Worst experience ever. I brought my Mac to these people because it has been locking up for quite a bit lately. It only does this online and never with videos. The first "tech" ran you tube videos all day and said he had a problem with 2 sticks of the 12 Gigs of ram my iMac had. Tech stated that the problem was the ram and if I changed it then my problem would be solved. Against my better judgment I allowed him to change it and the next day after I got it back VOILA!! Froze up online. So I bring it back and they have another "tech" look at it. After a week I hear from this expert that proceeds to tell me the problem is actually my processor (an I3) is old and can't handle the processes I'm asking it to do (the only thing I do with my computer is internet related, i.e.: browsing and looking things up). He tells me that the only way to fix it is by changing the motherboard because they are integrated and you can't even do that because they are soldered to the machine. They refuse to refund the diagnostic fee even though they didn't diagnose the problem with the Mac. When I voiced my reservations to the repair manager (Andre) about their ability to properly diagnose a Mac he told me that it didn't matter because they have a relationship with Apple corporate and that Apple would continue to recommend Micro Center as a certified repair center. So the next day while going through the history I notice that the entire history was deleted from Safari for the time the computer was at Microcenter; including pages they were specifically told not to close. While my wife was searching through her Firefox history she found 12 different searches of Youtube and Yahoo on "how to stress a Mac CPU" along with other searches where the subject was how to fix my Mac. These clowns actually searched on my computer how to fix MY COMPUTER! The only reason you would delete the history was if you did not want someone to see what you were doing or where you were going. I have spoken to a Senior Level Apple technician and he has stated that while the I3 processor is a bit older it is by no means incapable of handling 15 open windows when the machine has 12 Gigs of ram. I urge you to stay far away from this place with your Mac because they are by no stretch of the imagination qualified to work on it. read more

Save your money and go to the Geek Squad or find a private person. I have a "vintage" IMAC that needed a new hard drive. The thing is in mint condition and nothing else was wrong with it except the hard drive. I brought it in for a new drive. I paid $60 for the service and $40 for the hard drive, which was a fair price. The first time i went check in to help was maybe 15 min. I picked up my pc the next day. There was no OS on it so when we turned it on all seemed well. But when I took it home and installed hte OS on it, the fan went crazy. There were NO other problems, especially not with the fan, when I brought it in. So the next weekend I lugged this 30-40 pound machine BACK to Paterson, waited about 40 minutes BEFORE anyone even saw me, only to be told that I would have to pay to have it diagnosed and if they found it was something they did, they would reimburse me. This company does NOT stand by their work. The manager, a woman whose name I didn't get, was completely useless and not willing to stand by the staff either (and her customer service attitude sucked). She was adamant that I needed to pay AGAIN, How was I going to prove whose caused the fan malfunction? All I can say is it was fine when I brought it to them and not fine when I got it back. I couldn't prove it either way, but the fact that the computer was there with the support sticker still on it from the week before should have been enough for them to say, ok we will look at it for free. If the fan just needs to be adjusted we will do it. There was no one above this useless manager willing to help me and it was about an hour of wasted time on a valuable Saturday afternoon so when she went in the back and didn't come out for 15 minutes, I took my computer and left. I will never, ever go back to them and I'd advise you to heed my warning. I will never give my business or hard earned money to a company that doesn't stand behind its work. I should also mention that I run a tech support desk for a large hedge fund, so I have plenty of experience fixing computers and this aspect of the business. I didn't want to do this one b/c on an imac the glass has to be taken off the front and I didn't want to risk ruining it since I am selling the computer (nor do i have the proper tools). Also, it was a busy saturday and they had 2 people on the customer service desk. One couple was there monopolizing the service guy's time for the ENTIRE 40 minutes that I was waiting to be seen. There were 10 people behind me by the time i left (you can see names on the screen while you are waiting). My mother, who was with me, went to find a store manager to ask that they put another person behind the desk to alleviate the line, was told someone had just gotten in but was so rude to her and said "it takes time for them to get ready." Again, I work in technical customer service, i'd be fired if I ever treated my users the way I was treated. Reading the other reviews I see I'm not the only one. There's a good change your experience could be similar. Save yourself the frustration and go somewhere else. read more

Went in just to pick up an online order, was expecting to not have a great experience from the other reviews I read. I get in and they had a small issue with my order, no one could find it at first. Then Matt H came along found it in just a couple minutes, took a look at my order and helped me get a better case and switched out the ram I was getting to save me about $20. Everyone as far as I could tell was at the very least competent as far as computers are concerned and the staff in the build your own department were exceptionally knowledgeable about everything from cpus to case sizing and part compatibility. It was my first time there but I will definitely be back when I want to upgrade again. Great overall experience. Just wish the parking situation was a little better as the parking lot is almost always full open to close from what I can see. read more

