My husband and I had the worst customer service today. We purchased a few software items and then we went past a clearance bin. We purchased a generic case for our kindle, there were two cases, one was marked $4.96 and the other $15.00.brought both up to the counter and told the cashier that we wanted the one that was marked for 15.00 but they forgot to add the yellow tag. The cashier rang up the wrong price, then he said we had to go to customer service for the refund. Well the manager came out with the largest frown on her face and said the case marked at $4.96 was a return like we should know this, made use feel stupid. No where on the bin or tag did it say that this was marked down due to a return. I left the store and my husband waited there for the credit. This manager should not be in customer service let alone a manager. Shame on her! read more

Wow! I had been pretty concerned when an HP laptop I purchased from this store died not a week later, but I went back and they took care of me. They gave me the closest thing they had in stock no hassle, discounted the difference. They really made it right. I forgot the manager's name but she told the sales associate right away to take care of me, and I really appreciate that. Micro Center has always been a great electronics store, some of the best prices around, and tons of things for the hobbyist. Now I know they have the service to match. read more

Cannot believe how cheap I got some parts from here! Even though you already save money when building your own system, I still saved hundreds of dollars shopping here than if I had bought parts at say, Best Buy or newegg.com. I initially was shopping for a single part to start my desktop build. However, the prices were so great and the staff so helpful that I decided to return for the rest of the parts. I wasn't gonna find a better deal elsewhere! The staff was knowledgeable and gave recommendations from personal experience, not just repetitions of what's printed on the box. Dan was able to talk about his own system and relate from that, giving me options on what to buy depending on the direction I wanted to take my build. The fact that he gave honest advice, said some things probably wouldn't be good for me instead of everything is great, showed me that he understood thoroughly what he was talking about. Too bad there aren't more of these around the country for me to continue to shop at. Definitely gonna check here first for parts when I build my next system! read more

Worst Customer Service Experience - EVER. First, let me start by saying that although I am not a computer genius, I do know more than the average PC builder. I am frugal, not bleeding money, and I've been watching prices on several main computer components (stretching a dollar these days). When Micro Center advertised the Intel Core i7-950 processor for under $200, I simply could not let that pass by. I stopped into the store this evening looking only to buy that one component on sale as I am not quite ready to buy the other components for my new PC. When I got a sales person, he was friendly in greeting me and proceeded to ask me what I thought were friendly questions on what I was planning on doing with the new processor. I explained to him that I am planning on eventually getting a new motherboard and memory when the prices are right. What he heard was, "Sell me a motherboard and memory." At that point, I figured that he wanted to help me out by offering me some advice. But after I politely declined his recommendations, he said to me. "You know, we [each sales] person, get rated on how well we sell more than one component. I really hope that you buy more than just the processor. We lose money on this sale and although I've told the store that they shouldn't sell it at this price, they don't listen to me. I have to walk you through a questionnaire now... The probing continued... How about anti-virus software? How about a light fan?" Each time I declined his up-sell, he started to get more and more agitated both in his tone and body language. So, during this time, I'm thinking to myself, why in the world is this MY problem and WHY is he turning this into a personal matter. Should I call the store manager? Should I just walk out? This was my first on site visit to a Micro Center, so I certainly did not expect this treatment. After the battering of questions stopped, he brought me to the front of the store where the processors where hidden in a side room. He disappeared for about a total of 10 or 15 minutes as he supposedly was looking for someone with the key to the processor closet. Mercifully, he brought me to the check out line and with a final parting blow told me not to come back for at least a year as Micro Center would not sell me another processor to upgrade my system. Is that a store policy? Geez. No where in the advertisements did it state that there was a minimum purchase necessary. With this crappy experience, wild horses couldn't drag me back into one of those stores. Tell your friends, co-workers, and family, I strongly recommend not to stop by a Micro Center unless you like to be man handled, or are made out of money. I guess that's why their parking lot was empty and Fry's is typically full. If you know what you are looking for, try Fry's or Tiger Direct. Forget about Micro Center and their overly aggressive up-selling. read more

