I saw the iPad special ad on my inbox and half day later, I walked into the store in hopes of finding my loot. From past visits, I knew Apple products were stashed at the back left corner so I just walked all the way to Apple area. There was a salesman near the counter and asked for the iPad for $369 and he said "white or black" and I knew they had plenty of what I was looking for. yes, it was for iPad 2 and $30 cheaper than other places. While waiting for him to come back, manager came to thank me personally for visiting his store and making thee purchase. I was like "wow", that's 1st. Put the wrong product in my hand, put his commission sticker on it, and joked about returning it if he was wrong because he wasn't sure if it would work. That combined with the fact it was absolutely packed in disregard of everyone's safety in the store in the middle of a pandemic. Right, so I keep getting e-mails from MC basically begging me to review their product and it keeps bringing up memories of the crap I dealt with last time, so here it is: No. Don't go here. Not if you need anything service related done. I came in with an Alienware desktop that needed a case swap to fit a brand new 1080ti (both the case and the gfx card were purchased from MicroCenter). Told the guy I needed it done quickly, which was true, I use the computer for work as well as play. He said something to the effect of 2 days and I can't remember how much it was going to cost (I think they were going to charge it as a build). While I *can* build computers, I'm generally far too lazy, so I figured screw it I'll let them do it and come back in a few days. Something like 3 or 4 days later I tried to call them up to see what was going on with it. No one in the service department picked up, so I drove over. Lady at the service counter tried to talk about for a bit, said it was on the bench, etc. After some pressure, she admitted they hadn't even opened it yet and blamed it on losing a few techs. Radio silence is not the answer to that problem, make a phone call and let me know. At the end of the day, MicroCenter losing techs is a MicroCenter problem, not a me problem, but I might be more understanding if they reach out and let me know it's going to be a few more days and would that be okay? I can assure you, in this case it was not. I got the tower back and they didn't charge me. Took it home and popped it open to find out the motherboard was proprietary, as well as the power source. Since, at this point, I was on an extreme time crunch and absolutely *had* to get back to work, I went back to MicroCenter and got a new mobo and supply as well as some extra RAM and then went home and performed the swap myself. It was *far* from smooth, there were a few other things on the software end that bugged out as well. How long would this have taken if I had left it with MicroCenter? Beyond that, I absolutely do not appreciate basically being forced to go back to MC and spend more money because of time constraints. Given more time, I absolutely would have gone to newegg or Amazon, but since they screwed me around for so long with the build, I didn't have time to wait for shipping and had to go to a brick and mortar shop. Oh, and the RAM I picked up was faulty and caused a bit of hairpulling on my end before I realized that it was, in fact, the RAM that was causing the crashes and yanked it out. So thanks for that, too. Two stars because they do generally have whatever you would need in stock and the staff is usually pretty knowledgeable (make sure you check prices online first though, some things in the store are grossly overpriced while others are actually cheaper than online), but said staff is basically nonexistent and checkout lines can be long. Service is slow and will blatantly lie to your face as well, and MC didn't even offer me an apology for the aforementioned BS, much less anything financially viable to make it worth my while to go back after losing money from missed work. *Screw* these guys. So I called micro center and they said they had what I was looking for. So I took the hour drive to find out they didn't have what I asked for... I would have just ordered it. Anyhow I was already there so I found something similar. I work for the state and the purchases are tax exempt so I filled the forms out. Both girls had me go back and forth and it was rather annoying but that's just the way it is sometimes. I left and went on my way. When I got home I realized they still had my I.D. Well you can't call them directly and the help line was no help. Instead of driving I just bit the bullet and bought a new I.D. Well today my work just called saying they still charged me tax for the purchase! I never even looked because I was there forever filling the forms out not to have tax!!!! I call and the "help" desk can't get ahold of the store either and said he would get them to call me. I'm sorry but when they are the ones that messed up I don't have time for this!!! For a tech store they sure are unorganized and need to train their people how to do their job! If they don't call I'll be driving the hour down for 4 bucks in tax.... What a joke! Since I've lived in Colorado, I've had to go into MicroCenter several times and all times I was treated the same way...horrible! I get suspicious looks, and no greeting, and employees texting on their personal phones as I try to ask for the location of an items. I've even been ignored in the past as I try to talk to a passing employee.Yesterday was the final straw because I had 2 floor employees refuse to show me where an item was located, only point to a general direction, even though neither of them were doing anything except standing around. Both directed me to the wrong location. The 3rd employee I asked that worked in the in the gaming department, basically threw a tantrum because he had to come around the desk from talking with another employee to show me where it was. I willl never do business with MicroCenter again and I suggest any African-American people who need computer supplies go else where because the staff at MicroCenter in Denver doen't like black customers. read more