This store in Paterson has everything you need, but the service is so bad and the lines are almost always so long that it would be quicker to order what you need on Amazon and have it delivered. It's just not worth the aggravation anymore. The employees (the ones you can even find) don't care. When you have a question, they are so understaffed that they just keep walking. It is always a bad customer service experience....but people keep going there because they literally have everything you need when it comes to computers and electronics. I wish someone could recommend another option. I'm even willing to pay more to avoid the poor service and 30-minute plus wait in line. read more

Just had quite possibly the worst buying experience ever. Got a sale flyer email from these guys and decided to go in for a big screen. To begin with they didn't have anything that was on the sale flyer. Ok, whatever, I'll look around. After working with a young sales associate made a decision. He went in the back and they didn't have it, but they did have one that was a bit better and and a bit more expensive, ok fine. Got it home and after playing with the settings and different options just couldn't get a sharp enough picture. Middle of the road 4K model so I understand. Took it back with the intention of going high end to get what I wanted in a big TV. Got there and at least the return process was easy. Went back into the department and looked at basically the most expensive ones they had, spent about 45 minutes with a different associate settled on what I think was the most expensive one there. Pulled the trigger, guy goes in the back....they don't have it. Then I can either walk out or settle for a less expensive model. Decided to just complete my return transaction and leave. During the time it took to do the return instead of an exchange for a much more expensive item, no one approached me, no manager stopped by. Instead, basically a bunch of kids shrugging their shoulders as a disgruntled customer and a big$$$ sale walked out the door. I guess they are ok if you need a cable or something, but really would not recommend for any big ticket items. read more

I wonder why overall this place only has 2 1/2 stars? I have been there a few times and I have never had problems with the help fromm service reps or products. Over all when you go shopping you should no what you want, need, how much your willing to spend, and stick to it. I love looking online at refurbished and open box items. I'm gonna rate 5 stars hoping it bumps up there overall reviews. This place is like a mini costcos for electronics read more

Fantastic, efficient service with incredible deals/promotions. Huge and convenient store location for pick-up after reserving item online. Will definitely come back for another great buy and helpful service. read more

As others mentioned, you can't beat the price. Further, most of the staff seem fairly knowledgeable of the products and are willing to answer questions. However, the customer service and responsiveness is the worst I have ever seen. If you call, you must leave a message (which may never be returned) and cannot speak to a representative about returns, current inventory, reserving products, or technical questions about products. Also, their so called knowledge bar is filled with blunt, abrasive staff who yell at you if you are not immediately present when they call your number (it felt a lot like waiting at a DMV). My room mate also had an atrocious experience. He had a custom computer built by micro center (totaling more than $2,000) and they had neglected to install major part. So, he had to go back and get it fixed at which point they accused him of screwing everything up. Flash forward a week, and his computer began crashing and running very slowly. He brought back a total of three more times before he finally got so frustrated he just returned the whole damn thing. To top it off, they did not give a full refund because he didn't have the original box! read more

I dont understand the poor reviews- this place is great! So much nicer than those huge corporate computer places where you feel invisible, like a number, and utterly lost. We werent looking around for more than a couple minutes before a friendly face approached us, asked what she could help us find, and guided us toward the PC section to browse laptops. Dan helped us, never pushed a sale, plugged in all that we were interested in and needed (weight, thickness, price, OS, speed, storage, even color!), and walked us over to several models. He's been working there for a while (or at least in the industry), and knew what to suggest based on our needs! Also super nice and efficient. We also needed to return something and although there was a short line, the employee there was also nice. Store was clean, signage helped us navigate the store well, tax is 3.5%! read more

Horrible horrible customer service!! Waited on a pickup line for an hour to pick up a tv to be told I have to stand on a return line to pick it up.. It's a love hate relationship with this store. I refers to this as the West Coast Frys. Deals are great when offered but just make sure the product is not refurbished. It's a computer geeks dream when entering the store because the gadgets are lined up. I was able to score an I7 laptop for $600. You can't beat the 3% sales tax either. The reason for four stars is because I bought an ASUS transformer tablet. Tablet stop working less than a month but I was able to get a refund with no hassle. So why not five. The tablet was top of the line and had known problems which I believe was not disclosed. Buyer beware is all I have to say. read more

