I decided to leave a review because 3.5 stars seems incredibly unfair based on my experiences at the Sharonville location. I have always been treated with courtesy and respect. Warranty items I have needed replaced have been done so without question and as hassle free as is humanly possible. When I had wanted to collect one of the free flash drives they sometimes have for a 128gb drive they had run out and ended up giving me a 256gb drive instead. They did initially offer a 64 and honestly, I probably should have cut them a break and taken that one. I would have been happy with a rain check for the 128 but they went above and beyond with the 256. My opinion is extremely high of this store. It is my favorite place to go in person for electronics. read more

The sales people are pushy. They want you to buy from them. That's why they label your purchases with an ID that relates the sale back to them. There was ONE person that worked with from 2002 until he left, probably 2018 ish. Great guy. Would listen, then show options, not push for XYZ and unload with the "benefits" of purchases that are fully first world luxury items. The past few years - back to people who will tell you that whatever is in your hand is perfect for you if they think that is what your socioeconomic status can afford. Outside of that, their prices are reasonable, not competitive. The checkout line takes forever, even if there are only one or two people in front as they don't monitor the length of the line and then get sales people to the register with any kind of expediency. It's a fun trip to see a vast accumulation of tech. But it's not so fun when I expect to see someone with a cattle prod come around the corner, looking a bit like someone from Falling Down, expecting me to let them sticker my box to receive sale credit even though they didn't help me select it. And, yes, I agree with the other posts: their service department is...atrocious. If they do know what they're doing, perhaps it's management (fiscal pressures) that don't let them do their jobs, fully. If you go to them expecting any sort of accurate diagnosis with your hardware problem, not to mention fixing it: it's probably better to figure it out yourself if you have that aptitude. If you have a warranty - easy peasy. They give you a gift card and you go to town and get whatever it is you need when your thing breaks. And, of course, warranty sales are VERY important to the sales people. You'll hear about it several times from several people with any purchase from 50 bucks and up. read more

Longtime customer for business and personal use. Not the point, but when I am on the website and put in a request for hold and watch the system process it as it was only one in stock.got my confirmation that they received the request to hold item. I got back on the website right after to look at something else, and the laptop was not available no more in inventory. Waiting on my email for item ready for pick up 20 minutes later and got an email telling me my order had been cancelled. i called and got someone on the phone to be told that "someone else had put it on hold before me". So if it pulls it out of number of stock when i put it on hold how is that possible??? All i got was the run around and told if they didn't purchase it by end of the day it would be added back to inventory and i could try and reserve it again tomorrow. So if when you put on item on hold if it pulls from inventory and will no longer allow holds on the website, how did someone else put it on hold before me? IT allowed me to do it, i have the confirmation and then they cancelled it. Not happy as price was good and of course no more in stock and not replenished. Was told it would take a a few days to have it checked out. 2 Days later received test message from technician that he was going to start on my PC. Just over 1 hour later the technician (David) said we believes he found the problem and fixed it. Picked up the PC, brought it home, turned it on, and INDEED it is now working properly. I brought in my computer that had a simple hardware issue that I wanted to get diagnosed. The customer service was terrible, I could hear them talking about me pretty harshly in the back. Then days later they tell me that the power supply made a pop and shorted. They said the motherboard and ram were bricked as a result. I had been troubleshooting the machine for days and hadn't had any issues or weird noises, they say it happened when they just turned it on. They are so fishy I do not believe them. While some of their products are good. I purchased an Acer laptop from them in May 2025. In September 2025 it got stuck in sleep mode and we brought it back. They would not exchange it or give us our money back, we had to use our warranty to get it fixed. We are STILL waiting for my laptop and it's now DECEMBER! They have replaced just about every part and keep ordering parts without telling me specifics and they bump my repair to the back of the line every time they get more parts in! I admit, I am a nerd. I love nerd stores, nerd culture, hanging out with nerds, building nerdy things. The only bad thing I have to say about it is that there's no Micro Center closer to Dayton, and I do believe there's an untapped and vastly underserved nerd community there, but I would probably be a homeless nerd with a ton of cool DIY gadgets as I would end up broke from spending all of my money at Micro Center. No joke...I have spent a lot here, and I don't regret it. Ok, nerd jokes aside I absolutely love this place. The only thing I believe