I'm giving two stars because removing all ways to contact the store seems like a big Screw You to their customers. I wanted to double check stock of a monitor that showed only 1 available but they've scrubbed all options for phone, text, email, whatever. Since I live 90 minutes away I decided to order through someone else. I don't want to be driving for 3 hours in winter because their website inventory is wrong. Good prices and hands-down best selection for computer components in Denver. I've been shopping here since 2000, when it was a lot less crowded. Lines have been slow and frustrating in recent years, but the past two times here have really sucked. About a month ago, I was picking up a computer for a friend while I was in Denver. Got the computer and the salesperson locked it in the cage up front and sent me through the line, which only took about 5 minutes. When I got to the checkout, it took the woman working there about 10 more minutes to get a manager to open the damned cage so I could pay for the thing. Super frustrating. This weekend, I decided this time I'd do an Internet order and just pick up to beat the line. Right? Wrong. I went to the Internet pickup line and watched someone who entered the regular line exit *15 minutes* before me. It took me 20 minutes to get through the line to swipe my card and leave. So to summarize, great selection, but they don't staff properly for the number of customers. They should be aware of the volume by now. If it weren't for the occasional super discounted items, I probably wouldn't bother shopping here anymore. read more

Ok, I swear I'm done going to this place. Its close to my house, so I always think I'm saving time going here, then I'm angry I wasted so much time. Half the time I don't find what I need, or if I do it's locked and I have to wait forever for someone to help me. Once I bought a new power cord for my Apple laptop, and the guy gave me the wrong one. So I had to go back, wait forever to get help again, and all I got was an 'oops'. Most recently I went in to see if a cable was still working, and after waiting 25 minutes in one repair line, I was sent to another repair line equally as long. I just turned and left. I had an issue with my account being mixed up with a person having the same name. As a result, I received emails about transactions that I did not make, which made me suspicious of fraudulent activity. A couple days after me leaving a less than desirable review, the store's sales manager Ryan contacted me directly. He was extremely courteous and apologetic, and updated my account accordingly. Why not a five-star review? There needs to be more checks implemented to ensure a similar account mixup does not occur in the future. We refer to Micro Center as the "Candy Store" because we can literally spend a solid 4 or 5 hours in here looking at things we want. Then have to try to set a budget on what we can actually get. If you need a computer component and you can't find it in this place it probably doesn't exist. Granted there are a few things you wont find or might not be in stock, but I guarantee there is another brand or model of the exact thing you want. On busy days and during sales the place will be packed and the hot items will sell pretty quick, so I advise to show up really early and go directly to the hot ticket item you want. Bring a lunch and some water, because once you get to shopping you will spend a good part of your day in here filling up your cart with things you want to buy. The staff is really friendly and knowledgeable and can pretty accurately point you to the item you want, or go find someone who can. They will take the time to answer any questions that you might have or give advice to where else you might find better prices. They will even suggest that which is great. They know their industry and know where to find the gear. This is the best place within 100 miles to find the parts you can want without having to buy online. read more

I live an hour's drive from the nearest store (Denver) and simply wanted to talk with someone there before making the trip. I couldn't find a phone number for the store anywhere. Their website suggests we go in person or we can get on the customer service chat line. From the chat line person: "My apologies we do not have a direct line to Denver. Instead I can take down your # to our sales rep at our Denver location for a callback request." The only way to reach a store is to either drive there in person or call the national number and put your name and number on a list. This policy isn't due to COVID, because they are asking that you go in person to the store instead of calling. Very inconvenient for customers. read more

Oh dear god.... So I run a small business with 33 employees and I buy about 8 computers a year either from Micro Center or Costco. I generally like Micro Center for their great deals on open box or refurb products. The good news for Costco is that as of today, I'm done shopping with micro center. I purchased a high end laptop less than a year ago and then shelled out an extra $300 or so for the extended warranty. The laptop had track pad issues from the start, after dealing with HP for months I finally took it in to Micro Center's service department. That was 12 days ago, despite being told when I purchased the warranty that I would get "priority service" (heaven help the poor souls that have "regular" service). So I dropped my laptop off 12 days ago and since then I've heard...nothing. I've called the service department no fewer than 8 times, it always just rings and then hangs up on me. I've also sent an email through the online system...nothing. I've called the corporate call center twice; both times they also say they can't get through and that they'll send an email and someone will call me back...nothing. This is my work computer that is in the shop and it's pretty hard to be without it. But not getting a single person to call or email me back or give me an update in almost 2 weeks is insane. Whenever you spend a couple hundred dollars at their store they have a manager come over and shake your hand. I assume they've done some sort of study to show that this makes people feel appreciated. Instead of all the hand shaking I'd really appreciate it if someone would, you know, fix my computer and call me back. Think twice before buying a computer here, particularly if there's any chance you'll need to use that extended warranty. read more

