Every instructor I've had so far has been awesome, understanding, and super helpful. It may cost more than some gym memberships, but it will shake up your routine and add a lot of challenges for your body. I really do recommend giving it a try no matter your fitness level.

Diane owns the studio, and Amanda, Cilla, and Kate are the instructors. All of them are amazingly kind and supportive for any newbies looking to try Pilates. They're all STOTT trained, and they all love the work they do and really care about helping you advance. I had tried Pilates a few times before, and I hadn't been able to find a place in Boston that I liked. (I have tried two other studios in the area and left feeling miserable.) But all of the instructors here are so patient and helpful, taking time to talk with me and understand what I am trying to get out of these sessions, and I have seen a dramatic change in my body since I started in October. My upper back doesn't hurt any more; my leggings are loose; my body is stronger; my energy is up; and my mood is better. Before you can take any group classes, you have to do the intro private sessions (I think to make sure you don't injure yourself...which was, at least for me, so very possible lol). I started with once a week then progressed up to three times a week when I noticed how great I was feeling. I have continued with a mix of private and group classes, and I love it. I can not recommend FitLab enough. In fact, I recommend FitLab to everyone in my life--friends, colleagues, everyone lol. It has really changed my body, health, and life.

I have an underlying medical condition, so Sasha has had to learn about it and be careful in the program she's put together and evolved. Cheryl is the studio owner and is a self-proclaimed "tree-hugger" and so not that tech / web savvy. She has introduced me to pilates with machines and like I always feel after resuming regular classes, my posture is better and my back and neck tension from constant computer work has resolved. She also incorporates light weights to ensure I am getting a full body workout. The great part of this studio is you can get 1 on 1 classes for the price of large group classes. The disadvantage is it is small and personal, and I have to confirm for each class I will attend. Here's the website link, as it took me a while to find it, but it's a worthy find, especially if you live near the middle of Waltham. It is behind the Cafe on the Common. http://pilatesmassachusetts.com/index.html

Dani is really fantastic!…read more Some people need a non-intimidating introduction to yoga. As a total beginner, I was timid to go to a large studio. I had a lot of pain and inflexibility, so I knew yoga might be of benefit. But, as a guy who's not known for graceful moves, I took pause. When we arrived at Dani's private studio, what impressed me the most was how much attention she took to our "practice." She judges no one; it's all about embracing where you are at. At first, I couldn't call it that, but after weeks and eventually months, I became confident, stronger, and much more flexible. While Dani caters to all levels, her studio is really a fantastic place to grow in your Vinyasa practice. It may not be for everyone (there's just not enough space!) but she offers really great instruction at a value that really makes yoga accessible to nearly everyone. She keeps her overhead low and passes that onto you! Dani is also a competitive runner, and has given me much wisdom over the years as I aspire to run better. While I relocated to Colorado some time ago, I always try to stop by for a class when I'm travelling to Boston for work. It's usually the best hour of my day!
