Mid Atlantic movers helped my daughter in her mid 20s move this past weekend. The scheduled time for arrival was 10am, but they didn't arrive until 11:30am because the owner had locked the keys to the truck in his car and his car was towed. My daughter had the loading dock at her new place from 10-12pm. Obviously they didn't make this window and had to sit and wait for about an hour until there was a window they could unload her stuff. Not to mention, when they were loading at her house, it took longer than it's ever taken any movers to move her stuff into the truck. She had everything organized And packed nice and neatly. She regularly had had to hire movers when moving in town (3 movers in the last 4 years) and this by far was the worst experience. Would never use this company again. Took 6 hours for 2 guys to load a 2 bedroom house that was already packed in boxes. Thats not including the time it took to unload at the new house. 1 of 2 guys was easily in his 60s, did not look like he should have been doing the job based on how slow he was moving. During unpacking he disappeared into the truck for about 30 minutes. I had to ask them to use furniture blankets on items after they banged it up. Then they tried to cover up the damage. Only gave us $100 off the final price, about 1100 dollars, for the damaged furniture. read more

Like other reviewers, customer service was amazing.... until there was a problem. I recently moved from a townhouse to an apartment. I had a number of boxes & pieces of furniture that just to be moved to my garage and I needed to make one stop to drop off/pick up some furniture. I was on a timetable because I needed to reserve the freight elevator at the apartment and be done by 6 pm. Despite my desire to start the move earlier, Orlando insisted there was plenty of time and scheduled movers to arrive at 10am. After the move was final over at 6:45pm and I discovered damage to my furniture and the floors and walls at the place I moved out of, Orlando offered me $100 because my son and friends helped carry items from the truck to the final stop. Despite the fact I shared pictures of the damage which was not consistent with bumping into walls and there was not damage to the walls in my apartment (only the townhouse I moved out of) he has now stopped responding completely. All 3 of the movers were polite & courteous and I have no complaints about them, however, I would not say they did a wonderful job. They arrived 30 minutes late. They did call & I appreciated that, but I was also working against a deadline, they were getting paid by the hour. They put down one furniture blanket at the front door, but no floor coverings anywhere else in the house. When they arrived I walked them through the townhouse. I had everything color coded to indicate if the item was just being moved to my garage or if it was going to the apartment (and color coded for upstairs to the apartment or downstairs to the storage unit). The only items that weren't color coded were the pieces of furniture that were being taking to the first stop. I walked them to the living room to show them the sectional sofa and then to my bedroom and showed them the bedroom set - bed, mattress, 2 night stands, dresser & mirror. We agreed these items would be loaded last so they could easily make the swap at the first stop. That walk-through took about 15 minutes and then they got to work at about 10:45am. At no time during this did my son or his friend help with the loading of the truck. During the loading of the truck they were carrying down a standing mirrored jewelry chest that was just being taken to my garage and somehow smashed the front of the mirror when coming down the last flight of stairs. I only heard the smashing glass, so I don't know how it happened. I told them at the time that it was OK. I was planning on trying to sell the item. This would not have been a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but in in light of everything else, it points to carelessness that could also lead to the other damage of my furniture. After approximately 4.5 hours after starting to load they finished at my house (3:10pm). I had originally scheduled the elevators for 2-4p at the apartment but I had called them to move to 4-6 when I realized we wouldn't make it to there by 2pm. There are significant black marks on the stairwell from the furniture scratching the walls. They asked if I had soap and water to so they could try to clean them up, but I said we did not have time to do that because we were already running so late. When we arrived at the first stop they unloaded the sectional sofa and then set up the bed and mattress but they had forgotten that the entire bedroom set was being moved when I asked them about the dresser/mirror and the 2 nightstands. Turns out those were loaded in the back of the truck so they had to unload almost the entire truck to find those times & unload them before reloading the truck and adding the sofa that I was picking up from this stop to bring to my apartment. At 5pm we finally left the first stop and made our way to the apartment. Once we arrived at the apartment, I had my son and 2 of his friends help unload the furniture because I was supposed to be finished with move and freight elevator by 6pm. Because of this, Orlando stated he can't confirm that the damage wasn't done by my son or his friends so there was little he could do to compensate me. The damage is not consistent with running into walls which is all they could have done if they were the cause of the damage. Given the items were loaded, unloaded and reloaded into the truck, and in a rush when they were reloaded at the first stop, the damage is consistent with being dragged on it's side in the moving truck. When I returned back to the townhouse following the move in addition to the black marks on the stairwell walls there were also a number of scrapes on the wood floors. I sent pictures to Orlando but still received no rebut still received no response. So, courteous movers, decent price... but just make sure you take before pictures of everything you are moving and do not touch or move anything yourself, because if there is any damage during your move, you will be responsible for it. read more

