I'm an avid supporter of Microcenter due to the options and expertise. However at this store was I not only upsold, I was also recommended an incompatible product. These were holiday gifts and now, with a child under two, I've had to make a trek back to rectify the situation which I thought was not rectified in an appropriate manner. It disappoints that Best Buy can offer better deals and better service. I remember when I could trust Microcenter associates, let alone managers, but not at this store. So with regards to anything positive I said in my prior review - Ignore it. You know what's worse than bad customer service? Absolutely nothing! My laptop started having problems charging, I assumed the issue was the power adapter but I wanted to make sure it wasn't the battery itself, and if it was the adapter I knew I couldn't just take any random one off the shelf. So I go in to Micro Center and go to their service desk, after signing in for service I'm assisted by a woman whose attitude essential reeked of "I don't really care" but who confirms that the issue was the adapter, yet she had to get someone to help me find the correct replacement adapter. She radios in for someone, a guy starts walking towards the desk and she tells me that's who I need to speak to and that I should go meet him halfway there. So I go up to this guy who tells me to "wait in this aisle and I'll be with you in a few of minutes." So I go to said aisle. And I wait. For FIFTEEN MINUTES, which was FAR TOO GENEROUS given that there was little to no crowd in the store that afternoon as is. After having my patience unnecessarily tested I go back to the help desk, take my laptop, the woman helping me prior says and does nothing, doesn't even bother to ask if the guy she directed me to came to help, and I walk out. I then go down Central Ave. to Best Buy and within five minutes of just walking in an associate is asking if I need assistance, finds the correct power adapter, I pay and I'm done. This is the best place for everything computer related. They have every part you ever need to build a computer. I don't build computers but you can see the selection. TV selection is great too. I bought an Apple Macbook Pro (finally pulled the trigger) on sale. I am very happy with my computer. Bought a cool case too. It is a great place for computer parts. They have everything a modder like myself could ever need. Best prices for processors. An amazing selection of high end components from video cards to motherboards. They have an awesome selection of monitors as well. Nice gaming library to buy from. They are limited in productivity software. Most of the staff is polite, but there are a select few who are outright nasty, however, that can be overlooked with their great selection. Came in to get a bad laptop checked out. The tech was competent but the wait was horrible. Waited an hr although there were only 2 people ahead of me. Not a good experience for service at all. BTW - I've been a tech for 20 yrs and I would never give that experience to my customers. Staff the desk properly so this is not the norm. There was only 1 guy at the desk and he "that" customer who asked 100 questions while all of us watched in agony. Had there been the a manager monitoring the helpdesk, perhaps they have seen the issue. First time in the store. Probably the last unless I need a cable. The deals are great, can't argue with the motherboard CPU combo pricing they offer. The customer service is awful. Was planning on building an entire PC but was so turned off by the aggressive and rude service I walked away with just a CPU and motherboard. My experience was limited to the build a computer area. I was harassed by 2 sales reps to switch from an Intel CPU to to an AMD CPU. They pretty much asked me to explain my purchase. One rep then proceeded to insult me going as far as to make jokes and state how I am wasting money. I would speculate the sales team is told to push AMD chips because of the lower cost or they receive a kickback form the company. It makes no sense otherwise as an Intel chip costs 80-150 more and would be a bigger sale. My advice is take advantage of the deal do not get bullied into a product you do not want. read more

A friend recommended Micro Center to me when I explained that following a system upgrade my MacBook was not working properly. When I went to the 'GENIUS BAR' at the Apple Store, I was told me problems were due to my computer being outdated, was told to order more RAM online, install it myself -- jeez. Instead, I went to Micro Center where the most helpful technician, Basel, walked me through the process of installing the additional RAM, got me a great deal on the price and did the installation within 2 hours. It was so brilliant that the next day I brought in my son's Surface Pro 3 which was acting glitchy and voila! within 15 minutes of tweaking things, Basel had it working seamlessly. I love this place and the people who work there! Can't say enough good things. Micro Center is WAY BETTER than The Genius Bar!!! read more

I don't write many reviews, but wanted to do so just to give a shoutout to the associate that helped me with my purchase today, Mr. Polanco! He answered all of my (many) questions, and did not pressure me or rush me at all while making my decision. I went in with the intention of browsing, and only being able to ask a question or two, as sales associates I've experienced in other places generally seem to be in a rush to make a sale. I planned on returning on another date (or to be honest, possibly making the actual purchase of my laptop elsewhere once I had the information I was looking for). Instead, Mr. Polanco explored all my options with me based on what I was looking for, and made his recommendation only when I asked, rather than at the offset, which I very much appreciated. It's very rare to find someone that's as patient and helpful as Mr. Polanco was, so I hope my review will send some of you his way! read more