they've not been able to find were some oddball connectors I needed for a nerd project. But the truth is, I've found nearly everything I've needed every time I've come out here. Tonight, I was searching for some black PLA Tough filament (which is apparently an extremely popular color in a plastic that's oddly getting harder to find outside of Micro Center), which they finally had some in the shelves tonight! The one thing I have not seen, and I believe it would increase the customer base, is a "makers room." Seriously. A room with a dozen powered workbenches and some vending machines that would allow folks to build some projects. I don't know how that would all work out, but I do believe there's potential for some maker space to be a profitable endeavor. That thought aside, I love this store and will keep coming back. People wonder why brick and mortar retail is dying. It's because of stores like this and the people that work here. Went on line to check stock and locations for the items I wanted. I arrived at the store and nothing was where it was. Many of the associates were busy and the few I found gave me the almost identical answer (like it was memorized from a trading manual), "I am sorry I can't help you, you'll have to wait and ask another associate." The associates that were helping other people had LINES of folks waiting for help as they shot the sh!t with over folks about the woes of customized water cooling. Came in the store 8/13/25 1:00p.m Was looking to purchase a gaming monitor everyone of the customer service reps were busy except a few. I continue to look around, checking prices and brands waiting for someone to free up to help me. Once a customer rep did free up they went to other customers. No one asked me. Did I need any help? I walked around for 30 minutes waiting. I proceeded to ask for a when the Eric came I tried to describe to him my issue, he instantly got aggressive with me and loud. I pulled my money out to show him. I was a paying customer and was willing to purchase items, despite how I looked. He continue to get loud with me and told me to get out of his store before he trespass me. I left and went to the front of the store and explain to another customer my issue. Went their for the Raspberry Pi and the prices were marked wrong but rang up right. I couldn't find the Zero W on sale and when I asked for help the guy said all their Pi's were in the locked case and walked off... so didn't ask if I needed help getting one but it was only the 4's. Antitrust Violation? My wife and I went to Microcenter in Sharonville, OH to purchase a keyboard and a scanner for our Tax Firm. When my wife and I were walking away with the scanner in our cart, the sales rep seemed unusually nervous about whether all the appropriate cables were included, despite the scanner being presumably brand new. We found this behavior odd but didn't think much of it at the time. Upon bringing the scanner home to use for our project, I noticed subtle hints that it may have been used. Someone had clearly taken great care to make it appear new, whether it was Microcenter or a previous customer who returned it deceptively. Despite the careful disguise, the scanner did not work, confirming my suspicion that it was indeed used. After extensive research, I discovered evidence suggesting Microcenter has possibly engaged in this behavior for at least seven years. Other customers have reported similar experiences of receiving refurbished items sold as new. This is deeply troubling and raises serious concerns about their business practices. When I called the store manager to address the issue, he looked up the scanner's serial number and confirmed that it had been purchased on 05/14/2024 and returned on 05/18/2024. How did it end up back on the shelf? This was a clear failure on Microcenter's part. If the information was accessible in their system, there is no excuse for selling it as new. After all this, they offered a discount on the product or an alternative. This response was inadequate, as it failed to address the root of the problem: selling a used item as new. This experience has shaken my trust in Microcenter. If they can easily verify a product's history, such issues should never occur. Microcenter needs to take immediate steps to ensure that this does not happen to other customers. Selling used items as new is deceptive and unacceptable. I hope they take this feedback seriously and make the necessary changes to restore consumer trust. While dealing with the significant issue regarding the defective scanner I posted about, I noticed several systemic problems that severely impacted our experience while shopping there. To say the least, as a Tech Youtube "junkie", who has only ever heard Microcenter praised by some of my favorite content creators, these systematic issues were disheartening: 1. Commission-Based Sales Structure While at the Microcenter, it was painfully evident how stressed the employees were due to their commission-based pay structure. They earn a base rate of around $4/hour, with the rest of their income coming from commissions on what they sell. This system creates an environment where sales reps are constantly weighing whether or not to assist customers based on the likelihood of making a sale. This resulted in poor support and an awkward interaction when I attempted to exchange a keyboard. The sales rep was hesitant to assist us because the commission for the new keyboard would go to the original salesperson, who was on lunch. He eventually helped us but only after trying to sell us a warranty to earn some commission for himself. This outdated system makes the customer experience uncomfortable and inefficient. Employees must constantly worry about their paychecks, which can fluctuate significantly, making it hard for them to support themselves and their families. When I mentioned this issue to the manager during my previous complaint about the defective scanner, he defended the system, claiming it incentivizes employees to provide better service. However, from my experience, it does the opposite. 