple months ago for an oil change. I usually go to Palmer or Wasilla, but since they are by my work, I thought I would give them a try. It was quite fast turn around, but shortly after picking up my car I noticed an oil leak. I called them about it and they claimed that they went over this with me. I was never told, nor was it stated on my paperwork. They said that my oil pan was cracked and leaking. When I took it back they said that it would be $700 to replace, but they could do it for $550. I explained that I never had an oil leak and that Midas is the only place I take my vehicles to. Logically, one would think that they would fess up to cracking it, but instead they said this is common when changing oil on my vehicle. I googled it on my phone and found no such info. After a lengthy back and fourth they finally admitted that their tech may have broke it by over tightening and they would fix it for free... in a few days. They did fix it when they got the part in, but nothing by the way of an apology or anything. Today I take my car in for an oil change and gave them a second chance. They emailed me photos of my cabin filter about an hour later and say it must be replaced. I agreed to do so and was quite surprised when the charged me $30 for a $10 filter and another $30 to put it in (though they already had it open as a "courtesy" to check it). Then they claimed that it is in a very "difficult location" to get to on my vehicle. It is literally one clip on the side of my glove box and that is it... open in seconds. Then they said it is a standard charge of $30. I had to review... so you opened it up, took it out and snapped a photo as a courtesy, but it is $30 to slide a new one in!? This is why no one trusts mechanics these days. You would think a company as big as Midas would be a little more customer oriented. I contested the charge and they gave me the number to corporate. I was told this place was ok , So wrong went in for an oil change for my pt cruiser drove in from Valdez , thought i get my oil changed I was told they would top of my fluids rotate the tires 100 point inspection what ever . I took my car in to patch a hole in my tire from a screw. The manager made me take off the tire myself and put the spare on at 7:30 in the morning in 25 degree weather. They botched the job. The hole was not patched and continued to leak air. I am now somewhere else trying to get their mistake fixed. Also the manager treated me terribly and was so rude. Terrible experience. read more

I do not recommend Midas. I used to use them for basic stuff, but when I had to do more technical repairs on my vehicles they came up with charges that were completely unreasonable. As an example, I have an exhaust leak on my manifold, so I took it in as they have free exhaust inspections. While they were working on it I told them to go ahead and rotate the tires and to change the oil. The next day they called me with an outrageous quote of $1,000 to change my exhaust gaskets. They needed to take out my converter and replace my whole exhaust system because "Federal emission requirements" force them to take out the converter if they even touch the exhaust. At first I thought he was being honest, but I called around to some other shops and come to find out, the converter does not need to be replaced by any law. He blatantly lied to me. In addition, the converter has platinum in it, so when they sell it to the junk dealers they make a hefty return. I trusted Midas, but I realize now I've probably been lied to for years... I wish I would've read the other reviews BEFORE I booked an appointment. Not that it mattered (that I booked an appointment) because when I showed up - on time - all the racks were full, and I had to wait. So what's the point of making an appointment if you still have to wait? Of course, they check everything out for you; which would be fine if magically what they said was wrong with your vehicle wasn't there before and now is. They told me that my fluid hoses were leaking and that I've probably noticed oil on the floor of my garage/driveway. I hadn't, but now, every time I shut off my truck, there's a stream of fluid that makes a mass-exidous out. Should've paid the extra $5 and gone to Jiffy Lube. read more

Had good luck with the Eagle River Midas, this one on Northern Lights however is a joke. Been here for two hours for an O2 sensor to be replaced when he said it would be about 45 minutes. Why? Because they ordered the wrong part...twice. The guy at the front counter couldn't care less, and the right part still isn't here. I'm shocked at these reviews. I'm very particular at customer service. This morning I called 3 different places; Continental auto, Meineke, and Midas and was met with attitude from the others. The Midas guy, maybe his name was Jeff was very nice and told me to bring my car in to get tires. Went in with no problems. I also asked the technician dude if I could get an oil change and my wipers replaced. He showed me the ones he personally recommended that work really well instead of just showing me the most expensive. I paid and I was out the door. This place is terrible! Took the truck to get a tire changeover, oil change, and a tuneup. Expressly described that there is a weird noise in the engine when the truck is started and asked that they checked it out. In addition, I made another appointment for my other car to get the same service done - which they told me I could drop off when the truck was done. When I went to pick up the truck, not only was the employee super rude, but when I asked about the tuneup, he couldn't confirm whether or not they had actually looked at the problem. I politely asked clarifying questions and he gave me an attitude and again didn't answer my questions. Furthermore, they didn't have my other car in the appointment book even though they confirmed the appointment the day before. This location and its employees are very slow, very rude, and if you're going to pay someone to do your service I would recommend going to someplace else. If I could have given them 0 stars...I would have. Save yourself the frustration and go somewhere else read more