Mid-Atlantic movers made the booking so easy. Orlando was responsive and quickly provided a quote and sent a contract the same day. They were 3 hours behind schedule due to a truck rental issue, but kept constant communication with me. The movers were fast, professional and knew what they were doing. Despite heavy rain, they moved fast and took care of items. They struggled with one move of a couch from the basement which caused some holes/scratches on the wall, but I understand the situation. Also, some things towards the end were noticeable... like not wrapping delicate things as they should and putting back couch legs. I'm hoping my unwrapped couch and other things are not damaged - which I will not see until I move the things out of storage. Other than those, I still think they were great. My experience with Mid Atlantic Movers was awesome. Orlando was communicative throughout the process, and I appreciated that he confirmed my appointment the day prior and was communicative throughout the morning of, conducting a walk-through and providing an eta. I moved a studio/1-bedroom's worth of furniture from an apartment in DC to a storage unit in Baltimore. Orlando surprised me by not only pitching in with his team to make the move go smoothly but also by showing up with 2 additional movers at no additional cost- I was only expecting 2 movers. The whole team (4 movers) was friendly and wore masks the whole time. They were very respectful and pleasant to work with. It was a really fast load-in and unload. I felt confident that Orlando and the team wrapped everything well in moving blankets and secured everything in the truck. In addition, at the unload, they packed my storage unit (5x10) brilliantly- I was really concerned it wouldn't all fit! The move came to $320+$80 tip for just under 3 hours of work and drive time. I will say-I didn't have too many things I was worried about breaking or damaging in the move, as I took care of moving my dishes and kitchen stuff myself, but I felt like my things were in capable hands with Orlando and his team. First, communication: Orlando was excellent, quote came back promptly and clear, when I called he was able to confirm the date, and the day before the moving he asked for a quick inventory of the items to move. On the day of, there was a little issue that delayed their arrival, but he got in touch 2 hours before the original time and laid out backup plans for me, which I really appreciated. They texted me ETA and again 5 minutes away from arriving. Move: The movers arrived with masks on, and explained the price structure and did the paperwork, before quickly got to action. They were very effective movers and pleasant people. They made sure large furnitures were wrapped in blankets and took care of fragile items. Overall: This was my second time ever using movers, and because of the bad experience with my first one, I didn't want to use movers again. For my studio/1BR moving, I usually asked friends to help. This was my first time hiring movers, and I was nervous because I didn't know what to expect. We had a lot of stuff to move even if it was a studio apartment, and some furniture we didn't know how to prepare for moving (fancy electronic piano). Orlando gave me a quote within a couple hours, and even moved up my move date when there was a scheduling conflict (on my end). Orlando was flexible and responsive about it all. On the day of the move, 2 movers were sent and they arrived on the time frame Orlando gave me, and they called me like I asked so I could direct them where to park. They did a walkthrough and before I could blink 3 boxes were already moved out! They were so fast! We had more to move than expected, so we went over the quoted time. Which was fine with us, but when the team was getting short on time due to another move they had to go to later that day, Orlando called me and told me he would send 2 more workers as backup to make the move faster, and they did not charge us for this change even though it was our fault! I thought that was very good customer service (I worked sales, so I appreciate these little things!). The team packed the truck well and snuggly and covered our furniture as best they could with blankets. They came prepared with green wrap and wrapped our things when they were not packed well enough by us, which I really appreciated because I had no idea what I was doing!! Packing is the worst! They also were happy to place our stuff exactly where we needed it to go in the new apartment. At the end, one of the movers went over the billing calculations carefully with us (transparency is so important and I thought that was very good of him to do) for the final cost of the bill. We knew this move took longer than expected, which was our fault for not packing more efficiently, but even with the additional time the final quote was very affordable, far better than any quotes I received from other companies. And we were not charged for the backup crew. We were so impressed by how low-stress and easy the team made the move, we gave them a big tip, they totally earned it. They had to work with us newbies, dealt with a move that took longer than expected and never blamed us for it, and also worked in 95 degree heat without any complaints, and they wore masks the whole time. We had no complaints, just surprise at how great the service provided was. The team was really great at working with us on how to move delicate items, and recommending wrapping items that we didn't wrap but should have, and I definitely recommend working with Orlando if you're new to the moving process because he explains it well and made it all really easy, and the billing was totally transparent. His team was safe to work with and they were such fast workers. I can't believe they could work that fast in this crazy DC heat and humidity.