I just bought my 5th (or maybe it's the 6th) computer from Ylena at MicroCenter. I love this place and buy all my computer necessities there. They have a great help desk, friendly support staff, and everything one could wish for in technology. Ylena has helped me for years. While all the sales people are knowledgeable, ever since my first purchase years ago I seek out Ylena because she just seems to know about everything. She has helped with Windows machines as well as Mac. I have bought them both. Highly recommend. read more

I'm sad to see the many poor ratings, as I recently had an excellent experience. I first talked with a rep at the Knowledge Bar about an audio configuration issue I've been having. While he wasn't able to help me resolve it, I think that was more due to the hardware constraints than anything else, and he certainly did try. He did suggest an alternative, and after getting more information from another rep near that area of the store I went with that. Finally, I asked the cashier rep his opinion on whether the extended warranty was worth it and he gave me an honest answer despite the fact that it resulted in me spending less money. I felt all three of these guys were honest and intelligent about their products, and willing to look into/ask others/be straightforward about what they didn't know. I also at no time felt any pressure to spend money at the store and that all of them simply were trying to give me the information I was looking for, nor did I ever feel rushed and that they were trying to get me out of their hair. Customer service like this is [unfortunately] hard to come by. While I usually try to find the absolute best deals on everything I purchase and mostly get things mostly from Amazon, this made me want to shop here without worrying about potentially saving a few bucks (though I'm not sure I would have anyway as the prices were definitely competitive). read more

I was put on wait list for an out of stock iPad mini and never got a call. We checked online in two weeks and it was available, so we bought it. We went online 10 days after purchase and the price had dropped by $40. Tried calling and got disconnected because "hold is full". I tried to chat and was 10th in the cue for 20 minutes. The sales associate Dan helped me right through the transaction and I appreciated the hand sanitizer stations throughout the store. Great service! I order an open box item (MacBook Charger) online And when I came to pick it up they presented me with a new one at the same price since the one I had reserved was not available! When other stores will sell you the item at regular price even if their at fault, they honored the price I had reserved it. I am very satisfied on their customer service and their employees are very helpful as well. This type of customer service you won't find with amazon, EVER! Kind of crazy here. Walked in and bam you are almost in a isle. I was not sure where my item was. Heard some employees taking. One was a manager. I walked up said excuse me. The manager just kept telling his story. The other employee just looked at me didn't say anything. Waited to be acknowledged. Between the three of them. They didn't know where the electronics cleaner was. Final we walked and saw another group (5) employees. Final one knew where it was. Then when I questioned the price on how the smaller of the two items was more he just said "get the cheaper one" approaching the line that was 15 people long and growing. There were 3-4 registers that were not open. Amazing how you can have 8-9 people standing around but a long line at the counter. This is the 2nd time I went there to have them build me a custom desktop. Both times they were awesome. The tech was very knowledgeable. They quoted me a 4-hour build and since I lived about 1 hour away I agreed to get a bite to eat locally and just hang out. They go it all done in less than 3 hours and exceed my expectations. I am a fifty-year veteran of retail shopping and the son of a great retailer, especially in customer service, and an honest salesman so I know good service and lousy service and MicroCenter at the management level is one of the worst in customer service. I bought a monitor there, it completely died, but the store found the receipt, and it was still under the manufacturer's warranty, so I asked if they could ship it back - NO; could I get a shipping label - NO; an address-NO; NOT EVEN AN F'ING ADDRESS. I get put on hold. Then put on hold again. And again. When I'm finally talking to someone I'm told its still processing and it will be done tomorrow. After more prodding I find out they haven't even started working on it yet. NOT HAPPY. I was told they would be working on it today or I would never have left it with them. This place is amazing. Aside from software and hardware, they have every type of peripheral you'd need for your computer. Even some you haven't thought of. I'll walk through their aisle of "Nifty USB Gadgets" and see a buncha' cool and random stuff that I never knew existed. I know it's cliche' to say "your one stop shop", but for anything regarding computers, this place really is. Their service department is actually quite reliable. They even have some self-service stations, where you can bring in your machine and troubleshoot it before submitting a repair ticket. It's not all computers, though. They have a section for cables and wires that rivals even the best Radio Shack or Best Buy. So it's also a good stop for your A/V or home theatre needs. Oh..and get on their mailing list. They send out some great promos as time goes on. Last postcard I received had a free coupon for either a Digital Photo Memory Card or a Thumbdrive. Completely free...no purchase necessary..I just had to show up. Of course, I fell for their trap by browsing the store and buying something else. But I needed that, darnit. But here's the funniest part about Micro Center: Geeks Exist! You know the stereotypical "nerds" that show up on TV shows or commercials...sorta' like Dwight Schrute or the guys of Lambda Lambda Lambda? Those types of people really DO exist. They're the employees of Micro Center. I don't mean to rag on 'em, because they do a great job, seem happy and are amazingly helpful. You need to talk to these guys. They're great. It's hilarious that I'll see a clerk with acne, thick glasses, a short sleeve shirt with a skinny tie and a pocket protector.
