Michelle's Cakes made a speciality cake for my mom, to celebrate a huge milestone for her: liver transplant. They made a cake in the shape of a liver and I must say, all the guests, including myself, were blown away! Not only did the cake look real, the taste was unbelievable! I started ordering from Michelle in 2017 when she made a three tier Princess Azaria theme birthday cake for my granddaughter (shown on her website). Since that party, I have ordered cakes and cupcakes for all of our celebrations. Michelle's cakes are not only pretty and a work of art but they taste absolutely delicious and worth every penny and are over the top. I'm so happy for Michelle that baking and decorating cakes are her passion and that she always exceeds my expectations. When I place an order with Michelle, I only have to provide the gender, age, party theme and she works her magic and that sure makes it really easy for me. There is not another bakery in the entire DMV that can compete with her talents. Whenever I attend parties for friends and family and the cake is not prepared by Michelle I just don't eat them because there is no point in going through the entire disappointment phase all over again. She and her entire staff always show the best examples of outstanding customer service. Be sure to get a slice of her Holiday Fruitcake because it is to die for! Last December I purchased a healthy slice of her Fruitcake and on my drive home from Indian Head to Bryans Road I had completely demolished the entire super large slice. It brought back memories of the days when my grandmother use to have fruit cakes for Christmas. My kiddos love to stop in here and grab cupcakes and they are always great! I also had them make my sister in laws gender reveal cake. They were excellent about it, as I did not want to know the gender either until my sister in law cut the cake. Our family has now had at least 5 cakes and several cupcakes from Michelle's. The cakes have been different sizes, different styles for both girls and boys, and both chocolate and vanilla flavors. They have all been beautifully decorated. They have all been very pricey. Most especially, they have all been very dry (especially the cupcakes), had the texture of cornbread, and have had virtually no taste without the super sweet icing. For me as a home baker, the cake is as important as the appearance. I keep thinking the cake part will get better, but it hasn't. If you don't care what the cake tastes like, then you will probably like Michelle's Cakes. read more