I took my computer there to be fixed. Tech told me my pc could be fixed and that all I needed was a HD replacement. I picked up the computer and brought it home. It not only wasn't working but it was worst. I called tech and told him, he told me to bring it back. When I brung it back, tech wasn't there. His co workers tested the pc and saw it was not working. Co worker read techs notes about pc fix, and the technician said he told me over the phone that it could not be fixed. He not only lied on me but he sold me a hard drive in the process, making me think it could be fixed. I spoke with manager and told her what happen, she took the side of the technician. She did not rad the notes or listen to me after I explained to her what tech told me. She granted a refund for the hard drive but not the labor . They was suppose to remove the hard drive from the pc the next day, but they made me wait six days to get my pc back. They also made me wait a long time in the store for the refund. I am no longer a customer of this company. It wasn't just about the bad customer service and the manager poor communication skills, but the worker lying on me was terrible. I will never recommend this place to anyone. The only one who helped me there was the service person Monique Young, she is the only one who knew the policy and treated me with professional courtesy. The company was smart enough to get me in using a coupon but once I got there I had some questions I ask for a sales associate and no one was able to help me my coupon was expired and the manager was nice enough to go ahead and honor that but once again felt very shady with no sense of communication just simply walking in turning the key and leaving just didn't feel welcomed and they literally let me walk out of the store when I was almost going to spend $500 and the whole reason I came was because I had a coupon so in my opinion the store is nice and they probably have what you need but the sales people need to really step up their game read more

I just finished doing an exchange at their Yonkers location. I bought a dell laptop a week ago and changed my mind to get a macbook air. When I got the dell I purchased virus software and installed it prior to returning the computer, so it's virtually useless to them now. Although it's against their official policy to refund the software they were nice enough to give me a gift card worth part of the software's original price. Customer service associate Neshara and the manager Adrian were professional and friendly, making the whole exchange easy and painless. Also, their prices are amazing and the sales associate Harry was helpful, knowledgeable and sincere. Will definitely be returning soon to spend my giftcard! read more

Recently for the holiday i went to look for a laptop for my mother and I saw the laptop that I want at a low price which was a black Friday deal however the representative that I was dealing with Ms Shanice Thompson was not trying to upsell me to a $1000 computer but for $60 more I was able to get double the battery life plus double the hard drive space... The place has good products but the experience I had at the knowledge bar was despicable. I brought my old PC in for repair and they didn't even bother to turn it on. They hardly listened to what I said about what I had done with it. I paid for the diagnostic hoping I'd be able to pay them to repair it. They just tell me to buy a new computer because this one is old. Time and money wasted. If I wanted to buy a new computer I would have done that without them charging me to tell me that. I have to thank my father's friend for introducing us to MicroCenter. He used to live near the first MicroCenter (which is located in Columbus, Ohio) and he told us all about how great this store is. I thought it was going to be another Best Buy or Circuit City (There was a Circuit City before this MicroCenter though) I was impressed the minute I walked in to the store; PC PARTS...PC PARTS EVERYWHERE! I fell in love with the store, and whenever I need to build or upgrade my computers, this is where I go. After being convinced by GeekSquad in Yonkers to trash my workhorse desktop because of a blown motherboard (a wrong decision which I regret) there was no way I was going back there to check out my daughter's laptop, which she received from her school 4 years ago, and was a DOG - so slow it was not worth using. We went on a weekday morning and walked right up to the counter. The tech was pleasant, knowledgeable and fast. He checked out the machine and told us we could replace the 256MB of RAM with 2 Gigs. They could do the job in 1 hour! The cost? $50 plus $30 service fee. This for a laptop we thought was a doorstop! The job was done, and the machine is as fast as lightning! Incredible! A few days later, we took a desktop I hoped could be resuscitated with new RAM and faster processor to them. Same quick service, same knowledgeable staff people. They told me to save my $$$ - this machine wasn't worth the trouble - I might as well buy a new machine. Then I took another laptop to upgrade the RAM. After a check they told me they could upgrade from 512MB to 1 GIG, same $50 plus $30 service charge. When they gave me my machine back, it was working like a charm AND THEY GAVE ME BACK THE 2 256MB RAM CHIPS THEY REPLACED WITH THE ADVISORY THAT I COULD SELL THESE, SINCE THEY WERE STILL IN GOOD SHAPE. The store is amazing, the service is outstanding, I FEEL LIKE I'VE DIED AND GONE TO COMPUTER HEAVEN! If you're anywhere nearby this Yonkers store and you don't go there, you're Nuts! They have more laptops and desktops on display, and more knowledgeable sales people than any other store I've ever seen!
