Bacoado omlette and a bunch of potatoes
    Jen D.

This is a sweet gem in mid cities. The potatoes were perfect. This is one of the only places we have been that really knows how to make eggs!! Service was wonderful. We love having another option for breakfast in the area. Highly recommended!

It's right in front of the Trinity High School. Really cute setup. Quaint, humble, and clean. Service was wonderful and friendly. There seems to be a few regulars that are retired and enjoy this cafe. We ordered the chicken fried steak with hash browns and Two Egg Breakfast with Belgian waffle combo along with coffees and chocolate milk for the kid and kid pancakes. Everything was delicious and decently priced. Food came out fast and fresh. Hash browns were perfectly crispy along the edges. Nice place and good value for the cost.

Migas, potatoes, cinnamon french toast, and biscuits and gravy

Well, I feel like a fool for not visiting this location on a regular basis! We came here after getting some seriously rude service by the hostess at the local Denny's and deciding a different option would be best that day. I was impressed from the moment I walked into Mid Cities Cafe up to the moment I left. We were enthusiastically greeted by a lovely young woman who asked us our preference on seating (booth or table) and seated us at an available booth. Our server came out shortly and was extremely gregarious and smiling wide, while seeming completely authentic. After he took our order, we enjoyed the lovely, quiet, quaint atmosphere of the cafe. The decor is well done and provides visual interest without seeming busy. We ordered the cinnamon french toast, migas, biscuits and gravy, and a side of potatoes. Everything was wonderful! I'm actually salivating just thinking about it, honestly. We had not a single complaint. The coffee was also good, it tasted like an American brew, but lacked the bitterness that so many diners seem to have in their coffee. If there is one thing I could suggest, it would be to provide fresh salsa with the migas (or any other southwest inspired dish). They had cholula at the table, which is great, but I do dearly love me some fresh salsa! But that is super nitpicky, and certainly won't stop us from coming back very soon!

The atmosphere and aesthetic gave a brightening welcoming earthy feel! Of course the food was amazing and received superb service by Aidan! We got the Crossaint Benedict and Bacado burger and it was delicious! Love the fact that the background music is not too loud so you can hold a conversation with your party. Will definitely come again!!!

Very clean and nice place to eat breakfast, lunch or brunch. I have been coming here for breakfast and brunch. So when my son asked for breakfast, I remembered of this place. He ordered steak and egg and it was gone in minutes. I always ordered the corn beef hash and this time with house potatoes and pancake. Never tried their pancake before, but it was biiiiiig and perfect. Super filled with their delicious meals. The waiting staff, Anthony, was very attentive and kind. The owner was always checking on us too. I have no complaints and cannot think of anything they could do better. They are already so good! This is my breakfast/brunch to go, always!!!! If you are in the area, please come and check them out. You won't be disappointed.

Cinnamon French toast finished (good) and one order late arriving. Bacon not good. Wish I had ordered the sausage.

We ended up here one busy morning when other restaurants were packed with long lines. This is a bit off the main restaurant thoroughfare so that may account for being able to be seated immediately. We both ordered cinnamon French toast - mine with bacon, his with sausage. The French toast was quite good; I would look forward to trying it again. The bacon was inedible - it's flavor to my taste buds was almost rancid. Very disappointing. His sausage was quite sage-y flavor-wise but I liked my small bite. Eggs were eggs, as ordered, well, almost. He wanted his eggs scrambled but they were delivered over medium as mine were correctly. We think we were not clear on his order. Disappointing was the service. The restaurant filled after we arrived, partially with friends of our young waiter, who seemed more interested in talking with his friends rather than tend to the old people over there! We had to wait way too long for an order to be corrected and coffee to be served. We would return, and hope that service improves and would definitely skip the bacon next time.

Love coming here for breakfast! It's close, local and the customer service is top notch. I only order the Biscuit omelette because it's so freaking delicious I don't want to venture away from it. I just try new things on my husbands plate lol. If you are in the area swing by! Enjoy!!

Clean pleasant atmosphere. Of the six tables occupied, no one has received a coffee refill. I've been waiting for 20 minutes, as the waitress/greeter/cashier has passed my empty cup. Get to person some help. Kitchen takes way too long. Chorizo and eggs. A looking disgusting looking pile. Taste like eggs and Greece. Bisquits, who toast a fresh bisquit? And no butter to be found. The fruit cup, cold and delicious. I'll tip the 20% these things aren't the waitress fault. But I won't be back.

Dropped the ball sorry Ordered the French toast combo and biscuits and gravy. The best part of the French toast combo was the bacon. The toast was mush still soaked with better. The B&G was better than the combo nothing to with home to mom about. The coffee was also a failure to watery and no flavor. Well, I tried to like it, but it as an opportunity that I wish I could do a Ctrl+Z.

It's cute and the menu has great options. But there are just some things that need attention. The space desperately needs some fabric somewhere to soften the sounds. I broke my leg end of last year and gained weight, so I have to sit half off the chair or it digs into me because the booths along the back wall are usually not available. The food. It's fine. The biscuits are dense, the pancakes are dense, the coffee drinks are pretty weak, it's just... fine. It's not bad, it's not great, it's fine. The eggs are good and the avocado is delicious. I initially gave this place 5 stars, but after returning recently for the first time in a long while, the experience was extremely disappointing. We came in, got seated, and a guy named Omar handed us the menus. I asked if we could get two hot waters with lemon, and in a very dismissive tone he replied, "Anna will get that," then just walked away. We then saw Anna walk past our empty table three or four times before finally coming over with two glasses of cold water, which we never asked for. I told her we would've requested hot water with lemon, but she barely even acknowledged us. She took the cold water away, turned around, and later came back simply setting the hot water down without a word. When we were looking at the menu, my husband asked what the side options were. She replied in an annoyed tone, "It's right there," while pointing at the menu. My husband then asked if she could just tell us, which she eventually did. From start to finish, there was no smile, no pleasantries, no sense that she even wanted to serve us. Mind you, this was 9 AM on a Monday, and there were only three occupied tables in the restaurant, including ours. When the food arrived, one of the plates had dirt, a dead bug, or something similar on it. We pointed it out, and instead of apologizing, she took the plate away, came back, denied it was a bug, and still seemed visibly irritated. Later, I asked for extra napkins. She returned and aggressively dropped them on the edge of the table without even looking at us before walking away. Throughout the entire meal, she passed by our table several more times and never once checked on us. We left feeling dismayed, disappointed, and honestly feeling like the service did not deserve a tip--so we didn't. This used to be one of our go-to spots after church on Sundays, but unfortunately, that will no longer be the case. Suffice it to say, we will not be returning.

I ordered the chicken fried steak with hash browns, scrambled cheese eggs with onions mixed into the eggs and hash browns, plus two pancakes. Around $15. Pardon the food pics.