Computers are my thing and when I go to MicroCenter, I know what I'm getting. So I'll let others say what they want about customer service. Retail is retail and this is a big store. So if you come at a busy time, don't complain. I'm pretty tech savvy and generally prefer to dig for my info online rather than ask questions. But there were a few times I've asked technical questions about some items and was quite impressed by the answers. Obviously, those hanging around specific departments are going to be more knowledgeable than those on the floor. If you're not going to give MicroCenter 4-5 stars, you're not going to give any big computer store 5 stars. The bottom line is MicroCenter is as close as you'll get to the Internet in your backyard... until Amazon sends those drones to our front doors that is. CD and DVD media and cases are as cheap as you'll find online or less - without the shipping. Personally I go there to buy those sorts of things and computer parts / drives when in a bind. And the employees have always helped me load up boxes full of media when needed. The big items (computers, displays, cameras etc) I generally buy online because I like the variety and seeing all the reviews and knowing I'm getting the most up-to-date item. And I hate searching around retail stores. But they really are a nice combination of Best Buy and Radioshack - in that they have all the new stuff and also all the parts nobody else has - all at great prices. The only minor annoyance is that the salespeople have to put their sticker on every single item of yours for their commission. One day I'm sure they'll figure how to scan the comm barcode once and apply to the whole purchase, but honestly if I'm making a big purchase I'm not in a huge hurry. Oh, and it's not easy to get someone to answer the phone if you call first. But I go there, out of my way, for a reason. I like their prices and I like their selection. I applaud them for that and sticking around when so many others have gone under. I'd much rather have them than not have them around. And I'm sure those others with negative comments would agree despite their ungrateful urge to only share the bad. My opinion is if you wouldn't have written a review had you been satisfied, you have no right to do so if you're unhappy. It's basic Internet etiquette. read more

I went to Micro Center on the advice of one of my children to seek advice about a CPU fan that had failed on my computer. Knowing that Best Buy would ship my computer off to another state for this repair and the fact that I would be without my computer for more than a week, I was happy to have my computer cleaned and repaired in under one hour. Every sales associate I spoke with while I waited for my repair to be complete was knowledgeable and friendly. The people in this organization make this business stellar. Best deals, better than online plus you get to look at it in person before buying. They have to limit your purchases to keep people from buying out hot deals and reselling them on ebay. Sales reps are informative, managers randomly shake your hand. If you had a problem installing a computer part or it just didnt fit. They will offer to put it on for you(for a fee) or they refund you with very few questions asked. Even without all the boxes manuals and screws. Ive never had a computer part or electronic malfunction on me and ive been going since 2008. read more

im a longtime customer and up until now somewhat satisfied.UNTIL i purchased a wacom cintiq 13hd, i wanted the open box model that was listed @$809.99, they were unable to locate it so in a moment of ignorance i opted for the the new one @ $899.99. paid for it. got it home[ nearly an hour away] come to find out, i was sold the grimy open box model for full price. not good. called their BS service line... zero help. some kid with no service ability just stated i need to bring it back for them to inspect. well lets inspect my refund bruh. its $786.00 on amazon. Once again stymied by the lack of a 'no stars' option... My daughter's MacBook needs a new battery, so I call Apple and they tell me it's going to take a week or so to have one installed. We bought her MacBook at MicroCenter, (complete with an extended warranty that expired last month), so I called them and was quoted $79.00 for the battery and $39.00 for the tech to put it in; should take about two hours. She has to be at school in 2 weeks, so I'm off to Westmont. I got to MC and walk up to the service counter, and tell the guy I need a new battery. "Oh, that's back in the Apple Dept." So I go to the Apple Dept., and tell that guy I need a battery. He points to where I can find one, then tells me to wait and scurries off to get it for me, being sure to put his commission sticker on it before he hands it to me. When I tell him that I need it installed, he says "Oh, that's up in Service". Back at Service I'm told $107.00 for the battery (which I had to pay for before they could install it), and $50.00 for the install. When I point out that I was quoted a different price for both I'm told that "...the call center is in Ohio, so we can't control what they say and they don't really know what we charge..." He goes back to talk to the tech, tho, who agrees to "...knock off $10.00 for the confusion..." No confusion, I was quoted $39.00. Later that afternoon when I pick it up I'm told that they tried 3 batteries before they got one to work; the battery the Apple guy gave me was for the wrong model, the 2nd battery wouldn't power up, but this 3rd one "...should be fine, it tested out OK." But I'm assured that if there are any problems (in the next 90 days), just bring it back and they'll fix it right away. Also, the 3rd battery was only $97.00 so I'll get some cash back from the first one (107.00 minus 97.00 equals 10 bucks, right? No... 2 bucks). BTW, the guy in the Apple dept. grabbed the most expensive battery they sold... gotta make that sticker work for him. Whatever. Got the new battery, so she's ready for school. Nope. I don't think that the Apple spec for that battery is to lose 40% of it's charge in 20 minutes. She's cycled the new battery a few times (as in more than twice) and it performs worse than the one they replaced. So... back out to Westmont. More to come. read more