Felt I was scammed! Will never return to this place! I purchased a tablet from this place as a Christmas present. I was sold a warranty that said if anything happens to the device, I will get a replacement. 2 months later the device doesn't work. I go to return it and had to wait 20 minutes on the customer service line before I walked out! Not enough staffing at the customer service desk. I returned prepared to wait and was told that the tablets were out of stock and to check back in a few weeks. 2 months later (4 months after purchase) I go back and now they don't carry the same model!! They have a newer model which isn't covered under my warranty!! So I was told I had to pay the difference of $80! What the point of selling warranties that won't be honored?! This place is cheaper than most because the items are outdated or refurbished. If you want quality...go somewhere else! And don't go for the warranty! It doesn't cover anything!! Don't believe me? Just take a walk inside! The customer service line is always longer than the purchasing line!! More people with issues than people buying!! read more

I loved this store and talk it up to everyone but not anymore. I wasted over an hour trying to find the GPS units and hopting someone who works there might have a clue. First I asked the Customer Service person. She was completely disinterested and said to ask a manager whoever and whereever this person is and may be located. I then asked someone in a suit jacket with store name tag and she said they are in the television department. Then the guy in tv's said it was just past a certain sign, you know, where the GPS' aren't located. Aside from getting the wrong info from these people, I couldn't get anyone who was free to help me. I walked out and picked up a GPS at Staples. That experience only took five whole minutes. The sad part is that it would had saved time to had gone back home, bought it on-line then return than it is to shop when you're right there. Argh! read more

This place is the worst establishment I ever been too. All I wanted to do was drop my laptop to get my screen repaired which took two hours. When I finally talked with the technician he told me the cost will be $300. The next day another technician called and said the real cost is $500, now i have to drive 30 minutes back up to Paterson just to pick up a laptop they did not fix. This place needs to either get shutdown or hire new management because I will never recommend this place to anyone I love. The worst customer service everRR!! FYI i usually do not write reviews but I just had to with this one. read more

I came in and had a data backup for my MacBook by Microcenter a few days ago...they gave me an external hard drive with Mac compatibility only. I found out when I went back home and tried using it on my Windows computer - nothing was detected. I go back today and found out technician set up External Hard Drive for Mac only. Microcenter did that automatically, not calling me with updates on if I want Mac or Windows type of External Hard Drive. Incompetent sales associate and service bar manager blaming, re-iterating that the problem was my fault. Offered me a $30 discount on a mistake technician made when handling my old MacBook data...wanted me to pay $100 to format it again. Had a dispute about "logic" with service bar Manager and associates. They were rude and condescending, service was unprofessional and demeaning. Don't go here read more

Got to big too fast- this store would be fantastic if they hired about 3 times the staff. They are SEVERELY understaffed and it is starting to really hurt them. I have been a regular customer there since they opened and I always tried to give them the business over Newegg but I just can't anymore. The customer service has gone from good to horrific, and in their defense I would be pretty short if I was that overworked too. On nights when the service counter should have 6 people there is never more than one. Finding a salesguy who doesn't already have 10 people in line for him? good luck. They don't update the website accurately anymore so it says things are in stock weeks after they run out; the sales are inconsistent with the ads and email blasts (and they won't honor them)... just a shame. Like someone else on here said, the test is trying to call the store. I went in to buy a new laptop and open a credit account this week. After waiting nearly an hour to fill out the application I found out they had run out of the laptop I wanted ( as of today the website STILL says they have it in stock and ready for 18 min pickup). The salesguy gave me his card and told me to email him, he would let me know if it came in on the next day's shipment -so I went home and did just that. I never received an email back. I've tried calling, but IN TWO DAYS THEY HAVE NOT ANSWERED THE PHONE ONCE!!! doesn't matter what time you call, you are transferred to sales, it rings 10 times and then hangs up. Looks like I'm going back to Newegg- shame though. It would be nice if somebody else opened another PC store nearby. read more

While the staff did price match the Power Supply that I purchased with Amazons price, I was continuously disappointed with the staff during my visit todat. They are the most ignorant staff I have ever seen. They seem to work in slow motion. I walked up to the staff members, who were all huddled together talking rather than working, and I asked them about a motherboard I wanted to purchase. Instead of someone checking their stock, they merely glanced at each other and shrugged their shoulders. Next, I went to the knowledge bar to ask a question about a CPU I own, and I put my name in the reservation and waited. When I was next in line and the guy had finished, instead of talking to me next, he just started to put away files and organized behind the desk. It was almost as if he was trying to avoid me. I think both of these issues that I experienced today was because the staff only wants to talk to specific people, and when the staff did decide to talk to me, the talked down to me most likely due to my age. They assumed I knew nothing, but I am very knowledge about PCs. The store itself may have a wide selection, but a staff that actually CARED would be appreciated. read more

