I needed to get a large poster printed from an image that had a non-standard aspect ratio. I fussed looking at the Usual Competitors, I looked online and there were problems and deficiencies with all of them. Their previews came out all wrong. I came across OD, ran through the set-up process and it all looked good. Took a chance and submitted. Turn around was about two hours! Drove over to the store to pick up. Poster came out absolutely beautiful. Spot-on resolution. Staff was very friendly and helpful as well. They have a very large area for their printing services so likely will handle larger, more involved jobs than my one humble poster. Very happy. read more

i needed a color print . it snowed , they closed all the librarys . we googled and i called ups store . a young man informed me " our printer isnt really workin now " i inquired more to try and determine , but he recomended it was not worth my trip , which i informed him this was my choice and i was also headed that way . we did not call office depot . the website was a no brainer . it was not cheap , they wanted me to laminate it , and that ended up costing almost 4 dollars for one print . the staff was very helpful,they yelled from the service desk as it was a snow day and there was no one out " may we help you" . they got the print which it had 30 bubbles in the laminate , some where dime sized . the clerk , after some back and forth re-printed the copy , i asked him if we could by pass the laminate . he informed me the reason the laminate had 30 bubbles was because i had chosen a gloss print . i asked him to print it with out laminate and if he could refund the difference. so we got 3 dollars back . when he handed me the first bubbled print he said " ok its all good" or something like " these are not the droids" my spidey sense went off . so i poened the taped bag and removed the print . i have no idea , why he would have thought i would be cool with a print that looked like the lunar surface . it did take negotiation , i did not feel like i was welcome .i was extremely friendly this whole time . not sure why this sort of thing would happen on a day when NO one was out . literally , everything was shut down from the snow , but i did end up getting what i needed after having to deal with rude help . his initials are BH . if you are goping to office depot for prints , its a great service . we could have had them take it out to the car for us as they offer curbside , we didnt . but i get treated like a leper , because i chose to be friendly . this is why yelp exists . thank you yelp . no thank you BH , i worked in retail , i met my wife when we both worked in retail . thats not how you treat people when you are on the clock . even if you are quite a bit larger than them . read more

I usually leave a review for exceptional services, Sometimes exceptionally good, sometimes exceptionally bad. This particular Office Depot is EXCEPTIONALLY GREAT! I did not have an "off the rack" problem so I knew this trip into the Downers Grove Office Depot was going to take some delicate handling and Rick, the manager came thru with flying colors. He even surpassed corporate and for his help, he's won a loyal customer. I will have to travel 30 miles farther than my local O.D. but with the "service with a smile" and a "Let's make this happen and make our customers happy" kind of attitude, you gals and guys who work there are the best!!! Based on other Office Depot reviews, there's truly something magical going on at the Downers Grove store. Corporate and regional managers should learn and train under this guy. THANKS!!!!! read more

This was my go-to school supply Mecca for my entire childhood. This Office Depot is right on Ogden Ave., conveniently located right between Downers Grove and Westmont. You know, so everyone can come on in and do some sweet shopping. Store personnel are always polite and there's always good deals to be found. I came in here for some back-to-school shopping this year and those really awesome Mr. Sketch smelly markers for only $3.99! They were on sale from $7.99. That's a sweet deal - and who doesn't love Mr. Sketch markers? I totally missed those things. Office Depot is one of the only large chain stores that carry them, too. Couldn't find anything at Michael's, JoAnn, etc. Good for you, Office Depot. This store is always clean and everything is organized and easy to find. Hopefully, this was just an exclusive experience. I was excited to be able to knock out two errands at the same time as I had to mail a package and do grocery shopping (at TJ's) while toting along my two small kids. I thought I'd mail the package first and then do the shopping. I walked over to the shipping area where an employee ignored me for a bit until I got her attention. As it was, she was helping another customer (not obvious), but instead of kindly informing me of that, she was snarky and rude. Then another employee came to help, and I asked a question about shipping. I swear, he must have been checking Facebook or reading the news because it took him about 20 minutes of staring at the screen to give me a short answer, one the other employee knew off hand and wouldn't answer because she was helping someone else. Meanwhile, my kids turn into trolls out of boredom. At that point, I was so wanting to get the job done and get out of there that I said., let's just ship it. He turned the screen around told me to fill out the data and walked away, telling me he would return. Ok. Now I'm waiting another 10 minutes for him to come when I finally just blew out of there and shipped it elsewhere. What a waste of time that left me in a bad mood. I'll stick with stores that just focus on shipping from now on. read more