I needed my iPhone 6 battery replaced. I saw on Apples website that micro center was an authorized service provider. I called microcenter and asked them if they do this service, do I need reservations, and how long it would take. The person I spoke with told me they did, I didn't need reservations, and that it would take ten minutes. I drove special to this location as it is nowhere near my home. The woman at the service counter said they could only send it out for repair but they don't have the tools to fix it onsite. I told her about my experience on the phone. She apologized for the call center misleading me but reiterated they don't have the tools onsite. She recommended trying a screen repair place or the actual Apple store. She offered to get a manager since I was disappointed but I declined as it really wouldn't help me get service I needed. While she was apologetic and nice, my trip was a complete waste of time. read more

I bought an ASUS ROG G20 desktop computer a couple a months ago and it's been great. It's small and slim and performs very well. It's both affordable and exceptional. The processor is a 4th gen Intel core i7 that runs really quiet and does not face any heating issues like the other computers I had before. This desk features integrated WiFi and Bluetooth. As for the graphic card, an Nvidia Ge-force CTX 1070, It has demonstrated that it can run the must demanding games. This desktop is specifically to be used for games as well as for office work. If you're looking for a home computer that does both games and work I recommend the ASUS ROG G20. read more

I placed my order online. ALL the items were IN stock and ALL 18 minute "ready" After an hour of not receiving my confirmation email I decided to call the store,. My $1,000 online purchase just vanished into thin air. Received NOTHING but excuses from mumbling employees. After about an hour of being transferred around, I asked to speak to a manager. The employee covered the phone with their hand and I heard the manager tell them that he was going to lunch first!! He had a NEW customer, with a MISSING $1,000 order and he was going to lunch FIRST!!! After 4 HOURS!!! of being jerked around, I FINALLY got them to locate my order. When I was informed online that it would only take 18 MINUTES!!!!. Once I got home I noticed the harddrive I ordered was broken. The operating system was not the correct one either. This is the WORST experience I have EVER had and any store I have ever been to. THE WORST EXPERIENCE!!!!!!! I am speechless,. honestly baffled at their performance and how I was treated. read more

One of my favorite stores happens to be Microcenter. I would rather come here to purchase computer components then use an online only store. The staff is helpful without being pushy; I'm a regular at the store plus I work in IT Site Support, so they know that unless I ask for help that I'm good. What I like about the store is the selection of older PC components that no other brick and mortar store carries; it definitely helps when I'm working on someone's older computer and need readily available parts the same day. Prices are good and they do price match online retailers as well as their competitors in brick and mortar locations. Their open box selection is good too, and any time that I've bought an open box item, I've never had an issue with it. Great overall selection of products. I used to drive 40 miles one way to come shop here; now I'm only 13 miles away which definitely helps. read more

I called their STORE phone number, which is listed on their website, and asked about a G-Sync monitor that I was looking for. This specific type of technology in this monitor needs to be seen in-game, in person in order to see the effect. I was told by the person on the phone that it was in stock. I asked if there were games/demos to play around with in order to see the monitor in action. The person on the line confirmed that there were. I drove 25 miles to go check this product out. When I finally found the monitor I was looking for, I noticed that there weren't any demos, videos, games, or anything to test out. I asked an employee about this and was told that the number I called, which was listed with a local area code, was actually their version of an 800 hotline number. Besides being fed misinformation over the phone and wasting my time/gas going out to the store to check this expensive item out, I am more annoyed with the presentation of the products at this location. The monitor I was looking at costs upwards of $700 and there is no way to see how it operates. Even Best Buy has demos on their computers and HDTV's in order to show off the features of their products. It came off as really ill-prepared for something this expensive, especially when the G-Sync technology that costs a hefty premium is only apparent when playing PC games. I'll also note that this store looks like a hurricane swept through the aisles. Products are strewn everywhere. This location looked like a bad mix between Office Max and Wal-Mart. Given the quality of the items they sell, I'm really surprised that this is acceptable. read more