Don't bother ordering on line for pickup, their 18 minutes pickup may end up a 3 hour waist of time. You will spend 15 minutes checking their website for what you want and believe you found what you want and make the purchase. Now you wait for an hour to get the confirmation. you drive to the store that is another 15 minutes, then wait on line for 30 minutes to find that your order is not ready, you'll wait another 15 minutes for your order to arrive to the pickup window to find that the item they are trying to give you is open box not new, then spend another 20 minutes trying to get the correct item. It would have been faster if you checked their website for what you want and made sure they have enough of it in stock. drive down and pickup what you want yourself pay for it and go home. there you saved your self the aggravation and 2 hours of time. The 2 stars is simply for them having a large selection. read more

I went in today to buy 4 desktops at $479 per desktop. The one caveat was the price was limited to 1 per household. The salesman was very helpful and tried to have the 1 per household waived. He talked to a manager and the manager told him that they would give the $479 on 3 desktops and the fourth would be at full price. I left and then went home and bought the 4 desktops from Dell at $479 per desktop with free expedited shipping. What a mistake by Micro Center. They lost out on $1900. I won't be going back to them anytime soon. Double check their prices before buying. read more

I LIKE Micro Center. I REALLY DO!!! But C'mon, folks.....read your REVIEWS!! And GET the MESSAGE!! People generally LIKE the store, low tax zone, selection etc. - as long as you get the RIGHT PERSON, either Sales or Service, it seems. The STAFF needs to be better TRAINED, efficient, knowledgeable and professional- and are NOT always. I have had good experience w/sales staff in general. And the store- needs to be better managed and organized, it would seem. EX: Today I called just to find out the status of an iMac I have in for repair. 'My' tech was unavailable, and it took the person who answered my call ('M') about 10+ minutes and 3 separate times being put on hold just to find out A) If it was DONE, B) When I could pick it up WHEN my tech was available, and C) What the final CO$T WAS, which he never COULD tell me. Pretty sub-par. Another time I took the SAME unit in. Dead. THEY said it needed a New MOBO, but being now OUTDATED it was now unavailable from Apple. (And $500.+, btw). So I got a 2nd opinion. Turns out it was the power supply, NOT the motherboard at ALL. MY guy fixed it. Perhaps I should've gone BACK to him. But- maybe it was a fluke. They DO seem very efficient, Nice AND professional every time I've taken something in for repair. I just haven't had great luck with the end results always. Will I condemn the WHOLE STORE? Hell no. They have potential, and I'm SURE a lot of good, caring, and knowledgeable staff. They just need to be BETTER TRAINED and Consistent across the board, and held to a higher standard of courtesy and service, perhaps. The store could use some TOP-DOWN organization, too. And when they SEE problems with staff or whatever, like with some of the lackluster REVIEWS, ADDRESS them. Or hire/train better. I will KEEP going there, and HOPE the situation improves. It's THAT- or get a JOB there and illustrate how a professional tech WORKS. Hahahaha! (Only half kidding) read more

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! No one acknowledges you. I asked for help with GPS systems, simple question. I got sent to the back of the store and was told to "ask someone there" . I did... figured no big deal. As I asked someone in the back in the aisle i was told to ask "any guy in a white shirt in the middle of the store" so now I start to get mad and bite my tongue to kindly say thank you as I go back to the middle of the store. I ask a guy in a white shirt and he says "I will find someone for you, we took them all off of display because the display is non-functional" he then tells me to wait here and disappears for 5min. When he comes back he says "I texted someone to come help you." He MUST NOT BE CAPABLE of helping me with a GPS and the 6 other employees I see standing around bullshitting cant either, plus the other 2 I asked previously all must not be a GPS PROFESSIONAL hahaha. I just want to look at what they had and buy one. I was going to make a purchase! My total wait time since I first asked is now 15 minutes. (and still haven't seen or been shown or told where to find one). As he is standing around me chatting it up with some female employee, still not helping me, he turns to me and says "do you know which one you want?" I said nope that's why I am trying to look at them and decide! He says "well u just want a cheap one right?" I look at him stunned and say no I would like one that is useful and works, not the cheapest one you have. And to shock me more, he says "we wouldn't sell you a broken one sir". No kidding?? haha I meant one that has multiple options and is a help on the road! At this point I tell him never mind and leave the store with no purchase. Not one person stopped me. Not any of the 6 previous mentioned employees standing around doing nothing. My silly rant is over but really you couldn't display GPS systems? The display was NOT functional? You can put out thousands of dollars in tvs, cameras, and computers, for kids to touch and type on but not gps systems? read more