I'd give more stores if I could I've been searching for a product that does not exist....a large planning calendar. I've been on line and to several office supply stores and teacher stores. Couldn't find what I needed and no one seemed too anxious to help me out. Tara, at Office Depot, was outstanding. She helped me design the very simple, but necessary item I needed. I almost apologetically told her I needed it by 8:00 a.m. Monday morning --- she got the job done for me TODAY. So pleased with the service. Matt did an awesome job binding my Beatles piano songbook. Way above and beyond the call of duty. This is a thick book, not easy to apply spiral binding to, and it wouldn't stay open on the piano. Several phone calls and some trial and error resulted in a very successful project. read more

I used their curbside pick-up service today and had a great experience. My order was filled super fast and I received an email telling me it was ready to pick up. I arrived at the store, used their email button to let them know I was there and my order was brought to my car in less than ten minutes The person who brought my purchase out to my car was really pleasant. I just moved into the neighborhood and decided to go to the Office Depot for some supplies for work. When I walked into the store I was immediately greeted by a small man who started talking to me about his brother. It was kinda weird what he was saying, but he was a super nice gentleman! I asked the man where some supplies were and he wasn't totally sure so he called another employee over who helped me out! They walked me over to what I needed and we chatted while I was browsing! I don't rate places one star without putting much thought and many trips into it, but this place certainly deserves just one. My first experience here I was purchasing a laminator, and the person helping me was very helpful and very informative. He spent a lot of time with me and was detailed in the process which I appreciated. What I didn't appreciate was how hard he pushed me to do the costumer survey afterwords. I would have said that visit as a whole would have been a three star because the man was helpful albeit a tad arrogant, but what set me off was the survey afterwords, I didn't want to fill it out, but felt bullied into doing so. My next visit there I was going to have a posted laminated, the guy told me I would have to come back in a couple of hours to get the poster, when I returned the kid informed me that they had run out of plastic and were unable to do so. Not anyones fault, but no one bothered to call me. I decided to leave the poster there and the next day they got the plastic and called me when it was done. The total for the poster was $12 which I thought was expensive, but I needed it done. The next weekend I needed a poster of the same size laminated, but I happened to be shopping around the Lombard location, and thought I would get it laminated there. They did it while I waited, maybe 15 minutes, and only charged me $6. I even asked if the plastic was the same thickness of the previous poster, and it was; both 3mm! The great time I had at the Lombard location left a bad taste in my mouth for the Downers location. Lombard has since saved me a lot of money with being way more reasonable in their lamination prices! I recently had to run into the Downers location for book rings. Upon walking in I am asked if I need help, and I asked for the book rings. The manager was snarky which I didn't appreciate. I then get to the book rings, and they're priced at 12 for $4.19, which is an INSANE price, but I desperately needed them, so I sucked it up. I got home, went to put my notecards on the rings, and 2 of the 12 will not close, at all. With how much these things cost I find it to be a huge deal that not even 85% of the rings in the bag work. Needless to say I will not shop here anymore, and I will certainly not have anything laminated by them ever again. The store overall also has a very unfriendly/geeky vibe, the workers are rude, and more than half the times I've gone in I've gotten the creeps from the men. No more for me, and I highly suggest the other location, the managers are respectful, and the prices are better. read more

I just wanted to let people know that when you visit this store and they tell you any information like a timeline or a guarantee with respect to items in store, that this place is a HUGE disappointment. Also when i question why something wasn't ready when i was told at time of purchase, the gentleman on the phone was just making up estimates, if i would have known that this place doesn't follow through based on the salesguys on the floow, i would have shopped at another electronic/supply store. Just know if you choose to visit this Office dept that associates will not be honest with you as a customer. So all in all, don't waste your time or money. read more