I brought my laptop into Micro Center for repairs, which was under warranty. My brother who is a computer programmer said it was a hard drive problem, which is exactly what the warranty covered. We wrote down the serial number of the hard drive just in case. When I got the laptop back, MicroCenter charged me $120 for diagnostics and software rebooting, not covered under warranty. But when I opened up the hard drive I noticed that they had replaced the hard drive as the serial number was different. They are the computer version of shady car mechanics that rip you off rather than own up to their own faulty equipment. No response yet from BBB as I filed a complaint, and no response back from the letters sent to corporate. read more

I really like Microcenter. The staff is very knowledgeable and has helped me make some excellent choices when building my PCs. They also stand behind their product lines. A good example was when I bought a Motherboard (MB) for a PC build. The MB had a MANUFACTURER rebate which I mailed. The rebate never came. I talked to the staff at Microcenter and they contacted their Corporate Office. I couldn't belive my eyes when I opened a letter from Microcenter that contained the rebate - Microcenter paid for it (not the manufacturer). The accompanying letter was also very nice. I go out of my way to shop at this store. I recently bought a tablet there which was $20.00 cheaper at Walmart. I showed Microcenter the ad and they matched the price with no hassle. I went in the store knowing exactly what computer I wanted, seemed to be lots of workers however no one approached me... I won't hold it against them because usually I would like to be left alone, just so happens that this time, I wanted to go in and leave ASAP. When I approached a very handsome gentleman, I believe his name was Tyler, I thought, oh no... he is going to be full of himself and his customer service is going to be horrible... So not true, he was super friendly and he also gave me the good news that the computer I was looking at online was not only $20 cheaper, it also had higher end specs than I expected. He even brought a cart for me so I wouldn't have to lug this huge box around to checkout (even though I am a guy). As I was purchasing the computer a manager came out, introduced himself, shook my hand and asked me if I had all my questions answered and if he could do anything else for me. Recently purchased I pad 2 here and this store was new to me. It was pretty new to me that store like Microcenter maintain old time value like friendliness and family own business like environment. After good experience with this store I ordered computer online and waited two weeks for shipment. It wasn't arriving so I called the customer service and they weren't answering the phone. I chatted online and they said it's out of stock. So I wasted two weeks to find out that it's out of stock. No e-mail was sent for two weeks and I find out it's out of stock. Then I wanted to cancel the order. But for two days I cannot cancel the order. This is terrible. They said that they have no way of knowing that it will be cancelled because with their process they have to send paper work to their warehouse and that takes more than two days??? Now I think this place has terrible customer service and basically rips people off with scam. Problem #1: they could let their customer know something is out of stock before ordering like other stores. Problem #2: they could generate e-mail to someone who waited two weeks for order to come. Problem #3: they should be apologizing and canceling their order immediately if things are not going right. Problem #4 their customer service is a long waiting. Never returning here. read more

I would give this store a solid 3-star rating. Not exceptional except for the cheaper prices. If you know what you want and need, all the better ... maybe. The iGo Green power cord for my laptop that I had bought at Fry's went out and they no longer carried it. Someone who works with electronics recommended this store. I got the iGo Green power cord and the salesperson hooked it up. It worked but sporadically. I bought it anyway and ended up returning it the next day for that reason. I ended up swapping out that one for another of the same brand and figured out at home that the iGo Green power cord now featured a sleep monitor button that you have to reactivate to get power back. The staff didn't know about that feature and suggested that it might be my "old computer". I explained about my discovery and that I would even buy back my original purchase because nothing was wrong with it and I could have used it as a spare. It had already been returned to the manufacturer. The sales staff doesn't seem to know the products all that well. I can imagine it is hard to keep up with newer models, but that's a good reason to listen to the experiences of customers. read more

I always go to Micro Center to purchase my products because I've found the best deals and the kindest people there. I recently bought a laptop, and while I was cleaning under the keys accidentally knocked off my "s" key - I am a special monkey when it comes to electronics. Try as I might to get the key back onto the keyboard, it could not be done with my sausage fingers and little patience. I brought in the laptop to the service center, and they explained how it was a much more difficult computer key than usual and weren't sure if they could even get the key back on. They took it in the back regardless, I had to wait 15 minutes while Bob fiddled around with it, and then they brought it out good as new! They didn't even charge me for the service. Everyone is very helpful there and always willing to take the time to explain what is most likely some very basic computer knowledge and what I should be doing! Love this place. read more