As a tech heavy person, I love this place. It's got everything New Egg and Tigerdirect have without the worry of ordering online. Although I do have to hand it to New Egg on their return policies, Microcenter matches their prices and you have it in your hand that day with no chance of delivery problems. I wouldn't count on the staff matching the expertise of an experienced techy or computer science grad, but they are helpful when you are looking for a deal or trying to find something in the store. Went in to Microcenter to purchase a graphics card. They did not have the one I wanted new, but noticed on their clearance rack the one I wanted was available as an open box. I went up front with the graphics card which was in protective wrap to inspect it to make sure it is in good condition and purchase. When I arrived up front, I asked the lady at the checkout if she could open it for me so I could check the condition. I was told that even though the box was already opened that I could only open it after I purchased it and that if it was not in good condition I could return it. At this point, I was just shocked that they would actually expect me to buy a used open box item without seeing it first, and asked again nicely if I could just see the item first. She replied, very rudely, that it is the store's policy to not allow the product to be opened until it is purchased. Again shocked, I asked to speak with a supervisor, who I found out was standing behind me the entire time but decided not to intervene. The supervisor then told me, very rudely, "It is the store policy, you need to buy it first". I replied, "That's fine, I will just go buy this elsewhere." The rude supervisor replied back "OK then" and rolled her eyes at the same time as she walked away. The interaction I had with Microcenter today is completely unacceptable. I am shocked that there were 4 employees, including a supervisor who were not dealing with customers and actively listening to this conversation, yet none of them decided to step in to make the situation right. If it is truly your policy to not allow customers to inspect an open box item before purchasing, then you should be ashamed of yourselves. This is not the first time I have had a bad experience with this company. I had called months earlier to corporate to let them know of their bad customer service dealings, which they obviously did not care to look into. The store is dirty, the items are not kept in order, the customer service is nonexistent, and when you ask for help in the store the employees try to hide from you. Even worse, when you go to the checkout counter to make a purchase, you are disrespected by employees AND management. It is evident that the problem at this store stems from the STORE MANAGER, as I have never been at the end of a good customer service encounter from the many purchases I have made from them. It is a shame that this company not only has no respect for the customer, but that they are enabled by the management team to provide such a poor level of customer service on all levels. To give you some background, I have worked in customer service for years. I have retail management experience and this goes against anything I have ever trained my employees. You should be disgusted by how your company treats customers at this location. I have visited Microcenter stores in Michigan and New York, and I have been treated with respect at each of these locations. read more

I just had a terrible experience buying Dell. I bought a "new" xps 13inch laptop last week on Saturday and used it for this past week but the screen was getting glitchy, flickering. So I returned it today for a new one. I brought that home and had trouble booting up. It finally booted up but couldn't connect to wifi. I ran troubleshooting and it said bad hardware or driver. So, as the box it comes in instructed, I contacted dell customer support. It should be called Dell customer torture hotline. Broken english operators really don't know anything. But anyway the computer I just took home turns out has an expired warranty and after a long time on the phone with them they said that Microcenter is a reseller and it's not the same product as if I bought from Dell directly. They said it is refurbished or used!! That's why it has no warranty. Microcenter hides this fact well. I had no idea I wasn't buying a brand new computer. It's really criminal and the funniest part is that they have that giant Dell area in the store so you feel like your buying direct from Dell. I voiced my opinion and complaint to dell and they literally couldn't care any less if they tried. So in short 1star for microcenter....i'm totally done with them. And I would say zero starts for Dell. read more

RUDE!!! I waited over 25 minutes for any type of customer service. I was in the market for 3 televisions. Finally I grew upset and went to the front to look for a manager. Thats when I met Leibys Tavarez, alleged manager. He was VERY RUDE AND DISMISSIVE!!! He is a poor representation of what a manager is. He totally dismissed my concerns and totally walked away to help someoene else as if I didnt matter. He did not address my concerns at all. As someone who works in customer service there is a level of professionalism that is to be expected that he failed to execute. They need to do better. I will also be sending this review directly to microcenter read more