2. Inefficient Call Routing System Another major issue is Microcenter's phone system. You cannot call the local store directly; all calls are routed through a national call center, even if the local store calls you first. This is incredibly frustrating, especially when dealing with specific issues like the defective scanner I mentioned in my previous review. The lack of direct communication with the local store adds unnecessary complications and delays to resolving problems. Overall, my experiences with both the sales and support systems at Microcenter have been extremely disappointing. The commission-based pay structure creates a stressful environment for employees and a poor experience for customers. The inefficient call routing system further exacerbates these issues. Until these systemic problems are addressed, I cannot recommend Microcenter to others. I've had far better experiences at other retailers like Best Buy, where the focus seems to be more on customer satisfaction rather than just making a sale. Which is insane to me as I do not believe the reps are paid enough at Best Buy. The first time I came here was in October. I had a fantastic experience and was able to get all of the computer supplies/setup I needed for a new gaming rig. The staff was pretty knowledgeable, and if the person that originally was helping you didn't know the answer they weren't afraid to ask someone else. Their prices are competitive and the products are of good quality. I would highly recommend coming here even if it just to look around at all of the awesome tech. Thankfully, there was an associate available to help me find an SSD card. I got the SSD card and was through the check out line at a swift pace. However, when I got home, I realized I had purchased the WRONG item. I went back to Micro Center, got the correct SSD card, and was able to make the exchange at the register. I have been shopping here for 11 years now, I can't believe this is my first check in. I love this place, I buy almost all of my electronic items here. I have built more than one computer from parts, I have bought complete computers, laptops and random hardware as well as accessories. Generally if you need something electronic or electronic related items they have it. So why after all my praise only 4 stars, well generally you have stand in long lines to check out, you also have to find someone to help you find things. Sadly unless you know exactly what you need you may have to just find it yourself. But I will say they have almost everything. Not sure if it is their fault, but I hate the exit out of the parking lot as there is not lines for Straight, right or left turns, so it is kind of a free for all when leaving via the light. read more

There's never a good time for laptop issues! Mine stopped charging. After some amateur troubleshooting, I decided it was the adapter and I needed a new one. Thankfully, Micro Center isn't far away and with fingers crossed, I set off to see if they had what I needed. The gentleman at the entrance knew exactly which aisle I needed and when I found it, a knowledgeable associate named Jacob quickly found the right item and included three different prices based on how quickly they would charge. He then helped me get a new lightening cable for my iPhone. The store was busy and the check out line long. But the associates were all helpful and friendly. I love this store! I used to drive out of the way to avoid other big box stores to come to this location specifically. This store has everything you need to build a computer or buy an accessory. I have built multiple PCs from parts purchased at this Micro Center. Each and every time an associate has been helpful, if not instrumental, in several purchases I have made. My most recent build last summer went the smoothest. I was able to buy every piece in one trip and came prepared with a list of items in stock found on their website. Finding help during this visit was pretty easy as this location is heavily staffed. I was able to locate an associate to get items that were located in the back. I was in and out of the store fairly quickly with my purchases and on to my afternoon task of building the PC. My most recent visit a week ago was purchasing two new desktop monitors. For the first time, I was not approached by an associate. I knew which monitors I wanted to purchase, but was having difficulty finding them in the monitor area. The store was fairly packed for a Sunday night an hour before closing (not sure if I missed a major sale?!) and each associate I saw was engaged with a customer. I was surprised that the store was so packed given COVID (I've never seen it that packed before!). I wanted to get in and out since I knew the store was closing soon and wanted to avoid unnecessary exposure with the crowds. I did end up finding the monitors I needed after about 10 minutes or so of looking on my own. The line to check out was spaced out longer than usual due to COVID, but still the check out process went fairly quickly. I was in the store at most 25 minutes.
